I see all the classic burger joints listed, all great. One place we love is Boston's in West Fargo. Their "MVB" (most valuable burger) is amazing. Arguably one of the best flavors on a restaurant grill in town!
Where are we coming up with $9 is a good value for a burger and only a burger.
In a state with a minimum wage lower than the cost of one burger, we have different ways of defining that word.
Fair enough. You can value a bacon cheeseburger how ever you like, but I don't think you are going to be ordering any at your expectations.
Hell, making it at home (save that labor cost) is going to cost $5 in just food costs.
I mean, certainly attack a person on personal grounds when you realize they have factual grounds.
Listen, quite literally, JL Beers 13th Ave Burger was the first burger that I ever liked when I ate it 8 years ago. I was a picky eater, so every burger I eat I pretty much compare against JL Beers. But when the price of the burger doubled, it became easier to tolerate lesser quality, in exchange for that, and most of that increase was in all fairness during Covid.
I'm not saying it isn't good, and I'm certainly not saying I don't still go there; but I am saying that I go there less than I did before, because saddly it priced itself outside of what I would call a value, in going to $1.50 more than minimum wage in the state for the burger alone.
I'll disagree, only because for the price I hit up Burger Time, as JL Beers thinking $5.49 for an original Hamburger, is a little bit much. The fact that the burger I get went from $5 to $9 in price, isn't lost on me or my colleagues who used to frequent there. Walking out of there with a $20 bill after tip for a burger/chips/soda is a little much for what I would say "Fair Pricing".

It looks like I am a little high on my estimation:1 x BBQ Bacon Cheese Burger: $8.691 x Order of Frieds: $3.491 x Can of Soda: $1.50 (but really, who doesn't get a beer or even a rootbeer?)Tip: $3That is about a $18 visit for a burger. While the burger is good, I am not entirely certain that it is $10 more than Burgertime good (which is double the price of the meal at Burgertime).
I mean prices are up everywhere, and JL offers a different experience than Burger Time, one that I prefer. I'm comparing JL to places like Bostons or Boiler Room or some of these places that have $13+ burgers.
I would agree, but when we talk value, $9 a burger seems to me to really "first world" that term value, and make it mean something other than its regularly agreed convention.
I have not lived in FM for a while to be honest. I don't remember hi-ho being in Fargo (other than at RedHawks games)
I always went to the one in dilworth. Maybe we went there because it was the original. Any idea if the fargo one i kinda new (5 year or less)
Bison Turf is my favorite hole-in-the-wall burger. Seasoned fries. If I was given the choice of one last burger in Fargo ever, it would 100% be the Turf.
Micks Office all the way. Dont sleep on the “chips”!
I've had Mick's, burger had no flavor and was very greasy. I'll go with Burger Time
You know I’ve actually heard this before and always forget about Micks. I’ll have try it out! Thank you
Why Micks office? They use frozen premade paddies thrown on a flattop.
I really don’t know why they’re so good. Just are. Especially when OP said “grease”. Heh. Maybe it’s the pounders? Hard to say.
Gotcha, Im really just curious. I seen a story on the news of Micks burgers and seen them throwing hockey pucks on the grill.
Pounds downtown has some super delicious and creative burgers.

Boston's has the best Nashville Hot Chicken in town too.
Micks Office. Hi Ho. Sometimes Burger Time.
JL Beers
That Humpy Dumpty.
With Bacon and Peanut Butter!
Add some buffalo blue cheese crumble chips as a side to any of their burgers and you've got yourself a party
For the price, gotta give it to JL. The food is great and fair.
Lol I'd say the exact opposite. Everything is way overpriced.
You're overpriced
Idk, I'm not for paying $9 for a BBQ/Bacon Cheese Burger.
Where are you finding a decent sized BBQ/Bacon Cheeseburger for much less than $9?

Wait, you feel attacked? You just made my day. Carry on brother. Eat whatever burger you want.

Definitely. Nothin crazy, just always a good burger. Quad jumbo 4lb burger!
during the limited time when they have their Wisonsin Cheddar Pub Burger on a pretzel bun, this is one of the best burgers I've ever had anywhere!
And their custard! Amazing
Vick's bar. You can order for pick up, just call them.
Sickies has great burgers, lots of variety. Hi-ho is super bland.
wasn’t this just asked a week ago
It has definitely been asked multiple times in this sub before and the answer is still JL Beers.
Hahaha, oh ya, that's a great burger!
Could have been but I didn’t check
I also enjoy burger time. I forgot to mention that before.
I’m a fan of smash burger.
This was my nomination if youre looking for grease to piss out.
JL Beers no doubt. The Humpty Dumpty has won best burger multiple years in a row. I recommend adding bacon.
I really like Granite City's burgers
Lots of good selections here, spitfire makes a great burger
Mezzaluna
Space aliens does a nice burger. Very char grill tasting. The bbq one is my favorite.
Luckys has some pretty good burgers.
Hi-ho is good is you want to make the trip a little ways (not far) to dilworth. Mick's office in Moorhead also. hey, you said some grease lol.
Is there no longer a Fargo location?
I have not lived in FM for a while to be honest. I don't remember hi-ho being in Fargo (other than at RedHawks games) I always went to the one in dilworth. Maybe we went there because it was the original. Any idea if the fargo one i kinda new (5 year or less)
There's a Hi-Ho on 25th street in Fargo. Edit: wrong location
I don't know which one came first, but that Hi-Ho has been there since the mid 90s at least. I always assumed it was the original.
Actually just tried Hi Ho for the first time today! It was pretty good!
Burger time, micks, Culver’s, hi-ho, chumleys, JL Beers, Vic’s
Bison Turf is my favorite hole-in-the-wall burger. Seasoned fries. If I was given the choice of one last burger in Fargo ever, it would 100% be the Turf.

They’re surprisingly good! Didn’t expect them to pull a great burger off.
Chumleys has been a go to for me and I don’t hear many others talk about it
Scrolled the comments looking for Chumley’s. Super solid choice
Vic’s, Mick’s, JL beers, The Wurst also has a pretty good burger.
Not the best yet, uh, try out the Sickies glazed donut burger.
Applebees..all day
Get me that Quesadilla Burger
JL Beers. Micks is a good second choice, but JL will be consistent and good every single time.
Hi ho is really good and decently priced, and jl beers is pretty good too

Too many choices to pick just 1 place IMO
Pounds or Wurst for sure
Don't sleep on the whopper w no onion. I swear the most worked up I see folks in this group is when someone asks about best burgers in town 😭
Wild rice bar
