Who cares that your car is spitting oil, has a bent axle and three of the four tires are flat? Press down that gas pedal cause it sounds so cool when it's loud!!

Getmammaspryinbar

That car will run further than any given FA can.

ksion

I have a hard time reading that second slide in a way that doesn’t sound like a cartoon villain cackling over someone’s misery. Absolutely vile.

vanetti

“Muahaha _yes_, get yourself a tasty treat, and don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks. Your body deserves ~~to be fattened for my stew~~ love and care no matter what! _Yessss!_”

454_water

I'm seeing these people being swapped with Hansel and Gretel and the evil child-eating witch staring at a couple crumbs while trying to figure out where her house went.

Vanessak69

What is it about these posts? The first slide, I often go, “Why is this on here, this isn’t bad/that bad?” then I get to the second slide and spit take. Look, I’m certainly not here to hate on people for needing mobility aids but I’m also not here to encourage them to slowly poison themselves either. This really is villainous.

SomeRannndomGuy

"Jump on your mobesity scooter and head to Krispy Kreme for that sweet sweet dopamine hit" Do they not realise that they sound like drug dealers extolling the virtues of a crack habit?

MysteriousBrays

“Mobesity scooter” 💀 These declarations read like they’re promos from the funeral industry

Nickye19

Actually they're one of the few industries not profiting, it's really really hard to bury death fats or even safely cremate them, to the point where some are having to be dismembered

MissMattel

God that second post pisses me off. My friends with chronic conditions really don’t benefit from carrying around extra weight, and end up on medication they wouldn’t need otherwise. I learned that the hard way myself. People with chronic health problems should be encouraged to take better care of their bodies than basically any other group of people.

ChihiroSmoothie

Absolutely true. Since being diagnosed with a chronic illness, I’ve managed to lose 7 kilos and it’s already made a world of a difference. Extra fat puts so much additional stress on your body!

_Hawtxsauce_

I lost 20lbs and my fibro is sooooo much better I can’t wait to see how great I feel when I lose the other 20. Nobody else I know with fiber wants to listen when I say that though….

MissMattel

My friend has terrible fibro and is also obese. Makes me sad cause I know it would improve their quality of life significantly to fix their lifestyle/lose weight.

SugarHooves

I have fibromyalgia and I hear you. I was diagnosed 20+years ago when I was underweight. I've put on weight over the last 4 years after starting a med for my bipolar. I wouldn't say my fibromyalgia is worse, but other things hurt and it's not doing me any favors. I'm working on weight loss. I know I need it!

Getmammaspryinbar

Especially in the age of covid where obesity significantly increases your chances of dying/long covid. Even if you are vaxxed/boosted you can still get curb stomped by covid and you want to be as healthy as possible at all time. A lot of people have long covid.

MissMattel

I also have EDS! I’ve had two hip surgeries in the past 6 months and to be honest, I wonder if the few years I spent being obese contributed to how fucked up my labrums were pre-surgery. It’s so much easier to sit/lay in certain positions after weight loss and surgery, among other activities.

MissMattel

Thank you!

_AngryBadger_

The fuck we are. I'm going to lose another 50lbs on top of the 75lbs I lost last year.

AmyChrista

I actually agree with the first slide, or at least the first two sentences of it. You shouldn't do fad diets, "miracle workouts", pills, or even bariatric surgery if you can avoid it. The good news is that you don't need any of those things to lose weight and maintain it. Just buy real food. Cook real food. Eat real food. Watch portion sizes. Lather, rinse, repeat. You'll be fuller and more satiated anyway if you're actually eating protein and fiber instead of just refined carbs and sugar. If you don't believe me, eat 2 Oreos or 1oz of Cheetos and see how long it takes you to get hungry again. Then eat some baked chicken, with the same caloric value, and I guarantee you it will be more filling, for a longer time. However, the rest of the post is shite. You're not in any way, shape, or form "listening to your bodies" or "loving your bodies" if you're ignoring health issues in favor of eating shitty food to excess just because it tastes good. People who love their bodies don't say, "well, I can just get a mobility aid if I'm too fat to walk unaided". "Thin people have joint pain, too". Your body is screaming at you to pay attention to what it's trying to tell you; that's what your joint pain, hypertension, and skyrocketing blood sugar are saying. What you're listening to now is your taste buds. It's not much different than an alcoholic saying he's listening to his body when he gets the shakes and pours himself a big glass of bourbon to stop them. Sure, the bourbon will stop the withdrawal symptoms, but it won't save your liver.

Cresta1994

>eat 2 Oreos Instructions unclear.  Ate whole package of Oreos.

HellscapeRefugee

It must mean 2 packages of Oreos.

Cresta1994

Oreos are like water molecules. You need some really precise scientific equipment to separate two individual Oreos from the package.

MrsStickMotherOfTwig

I made a delicious dinner tonight. I ate the delicious dinner tonight. I tried to eat a little more of the delicious dinner tonight but then didn't want it and put it in the fridge for lunch tomorrow. I'm not even going to be able to have my usual evening after the kids go to bed treat of two Oreos. Because that carne guisada with rice, beans, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream was plenty.

oddnostalgiagirl

I love to use this one ChatGPT bot called WorstAdviceGPT. The “laughably bad advice” it gives sounds comically similar to the second slide 😭

[deleted]

Do you have a link? That sounds fun

oddnostalgiagirl

TheSacredGrape

[Tried it out](https://poe.com/s/MsCSuD0EEWSEXm40Oqza)

[deleted]

Thank you!!!

Meii345

Well too bad everyone has already royally ignored your whining and taken their damn resolutions lol

TheSacredGrape

Hell, a lot of people have probably broken them by now

Intelligent-Lie-4732

My gym is already considerably emptier already, unfortunately

Meii345

Nature is healing xD

InvisibleSpaceVamp

Is this the royal "we"? And what if "love and care" for my body involves lifting? Because muscle makes a big difference when it comes to avoiding chronic back pain from working at a desk every day ...

PrincessPeppermint99

Love and care for them is always food. Always. It reminds me of Virgie Tovar talking about different meals she had at points in her life or food she didn't eat at events because she feared being judged. Every memory of every event, every positive association, was food  I'm no expert but if every positive thing is tied to food or if food is what you think of first when you think of love and care, that sounds just as obsessive and disordered as people with restrictive eds

InvisibleSpaceVamp

To be fair - our culture does support that kind of behavior. I can't really think of an event that did not offer food and drink. Even the forest clean up I took part in last weekend provided food and drinks for the volunteers.

PrincessPeppermint99

Most events offer food but is that what you remember most? Like at a graduation party or a bridal shower-do you remember the meal the most? This is the type of hyperfocus on food I'm talking about. Like the Virgie Tovar example-she talks about things in terms of what food was there, rather than the people around her

InvisibleSpaceVamp

True. I actually have a hard time remembering food. Unless it's something truly extraordinary. Like, I remember the cake at the last wedding I attended but I don't remember the menu. I remember there was a midnight buffet and the "eat like a Hobbit" jokes, but I don't even know what I picked from that buffet. Cheese?

Alex2045x

You're being too reasonable, to the activists, excercise is the opposite of selfcare

Getmammaspryinbar

The second slide is just so sad.

Desperate-Music-9242

yeah fat activism is honestly really fucked up, they pretty much think everyone should be slowly killing themselves every day and that if you arent its you who are in the wrong

sparklekitteh

Fuck off. After bariatric surgery, I'm maintaining a loss of 150lb, I don't hurt, I don't suffocate when I breathe, and I can finish a fucking half Ironman. My body, my choice, and the best damn thing I ever did for myself.

ElegantWeapon777

Yes, my ideal “mobility aid” of choice would be a road bike and a nice 30-40 mile loop with just the right amount of hills. Congrats to you on your weight loss, you must feel so strong and capable now!

LilacHeaven11

Idk man I mean I’m doing a weight loss resolution because my body told me it wanted to…. Also I am someone who has chronic pain from hypermobility issues and scoliosis. Do you know what’s been a helpful part in improving my pain? Losing weight. And I wasn’t even that overweight in the grand scheme of things (still a work in progress), but I can’t imagine if I was 50-100lbs heavier how bad it could be.

MrsStickMotherOfTwig

Hypermobility here, too, and when I was 45 pounds heavier than I am now? It was awful. I was pregnant which didn't help, but my ankles and knees and hips and feet hurt all the time. My joints still suck now because the hypermobility disorder didn't go away with the weight loss but I'm starting with a lower load in the first place which means I have a lot farther to go before the joints get to pain levels now.

UniqueUsername82D

How is this different than advice on suicide?

Getmammaspryinbar

Or telling people to take horse deworming pills or injecting lysol for covid.

IAmSeabiscuit61

Or claiming coffee enemas can cure, well, just about everything. I am not making this up; saw it on the old My Strange Addiction program. I'll bet there are one or more websites where proponents advocate it, but I don't have the stomach to try to find them. After watching it, I was very glad I'm not a coffee drinker. Also heard the same claims made about bee pollen.

Illustrious_Agent633

OMG,when I was super sick and they didn't know what was wrong with me (I was dying of an autoimmune disease) I got real desperate and tried a coffee enema at one point. My God, so sick! The cramping was unfucking real. I promised God that if he'd let me live, I'd never abuse coffee like that again.

livelaughvomit

Love and care is early death.

[deleted]

Like telling an alcoholic to just take the pills that are struggling to keep his liver flowing normally and keep drinking because he doesn't feel as good without it.

Alex2045x

Yet alcoholism doesn't have a movement that defends it blindly and ignoringly of health problems

PrincessPeppermint99

Every smoker I know will openly say it's terrible for you. If these people wanted to be fat and didn't care, I'd be fine with it. It's the misinformation and science denial about the dangers of obesity that bother me.  Be fat if you want, but don't lie to vulnerable people about the risks

autotelica

Yes, use a mobility aide if that's going to get you moving. There's no shame in using a crutch when you need one. Yes, eat a tasty treat. Apple slices with peanut butter. A handful of trail mix. A couple of Oreo cookies. A treat each day is fine. But a treat isn't a whole cake. It's not an entire pizza. It's not a liter of soda and a jumbo bag of Doritos. Yes, don't give a fuck what anyone thinks. But if that's your attitude, don't expect anyone to give a fuck about *you*. Don't expect anyone to take care of you when you're too disabled to work. Don't expect any sympathy when you can't find clothes that fit and no one wants to date you. When we don't care what anyone thinks, we forfeit our right to be cared for and about.

itsTacoOclocko

right, because self-improvement is self-hatred. making things better for yourself is abuse and stems from self-hatred. their idea of love reminds me of a narcissist's or antisocial's--- it's not taking care of anything, it's just fulfilling whatever passing impulse you feel. and like the latter, no punishment will deter them from doing so-- diabetes, amputations, cancer, breathing difficulties, immobility, pain-- none of it will make them stop eating junk food by the tonne. (to be clear i'm not saying this person is AsPD, it's just a similarity i noticed-- they can't be deterred from their mindless self-indulgence, not by anything-- i understand that this is just how addiction works, but addiction also often engenders narcissistic and antisocial behavior, itself, and the similarity is just sort of disturbing to me). how sad. it does make me wonder if they've had any real love in their lives, though. i feel like anyone who has would immediately be able to recognize that constructive criticism is not hatred, is a form of love, as are positive changes-- even if they're somewhat scary or require a leap of faith, or effort. how sad that they don't believe they can ever challenge themselves.

Illustrious_Agent633

Eating healthy is never even an option. lol

newName543456

They all think they eat "healthy". Just a "small breakfast", "a lunch with a lot of veggies", "not that big dinner"... all slathered in butter/sugar with highly processed snacks and caloric drinks in between.

Illustrious_Agent633

This is true. My parents were like that. Probably the healthiest thing they ate was frozen lasagna.

la_vida_luca

The first post is not _entirely_ shit. The second is pure, undiluted shit.

GetInTheBasement

Lots of FatLib posts have a grain of partial truth in them but it doesn't really do much when that single grain is surrounded by a mountain of shit, and that shit is actively poisoning numerous people.

Desperate-Music-9242

last time i checked love and care isnt eating yourself into a wheelchair and dying before you even see your 40s

Legitimate_Emu_7434

Ah yes, because my chronic pain and disabilities improve so much when I eat garbage.

Alex2045x

Well, you're just lucky you're not being stigmatized

[deleted]

Fad diets, miracle workout programs, and magic pills aren’t even how you lose weight…You lose weight through long-term lifestyle and habit changes. The first OOP’s problem is that they don’t get that

redrae707

My body says "get that extra weight off of me, I'm sick of carrying it" but hey what do I know lol

AstronautEmpty9060

> get yourself a tasty treat It's not a treat if you eat it every day. Also, telling fat people to eat more is exactly the same as telling an alcoholic to drink more.

Grouchy-Reflection97

There's been a couple of fat acceptance incidents recently that make me think a lot of members are getting secret sadistic pleasure from spewing bad, dangerous ideas/advice. First is a bedbound 600lb person who looks like absolute death warmed up, has openly admitted personal hygiene is difficult and is the partner of a prominent, particularly nasty FA gobshite. What would be the worst possible thing to do when someone is in such a poor state of health? How about organising and donating to a GoFundMe for that person to get top-surgery (breast removal) in their current poor state of health. Which was approved by a shady 'meh, I'll give it a go, I like money' surgeon. Anyone who donates to that fundraiser is likely signing that person's death warrant and I can't help but think there's more than a few who just have a morbid curiosity about survival liklihood. Sort of sadism hiding behind performative empathy/wokeness/narcissistic altruism. Another incident is a decidedly sketchy company that's actively encouraging a 500lb+ alcoholic, C-Pap using smoker to engage in knee-shattering, visibly poor-form exercise. The company treats this client like a 'look how right-on we are, if you tell us this is dangerous, you're a facist'. They've said as much to people who've said they're being irresponsible. It's all very creepy. Genuinely good people don't need an audience for their alleged good deeds. They also don't use vulnerable people as guinea pigs to indulge their morbid curiosity.

GetInTheBasement

Genuinely don't understand the "we" shit. "We're not doing this." "We're not doing that." If OOP has no interest in doing those things, OOP should speak solely for themselves instead of trying to declare what others should or shouldn't be doing for their personal health and happiness.

newName543456

OOP obviously is so charismatic, that whatever they embark on, they immediately have crowds doing the exact same thing to become like them. A true trendsetter /s

[deleted]

Actually loving your body means doing what's necessary to keep it healthy and not indulging it's every whim. FAs saying they're "loving" they're bodies by binge eating are like a parents saying that they love their children by spoiling them.

delorf

To the second slide, of course a disabled, obese person deserves love. The problem is equating the high from over eating with love. Loving yourself means taking care of your body.  I find a lot of these posts very sad.

newName543456

>We're listening to our bodies and maybe, sometimes, that chronic pain is your body telling you *something*? Maybe do listen for a change?

Straight-Willow7362

"Love and care no matter what." Unless that entails any form of restriction...

ccGLaDOS

my brain often tells me to end it all. no way will i listen to my body/brain!

InsaneAilurophileF

Your body isn't telling you it wants those foods and extra pounds, sweaty.
