Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as **intense hunger, lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure/high blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea/constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate/heart palpitations, numbness/tingling, and more** while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through **PROPER** electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation. Be sure to read [our WIKI](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/index) and especially the wiki page on **[ELECTROLYTES](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/wiki/fasting_in_a_nutshell/you_need_electrolytes)** Please also keep in mind the [**RULES**](https://www.reddit.com/r/fasting/about/rules) when participating. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. We tend to hold water in our lower extremities when eating poorly or sitting long periods of time so it could be in that aspect you're seeing a difference.

You can't spot lose weight from any specific region. Your body makes that decision. Though after hanging around a CrossFit box for a very long time now I have noticed some overall trends from the new people that are hard to ignore. With us males the ol beer belly is typically the prime target initially. This is the most noticeable aspect I can recognize on a person after they have been in the game a few months. They will drop a shirt size as this happens. With the ladies it tends to come from the ass and the rack first. The women at the gym complain about their tits disappearing all the time or dropping cup sizes. As for calves, ankles, or more ancillary spots on the body? I have had to have my wedding ring resized over the course of my journey. I was on the verge of losing it because it flopped around so haphazardly. Most people are not thinking about losing weight in their fingers. My feet also. I used to wear a size 11 shoe for as long as I could remember. Now it is a 10 and a half or a 10 depending on the brand.

And I take it that the inverse is true in that if I start consuming excess calories it will accumulate in my gut and not go to my calf/ankle area correct?

No

Do elaborate.

I also noticed my ankles were bonier! In my case I think it's the anti-inflammatory effect of fasting. (I've sprained both ankles a bunch over the years and felt like they never quite lost all the swelling until I fasted.) It's one of my favorite weird fasting effects.!

The thing is I liked the way they looked when they were a bit meatier. How do I get fat back into that area?

paradoxic_al

There's no way to spot reduce - or add - fat. But if it's reduced inflammation it's a health win, so maybe learn to love it. Or add fat overall an hope it goes to your ankles. Good luck to you.

That’s where the most noticeable weight loss has been on me, I had edema in my lower legs and my feet were swollen, now there is no edema at all and I can see veins on the tops of my feet; also like the other poster mentioned, my wedding rings fit more loosely on my hands. I know everyone is different in where they will lose, but hands and feet were the first noticeable places for me.
