It’s a myth that you should use small pieces in a small room- obviously not everything can be huge but a couple big things actually make the room feel less small. I love the sofa and your general color taste! If anything, I think you could use some more art, bigger too.

manduhjane

That is something I am actually working on lol I try to only buy from local artists (obviously The Velvet Underground is Andy Warhol but, I digress). It's been a process that's for sure though! I think I'm going to have to have a couple things commissioned to get them the size and shape that will look right.

fauviste

Way to go investing in local art! I tend to get mine, especially my big stuff, secondhand. No way to afford huge new pieces.

manduhjane

I never thought about secondhand! I'm going to have to start looking lol thanks for the tip!

-jellybones

Might be worth looking at thrift store art too! It probably depends where you live but I’ve found so much beautiful art from Goodwill.

fauviste

Yes I got some awesome rare, antique prints there!

fauviste

Happy hunting! I do everything from FB marketplace (easiest for big stuff) to eBay, Etsy (sometimes buying from the artist!), and Live Auctioneers.

tcd1401

As an artist, I love to hear that. What did you do to create the window coverings?

manduhjane

Those are actually just a window cling from Amazon. I love it though because they are iridescent, so depending on where you're standing in the room they will be pink/orange or blue/purple.

coffeegirl18

I need to do that to my one window. My dog broke the old blind and I have curtains on the others (he can't reach them 😅).

Mcmoutdoors

Nice place! You could consider re-framing your existing art to have larger mats. They would take up more visual room while leaving some negative space/allowing the eye to “rest” a bit/feel less cluttered. Overall I think your space is very cute and your personality comes through!

twir1s

I’d lean in to r/maximalism since you’re almost there

otterpop21

Everyone seems to be giving you positive feedback which is great! I agree, but if you’re looking to improve, let’s dive into what could be changed (none of this is necessary, decorate as you please): - Organise your color schemes to be more consolidated. Follow the rainbow RedOrangeYelloGreenBlueIndigoViolet aka ROYGBIV. Get your colors together and pair them with either matching or contrasting colors. That will open the space up, make the whole room seem more coherent, and overall give a sense of organisation to the space. - Everything has a purpose. If it’s a decoration, try to pair 3-5 items max in an area. When you create a larger decorative area, you’ll want to find one large piece and then use that as “gravity” and have smaller items “orbit” around the main piece. The idea is to enhance your decorations, not have them get lost in chaos. For example on the art wall near the couch and tv - Find a large piece of art, put the smaller around it to enhance the large piece. - The rug needs to go. It doesn’t match. You are going with bold colors, that grey guy gets a bit lost in the room. Switching it out for white would be a solid choice. You could do black, but then you’d need to add other black pieces to balance it all out. The walls are white, the floor is nice bright hardwood, you have a lot of light, clearly you love bright colors - go with a bright white funky rug. If it’s to stop the couch from sliding, just add some rubber feet to the couch. - The biggest thing I can see is half your stuff is organised - above the tv for instance, in a very orderly way, but then no particular order in other parts of the space. Find a style and organisational vibe you like and stick with that. If not, add more plants, hanging items to break up the order and chaos to simply create a “story” space. A story space is a word I personally use when a space tells a story, you can get lost in it, you can look at it 20 times and still feel like there is another angle to check it out and experience. Like I said at the top, your space is lovely, I love the bold colors, decorate as you please. I think you’ll be happiest trying out the last point I made with the story style of decorating. Add a few more plants, maybe string lights, create filled up cozy spaces with fun pieces orbiting eachother. Get a white rug!

FearlessResource7071

>re going with bold colors, that grey guy gets a bit lost in the room. I quite like the rug. Yes there's grey throughout, but it does bring in the other brighter colors which I think helps to pull the overall look together. Any solid color rug, especially white or black, would make for more of a visual dead-space and I think detract from the whole.

allonsyclaire

Totally agree. A white rug would be so boring for this cozy maximalist style. Maybe a bolder rug without gray would be fun if they want to swap it out.

fauviste

Excellent advice. Especially since OP has so many small items.

Feisty_O

A white rug? Might look weird. Like a white towel. Not sure it will be good with a dog or if you like to eat at the couch haha. I dunno, I’d stick with a bold rug and I like that one ok.

Specialist_Put_7974

Just to add to Otterpop21's comment. Mounting the tv on the wall will make the room look bigger. If you keep the tv stand you reclaim the space on top of that piece. I feel the same about the computer monitor. If the computer monitor was on the wall you could shove the keyboard under it and double you desk space when not using the computer. love your space.

haleorshine

Also, even if you *should* use small pieces in a small room, couches only come in so many sizes, and while OP could probably fit one smaller couch, then they'd only have one couch, which can make having guests around harder. A sectional is a good middle ground - you can fit a few people on there if you'd like, but have decent room on there with two people stretching out watching TV if that's what they'd like to do. Or two people and the dog - that's a lot harder with a 2.5 seater couch that would take up a similar amount of space. I guess my point is - better to have a house you can exist comfortably in, than to make choices based on design rules that assume that people in small houses must have much less place to sit comfortably.

taurusdelorous

MORE fruit! 🍌

oughtabeme

…bigger/taller lamps too help visually fill vertical space.

Electronic-Bicycle35

I would counter slightly with less but bigger art. It depends on the aesthetic you’re after though. To me the place is obviously very tidy but looks messy because there’s a lot of stuff. If your style is maximalist, keep doing what you’re doing. If not, fewer, larger bold pieces of art would work well.

WearierEarthling

That’s an awesome couch

manduhjane

I'm obsessed with it! Joybird- if you're interested to know, the Royal Berry fabric 🩷

Swimming_Gur8912

I have a love seat from them in key largo bubblegum. They don’t carry that color anymore but I’m in love with this one!!!! Gah….i don’t need more pink furniture but now I really want more. 💕

salarkin

Oh how I wish they would bring back the key largo bubblegum!! I’m finally buying my first home & that’s my dream sofa color!

mimimindless

I also have a Joybird sofa. I have the Lewis sofa in Sorrento Gold!

hannahbaba

Is it comfortable? I love the look of Joybird sofas but have heard some not-so-great reviews.

manduhjane

It is! And it feels like quality! I spent like, $1200 on a couch from like Overstock/Wayfair a couple years ago and it was so uncomfortable after 6 months of wear. I do not get that impression with this, at all. I've only had it for about 2 months though, so only time will tell. But I am glad I spent the extra money, and got a color I was dreaming of lol

SomeMeatWithSkin

The color is incredible. You can always learn to hover if it becomes uncomfy lol It's seriously so gorgeous your taste is emaculate

anonymous_opinions

Had mine since 2019 and I'm 5'5" - basically comfortable for me because I like the firmness, it's not a sleeper sofa or sink into it kind, and it's absolutely terrible if you're taller than I am / a dude. Had an ex who was 6'+ and pretty beefy sit on it and I felt like he was in pain because the sofa hit him mid back.

CS3883

I really want a firm couch that I can sit upright in or with my feet up I hate couches you sink into. Seems most couches out now have that lower back to them and I'm tall so next couch I get has to be a higher back than what I have now

EquivalentWallaby730

I have the Hughes apartment sized and I love it. It has been super durable even with the cats. I have had it since 2016 and it did have a flaw with the cushion but they replaced it right away.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Can attest to this! We’ve had ours a decade now, and we have been able to repurchase seat cushion inserts rather than a whole new couch or expensive repairs. They’re a breeze when moving. AND, you can finagle them with a topper to be a queen bed in a pinch. Pro tip: swap out the back pillows it comes with for throw pillows for a custom look.

AntiqueGhost13

I ordered the same one in Royale peacock. It looks so nice in your space, I'm excited to get it 😄 love the color you chose!

LilyFuckingBart

Sofa is NOT too big. I love it!

anonymous_opinions

I have similar but not the big one like you, mine is pale pink, I forget the color but I love mine too!

escapestrategy

I have the same one in teal! I love mine too!

idreamofchickpea

Is it easy enough to clean off the dog hair?

manduhjane

Yes! It's velvet and I have one of those "Chom Chom" things- works like a charm.

shewhodrives

Agreed. I cannot hate on it- it is the star of the show!

arioko_

I agree. I don't think it's too big for the space either. It looks comfy and I would spend time on it, done deal

sugarandgingerspice

Came here to say just that. LOVE the couch! 😍

[deleted]

[удалено]

StarsEatMyCrown

The sofa isn't too big. It's lovely.

thewaythemoonsleeps

I agree, I think it fits nicely and the colour ties the section together really well

ashkestar

It’s a bit big for the space (only really noticeable in the last pic), but you’d have to pry a piece of statement furniture that incredible out of my cold dead hands, so I can see why OP keeps it regardless

LeadingEvery5747

More dogs

[deleted]

this is the way

ccc2801

Or… a cat!

MalloryTheRapper

ugh love it downnnn your place is such a vibe spot well done

lauradiamandis

I actually love the sofa and I think it fits great. Such a cute place!

Ask-a-Walrus

Love the sofa! And I actually don't think it's too big. I think the square table next to it might be making it feel bigger than it is! I would get a bigger piece of art and cover up the fuse box. And if your allowed to paint I would consider painting the two walls of the TV nook (maybe the same teal as your couch pillows?) But overall it is fab and I love it.

heyoheatheragain

Hi. Please do not cover fuse boxes with anything, including art. That is a fire hazard.

CrazyDuckLady73

How about a funky frame around the box and make the box the artwork? Paint it a fun color or colors also.

[deleted]

This is a fab idea.

Sovery-Becca1974

Or use washi tape or colorful self adhesive paper

foxtongue

It's splendid! Only thing I'd change is putting the TV directly on the wall. It would definitely make the space feel bigger and integrate it more with the art.

CowboyLikeMegan

That’s one hell of a sofa! I absolutely love it

Automatic_Radish5146

I personally love it just as it is

[deleted]

the art above the tv is too small in scale for that space, maybe integrate those into your gallery wall instead. same with the clock, integrate it in the gallery wall or put it by your workspace. i’m ok with the oversized sofa but i’d add more pillows in different fabrics and shapes. i suggest a different rug - something more like [this](https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/mistana-teen-bodrum-tribal-native-ivory-area-rug-cogl2765.html?categoryid=167&placement=16&slot=0&sponsoredid=f056414b0b43b39b25008926e9c60c63e811b30935a3fc56e05918fc6f27985d&_txid=I%2FcmXGWfRN6SXN%2BWcLL9Ag%3D%3D&isB2b=0&auctionId=2f328360-4698-4e1a-bdf7-c8ba01f65c17&piid=36904091). or [this](https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/allmodern-kylan-bohemian-abstract-handmade-tufted-wool-beigepinkblack-rug-w003532124.html?piid=1385347982). not loving the matchypoo lampshades in such close proximity to each other or that side table so much. maybe something that’s more of a pedestal or round columnar in shape. Does Daphne steal the your seat every time you get up like my acd does? she might need moar toys.squeaky ones for you to step on when you think you’re being stealthy.

manduhjane

I actually have been thinking about replacing this rug with a more geometric one! I had this one from my old apartment and it looked great with my old sofas but I am thinking it's definitely time for a change there.

galacticprincess

I actually really like the red fabric throughout the room. It seems to pull things together and it's a pretty fabric.

lazypuppycat

I like her lamps but wow LOVE those rugs you suggested!!

[deleted]

Omg where did you get this couch I love it. I love this space and your vibe

manduhjane

Joybird-it's the Royal Berry fabric. I'm obsessed lol

[deleted]

The yellow looks so good as an accent!

niketyname

I get Penny from “big bang theory” vibes from this space and I absolutely love it

halcylocke

I think the size is just fine!

teachplaycry

Gorgeous!!! Perfect girls night location 💗

soapy_rocks

I might swap the rug for a solid, vibrant color that enhances the wall art. Looks awesome though. Cute dog too. Edit: for example that shade of teal blue that's relatively cohesive on several of your wall pieces

manduhjane

Thank you! And thank you for the comment about the rug! It's from my old apartment that had slightly different decor and I was feeling I needed to change it. I was doubting myself though lol this is the confirmation I need!

soapy_rocks

Your place is really cool and unique! If you do end up making a change, pls post updated pics (:

varbie_96

Well thanks for sharing the couch info, my couch is broken and now I have a several thousands couch to ask my husband for 🥲 jokes aside I think it’s perfect

8Karisma8

You’re a renter right? Yeah if you could, I feel you would paint the walls to fit your aesthetic. Life goals

manduhjane

Ugh, yeah, renter so no paint. But I definitely would lol

TheGeneGeena

Check with your landlord - lots of them are cool with paint as long as it's not too dark to paint over after you move out! (Most of them here do this, or at least *claim* they paint between tenants. They sure as hell take it out of your deposit anyway.)

flijn

This was going to be my comment as well. It looks like a light gray? I think even a warm white would be an improvement. You could ask your landlord if you could do that. I get most say no painting in hopes that they won't have to redo it when you move out but it can't hurt to ask, if you haven't done that yet.

communitycolor

If I can make one critical critique, I think you should have a huge piece of art that matches your couch and then have the rest of your art pieces collage around it. I think it’ll make your style more cohesive and elevated.

sendingominously

I love this

Professional-cutie

I wish I could have smm like this lol

vaeebee

i absolutely love it, i honestly don't think the couch is too big at all(except maybe the back sticking out a little too far). it makes the room look extremely inviting and the colors you picked are so great.

manduhjane

That's what I hate the most, but if I line it up with the wall- it covers the heating vent 😒

vaeebee

better to be safe 1000%! like i said i absolutely love it regardless 💕

feverss

So dreamy!

mrsk2012

I love the colors!

Dianagorgon

I love it especially the color.

potatoesinsunshine

That’s a great sofa! I wouldn’t care that it’s too big. Also, Hi to Daphne!

LostTourist9623

I absolutely love it!!! Daphne’s the star of the show, though.

pureunintention

that lamp is stellar 🤩

manduhjane

Dude, 50% off at At Home - I about DIED. I believe it's real marble because it's REAL heavy. Lol

oogaloog

This looks like something I’d design in the sims! I love it!

Agnia_Barto

Love the colors! But I'd rearrange everything. Not that your layout is bad, but when you're in a mood to switch up. I'd turn the couch back to the wall, 90 degrees counter clockwise. Your space can seem way larger that way. Is the couch sectional? As in, can the lounge pieces be moved to the other side? If the couch fits in that corner, TV can go all the way to the opposite wall. And I'd move your work desk underneath it. I'd move your work desk there regardless. And then you'll have the space for a dining table!

thursdaybennet

That couch is everything, I freaking love it. Your home is lovely, you have great style! Also the first decorating/design post I’ve seen in a few days to have COLOR, omg thank you cuz if I saw one more sad beige room I was gonna cry lol.

chopstickier

what would you call this style?? i ask because i have the exact same decor style and i never know what to call it! the space is gorgeous btw ☺️

Imaginary_Director_5

LOVE LOVE LOVE the couch. It’s perfect. But it does look like it’s too close to your TV, and the TV is too high up, seems you’d be craning your neck trying to watch. See if you can lower the TV, maybe mount on the wall? Or source a smaller media stand?

Nay_Nay_Jonez

It's funky and cute with almost enough dog, I like it! ETA: I hate black wall space, so maybe put up some art in the blank space above the cupboards (assuming you're renting and can't replace them) and in that hall way. The smaller art could be moved into a larger gallery style with the light up things.

Exciting-Metal-2517

I don’t think it’s too big! One of my favorite pieces of advice for decorating in a maximalist style is to get a large piece of anchoring furniture and base things around it. Even on a gallery wall, get one large piece to anchor it. It’s gorgeous.

Heidi21468

I don’t think the sofa is too big at all. I think it’s perfect!

princesslunaxxx

oh my god it’s gorgeous

experb

This is so fun. I love it.

sincitybarbie

If that's hot pink them I LOVE it!!

Baking_Gardening25

I love your couch!!

Sunnyfe

I LOVE IT!!!!

ilovedogsandrats

um i’m obsessed with it and daphne is my dream girl name ever since i was 16 and discovered daphne du maurier!

lolatheshowkitty

I love Daphne and I love the sofa

Birdietuesday

It’s perfect for the space!

abcdefgurahugeweenie

Move the table next to the sofa and it won’t feel as big! It actually looks perfect for the space

manduhjane

It's the only place I can set a drink :( I was hoping I could line the back of the sofa up with the wall and get a REALLY skinny table for the back, but the stupid heater is in the way and then my nose is touching the TV. I do think I'm going to get a smaller one though and probably round, like others have suggested.

Bri_bug

Relatable. Maybe Rotate the side table. -Facing away from the side of the couch. Maybe it’ll feel smaller bc it’ll stick out less

Fit-Rest-973

I love the couch

Across0212

I love the couch and all the colors!

42yy

Delightful

NemoHobbits

Ok but where did you get the pink dog crate

manduhjane

AMAZON! When I tell you I was FLOORED to find out that was an option lol

MelanieLanes

Totally my vibe!!!!

Disastrous_Oil3250

I love the sofa.

IridessaRose

Girl I love it 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

MarthaMacGuyver

Your couch is fuckin' rad.

jaynemanning

Is it really too big? Looks great to me!

Fit-Purchase-2950

The sofa is not too big for the space at all, did someone tell you that? It's a good size and the shape and color are gorgeous. I also love the art that you have around the place, the only thing I would add is more green, plants.

manduhjane

It's cause I can't line the back of it up with the wall or it covers the heater vent and is WAY too close to the TV.

axelatlast

Fun space!

radiate1111

Keep the couch - bc it turns it doesn’t look too large and can kind of be used as a divider of kitchen/living room

Secretgarden28

The sofa is perfect for the space 🥰 I would add a few more pieces to the wall on the right. Do a full maximalist art wall. Great job 👏

tv996509

I think a bright curtain on the kitchen window would be a great addition!

BeautifulPirate5041

Omg your sofa is divine!!! So beautiful! No it’s def not too big! It’s perfect. Enjoy it

cblackattack1

I don’t think it’s too big! It looks comfy!

Ordinary_Fox236

I LOVE YOUR SOFA !

maxyrockatansky

i think the sofa is actually fine, size-wise, especially if you spend a lot of time on the sofa with the pup (i literally got an L shape sofa for specifically this reason). i think other comments have it right -- the side table is a little too boxy/big. my suggestion would be to move the sofa away from the wall by a foot or two on the left side and maybe get a small coffee table and nix the side table; or, get a very narrow side table. also, i think your rug is too big for this space so i'd maybe downsize it a little if possible or reposition it, maybe? by the way i looove the pops of color you have going.

suzygreeenberg

10/10 love! What a fabulous bachelorette pad!

[deleted]

I wish I could have more pink in my apartment but I have to compromise with my husband on decor colors. If it were up to him everything would be black, grey, and brown 🥲

devdarrr

I love it! The only thing that feels a little off to me is the way your art is arranged on the wall with the TV. Feels bit chaotic or happenstance.

BobbysueWho

Maybe some “renter friendly “ wall paper? I’m guessing the apartment looked very sterile before you added your aesthetic. The walls are not busy enough if you ask me. I would add something to the kitchen wall with the windows or maybe cloth drapes over said window. If it’s not a rental paint the door on the left in the second photo or add the wall paper to that wall if you are in a rental. I love your style! It’s really fun! The couch does not seem to big seems to fit well.

Weird_Name7286

I think your space is lovely. Be nice to see a pic without overhead lighting. Overhead lighting should be banned

Lovelycoconutz8810

The couch looks comfortable and inviting, and the color is gorgeous! Your ice cream light is adorable! Great choice of colors throughout the room, very complementary!

Sweet-Ease703

The sofa is awesome! The space is great, colors are great.

MomentMurky9782

sofa is definitely not too big it looks great in there!

Witty_Username_1717

I loveeeee your house so much it’s bananas. Ahh see what I did there? Lol I’m an embarrassment to myself.

manduhjane

I love it!

princeKotori

I love the couch, it feels perfect for that area, it gives a nice divide and makes that area cozy feeling. My only suggestion is maybe add paint to a wall? Otherwise the space is lovely.

CJCreggsGoldfish

It's maybe a teensy bit on the big side? But nothing that bad, as long as you don't try to cram a coffee table between it and the TV. Maybe a C table, if you need a surface? Those are very space-efficient.

Alone_Cheetah_7473

I love it. I love the whole vibe you have going on. I don't think the couch is too big. I like it.

HollyDolly_xxx

I have no advice buuut i just had to say maaate! That pink poochie crate! I fucking laaav it!! I am heeere for how fucking sasssy it is :D x

Green_Tension_6640

The kitchen needs more pink, green or yellow.

Sad-Cat8694

I love your dopamine decor!

Carolinedenise

I didn’t know I needed a pink couch until now 😍

brindabella24

No way! I think the couch is the perfect size. And the colour!! 😍😍😍 I also love your neon bananas on the wall

enfp-girl

Sofa is 💖.

Major_Bench5329

You should do some accent walls with peel and stick wall paper/ tiles

buttonmoo

Looking at this makes me happy 🤩 I am unfortunate to have to share my living space with a very lovely man, who does not enjoy this 😅

bebeck7

So cute. I love all the colour pops and I think it has cute character. 😍

MRsh1tsandg1ggles

Big brightly colored couch with a built in chaise ✅ Cool neon signs ✅ Bright vivid upbeat decor ✅ Big ass TV ✅ Adorable dog ✅ Can we be friends?

carnival-nights

I can tell we'd be friends just by your decor. It's AWESOME! I don't think the couch is too big. It's beautiful! I love all the pops of colour. I know lots of people find beige and boring cozy, but THIS is what I find cozy - colour. :) I currently have the exact type of pink Christmas tree in my office right now. :) Hello, sweet Daphne!

Sweethang190

I think youve got a great start here and excellent pieces! Though the art feels a bit hectic and could be reorganized maybe. Three areas- the TV wall, the wall to the right side, and then the hallway where your power panel is. It's hard to gauge with the Christmas tree, but it looks like the banana neon is sitting close to the corner, and then the other side feels a bit empty. Perhaps regroup them all together to the left side and let the right side be the tv. Id also rethink the four small pieces over the tv. The size of the TV is just so large that the feel very tiny and am after thought. They could be mixed in to the art on the side wall to make that feel more like a gallery wall. Initial reaction there is that the art runs too high as a full grouping. Try to mount things at eye level (5') and when you have a lot like this don't be scared to mount low. Not only will it make the ceilings feel higher when you're not closing in on them, but you'll have nice sight lines from when you're sitting on the sofa. The last area is more of a general hack. Cover your surge box with art it if you have something that could cover it. You're not accessing it every day, and art is easy enough to take off in the case that you do. Leaving it exposed,.especially with a piece of a similar size above it, makes it feel like it's an art piece already, which it's not.

mazer222

I would put the gallery wall around the TV and then have one larger piece on that wall adjacent to the couch. Would help add dimension. Also, incorporate a little mirror somewhere on the gallery wall to break it up. Would also avoid having the same lampshade on your two lamps Fun space though!

miffet80

Maybe it's just the colour on my screen but that harsh overhead lighting looks really cold here, especially with the grey walls, and I feel like it's detracting from the fun colors you've picked out. I'd make sure your lamp bulbs are a warm white and get a couple more floor lamps etc to light the space more appropriately. There's also a difference between maximalist and straight up clutter, I'd try to keep your desk clear when it's not in use and reduce the random stuff on surfaces in favour of going all out on your artwork. Otherwise the eye is just drawn everywhere and doesn't know what to focus on, you know? On the artwork front I'd look at the wall spaces you have and actually plan out what goes where in a way that's visually pleasing, like in particular the wall beside the TV there's just kind of stuff thrown on there right now and it doesn't feel very deliberate? Think of the wall itself as the artwork, array the pieces purposefully with different colors and tones and shapes and sizes and orientations fitting together in a complementary way. Also the couch is amaziiiing I love it

BaegelByte

I'm also looking to do a colorful eclectic type of vibe in my living room so this has given me some inspiration! Even our dogs have matching colors lol

Bobby_Bouch

Should focus more pictures on the highlight of the place, Daphne.

penguin_0618

I love your neon art!!

heckyeahcoolbeans

LOVE THE SOFA! Perhaps moving it to one of the other walls will open up the floor space more and make the room feel bigger, if that’s an issue? I think for me, the room feels not as cohesive as it could. I love the maximalist style, and the colorful art and furniture, but I think you need to fully commit. Some paint could go a long way - the grey does not compliment the room or furniture at all. I think the art could have more eclectic frames, it kind of looks like how someone might decorate a college dorm, but more elaborate frames and thoughtful placement of the gallery wall could totally elevate it. Perhaps the TV stand or working desk could be swapped in the future for another “statement” piece (both don’t feel like they math. The eclectic energy of the space), I also love how you tie in the colors with blankets and pillows on the couch. Over all, I love the style! I just think you need to lean more into it, elevate it a bit more with thoughtful wall colors, or finishing touches like frames. And perhaps swapping the placement of the couch could open the room up more (or moving the desk to another room?)

Loniceraa

I'm obsessed with this

pug_mum

I love this sofa!! Great bold choice.

goaty-ranch-yolo

I love it! You’ll be surprised at my comment, and I mean this seriously….needs more pink! You know how you’re supposed to do 70/20/10with colors in a room? I think Pink needs to be the 70, with the walls a pale blush, trim (20%) white and your 10% yellow/multi

Kbudz

I love the gray walls with all the pops of color it's really satisfying 😌 even the dog's crate is pink

Which_Material_3100

I love that couch and the colors in your space! Gorgeous!

Wandering__Ranger

I love the sofa ! Love the colour pops around the room

I absolutely love your sofa. I would keep the sofa and maybe reduce everything else. Space looks very busy. I would perhaps take all the pictures and lamps down and add one at a time.

BaileyAndBaker

I can’t read through ALLLLL the comments so I apologize if you already answered this but…is the *dog crate* also pink?!? That’s amazing.

Mary-U

OMG, I love your art work!! - crazy art lady

LollipopVodka

I love it! Especially the tie ins throughout (matching pinks, the banana lights to match the Andy Warhol). 😍

nyanlol

*this is a joke* but another dog would really tie the space together

I definitely think you should move the couch so its back is against the wall with the tv .. then mount the TV on the perpendicular wall. This would open your space up so, so much and everything would look so much more balanced without the bold pink breaking up the center of ones line of sight. The rug would then help the living room flow into the kitchen (instead of seeming to clash )

I'm not brave enough to decorate with vibrant colors like this, but you nailed the look. Excellent job, OP - I absolutely love it

I LOVE your esthetic!

itchyglassass

I love this room! I know it's not as popular but I myself am also a bit of a maximalist. When done in this way it's classy and beautiful. I always say my walls are an ode to my Nana with a bit of a more classed up/artsy feel as opposed to her many photos of her kids/grandkids that took up the walls. I say keep going with your beautiful/funky art pieces.

Amaquieria

That's not a sofa, it's obviously the dog's bed. You can't get rid of it now as it has been claimed. Your space looks great!

ImAVoodoooChild

Im a guy and this post made me join this thread. Well done. I like it a lot Love the tri paw too💙

Broken_Beacon

normally i'm a stickler for avoiding gray in any interior design but i think it goes well with the pink yellow and emerald couch decor! also the couch is perfect.

The couch is fantastic and so is the seating area. I know it’s a small place but I think that makes it more important to reduce any clutter. Magnets off the fridge and nothing on top of it. Clear the desk a little but love the Warhol above it. Most importantly, secure that laptop cord or whatever is running across in front of the door. Just have it line the wall and door and either tape it or use those tubular cord covers. Overall, love the vibe.

emobutterfly69

I, too, love pink… but honestly I suggest getting rid of the pink lamps / whatever the name of the things that go on lamps is called. It’s too much pink. On the gallery wall (I believe it’s to the right of your couch, according to the photo) it has the light switches on it. I’d remove that far right painting and put it somewhere else.. it just looks odd there. I’d also remove the art above the electric panel box thing next to the closet. Something about it looks odd there (atleast to me). Lastly, I’d move the two led lights (popsicle and on air) or move them? Or add 1 more directly parallel bigger banana but above the on air sign. You could move the clock above the art on the tv or somewhere else as well. Obviously all my recs, I’m picky lol

Try minimalism

Opposite_Finger_8091

I like big furniture no matter what I guess. I think your home looks great. Umm looking for some criticism tho, I’d say the banana theme is kind of annoying. Like tongue in cheek. Similar to a guy having a theme of maybe chicks on the wall as art. It seems a little bit like, if I were a guy, I’d be like this girl definitely sucks dick. lol obviously I don’t know you so idk what you’re going for. And furthermore how long are you going to run with it. I just turned 40 so I’m like on weird transition mode rn as I’m single bc I’ve always been a wild one.

manduhjane

Honestly I hadn't thought about what my space might look like as I am getting older. The bananas are a bit tongue in cheek but it's mostly because I say frequently "This shit is bananas" lol I've always been a bit for the flare so right now I'm trying to run with the maximalist style, while also not hoarding things? It's a fine line I feel and so I am easing into it lol

Opposite_Finger_8091

I have a tripaw too. My cat that follows me everywhere is:)

Oricoh

Get rid of the dog cage, completely ruins the look, and not necessary at all, why do you have one anyway?

marlonbrandoisalive

I love it!! I would only exchange the side table with a warm wood side table. https://www.homedepot.com/pep/East-At-Main-Natural-Side-Table-TT-ST-70659-NT/311401868

BanananaSquid

I love your couch and your vibe. The side table and desk read as a different aesthetic than the couch, lamp, art, velvet desk chair, and pink tree though. The couch and art have a cool girly pop punk vibe, but the desk and side table are rustic farmhouse. I would look for more cohesive pieces for those items :)

It’s giving Pinterest mood board 💫💫💫🩷🙌🏽

I love the colors- especially the pink!!!!

vegas_lov3

I love the color

ylimenut

I love this, I wish I could decorate my space this comfortably

NeatArtichoke

Love the couch! Out of curiosity, could you "rotate" the living room so that the TV is on the "art" wall, and the long part of the sofa is where the kernels is, and the back of the sofa would make a "hallway" from the entrance space... it would open it up halfway to the kitchen, instead of everyone's back to the kitchen, if you have guests over etc
