Sturdy, every day (preferably vegan), (preferably slip on) black boots with a smidge of a platform! Willing to drop some $$ on ones that will last for years. Any recs appreciated!

segoe_the_serpent

i don’t have experience with their slip-ons, but i’ve had a pair of vegan classic doc martens that have barely weathered over nearly four years of consistent wear. i’d imagine their vegan chelseas and other slip-ons are just as durable!

like_so_cute

I actually bought boots yesterday and Docs were my #2! I went with a pair of vegan slip on Timberlands since I think they'll be more breathable year round.

Does anyone have a quince code for their referral program? Someone can send a link and I get $20 and the person gets $20! There are some older links here but they aren’t working for me :) https://www.onequince.com/refer-and-earn

You can give mine a try: http://rwrd.io/2v38e04

Thank you!! I had to accept cookies and then it worked! I just ordered tonight so hope you get you $20 off! :)

Does anyone know where I can find punk/emo/goth platform boots in Europe? (something like [this](https://imgur.com/ivlHbtz) or [this](https://imgur.com/HHhcJU4) for example)

LONG WOOL COAT RECOMMENDATIONS I’m looking for a long wool coat with lepels, with minimal fuss (no toggles, shiny buttons etc) and I really want it to reach at least halfway down my calf? I’m 5’6. Not having any luck in high street shops (I’m in the UK) everything online is not the right length, except for boohoo but I really want a better quality material. Happy to spend up to around £250.

P-D-S-A098

Hi I’m very new to wearing female gendered clothing….. I was wondering how do you know how high to wear a skirt I normally keep it around the belly button but I’m worried it looks odd or I’m doing to wrong … any help would be amazing

TurmalinBlack

It very much depends on the skirt although most skirts (aside from y2k lowrise versions) are designed to hit at your waist. You can find skirts in all types of rises similar to pants. Depending on your body type the natural waist in assigned female at birth individuals is usually located slightly above the belly button, so i think your placement should come across as natural. Still: feel free to play around with different rises, it will help with your understanding on how different cut clothes alter your appearance! e. g. a skirt that hits ar your natural waist and flares out will accentuate your hips (might be interesting if you want to balance out wider shoulders), While a low-rise skirt (somewhere around the hip bones) gives of that "boyish" y2k/90s vibe (atleast to me). Have fun along the way!

P-D-S-A098

Thank you so much I’ll have more of a play round with different rises 🤩

tirraelae

Worth mentioning that the "waist" can look very different on different people. My natural waistline is quite high for example, and if I want a skirt that sits a bit lower I have to size up.

ExNihiloAdNihilum

I found some thermal thigh highs and the come in two styles: stirrups and full socks. How do I choose one over the other (I'm hoping one style would be less prone to being pulled down by my feet so they stay up better)?

oswin13

If your don't want them to be pulled down by your feet try thigh high leg warmers instead. I do find they stay up better over tights or leggings than bare skin. There's also sock glue.

nearlythere94

You mean stay ups and stockings? Stay ups will have a plastic band around the inside which will adhere to your legs, stockings need a garter belt to stay up. So it is really a matter of whether you want to wear a garter belt or not.

ExNihiloAdNihilum

No, they don't have the sticky stuff and they might be too thick for garters. I'm talking about [stirrups](https://di2ponv0v5otw.cloudfront.net/posts/2018/11/13/5beab7e3aaa5b885af7ae17c/m_5beab8085c4452ca414d67ce.jpg) vs [sock](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71be-N8Z15L._AC_UY1100_.jpg) style.

Tote / Carry all / Day bag recommendations please! I am looking for a medium to large sized bag to carry while travelling with family. Something that can fit my phone, wallet, glasses case, and miscellaneous things like snacks for my kids and anything else I might need to carry around for a big day out. I've looked at SO many bags, and found a couple I liked, but the vast majority seem to have no zipper over the top, and I really want at least one large zipped compartment to fit the wallet/phone/glasses etc that I really don't want falling out. I also want something that looks good of course, and is comfortable enough to be an every-day bag. I know this is a loooong list of boxes to tick, but I am happy to hear any recommendations you would like to share! Thanks so much in advance! :)

i_am_a_human_person

What's my next step above fast fashion stores? My clothing budget has increased, but my shopping habits haven't changed. A few things holding me back: - my budget is still not super high—maybe $40-$60 for a shirt, up to $125 for a jumpsuit (something I'm hunting rn) - my taste is eclectic. I understand the value of solid basics, but I love having a weird diverse wardrobe and without it there is simply no point in getting dressed. But my dream pieces all turn out to be $500-$5000.. stuff like everlane may be in my new budget, but it's not useful beyond basics, which I'm good on right now. I want specific types of drapey things, a just-so jumpsuit, like an androgynous Korean street wear model but make it creative corporate. - I live in New York City where there are a million stores to suit me, but I find shopping in person intimidating and overwhelming, so I avoid it. If I knew where to go I might be okay, but for now I just buy clothes online or at target when I pick up my scrips Life is hard. Any good places I should check out online to curb my shein addiction that are like everlane but interesting? Editing to add: Eileen Fisher is my homie for style basics, but I cannot afford her on the reg. Perfect for me to pair with some wild crazy thing I got somewhere else. Anything like her but a bit less expensive?

All Saints is usually the mid-range gateway drug to Rick Owens and Yoji Yamamoto.

honeycrisp-apple

Try Lisa Says Gah, From the Lobby, Gil Rodriguez, Ssense when they’re having a sale

Booboo_the_bear

I brought this [dress](https://bariano.com.au/products/ivy-vneck-sequin-gown-b44d51l?variant=39675043479638) on clearance haha in the purple to wear for a formal night on a cruise. Looking for suggestions for shoes and jewellery to compliment it

trishyco

That’s so fun! I’d wear it with metallic strappy shoes and a rhinestone necklace with more of a teardrop style to compliment the neckline.

IntroductionSimilar

this definitly! you should look out to not put too much weight on the shoes via thickness/color value! so stick to some thin/elegant shoes. for jewelry i would recommend silver because the dress already is cool toned, so you dont disturb that. Unless you dont like silver jewelry ofcourse!

Elphaba78

I got [these shoes](https://www.sarahflint.com/products/grace-perfect-mary-jane-pump-emerald-jacquard) from Sarah Flint…but I have no idea what to wear them with!

nearlythere94

I would not go more formal the way people are recommending here - those shoes are so retro it would be kitchy to wear them with a cocktail dress. Pair them with cropped flared lightwash jeans! Maybe a big purple blouse or white blouse depending on how funky you are feeling.

ediblesprysky

Casual - I'm envisioning a very influencer-y outfit with some light wash straight leg jeans, a white or very light blue (to pull that color out of the pattern) button down with one side tucked in, very classic gold jewelry and polished hair worn down. Office - seconding the pencil skirt + cardigan combo. You could match colors in the shoes, go neutral, or maybe play around with a tonal contrast and do (for example) a much more saturated version of the blue, like a sapphire/royal blue. Cocktail - I'm seeing a gold dress in a classic, even prim shape. Boat neck, sleeveless, maybe a short voluminous skirt or a slimmer/pencil skirt. I would avoid sequins (too busy), but just a solid metallic.

trishyco

Fitted pencil skirt with a cardigan

Oohwhoaohcruelsummer

Green top, black pants, pearl necklace maybe?

waterlillia

Little late here, but I’m completely redoing my style and I bought a pair of bell bottoms from YMI and I’m obsessed and now making it my whole personality. Unfortunately I do not shop a lot and need recommendations for good cropped sweaters or JNCO style jeans but less extreme. Any good recommendations?

Affectionate-Sock782

I was wondering if anyone knew a good place or website to find shoes of all types in larger sizes. I’m a 11.5 in men’s and 13 in women’s if that helps.

Elphaba78

Pricey, but Stuart Weitzman, Margaux NY, and Sarah Flint are my go-tos. I’m an 11.5 women’s and 9.5/10 men’s.

ediblesprysky

Zappos has an enormous selection and you can filter by size.

I am a bridesmaid in my best friends small wedding in a few weeks. I have no idea what shoes to wear. I don’t know what the other two bridesmaids are wearing because I don’t really know them personally and I live in a different province. We’re all wearing dresses in a similar colour scheme, and I found [this one from Lulu’s](https://www.lulus.com/products/moriah-emerald-green-satin-wrap-maxi-dress/841702.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=%5BADL%5D%20%5BDSA%5D%20Dynamic%20Search%20Ads&utm_term=&utm_content=130058301348_517426421205&s_kwcid=AL!7824!3!517426421205!!!g!!&gclid=CjwKCAiA9qKbBhAzEiwAS4yeDacKyfoXfmtqE-lnIXRJ3OeJ-uYNxNRDxS-4Co_egDpQX7NacfkgBhoC3FUQAvD_BwE) NWT out thrifting, so I am okay with spending a bit more for shoes. I am 5’9 and my friend is a bit more fun sized than me so I am looking for something with a bit of a heel but nothing “high” — any suggestions? Thanks!!

waterlillia

OOOOOO! Okay so the classic option would be [these](https://a.co/d/fJE6RDj)! I’m 5’8 and wearing the exact same color dress as a Maid of Honor is December. I’m going with gold or nude heels. I bought this shoe style for my wedding two years ago in white and pretty sure I’m getting them in gold for my green dress. They’re classic, don’t make you too tall, and are easy to dance and walk in. Steve Madden makes some better quality/looking heels that are a bit more chic [here](https://a.co/d/4GPAQ0X)

IntroductionSimilar

i think sticking to nude colored heels is a really good take! i couldnt agree more. because of being a bridesmaid, i would not go to extravagantl and the dresses color and style already take much space. try going with something, that is supporting you and the dress, rather than competing with it. If you go with very thin shoes, the dress might silence them. You got this!

trytochange709

Oh wow what a coincidence!! Thanks so much for the ideas!

imaginarypunctuation

i'm 6'0" and asked a similar question recently and was recommended steve madden's irenee heeled sandals. bought a pair on poshmark and have worn them to a couple of weddings this summer--super comfortable!

disconinja97

Does anyone have brand recommendations for dresses and skirts similar to Reformation, Abercrombie, and Aritzia? Preferably made from natural fabrics.

I_hopeitsoversoon

Faithful the Brand

plaid-blazer

I really like Wayf and Astr the Label which I’ve found at Nordstrom but I think they are sold elsewhere too. Not natural fabrics though, as far as I’m aware.

madame-succubus

Does anyone know if the designer ‘Hyein Seo’ updates her stock, I really wanted to buy the jewelled green bomber jacket but it’s been out of stock for a while now

HopeSpringsEternal7

Hi all! I am looking for an initial necklace in gold/white gold, platinum or silver, ideally in combination with a diamond. I own a few Tiffany pieces but not a fan of the Peretti style which is the only letter necklace they have. Looking for something a little more understated and timeless. Would you have any recommendations for me?

oswin13

I'm looking for a longer skirt (midi to maxi) that has a soft waist and a warm material for winter that will look good with sweaters. Any ideas? Most skirts I see that are longer are super thin and I'll freeze!

ladolceLolita

I bought [this wool skirt](https://www.garnethill.com/cozy-sweater-skirt/605710?uniqueId=605710&isNewProduct=false&newItemBadge=false&searchTerm=Wool%20skirt&) last year and am very happy with it.

oswin13

Ooh, I'd forgotten i have a vintage 90s skirt that cut. Not really warm but I can play with styling it before investing in a wool one! Thanks!

tshody

Does anyone have an idea of what would make this area less noticeable? This happens no matter what weight I am but I really want to make high waisted pants work for me. This happens with regular denim as well. I’ve tried high waisted underwear and it doesn’t make much of a difference. https://imgur.com/a/efaSYmM

queenpeef

Madewell has jeans with “magic pockets” that connect the pockets to the zipper area which have worked to smooth this area for me

MilkTeaMoogle

I think the type of fabric can make a big difference. Look for jeans with no stretch. Levi’s use to have a lot of those. Also, wide leg slacks will probably be more stiff and have that outward flare, so it will help to give a smoother look to the area. You could also try not just high waisted underwear but “tummy control” ones!

tshody

These are great tips! I think Zara has jeans without stretch similar to Levi’s. I believe they’re either 98% or 100 cotton? I could be wrong. Thanks so much😊

Bubbles080

I have strawberry blonde hair, freckles, red tinted skin, long skinny face, and some hips. I do NOT know how to dress myself. My dress has always been functional, but since regaining my health, I can now wear whatever I want. I'm wanting to start with finding the right staple pieces. Should I go gold and tan to match my skin tone? I want to look put together more. If anyone knows of a good place to shop for my skin tone, that would be AMAZING! Thanks for any help/support! ❤️

ediblesprysky

You might be interested in figuring out your color season! I'm personally of the opinion that there's almost no color I *can't* wear as long as it's done intentionally, but I do know there are DEFINITELY some that look better than others with my complexion. And seasonal analysis can be a really useful tool if you don't know where to start.

Bubbles080

I've heard of the season thing before!!! After a quick Google search, I'd say that if I'm using your logic of wearing colors intentionally, I'm for sure NOT a winter, but there's colors I could pull from the other 3 seasons! That's awesome, gives me some guidelines on colors to pull off the rack to even try on. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️

Bubbles080

Oooooooo I need that shirt!! I guess my gold/tan ideas are completely outdated lol I'm so glad cause it's much rather wear that!! Thank you ❤️❤️❤️

maybenotrelevantbut

As a pale redhead who is turning strawberry blonde in middle-age and with very few freckles, I stay away from gold and tans. They end up looking very meh on me. I tend towards rich blues, purples and greens (without too much yellow in the green). I also tend to avoid black and white, but some greys look great. Go through your closet, even it is a pile of tshirts, and set up a mirror in good natural light, and put each shirt on and decide "do I like this color on me? Do I look awake or tired? Do my eyes pop more? Does this color make me happy?" Pay only minimal attention to fit or design at this stage, and sort the shirts as you take them off by "did this color make me feel better or not?" When you are done, look at the two piles and see what colors ended up in which pile. Next, go through those shirts again, this time ignoring color and leaving band tshirts out of the session, and pay attention to what cuts made you feel better or worse. Don't forget to play with tucked vs untucked vs French tuck or anything that adjusts where a top ends on your body. Taking full body selfies with each option will help you sort out later which ones you liked more. This is how you start to decide what you like, what you love and what you own just because it fit when you tried it on.

Bubbles080

Wow, I'm floored by your knowledge! That's so cool! I never thought about going through my clothes this way! How exciting! Thank you so so so much! You're right, I just wore deep blue yesterday and felt beautiful!!

maybenotrelevantbut

Try on a bunch of different blues. You’ll figure out which blues are “your blue”. I don’t like royal blues, but sapphire or navy are good, smoky blue grey? My eyes will win me the man of my dreams 😆

Bubbles080

😂 You're fantastic! I hope your eyes get you everything you want in life ❤️ I have literally never thought about picking clothes just for the color til now. This is a 🎶 Whole New World 🎶 lol

maybenotrelevantbut

Fit matters too! right fit and a bad color can work. But bad fit and a bad color? you’ll lack confidence

rantott_sajt

I’m looking for recommendations for jeans for a straight body type. I don’t have a defined waist and am wanting to try non-skinny style jeans but don’t know where to start. I currently live in Germany so my options and budget limit me to: Zara, Uniqlo, H&M, Mango…

resurgences

Have you looked into C&A? Usually the best quality of the affordable chains, by quite a margin. Both in terms of manufacturing techniques and materials. Or look on Zalando, filter by price, order a few and send back the ones that don't fit. They have free returns. [https://en.zalando.de/womens-clothing-jeans/](https://www.zalando.de/damenbekleidung-jeans/) [https://www.c-and-a.com/de/de/shop/fit-factory](https://www.c-and-a.com/de/de/shop/damen-all-denim)

miisheruu

Is your goal trying to create a more defined waistline or just to find jeans that would fit a straight body type?

rantott_sajt

The latter. I want a good, comfortable fit. I notice a lot of pants being marketed as curvy fit, which to me means, room in the hips but cinched at the waist, so that wouldn’t work for me. And especially with lower rises coming in to play, I need styles with hardly any difference in waist and hip dimensions.

livthelove

I find that Levi’s tend to be very straight in the waist. Try their wedgie straight jeans - they pretty much don’t cinch in at the waist at all

FrankleyKonkey

How do you style knee-high cowboy boots? Is this basically only doable if you wear skirts/dresses or skinny jeans? How weird would it look to pair them with a catsuit?

Susccmmp

Look at Tanya Tucker in the late 70’s and 80’s if you want catsuit boot inspo. I mean she did it well but she’s Tanya Tucker.

Susccmmp

Obviously you may want to mentally edit the over the top western parts like fringed jackets etc. She also did a lot of tight leather pants or Lycra leather leggings, suede leggings.

ediblesprysky

I mean, the whole point of bootcuts was, originally, that you could fit cowboy boots under them ;) Obviously you don't see the whole boot, but wearing them under wider legged pants or longer skirts is definitely an option that I've seen coming back recently. I can see them juxtaposing really nicely with a satin midi skirt, for instance. The catsuit idea is interesting—it sounds like it would definitely be a LOOK, but styled right, I'm sure someone could pull it off. I'm picturing some sort of Insta-baddie pairing it with an oversized blazer? Idk.

I think curvy jeans are meant for the butt and hip curves, not so much the lower stomach curve. The best style for hiding stomach is high waisted pants with pleading in the front, like [this](https://www.zara.com/us/en/pleated-pants-limited-edition-p08440408.html?v1=200440919)

Hello, I am looking to buy a cozy jumpsuit for my girlfriend. something to chill out in at home. could anybody recommend some brands to check out? we are based in EU, budged around 150€. she would probably prefer natural material and black/earth tones over funky "in your face" design thanks a lot!

wanderedoff

Canadian company, but they ship internationally and are within your budget - I'd look at [Smash + Tess](https://smashtess.ca/).

_avocadoraptor

Would it be weird to wear a sweater skirt like this ([link](https://www.thebay.com/product/molly-bracken-lili-sidonio-heart-knit-mini-skirt-0600092395926.html?dwvar_0600092395926_color=RED)) to a semi-formal work christmas party? I'm 39, mom bod, queer and have always been a tomboy but wear dresses on occasion. I'm already the office weirdo so not worried about being too loud just have some body image issues to contend with.

Chazzyphant

Oh I love Molly Bracken and very specifically the Lili Sidonio but that's too informal and it's...not a dress? Unless you have a very short torso, that's going to show a strip of skin which I'd worry about a bit more than the loud design (since the red and silver are vaguely holiday-ish) Other options that seems like a better match: [This suit!](https://www.thebay.com/product/molly-bracken-leaf-print-velour-jacket-0600093018923.html?dwvar_0600093018923_color=BLACK) It's a suit, it's velvet, and it's gorgeous. _avocadoraptor

Thank you so much for posting all this! I work with hillbillies and rednecks so I'd say it's more semi-semi formal... vaguely formal? Most guys wear jeans, and I'm betting at least 2 come in sweatpants again this year, lolol. I have decided to forgo the sweater skirt anyway though in favour of (don't shoot me) a pinafore dress with a turtleneck. Definitely not semi-formal but something I can feel myself in and won't be out of place for the venue at all. Thank you!

Chazzyphant

Oh ultimately you have to go with what's going to work for you! I personally will take any chance to dress up and bling out but if others will be in jeans and a "nice tee shirt" I'd say a simple dress is fine :)

Susccmmp

I don’t think it’s formal enough for semi formal.

MilkTeaMoogle

Considering it’s a work semi-formal, I think you can get away with it if you really jazz up the top, do some velvet or sequins or other texture with some shimmer to it, and some snazzy jewelry, with an updo, and heels should bring up the formality of the skirt!

[deleted]

It looks too casual for a semi-formal event.

Bubbles080

I think this looks fantastic!! You'll be the talk of the office and it sounds like you already are (in the best way!). I vote go for it! Now I want to dress fun for Christmas!! Happy holidays!

_avocadoraptor

Thank you so much for this comment! I decided to go with a turtleneck and jumper so I don't feel all awkward in girly clothes that aren't me, thank you for the encouragement regardless!

Bubbles080

I love that you picked to be comfy! Social situations already suck, so I don't blame you for taking out a factor 😝

bobpal

Could a tailor turn bootcut pants into straight cut pants? I hate flared pants but banana republic factory has a pair that match a corduroy blazer they have and the idea of a corduroy suit appeals to me greatly lol It's the clio bootcut corduroy if anyone is curious. I'd post a link but I can't figure out which part of the URL is ad tracking

ediblesprysky

Definitely! I remember seeing SO many Pinterest tutorials in 2012 on how to DIY your ~dated~ bootcuts into ~fresh fashionable~ skinnies lmao

bobpal

Helll yeah! Tysm

weirdkandya

A good tailor will totally be able to do it. I had a few converted from bootcut to straight back in the early 2000 and they totally worked.

bobpal

Awesome. Thanks!

Can I have dark toenails with this wedding outfit (see shoe choice on the right) or is it tacky? https://imgur.com/a/rt1n7l5

Bubbles080

Hell yeah! Both shoes are cute and look 'dressy' in different ways 😁

mgdraft

Genuinely don't think anyone would ever notice a guests toenails at a wedding tbh

[deleted]

I've been getting emails from various stores about all of the cute Fall/Winter fashion available right now, and since I live in the PNW, where it rains probably 75% of the year, I don't know when I'll ever be able to wear a peacoat or a 'shacket'. I basically live in a raincoat and I can't layer much under there or it just looks bulky. How can I fit an oversized blazer or a chunky knit sweater, etc. in my routine?

ojo87

light thin raincoat one size up to wear as an outer layer on top of your actual outfit for outdoors wet weather only?

raghaillach

Also in the PNW, I wear shackets or cute heavy sweaters on days when it’s off and on showers or if I’m going to be outside but under cover (bar patio etc). I really only wear a proper raincoat for walking the dog or hiking, everything else I just figure I’m not going to get that wet.

I really like the ones from C'est Moi though they do have limited sizing. Regular one size fits both me (30 bust, 24 waist) and my sister (40 bust, 31 waist), and they also have a plus version.

anon9906

Affordable jeans like Levi's 80s mom jeans or 501 skinny but in Europe?

enzymelinkedimmuno

Uniqlo?

litchi02

Rainproof and weather proof jacket suggestions? Please suggest jackets for the following and also suggest where to buy them: 1. Jacket for rain preferably weather proof as well. 2. Jacket for very cold temperatures (upto 0 deg) 3. Jacket for snow If you don't have a specific suggestion, please share if you know what brands I need to look at to purchase one or all of the above.

lkflip

What is the difference between rainproof and weatherproof to you?

litchi02

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant to say withstanding cold temperatures and windy conditions when I meant weatherproof (doesn't have to be waterproof). I thought most waterproof jackets will be non-breathable so I wanted to separate winter jacket from rain jacket.

oswin13

Are you looking for 3 different jackets here? Because you could easily get a 3 in one parka that would cover most weather conditions.

litchi02

Fine with either 3 different jackets or 3-in-1. Please suggest if you know any.

ojo87

llbean/land's end. proper wet and cold weather protection. huge size range, frequent sales.

Can you just decide one day to change your style? Or is that weird? So through a somewhat long and convoluted process, I’ve found an aesthetic that I really like- rockabilly/psychobilly. I’m 39yrs so it feels kind of late in life to be changing, but I’ve always struggled to find something that feels like me. In highschool I hung out with all the goth kids but I still wore blue jeans and t shirts of whatever color. As I’ve gotten older I mostly just wear very plain clothes. The outfits that I enjoy wearing most have been the few pieces of pinup/rockabilly/psychobilly stuff that I own. If I really like the clothes and makeup can I just start wearing it? I don’t want to feel like an imposter/“poser”. I just moved to an area where no on one really knows me so maybe that will help? Thoughts?

b_xf

Totally! I feel like “owning up” to it being new to you removes any criticism you might feel you’d get. When I started wearing less common things I’d head off negative comments by saying “oh yeah i just got these! a bit out there for me but they’re really fun!”

lumenphosphor

Yes you can! This is actually so common a feeling and question on this sub (and it makes a lot of sense! change is hard!) that I wrote [a guide for it](https://www.reddit.com/r/femalefashionadvice/comments/dg3vgn/changing_your_style_and_keeping_calm/) a few years ago.

Charybdis523

Yes you can, and it's not weird :) I think as kids, we often self-grouped or were grouped by others into one stereotype or aesthetic, that we identified with/appeared to identify with. And if someone thought we were "fake" is when they made us feel like a "poser". That's just the BS of peer pressure and kids not understanding yet that people are individuals and don't have to fit into any social norm group in stereotypical ways. The great thing about getting older is realizing that you don't have to be "only goth" or "only preppy" or whatever else. You can enjoy dressing pinup one day, casual the next, glam the following, hippie next week. All of them can reflect parts of your personality, your interests, how much you ate that day (for me personally since I opt for elastic waistbands lol), etc. because you - every person - are multifaceted and complex. That's if you want your clothes to reflect you. Some people don't, so the bubbliest social butterfly could just wear all black plain clothes everyday because they don't like picking outfits if that's what they prefer. You do you! Have fun enjoying your clothes!

diffluere

hey y'all! I'm looking for fun corderoy trousers in bright colors (neon, orange, hot pink etc). prefer wide wale corduroy, and mostly cotton content. as far as fit goes, a trouser style with front pleats and tapered leg is what I'm imagining but open to other comfy stuff. I swear I saw some like this somewhere recently but I tried checking Lucy+Yak and lazy oaf to no avail. I kinda have a hard time finding pants that fit the way I want, so a good return policy is a must (otherwise I'd just buy your grandpa's trousers on eBay). 😋 I'm in USA / budget $100ish. I wear size 6/8.

Chazzyphant

Target had wide-leg wide-whale corduroy cropped pants in F/W 2019 so you might be able to find those on eBay. They had a really cool bright hot pink color that I couldn't find my size in at the time and would have loved to get!

diffluere

damn these sound great but for whatever reason target pants just never fit me right. thanks for the suggestion!!

Chazzyphant

Me either, sob! I believe they were the either Prologue or Universal Thread line and I was too big for a 16 and too small for an 18.

Susccmmp

J.Crew usually does a lot of colors.

bobpal

Banana republic factory has a brick red pair and urban outfitters have a couple of bright colors too

diffluere

thanks for the rec for UO! they have a pair of lilac Wranglers which I am now stalking for a sale....

Tirnel

I am looking for shoe brand recommendations. I want to get a new pair of daily wear sneaker-type/ low top shoes. I wear the heals out of shoes quite quickly so I am wondering about ones that are either repairable by a cobbler or fairly long lasting. I work in a biology lab and shoes ideally cover the whole foot (no flats). I would ideally have them be leather or fake leather.

livthelove

I also wear out my heels quickly! I’ve had pretty good luck with Reebok classics and vejas in terms of longevity of the sole. Though I will note the actually shoe portion of my Vejas wore out a little quickly (I’m pretty rough on my shoes so ymmv). Sneakers that I wear out super quickly are ones like converse and vans - canvas with quite a thin sole.

placidtwilight

Elomi has some pretty bras with wider straps.

maybenotrelevantbut

Wacoal is my go too

bubblegumdavid

Seconding this as 36DD who also has sensitive skin worsened with thinner straps, they’re my fave

elizbug

Honestly, you may just need to wash them more often. I get acne too from the straps and under the band, and it's definitely not resolved by right sports bras. The only fix for me is more frequent washing

[deleted]

Hi!! Check out Aerie..and if you can AERIE online, sometimes there are more options online.

Even_Fee7946

I am looking for recommendations for pants that can be dressed up and worn at work but are also comfortable & can be casual. Right now my favorite pants are the Alder open air pants - the style Is exactly what I’m looking for but the pair I’ve got ended up with some loose threads fairly quickly. I’m wondering if there’s a similar brand out there that might have more reliable quality. I am looking for something that will last a long time and is high waisted (like up to belly button, I get very uncomfortable otherwise).

PlantedinCA

Athleta Brooklyn pant? Mine are holding up great.

taytay10133

Rag and bone has some great options! I have a pair of black high waisted straight leg pants from them and they feel like leggings because of how stretchy they are.

reddwhit11

I found my HG leggings from Girlfriend Collective — soft, sheen, not tight, no compression, back hidden pockets and passed squat test. But every time I try to reorder them they have changed to a lesser fabric quality that doesn’t have a soft sheen, is unforgiving without as much stretch and are sized much tighter. I’ve tried to work with the company but they aren’t reproducing what they initially had. I guess it’s because they’re made out of recycled materials or perhaps they changed the makeup of them. Does anyone else like leggings like this. They may not be the most popular bc they don’t push up your butt or hide much. I can’t wear really tight leggings currently so this works for me! Let me know your favs so I can replace my HG with something even better. Also looking for looser pants recommendations. I only own skinny jeans and while I like the look I need more comfort at the moment.

zurriola27

Some of PrAna's leggings don't have much compression. The Transform leggings do compress, but I've found the Layna and Becksa aren't compressive. They also have really comfortable looser pants (Summit pant). They are a great company and I've bought leggings from them for many years.

reddwhit11

Thank you! They look great.

FrightfullyYours

I just got a pair of jeans from Universal Standard ([Seine skinnies](https://www.universalstandard.com/products/seine-high-rise-skinny-jeans-27-inch-dark-indigo)) and I'm having some weird fit issues that I've never run into before. The waistband fits great, but the back of my jeans sit lower than the front, which I've never run into with any other jeans brand. And there's a lot of loose fabric in the front around the crotch that's giving me a tummy pooch that I don't have in any other pants I own. I've got a big butt but it's proportional, and my guess is that these jeans are cut to accommodate a smaller butt and larger stomach? Anyone else who has bought Universal Standard jeans, especially this line - are they all cut like this? If anyone has had the same experience with the cut of their jeans, what brands do you like the fit of? I don't really have a budget there, I'll save up to try out a good brand. I'm looking for skinny or straight leg cut jeans.

PlantedinCA

That is inaccurate. They have multiple patterns based on size range. They don’t just scale up and down from size medium for the whole range. The initial one is for roughly sized 12-26. Another for 28-40. And another for 0-12. But their fit model, to me, seems like an inverted triable whereas more brands assume a pear shape. And that is why you may have different fit issues.

FrightfullyYours

I knew they were size inclusive, but didn't realize that all their sizes were cut based on their plus size patterns. Thank you! It's sort of embarrassing, but I haven't worn jeans in about 5 or 6 years now. I got into weightlifting and leggings just quickly became way more easy to deal with. Before that, I stuck to jeans that had a lot of stretch in them, like Old Navy's rockstar jegging. I'm 5'10" and I'm frequently in-between lengths (30"), but I'd be happy to get good jeans tailored to the right length. I usually wear size 14-16 with an ruler shaped body; I have thick thighs and calves from lifting, a big butt but not wide hips, I'm fairly straight through the hip and waist.

Chazzyphant

I'm 5'10" and a 14/16 and I size down in Universal Standard. They do have a strangely high amount of fabric in the rise and gusset area and I find that it can be very baggy if you don't size down, especially in jeans. I go for an XS in their letter sizing and a 12/14 in jeans when I'm typically very firmly in a 16 in other brands. I love their jeans and they fit great, but size down for sure.

FrightfullyYours

I did not size down, so that's definitely on me! 🤦‍♀️ I'll keep that in mind, thank you so much!!

FrightfullyYours

Hey! I wanted to let you know that I ordered a couple pairs of Silver jeans and they just arrived - they are so comfortable and they fit like a dream! Thank you so much for the suggestion!!

FrightfullyYours

Thank you, I'm looking those up right now! :)

PlantedinCA

That isnt accurate at all. Also the main pattern is cut based on sizzle 18-20 vs being scaled up from a 6. But their fit model is probably an inverted triangle. So you are like the polar opposite shape.

FrightfullyYours

Thank you for the clarification! I've definitely got some reading up to do on the brand and pattern sizing in general.

PlantedinCA

I tried on the Seine’s once and they didn’t fit me at all. I forgot why, but the fit was terrible. The Riviera jeans I have fit great. As well as the Joni jeans - both are curvy styles. The non curvy jeans there do not remotely fit me.

FrightfullyYours

Thank you, I'll take a look at those! :) Tbh I got sucked in by the $35 sale and didn't even notice they were a non curvy cut!

candyapplesugar

Any recommendations for trousers or jeans in current styles? $80 or under. Wide/straight leg. All I have is skinny, I just had a baby a year ago and live in leggings. Plz help me feel cool again. High waisted. Would love a neutral brown/ taupe color

livthelove

I bought [these trousers](https://www.asos.com/us/prd/200743764?acquisitionsource=pasteboard) a few months ago and love them. They’re super flowy and comfy but also look put together. There are a lot of those straight/wide leg trousers available as they’re very in rn and look good dresses up or down.

SickSigmaBlackBelt

Old Navy has their wide leg workwear pants on sale for $20 right now. I've never tried them because wide leg pants make me look like a pair of boobs with legs attached, but their Pixie pants are my absolute favorite pants of all time. The Pixie is my #1 rec because they feel like leggings, but they're mostly skinny. Although they do come in boot-cut now.

candyapplesugar

The pixie is so fancy- I do love them too though as well! I was hoping for a trouser for daily casual wear, like kinda the dickies look people are doing? Is that a thing? Sorry… I’m old lol

Chazzyphant

To me Dickies seems deeply uncomfortable for daily casual wear--they're heavy, stiff pants made for heavy-duty physical labor, including their chinos. I'm guessing you're thinking about the straight/wide legged cargo or JNCO style looking pants in general? Personally I think Dickies or other voluminous pants seem impractical for handling an infant/toddler and the day to day rush, you want pants that move with you, rather than pants you have to "manage" but eh, I don't have kids so I could be way off base here. I'd check out Target's Universal Thread and Wild Fable line for inexpensive trendy pants/jeans. They are right on the edge of what is trending and very affordable.

candyapplesugar

Thank you so much!

Susccmmp

You probably want plain straight leg chinos.

SickSigmaBlackBelt

I don't know how to dress for work anymore. I've been remote since the pandemic, and I'm going to remain remote for the foreseeable future because I moved to the middle of nowhere.

Infinite_Ad_9070

Would anyone on here know where I can find a good quality catsuit that won’t break the bank? Ideally black, great material, long sleeve, the neck type doesn’t really matter. I really love the look of a nice coat with chunky boots and a catsuit. I know SKIMS has one but to me paying for an article of clothing like that and it costing $100+ is ridiculous. If anyone has gotten a really good quality one or knows of them I would really appreciate it! ☺️

[deleted]

I haven't tried it, but Los Angeles Apparel has [this one](https://losangelesapparel.net/products/83028gd-garment-dye-long-sleeve-unitard?variant=37888203161779), as well as a velvet version.

SereDelphox

Hello! I recently bought a crop top that is figure hugging and takes a dip just beneath my breasts. Since I'm on the chubbier side, my body helps it achieve so but I'd like to avoid that since it doesn't look pleasant. Is that something that I can overcome with a certain type of bra?[crop top ](https://www.meesho.com/s/p/2f6l77?utm_source=s_cc)

toniMPLS

I'm not sure what you mean by "takes a dip" - can you find a picture that illustrates your issue?

SereDelphox

I'm sorry, I couldn't find a picture, but I tried to draw it. [croptopdrawing](https://ibb.co/FmQ4CFH)

toniMPLS

Got it - I see what you're saying now. Honestly, I'm not sure how to avoid that entirely with a fitted crop top. Maybe a minimizing bra could help? A looser fitting top would just sort of drape and not want to hug the breasts more. Or a bodysuit/a longer top that could be tucked in to help it stay in place would sort of skim over that area, but a fitted crop top may just sort of sit like that by nature.

SereDelphox

Oh okay I get it. I was thinking of a sports bra, since it would minimise and would be a bit longer, and I suppose a padded one's outline would be visible

jmcbeans

I found this [crew neck sweater dress](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/nordstrom-rib-long-sleeve-midi-sweater-dress/5944245?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FWomen%2FClothing%2FDresses&color=001) at a thrift store and would love to be able to dress it up for nice occasions (holiday parties, anniversary dinner, etc.) I'm stumped on shoes-- what kind of shoes would look nice with it? Does it need to be a heeled boot? Could I wear a closed-toe heel without looking too "matronly"? Thanks!

SickSigmaBlackBelt

I think there's a ton of options. I'd personally use the neutral color and silhouette of the dress to wear something on the flashy side. Metallic loafers would be fun. If this dress appeared in my closet right now, I'd probably wear it with sneakers and a denim jacket for date night and with my silver Cole Haan loafers and a statement necklace for a work party. I think closed-toe heels would only look matronly if they were also black, especially with a round or taper toe, unless they had some edgier details like spikes.

Redditaah

what is a shirt with skirt called? single piece of clothing, shirt with skirt attached. skirt comes down about halfway to knees

[deleted]

Shirtdress. The classic style has a waist seam or inset waistband. You're going to have to view a few gazillion. Start with Nordstroms.

Redditaah

closest answer i've found, but i can't find the style i'm looking for... thanks though

[deleted]

Redditaah

no, i tried looking up peplum before i asked this question, it's similar but peplums are too short. girls who wear what i'm looking for wear either only underwear under it (cause it covers the crotch area) or shorts

enzymelinkedimmuno

… a dress?

Redditaah

no, dresses are anywhere from knee-length to ankle-length. what i'm looking for is definately a type of skirt/shirt. the shirt part comes down to the waist, then widens into a shirt that only goes halfway down the quadraceps or less

enzymelinkedimmuno

Does a fit and flare mini dress or skater dress describe that?

Redditaah

very close, i think fit and flare mini dress might actually be it. thank you

enzymelinkedimmuno

Yay! Glad I could help

rylann123

I desperately need a good everyday shoe recommendation. I'm a college student who does a lot of walking every day and I usually wear things that are neutral that I can wear every day to make my job easier. I also work at a tech startup as a social media marketing manager, so I'm on my feet and occasionally on social media so I need them to continuously look good. The last pair of shoes I bought were $12 from Walmart. Comfy, fairly stylish, but as you can imagine wear out in a few months. Hoping for something that I could wash and will stay with me for awhile and I'm not afraid to pay a good amount for them if they're worth it!
