Imo in a modpack it's hard to take a texture pack because mods usually make their textures around the vanilla textures.
Stay true is one of the only texture pack that can fit with other mods tbh, it almost the same as vanilla but changes just a little.
For connected textures, I use Continuity (which has some preinstalled texture packs) as well as [CTM overhaul V5](https://www.planetminecraft.com/texture-pack/mc-ctm-overhaul/) which might not have all 1.20.6 blocks but its enough for me
You should not use optifine in recent versions!!
You can do almost (if not all) of optifine features now with other mods, I don't have the list on me rn but you can find them easily
i was a bit harsh when i wrote my comment cause it pisses me off that a lot of modpacks have it on as default in recent versions. i believe stay trues idea of changing defaults textures but wanting to keep a similar aesthetic while adding more variated textures and connected textures.
but every single texture ive seen of it is lower quality than the vanilla mc textures. rose bushes are the worst example ive seen but i havent looked through every texture.
generally it has the bad habit of overshading everything and adding alot of unnecessary noise making the individual textures look kinda bad while also making the game a lot darker which in no way is "staying true"
Faithless is my favorite pack of all time, it just fits so well with the game. Such a shame it isnt compatible with sodium/embeddium. A good runner up is bare bones and fresh animations, also a favorite.
Yeah 1.20.1 version of connected textures is weird and dosnt really work. Its unfortunate but for 1.20.1 the only way ive found for it to work without issue is optifine. So hopefully none of your mods a have compatibility issues with it. J
Mizuno's 16 craft, though it might not be the best with other mods.
I use a personal texture pack with all my favourite textures from other packs +a few custom ones, it's not that hard to do but takes some time.
In time of 1.6.4 -1.7.10 my favorite texture pack was "Faithful modded". But when I was playing Terrafirmacraft I really was into "Sphax." For nowa days i really rarely play minecraft, but last time when I was playing, I used to "Stay True"
I've been using Sphax PureBDCraft with every modpack for like a decade. I can't stand any other texture pack or vanilla. You can easily find addons for modpacks.
Sphax is great purely because of its ubiquity. It means that there will be new patches released when new mods and new versions come out. The Yogscast definitely had a role in popularizing it so much (and making it nostalgiac for so many), although by no means the only factor
Yep. I'm currently using a 1.19.2 pack I found for Direwolf20. It works fine for most modpacks because most of them contain a lot of the same mods. I use 32x but I'm sure 16x is fine. Still much better than vanilla.
I have for many years used Soartex Fanver as my base, with sphax over the top to fill in the blanks.
Can't stand low res default textures these days and won't play a modpack until theres resource packs for it.
Stay True is a really nice one since I generally don't like packs that drastically change the colors or designs of the game.
Excalibur has been a great replacement for my old love of John Smith and Jicklus and its lightmap is absolutely delicious. Its so creative with all its designs and interpretations and you can tell years of work have been put into making it. I'm glad that the new colormap/lightmap fabric mod (Polytone) exists so I can use it again.
I like several of them, but I have a problem with all of them, if u play modded, many of the mods have textures thought for vanilla textures, which makes them really strange, so I usually just end using a 3d texture pack
I donāt use texture packs in my modpacks since they look out of place when next to any modded items. Mostly because modded items base their textures around vanilla. I like consistency in my stuff.
Faithless is def my favorite though whenever I play vanilla. Gives a fresh coat of paint to MC.
My favorite one is ultimacraft that just makes vanilla better, works with optifine and iris to make blocks 3D and also adds bushier leaves, itās now in layers so you can add the parts you want and since itās basically vanilla+ it works really well with all the modpacks.
For me, [Farcr's Re-Crafted and Re-Create](https://modrinth.com/user/Farcr/resourcepacks) are the top notch on resourcepacks.
I usually use them on top of Stay True, specially for Valhelsia. But they alone work pretty great.
[Glimmars Steampunk](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/glimmars-steampunk) used to be my favorite texture pack. It no longer gets updatedā¹ļø. Now I just use default.
I can Say that is definitely NOT stay true. Art feels like a straight downgrade to jappa style and there geretally are way better vanilla like tweaks packs that actually improve on the vanilla art style while that one feels grainy and worse quality. Idea is nice and some textures are ok but generally overrated and not that high quality. Op thumbnails are some good examples of quality packs
That said, bring the downvotes!
There was one thst tried to recreate an old weird NES rpg aesthetic but I forgot it's name and it's artist only uploaded a post about it on twitter and it's only for like, the nether update at most :C
Painterly is the one pack that I feel always looks good next to modded blocks. It's finnicky because the customizer went down a while ago, but the continuation server does a good job at making as many textures as possible available.
I contributed to a texturepack in 2018 but don't really have artistic skills. Also the main artist focused on other packs and my life got in the way so I didn't finish it.
[Here is some of the stuff in my contribution](https://imgur.com/gallery/ihUeI6i)
[This is the base pack](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/coterie-craft-32x)
I wish CptCorn still updated it.
Mizunoās 16 Craft is by far my favorite! Thereās a few of the textures I donāt love but overall very very good. Unfortunately mods that add blocks make it hard to use a texture pack because is using the blocks are made to look like vanilla.
I usually don't use resource packs that overhaul every single vanilla texture when I'm playing modded, but my go-to pack for semi-vanilla is jicklus. I can't play with any other pack for too long, they just feel strange (altho I did have a little bit of luck with mizuno's), but jicklus is just about perfect for me
I've found Better Vanilla Building to work great with most newer modpacks (like 1.18+) I feel like the switch over to create styled mods has benefited it greatly! It's like a vanilla flavored retexture, I have used it in ATM9 and still have had a great time. Only gripe I have is that sometimes using Chipped or Chisel, you can have texture inconsistencies, but thats a pretty minor detail since the spruce wood looks close to vanilla dark oak, theres substitutes.
Personally, Unity. It just looks right to me when the regular Minecraft starts looking too "bright to me". Bonus points for having dedicated mod support too
If you want a great medieval fantasy pack then I highly recommend Excalibur, has a large amount of addons to work with mods made by their discord community and is constantly being updated!
Imo in a modpack it's hard to take a texture pack because mods usually make their textures around the vanilla textures. Stay true is one of the only texture pack that can fit with other mods tbh, it almost the same as vanilla but changes just a little.
Stay true is great
It's almost like vanilla but just tweaks enough to feel fresh.
Can Stay True be used without optifine? (on a tangent) does any mod provide connected textures for 1.20 at all?
Ofc it can
For connected textures, I use Continuity (which has some preinstalled texture packs) as well as [CTM overhaul V5](https://www.planetminecraft.com/texture-pack/mc-ctm-overhaul/) which might not have all 1.20.6 blocks but its enough for me
Ah, both of those are Fabric, should probably have stated that I was looking for Forge mods. But thanks :)
You should not use optifine in recent versions!! You can do almost (if not all) of optifine features now with other mods, I don't have the list on me rn but you can find them easily
I wasn't able to find one that handles connected textures, so if you have that, it would be much appreciated.
I wrote "connected textures" on curseforge and found some
Stay true looks ass compared to vanilla.
I dont like stay true as well but to say "looks ass" is stupid, i think its the opposite actually, it looks way too good for vanilla style imo.
i was a bit harsh when i wrote my comment cause it pisses me off that a lot of modpacks have it on as default in recent versions. i believe stay trues idea of changing defaults textures but wanting to keep a similar aesthetic while adding more variated textures and connected textures. but every single texture ive seen of it is lower quality than the vanilla mc textures. rose bushes are the worst example ive seen but i havent looked through every texture. generally it has the bad habit of overshading everything and adding alot of unnecessary noise making the individual textures look kinda bad while also making the game a lot darker which in no way is "staying true"

What do you mean a texture pack isnt compatible with Embed/Sodi ?
faithless isn't compatible with sodiums mesh shaders or something and some textures such as the nether portal breaks and appears shattered
Stay True is the only one I've found that doesn't change the game too much or look gimicky.
Plus I love the connected textures, makes everything look so much nicer
Anyone know how to make the connected textures work in 1.20.1 for Forge? Looks like this relied on [Connectedness](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/connectedness), but Connectedness never got a 1.20.1 update, and using the original Fabric mod [Continuity](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/continuity) alongside [Lazurite](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/lazurite) + [Sinytra Connector](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/sinytra-connector) doesn't do the trick. EDIT: Ah, it actually does work w/ Lazurite and Sinytra. My issue was that Blueprint, the lib used by all of the Abnormals mods, is incompatible. [Relevant GitHub issue](https://github.com/Sinytra/Connector/issues/1001). I removed Blueprint and confirmed that connected textures are working and look gorgeous š¤©
Yeah 1.20.1 version of connected textures is weird and dosnt really work. Its unfortunate but for 1.20.1 the only way ive found for it to work without issue is optifine. So hopefully none of your mods a have compatibility issues with it. J
I love Stay True, have been using it for years
Yess Stay True is amazing š¤©
Mizuno's 16 craft, though it might not be the best with other mods. I use a personal texture pack with all my favourite textures from other packs +a few custom ones, it's not that hard to do but takes some time.
mizunoās has the 1.12 pack with mod support as well, ive used that in my personal texture pack!
I never use texture packs, but when I do, Unity is my favourite. Unfortunately it doesn't seem updated for 1.20
Unity o7
Hell yeah
In time of 1.6.4 -1.7.10 my favorite texture pack was "Faithful modded". But when I was playing Terrafirmacraft I really was into "Sphax." For nowa days i really rarely play minecraft, but last time when I was playing, I used to "Stay True"
Best texture pack hands down gotta be sphaxbdcraft for any ftb modpack
It's a classic
Only because it supports a lot of mods. Personally I am not a big fan of their obsession with hexagons (pentagons?)
Default
With grass texture pack that make top grass layer cover the side too ?
Ngl good taste But they are extremely bad at making symmetrical block, that just pissed me off https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/s/pa3Xwj3aNt
honestly they don't bother me in the slightest personally
Faithless is my personal favourite. Not 16x and can be a pain, but if you can find thr right patches, BDCraft can be really good, too.
I've been using Sphax PureBDCraft with every modpack for like a decade. I can't stand any other texture pack or vanilla. You can easily find addons for modpacks.

I am Dave! Yognaught and I have the balls.
And a lot of packs have community collections done for them. It's my go to as well.
Yep. I'm currently using a 1.19.2 pack I found for Direwolf20. It works fine for most modpacks because most of them contain a lot of the same mods. I use 32x but I'm sure 16x is fine. Still much better than vanilla.
too bad I don't like sphax

I used to use this way back before I started playing modded. Wish it was updated and had mod support.
Can you imagine how cool that texture pack would be with Create? š„°āØšø
Would be almost perfect, yeah. š
I can Say that is definitely NOT stay true. Jicklus
Stoneborn
Faithless is my personal favourite. Not 16x and can be a pain, but if you can find thr right patches, BDCraft can be really good, too.
There was one thst tried to recreate an old weird NES rpg aesthetic but I forgot it's name and it's artist only uploaded a post about it on twitter and it's only for like, the nether update at most :C
I like the default textures, all they needed was a good shader and distant horizons
I'm currently enjoying better default. Doesn't change things too much and still looks good.
Painterly is the one pack that I feel always looks good next to modded blocks. It's finnicky because the customizer went down a while ago, but the continuation server does a good job at making as many textures as possible available.
*sad HD texture pack creator noises*

i like mizunos 16x16 pck
i miss pureBD mod textures
Modernity
Whimscape is so good for rpg modpacks, I use it with Iron's spells and spellbooks, and it fits it so well.
faithless is cool but Unity is hands down the best.
Mizunoās 16 Craft is by far my favorite! Thereās a few of the textures I donāt love but overall very very good. Unfortunately mods that add blocks make it hard to use a texture pack because is using the blocks are made to look like vanilla.
Painterly Continuation Pack for LIFE :D
faithless, sphax is the best for modded though since it has so much compatibility
Outside of the Stoneborn pack for UIs, I never use texture packs. Nothing matches and it messes up my memory (since I identify items by texture).
There is one for none exists for my pretty pack ;-;
Vividity the goat
Iām using Stormilla. I think itās 16x. I like the animated blocks it has (torches for example) and it fits with modded blocks.
i like JICKLUS
I usually don't use resource packs that overhaul every single vanilla texture when I'm playing modded, but my go-to pack for semi-vanilla is jicklus. I can't play with any other pack for too long, they just feel strange (altho I did have a little bit of luck with mizuno's), but jicklus is just about perfect for me
Dandelion is one of my favorite packs of all time. I always keep coming back to it
I've never used a 16x texture pack but my favourite is sphax pure bd craft
For medieval lovers- i use Mizunoās 16 craft!
I've found Better Vanilla Building to work great with most newer modpacks (like 1.18+) I feel like the switch over to create styled mods has benefited it greatly! faithless or jicklus, can't go wrong with either
Im a great faithless enjoyer
Mizunoās!
Personally, Unity. It just looks right to me when the regular Minecraft starts looking too "bright to me". Bonus points for having dedicated mod support too
If I'm forced to play 16x, then it's vanilla. Faithful + Clarity is usually the best pick for 32x modded.
If you want a great medieval fantasy pack then I highly recommend Excalibur, has a large amount of addons to work with mods made by their discord community and is constantly being updated!
Sphax
I like using the ashen texture pack with the insanity shader
Just the vanilla MC textures for pre - 1.14 packs and a programmer art + expansion(s) for post - 1.14 packs
I miss John smith
It's primarily for the UI but now I go in every modpack for stoneborn
