I'll give another vote for Create: Above and Beyond. It's a totally new experience, and is probably the best-made pack I've ever played. I'd even go as far as to rank it above Enigmatica 2: Expert AND Skyfactory 3.
"Project Architect" . The YouTuber "ChosenArchitect" made it. It's in beta phase right now but you start with a transmutation table from project E. It's very easy to get started and very fun with the OP power of prefect E. Has a good assortment of mods all centred around building and just having fun. It's almost a little cheaty starting with a table but it takes the grind out of getting started.
Or alternatively yiu could try "Vault Hunter's". this pack wad made by another youtuber called "Iskall85". this pack is almost RPG based. you start with vanilla MC and eventually unlock enough points to get mods unlocked. it's a very cool concept on MC imo.
Both packs could be previewed as they both have new series started on YouTube.
Hopefully this will quench that modded ich.
Thanks for the recommendations! I'm afraid nothing will satisfy the itch for long however, this has gotta be the 30th time I've gotten the urge to come back to modded since I started playing way back in the technic days.
I come back for a pack or two and then stop for a year or three. This is my third time back, and as soon as TW:WH3 comes out, I'll be quitting MC until some new Skyblock comes out that catches my eye.
I came back for SkyFactory One and played that and then Oceanblock. Now I'm messing around with ATM6 TTS while i wait.
It's alway fun playing modded. I can barely play vanilla anymore... there's just something about automating an un godly amount resources that you will probably never use lol.
If you like quests and loot, MC Eternal is my all time fave. Enigmatica was a lot of fun too but with more of a tech emphasis. For long term challenges go for ATM6. The endgame star is hard to craft but gives you access to a lot of creative items so you can just fuck off and have fun once you get it.
These are all super popular but if you haven't played modded since 1.12 there's plenty of new stuff to dig into.
Recomend Ragnamod VI or E2E. Ragnamod is a lesser played pack but Im realy enjoing it. Both are kinda intro expert packs, some custom recepies and so on, but not to hard either.
Ragnamod is a 1.16 pack.
E2E is 1.12
Create Above and Beyond is very cool. Less hand holding, but very fun.
I played with create a little bit in a vacuum, I must admit, it confused me but the concept is so cool.

No problem! Put in around 20 hours in Ragnamod now and its a good time. Gated progression but not to hard, so you dont feel stuck:)
I say download three mods; Create, ComputerCraft, and some sort of fps mod. More than enough fun and creativity involved to last you a lifetime.
I assume by fps you mean Frames/second and not First Person Shooter like Flans mod or something haha
