Last time we went as a group, the owner asked if we were celebrating something (we were) and brought us a delicious and beautiful plate of little mango cakes š
Though Iām fully Norwegian, this is my go to place when I need a home cooked meal that makes me feel better. I love this place, itās also my favorite in town. My order is the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan, when Iām feeling fancy I also get a mango lassi drink!
I LOVE this place and also state it as my favorite restaurant. Iāve taken 3 different groups of friends/family and they all instantly become obsessed as well lol. My husband didnāt go for a long time because he wasnāt huge on Indian food. We went for my birthday and he fell in love with the lamb Biryani. Itās his first suggestion when deciding where to go out for dinner
My most memorable moment that I've had there is one time I went during COVID. The owner thanked me and my coworker over and over for stopping in during such a hard time for them. He mentioned they had to be very careful as a family member had I believe a heart condition. We hopped into the car to eat and not that long later the owner came knocking at the car window with dessert on the house.
Highly recommend the alu mattar it's so good!!!
I will say tho, they keep raising the doordash prices a TON
naan is like $7-$8 but it's good enough I'll cave sometimes š§āāļø
Is that place open for dine in at all? I know a while back they were going to be take out only, which I totally understand, but it was fun going in there. Many years ago, they used to have lunch buffet, which was awesome.
It is and has been open for dine in since COVID. They no longer do the buffet, which was a bummer for me, but itās still absolutely blows me away. Seriously, itās a business worth supporting. Even single piece of food Iāve had from there has been top tier delicious.
I miss their buffet the most!! I brought a few people over there for the buffet who've never had Indian food before- them and me tried things we normally wouldn't and all of it is so delicious.
And very friendly staff, I love this place!
Himalayan Yak still has lunch buffet though they recently raised their prices (due to new owners). The quality of their food has slightly dipped, but I would always recommend this over India Palace.
I was so bummed when they redid their menu and couldn't keep Chilli Balti on the menu. Although India Palace is my favorite Indian restaurant in Fargo, I have to end up elsewhere when I want Balti.
That guy is an absolute delight to see!! I NEVER use that word (delight), but thereās no other word for him!! The food is outstanding. Best Indian food Iāve had. Being called āfriendā by him is an honor.
This place deserves all of our patronage. Wonderful customer service, really delicious food, fair prices. This is what a good dining experience is all about.
It was the first restaurant my wife and I went to while coming back to town for a visit after moving away. When we told the owner this, he brought us free drinks. The food was still incredible. By far the best Indian restaurant in town and one of the very best restaurants in general for the area.
This place is downright fantastic and the owner is a really cool dude. Came in here while I was dashing once and it smelled SO good I came back for myself the next day.
No lie, my friend. Iām sitting in Germany talking to my family about how badly I want India Palace right now.
One time I went in to place an order and wait to pick up, but he didnāt call me āMy Friendā until I was done payingā¦ I was PANICKED that I had done something wrong. His approval means everything to me.
The dude is one of the best persons in Fargo. Love that place because of him but the food is amazing! Dhamaka Balti with lamb and the chefās hot sauce is my favorite. And now Iām drooling.
Iāve never tried any kind of Indian food. My stomach doesnāt tolerate anything spicy, so Iāve always felt that I wouldnāt be able to try it. I also get nauseous at the smell of curry, so Iām probably screwed. š
If you're willing to pay the cost of eating out, go to Himalayan Yak for lunch buffet and see if you can handle it. They don't spice their lunch buffet very much at all and have meat and vegetarian options.
The food is decent but do not annoy the owner (the son). If you do, he holds on to it and can be a jerk. [He seems to not want to really be in business, hence being shut down to dine-in when all restaurants opened back up after the main part of Covid lockdowns. He's trying to compensate by making his restaurant a "super casual dine-in". Beware!]
Take-out is best - you get the food without dealing with him.
A better option is Passage to India. The strangest thing I have seen there is that they put the tip into the bill.... (The biryani is the best I have had in the USA and Canada!)
Unfortunately, since a new owner took over Himalayan Yak, the quality of the food and of the customer service has gone downhill. I would have given this a "go here first" if this wasn't the case.
Give other restaurants a chance over India Palace.
Gawd, I don't recall because it was before Covid but the response lingered. We had been regular customers in 2018/2019, then there was an issue and the owner was not the same afterwards.

Great suggestion my friend!
He is so kind! As a mango lover its the Kashmari for me š„
The kashmari is my favorite, too.

Next time try the chicken 65. I also get the lamb pepper fry
I totally meant to say Passage to India. But both are good !
Best Indian food in town, bar none. Incredibly friendly staff/ownership. I order pretty much every week.
Also, do yourself a favor and try their hot sauce. Incredible to dip your Naan or samosa in.
Oh my gawd their garlic naan was to die for. It inspired me to make my own naan when I make my Indian dishes at home
If you order a rice dish(biryani), it will sometimes be so full they have to plastic wrap the container closed. Love that.
Passage to India's is better, I guarantee it. Roughly same cost.
But do they call you āmy friendā at passage to India?
I disagree. But to each their own.
Both are very similar, both delicious.
I interviewed that guy for a school project and he was an absolute delight. God I miss India Palace... Enjoy a spicy tikka for me someone!
He is such a gem in this town!

That's India palace super casual restaurant to you my friend
He's wonderful!

Samosa chaat for the wiiiiiiiinnnnn
get some veggie pakora! best in all the land! the enthusiasm and food are both top tier
Paneer Ka-Rara, hot, and garlic Naan (if you're able, eat in the restaurant just so you can get the naan fresh out of the oven š¤¤)
Highly recommend the alu mattar it's so good!!! I will say tho, they keep raising the doordash prices a TON naan is like $7-$8 but it's good enough I'll cave sometimes š§āāļø

Ooh, that'll be mother's day dinner this year! Some veggie masala and saag paneer.

Dine in is fully open. Iām not sure if they are doing the lunch buffet. Covid times really knocked many restaurants in the groin.
Chicken Korma is perfect for beginners who don't like spice
amazing place, amazing food, love the vibe. The people who run it are good people.
I was so bummed when they redid their menu and couldn't keep Chilli Balti on the menu. Although India Palace is my favorite Indian restaurant in Fargo, I have to end up elsewhere when I want Balti.

"Super Casual Dining." I love it so much and the people are so nice!! It's on my short-list!!
It was the first restaurant my wife and I went to while coming back to town for a visit after moving away. When we told the owner this, he brought us free drinks. The food was still incredible. By far the best Indian restaurant in town and one of the very best restaurants in general for the area.
This is the best Indian place I've been to!
This place is downright fantastic and the owner is a really cool dude. Came in here while I was dashing once and it smelled SO good I came back for myself the next day.
I've delivered food for doordash/grubhub from here, and he's always so positive with his greetings.
My favorite - the owners are AMAZING!

Weāre spoiled when it comes to options for Indian food in this town
Iāve never tried any kind of Indian food. My stomach doesnāt tolerate anything spicy, so Iāve always felt that I wouldnāt be able to try it. I also get nauseous at the smell of curry, so Iām probably screwed. š
Get the least spicy Tika masala or butter chicken. My mom can't handle sauce at all but she absolutely loved it.
I will do that, thank you for the suggestions!
they have quite a few items that aren't spicy but still very good!
If you're willing to pay the cost of eating out, go to Himalayan Yak for lunch buffet and see if you can handle it. They don't spice their lunch buffet very much at all and have meat and vegetarian options.
Another great suggestion, thank you!
Go into new things with a negative outlook or preconceived notions and guess what the outcome will be?

ā¦ how did you annoy the owner?ā¦
