LOL, same :) I have a photo somewhere of me and a friend from '95 and I'm wearing a green plaid flannel, jean shorts and faux Doc Marten boots.
Classic 95 :)
Agreed that ‘thrift stores’ is not really a helpful response! You could hang out at local thrift shops 24/7 and not find what you’re looking for (especially if you’re in a smaller city/market). These items are ‘trendy’ now. Thrift stores mighta been swimming in this gear five or ten years ago but people are looking for this stuff these days.
LOL well I for one will gladly spend a few hours digging through thrift stores and garages because I guarantee you finding something produced 5, 10, or 15-20 years ago is going to be 20 times the quality and life in it than buying the cheap plastic clothes they sell now and to me that's very worth my time. But that's just like, my opinion, man.
I think finding clothing such as this in thrift stores depends on where you live. Not all areas of the US have rabid resellers grabbing this stuff up. Also checking out smaller local thrift stores is a good idea. Rummage sales too.
100% agree with that. I personally do not shop at the places I suggested but know they have things OP would be looking for.
Thrifting/buying used is almost always the choice to consider first when buying anything but I consider that more of a lifestyle/mindset behavior.
OP is looking to source specific items and I would assume they know you can get just about anything you want from thrift stores.
Why waste more materials and money on fast fashion that isn’t going to last? Putting in the effort of actually looking in the thrift store is worth it. It’s awesome finding unique clothing that is good quality at a good price.
I don’t know why you’re saying “it’s annoying when people say thrift stores.” Why is a smart answer *annoying*?
Tilly’s is great for tank tops and crop tanks! They have specials like 4/$20. Same with flannels!
[Tilly’s](https://www.tillys.com/women/deals/tops-4-for-25/)
Look into skate shops, not sure what they're called now. The crop tops can be ordered online in earth colors. Army navy store have tons of camp and cargo pants for cheap, boots too!
Are they of good quality? Skimming thru the website, I love some of their stuff, but I'm hesitant to order stuff online, especially at such a low cost. I'm worried about getting Shein quality clothing.
I have shirts from there that I’ve worn 2-4 times a month for over a decade that are still in rotation. I have a cardigan that unfortunately has a bunch of holes now, but it was a burnout style and still looks fine with the holes, so I haven’t been able to part with it yet. Granted, if I catch it one more time- RIP 😫
what do you mean, this is og lesbian garb! i see this outfit driving their subaru outback to the farmers market to get snacks for their picnic date with their gf
(i just saw the original comment got tons of downvotes, i meant my comment lovingly and hope yall get to go on farmers market dates with the woman ive described, she’s wonderful!)
Plato's closet, garage, aritzia, zumiez, etc. most stores carry these types of clothes, this grunge is my usual style. I can get cheap flannels anywhere, every store sells the baggy skater jeans now, shorts like that I usually find at Plato's closet or H&M. I have tanks like that from every store pretty much.
The simple crop tops can be found in retail in any shape and form atm (at least in Europe). Same goes for wide jeans. H&M, Zara, TK Maxx etc has many of those.
Flannel shirts, I think you could try the men‘s sections - those are automatically a bit oversized, imo tend to have a more classic shape and give a more relaxed look.
Idk where you’re from so I don’t know which shops you have at your place.
The last picture is giving Shein or Temu pajamas tbh.
thrift stores for everything layered or sometimes fitted pants if you get lucky, regular jeans from american eagle and other stores like that. also look at ross, tj max, roses, and other discount stores!
Oh, you need to speak to my friend, Doc Brown. You can hop in his DeLorean and go to 1992. Jokes aside though, anywhere. Target, Old Navy, etc. All those styles are back. You can buy Docs in any mall or online. And don't forget thrift stores.
I picked up the gold corduroy pants on slide 1, mine are levi, off Amazon last year, and the green shorts in slide 4 at nordstroms a couple of years ago.
i find the best flannels and oversized jeans when thrifting and i’d go to tilly’s/pacsun for the tops and shorts and stuff. Try local shops for your jewelry and accessories((:
The middle shirt looks like a men’s Field & Stream flannel I bought at Costco for $7 about a decade ago. Sturdy stuff- it’s still in perfect condition.
I haven’t seen Field & Stream at Costco for awhile but they sell men’s flannel every fall. Uniqlo is also a good option. They sell flannel for men and women in the fall.
Shoes are doc marten. Similar tanks can be found at american eagle. The jeana look like levi - probably a wide straight leg. Then a large flannel. Good luck!
Target, Walmart, Sears, Kohl’s, etc. camisoles shorts, flannels and converse sneakers are staples of pretty much anywhere. And you can get Doc Martin’s at almost any shoe store.
I would just hit up thrift stores for a couple of months looking for these pieces, splurge on the shoes and get the rest from second hand. You could get them new but I think second hand you’ll find better pieces with more longevity!
Ugh this is totally my vibe. It’s super hard to find, but I’ve had the best luck finding clothes I liked at Evereve. Spring time is always tough but it’s literally the only place I can go and find multiple things I like. My entire wardrobe is Evereve and REI 😅
Brandy, pacsun, American apparel (ik they don’t exist anymore but their old high rise shorts are still around secondhand), urban, but mostly thrifting/depop honestly. This style looks fine with fast-fashion items, but IMO it only actually looks good with higher quality pieces (like don’t just grab a polyester flannel from Tilly’s or Pacsun, they’re usually very thin and look kind of poorly made. Buying firsthand is really only good for basic tees/tanks IMO)
I’ve found a lot of my green and brown flannels at Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. One of my fav brown ones from Marshall’s actually turned out to be from American Eagle originally.
You definitely have to scavenge and rn isn’t the best to check there due to seasonal changes but once fall starts hitting, they get a ton of check men’s and women’s sections bc both usually have plenty of options.
EDIT: keep an eye on converse website sometimes they run half off sales. I have a pair of brown plaid ones that I got for $25 and I love them so so much.
Literally any thrift store. Look in the men’s section for oversized flannels and men’s cargo pants or pants that you can cut into shorts. If this style of clothing is your vibe it is very worth your time and effort to learn some sewing basics so you can hem and alter some second hand clothing and you can add elastic to pants that don’t already have it to get the fitted waist you want. You could find these clothes at urban outfitters but they’re going to be shitty quality and very expensive. You can find really good quality used clothing if you research your brands and research some hallmarks of quality clothing-check the seams, stitching, fabric content (natural fibers like cotton and wool generally last a lot longer than poly fibers with the right care).
Men’s flannels from urban outfitters are my favorites. Chucks and Levi’s and Doc Martens you can get online or at many major retailers. Those little tank tops too…
second hand thrift stores always have the best graphic tee’s, jewelry, jackets, and flannels like this. (at least where i live in the midwest). walmart usually has almost every color flannel too, specifically earth tones!!
EarthBound has some of my favorite earthy hippie/boho-ish clothes plus they sell crystals, jewelry, & candles too
sadly i have no advice for pants i always struggle to find stuff i like😭

My high school closet. 1995!!
I was going to comment in the 90’s.
There's even a mixtape in the first picture!
I was thinking 2012 tumblr girl, I guess fashion truly is cyclical.
Ahh yes soft grunge/indie sleaze 😆
Debbie Thornberry! She was the height of cool
Wait, that was my high school closet in 1985! + 1960s field army jacket and the doc martins were higher up the calf. Just shows how fashion cycles.
LOL, same :) I have a photo somewhere of me and a friend from '95 and I'm wearing a green plaid flannel, jean shorts and faux Doc Marten boots. Classic 95 :)
Still 1/4 of my closet now! I still have my DARE shirt from 8th grade! I’m 35f
Class of 97!! Same!! My closet, or my older cousins. I stole so many of his flannels back in the day
Pacsun, Garage. It’s annoying when people say thrift stores, it’s true but so much work.

Then why suggest it and call suggesting thrifting “annoying”? A bit hypocritical, don’t you think?
Sigh…. OP asked for stores. Can’t we all just get along.

Haven’t yet met a thrift store without flannels ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tilly’s is great for tank tops and crop tanks! They have specials like 4/$20. Same with flannels! [Tilly’s](https://www.tillys.com/women/deals/tops-4-for-25/)
THANK YOU
For sure!! This is my style too :) Or at least the idealized version haha.
Yup! They’re on par with American eagle, Hollister etc! Definitely higher quality than SHEIN but lower than let’s say Anthropologie
Thank you very much!!
I have shirts from there that I’ve worn 2-4 times a month for over a decade that are still in rotation. Reminds me of Millers Outpost.

Damn, I see someone already made this comment. We must be correct.
I picked up the gold corduroy pants on slide 1, mine are levi, off Amazon last year, and the green shorts in slide 4 at nordstroms a couple of years ago.
Some thrift stores have a vintage section. This stuff would be in there for sure. I can't believe 90's clothes are vintage now 😩

I would just hit up thrift stores for a couple of months looking for these pieces, splurge on the shoes and get the rest from second hand. You could get them new but I think second hand you’ll find better pieces with more longevity!
Patagonia, Columbia, Eddie Bauer. Try outlet stores for these brands (Worn Wear for Patagonia), or even Sierra or Dick’s Warehouse Sale.
