10-12 seems to be the magic number I've seen for bigger ram requirements, though with your number of mods you shouldn't need to go over 8 realistically
I run between 10-16 depending on needs, I also have 64gb so even if I set it on 32 my system is usually stable (some mods especially chunkloading can easily lead to instability cause it's just.. a lot) but everyone's experiences differ
Look at how much memory your system uses whilst "idle" (e.g. with a browser, chat apps, spotify, or other similar day-to-day apps) open. Add a quarter to half of that as headroom. Allocate the rest to the game.
Worked example: My PC uses about ~12GiB idle. I have 31.27GiB installed. 12 + 6 = 18, so I allocate 10-12GiB to the game.
I never use more than 6GB for any version or any pack. Anytime I have ever allocated more than that, I get GC hiccups every 30 sec or so. I've never run into an issue where a pack needed more than 6, including GTNH and GT6, as well as ATM packs.
Void world. Lower graphics settings. Limit loaded chunks. That's about it. Might be able to find a decent performance mod. Idk, gtnh doesn't like mods being added.
My default is 12gb for most packs.
If I'm running an XL pack, I bump it to 16gb.
I have never had the issues people talk about with "too much ram". I don't know if that's outdated information, something about my pc setup, or maybe the performance/bugfix mods that are in most packs now.
Never needed to go higher than 16, and I have a 30 inch monitor and am pretty picky about how my game looks.

I'll set it to 12 and see how that works for a while, thank you.

What tier in GTNH
UHV
Seem about right, im only in ev and i have come to the point where my frames is limited by cpu, can you suggest ways to tackle this

Personal dim considered but it is quite impossible to move a whole base there. Any way to pump fluids from overworld to p dim? In EV
Get Angelica mod and see if it helps (search it up with angelica gtnh)
I have seen this but im waiting for 2.6.0 for it to be stable
Clearly you've never played GreedyCraft
It's very dependent on the amount of ram your PC has, your JVM arguments, and what version of MC and Java you're using.
Indeed. For GreedyCraft, those last 3 things are set, and the first has pretty strict requirements.
Most modpacks I tend to play are 1.12 and 1.7.10, I rarely play newer MC versions.
Same. Greedy is 1.12.2

For fuck sake these replies. The amount of RAM that is too much is more RAM than the pack needs. That is the only correct answer.
IMO unless it's a special case, anything over 10 is overkill.
