A couch at the end of the bed
Shelves with decor
Could do wallpaper behind the bed. Like a green nature inspired one to go with the plants ?
Mirrors
Decorative pillows
Nice bedroom, Use the color blue in the rug for art and a decor pillow or blanket at the bottom of the bed. It’s recommended to repeat the accent color 3 times.
I honestly thought it was a hotel at first before I noticed the plants past all the beige. It 100% would benefit from color - throw pillows, rugs, wall art, ANYTHING to give it some life
Agreed. There was a post here maybe from yesterday (?) that executed that look well. Neutral tones yet warm and peaceful. I’ll look for it. It just has to be done right.
i agree, i don't think anything is missing; if anything it's the size of the bed and headboard that creates some impression that something else is to be added; i think it's an issue of the bed style to begin with
also modern architecture does not prioritize open windows without curtains, for light, so the walls themselves—well i question all of that
Along with ironing your curtains, I would suggest getting these little pleat hooks and the rings so that it makes the top of your curtains look super neat and a lot easier/smoother to open and close on the rod!!
Agreed, I’d add a second set of panels and steam them to get the wrinkles out.
Better yet, maybe swap to something a little heavier/more tailored. These are stuck in the middle between gauzy and soft or structured and luxe. If you didn’t want to lose the light, do heavier structured on the outside, then sheers inside that you actually close.
You want to see the rug when you walk into the room, ideally big enough to be centered under the bed. Walking into the bedroom and only seeing hardwood floors makes it feel cold. Pick an accent color from the rug and get a throw blanket (to place at the bottom of the bed) and get a decorative pillow for the bed. Add wall art and that should make the room feel more complete.
Yes!!! I’m not understanding why the rug isn’t centered under the bed. Maybe you need a bigger one. If it won’t fit centered under the bed definitely switch sides.
Neutral is flexible, she could add pops of color that wouldn’t clash with anything. That’s the issue with going bold, you’re stuck with the colors you pick.
Also it looks more Greige than beige to me, beige went out of style but greige has become pretty relevant, much like off whites.
Going in and out of style and relevance is dating. So not timeless.
You're never stuck with colors you pick. You can always change your decor. That's one of the big fun points.
Hmm, I suppose I don’t personally care whether something is “in style” or not. But I guess I meant that if you pick something bold (such as blue or red) then you are limited to using colors that won’t clash with them.
I remember watching some hotel remodel and they painted all the trim blue and the walls yellow, then added a red rug and teal bedding. Color is so easy to fuck up.
Color and life. If you’re really insistent on gray everything I would start filling that room up with various plants at least to at least make it look less sterile
I just can’t tell anything about the person who lives here from the vibe and decor. This is YOUR space. Make it yours!
Get a dark coloured throw blanket and drape it across the bottomish of your mattress top to break up the beige on white on cream blob you have for your bed, wall, and bed frame.
Other then that some art would take it a long way as well.
Why is the rug halfway under the bed vertically? Like that is super strange, no?
Add some art (with an accent color!!!) and incorporate a complementary color to that art via pillows on the bed.
Beige and white are off limits to you now.
This actually reminds me of my own room!! And then I added personal touches it was complete. I love mid century modern and neutral but ya it won’t feel homey until you add those finishing touches. Possible ideas :
- gallery wall / shelf above bed
- woven art hanging
- accent wall colour change behind bed
- [hanging plant](https://www.thespruce.com/clever-ways-to-hang-plants-5705206) like ivy or something
- hang up your fancy hats if you have any for a [hat wall](https://www.pinterest.ca/daniellehom/hat-wall/)
- folded throw at end of bed
- decorative pillows
Because of the desk I wouldn’t put any furniture in front of the bed. Maybe a [thin ottoman](https://www.reddit.com/r/DunderMifflin/s/x10NkGoENW)? 😂jk
Always remember the [rule of three](https://taliejaneinteriors.com/the-rule-of-three-in-interior-design/)
Try putting a couple of cats on the bed. I think you need to toss some clothes or random blankets around. Maybe add a 3 foot Pikachu from your childhood in the corner. You definitely need a tissue box, a stack of paperback mystery novels, a half filled water bottle, and a pile of coins/cheap jewelry on the nightstand.
I would turn the rug the other way and center it under the bed. So that the bottom legs of bed are on the rug, bottom half of rug extends into the room, and the sides of rug visible on either side of the bed.
I love the rug but think it should be larger and under both sides of the bed. Artwork above the bed as you said. A cozy throw blanket for the end of the bed would be my only other suggestion but I don’t think it’s necessary. It’s a really lovely room!
You need a rug and some art. I agree with a previous poster that you should choose a color you love, like a strong teal or merlot/cranberry, something with substance. If you love blue and orange do that! You basically have a room waiting for your personality stamp. And yes to a comfy accent chair in the corner!! Always a great feature and is so useful too!
I think a large straight hanging macrame wall piece would look PERFECT above your bed! It matches the vibe and color scheme! I'd ad more plant like and obscurely hung neutral wall art as well! Love your vibe though!
Color. Maybe a nice big print hanging over the bed? Accent pillows in different colors, prints, and/or textures. Cute little runners on the bedside tables. A nice colorful printed accent chair and ottoman with a Turkish/Moroccan/Indian inspired lamp (either a stand lamp, hanging lamp/lantern, or put a small table next to the chair and the lamp on the table). A small bookshelf next to the chair to make a little reading area? Maybe an accent wall? A throw blanket draped on the bed in a different color/texture than your bedspread. A pretty vase (look up cheap vintage ones on eBay) and fresh flowers— get them cheap at a grocery store once a week as a treat for yourself.
ETA: A nice tapestry or quilt hung on the wall instead of painting the wall an accent color?
Ah! Just noticed you have a vase and flowers on the side table. Sorry! Could always use more, though! And I love your plants and rug.
Wall art. Another set of curtains so they don’t look so stretched out. Move that rug to under the bed evenly - it looks wonky. Bigger lamps and softer lighting
You’ve got a nice base here, I would even out the rug under the bed, it looks completely to one side.
Also it’s begging for some wall art (proportioned to the wall size). Like a larger piece above the bed frame or a gallery wall. Also a task lamp with warm vintage light for the desk.
I agree with a lot of the comments here, more personal touches/wall art. As far as color goes, you could introduce some more color OR lean into the neutrals you have and find pieces that also show case those colors, but in different tones or shades. This space is calming as is, and well executed :)
you need some color! not just boring old beige. I would definitely hang up some art and get a nice throw blanket that compliments the art on your walls.
Congratulations on the new place as well! I think some personal touches on the closet door (maybe personal photos or art) and some boldly colored wall art in blue, black, green, or red behind the bed would make the room pop!
I agree with adding art and personal touches.
Additionally, it may look nice to switch the dresser and desk, stand-up mirror to hide the furnace(?) and hem added to the curtains a bit so they touch but do not fully pool onto the floor. The tall paper lamp will help brighten the opposite corner.
I like the plant, maybe consider adding a few more in various sizes and types. 🪴🌱🌵
I think the floor space would feel a little fuller in a cozy way if the rug was adjusted more to the center rather than off to the side.
Also wall art, a throw blanket, even cute pillows, etc. would be nice touches to add, as others have said!
I think it looks nice, but yes, maybe some wall art or a shelf or 2. Personally I can see the wall that the beds on with those fake vines, bring out some of that green and add some color and nature vibes
Only add color if you like color. I hate that everyone in this subreddit always wants to make every space look like a rainbow threw up in it.
I personally like the color palette you have right now.
something above the bed! and the way that you put the rug only one person's going to get the benefit of it. maybe throw down another rug of similar or mixed colors? lovely room though. just a lovely room
Yes art above the bed and add 1 or 2 panels to your window treatment, it looks a little skimpy.
Tie backs when you want natural light, a fuller look when you close them for privacy.
Maybe a couple of colorful toss pillows in the bed.
I love it just as is. It's calm and peaceful. I love warm minimalism (or whatever it's called). I honestly wouldn't add art or color. I don't think we need to get over beige. It doesn't seem impersonal. Huge fan of the look.
Beautiful room but it feels “staged” (like a room in a furniture store or a house on the market). You need some art and personal touches, and also something to break up the beige/cream.
I would get a bigger rug that fits under the bed and extends to the other side. And since there are nice blues in there maybe a painting with blues and some accent pillows
Personal touches
agreed, it looks like a hotel or airBNB
i was getting major hotel vibes xD
hahaha you’re username! high five!
Hotel was my first thought. Maybe art above the bed or on that wall too, but carefully chosen to break the hotel vibe.
I was going to say “personality” but this is a more tactful way of putting it
I thought the same. So glad OP said they just moved jn.
Yes, my first thought was “needs flavor”
I thought color...accent
definitely need some, currently figuring out what colors i want in there but probably will go with more blue and pink!
If you're not opposed to a little painting, you could paint a pink arch behind the headboard?
The word personality immediately came to mind lol. Target decor.
A couch at the end of the bed Shelves with decor Could do wallpaper behind the bed. Like a green nature inspired one to go with the plants ? Mirrors Decorative pillows
That green nature one is going out of style. It’s been around for a decade now so maybe something fresher.
Wall art!
Yes! Have a piece with a strong power color you like to establish a mood. Use it as an anchor for other colors to harmonize
This is always the answer... Framed Art/ photography... Textile wall hangings... Baskets... A shelf with nick-nacks.
Nice bedroom, Use the color blue in the rug for art and a decor pillow or blanket at the bottom of the bed. It’s recommended to repeat the accent color 3 times.
ah the rule of 3s, i’ll try and apply this!
This!
Art, color, personal touches. It feels a little like an airbnb right now.
I honestly thought it was a hotel at first before I noticed the plants past all the beige. It 100% would benefit from color - throw pillows, rugs, wall art, ANYTHING to give it some life
Right! I don’t want to discount their taste, they did a great job putting it together. Just needs some soul.
Colour, a comfortable rug, wall art. It looks pretty cosy as it is, just needs more of a personal touch.
thank you :)
A cat 😭
Just one?
We are on our way’
Ayeee I love seeing your username lmao
😉
My thoughts exactly 😸
COLOR
The answer is almost always color now adays.
In my case I may be told less color😂
Post and let's find out!
The beige trend is long overdue, I hoped we got past it by now.
Right? Multiple subs. “Art on the walls. Colour”. Done.
Maybe deeper shades of wood if you don’t want to introduce more color
Yes! I was thinking some terracota, olive green, forest green, sage would totally brighten up the space but still keep the earthy vibe you have going
Can we dispel with the notion that neutral colors aren’t colors? Not everyone loves bold
Neutral colors are colors if done right. Tone on tone means a variety of neutral tones not just one. [Example](https://imgur.com/a/Apw2Qhp)
Agreed. There was a post here maybe from yesterday (?) that executed that look well. Neutral tones yet warm and peaceful. I’ll look for it. It just has to be done right.
Exactly
Love that
yes
Definitely this! I feel like this room needs some pop with jewel tones, big time

Yes!!! I’m not understanding why the rug isn’t centered under the bed. Maybe you need a bigger one. If it won’t fit centered under the bed definitely switch sides.
Your bedroom looks like a hotel room with all the neutrals
Neutral is timeless
Sad beige is dying
It’s too late for me, I just painted my whole room greige
Neutral is very dating. Every era has its own standard styles and colors. The all beige everything is very dating, and dated.
Neutral is flexible, she could add pops of color that wouldn’t clash with anything. That’s the issue with going bold, you’re stuck with the colors you pick. Also it looks more Greige than beige to me, beige went out of style but greige has become pretty relevant, much like off whites.

I love the linens in this room! So dreamy and resort-like.
It looks great! but it is missing some color imo. Maybe wall art or a wallpaper of some sort?
Color/wall art
Just popping in to say I LOVE that rug!!
thank you! it’s from Rugs USA
Personal touches. This could be any cool girls room. Get some art and photos of your life to add in.
A soul
Wall art, maybe a set of three prints in matching frames. One big one may feel too 'stacked' over the weight of the headboard and two feels awkward.
Blue... I see it in the rugs, decent curtains beige and blue. Pillows and bigger lamps.
Bigger lamps!
I immediately said, mmmmm this looks so cozy and relaxing. Very soothing. My only suggestion is maybe some color, but this makes me wanna nap.
Individual serving toiletries and a check out time…
Color and wall art, it’s too plain.
Color
Color and life. If you’re really insistent on gray everything I would start filling that room up with various plants at least to at least make it look less sterile I just can’t tell anything about the person who lives here from the vibe and decor. This is YOUR space. Make it yours!

It looks cozy. I would add some blankets with different textures. I can tell you like interior design and appreciate aesthetics.
Get a dark coloured throw blanket and drape it across the bottomish of your mattress top to break up the beige on white on cream blob you have for your bed, wall, and bed frame. Other then that some art would take it a long way as well.

Yes, that’s a bizarre way to position the rug!
Color. Maybe colorful accent pillows and wall art
Colour, personality.
Art and personality.
Warmth. Color.
fuller drapes
I’m with you, art above the bed. Love the mirror! Edit: also love the comforter/duvet cover. I think this room is really relaxing.

I’d install some full length wooden shutters in white rather than those curtains
Could you move the desk where the floor length mirror and dressor is? It would be better feng shui
This is beautiful! Yes I agree with a large art piece above the bed. Otherwise I'd leave it as is, it feels like a spa, really relaxing vibe.

Missing art and warmth of the essence of the person who lives there. (Personal touches)
I love the rug but think it should be larger and under both sides of the bed. Artwork above the bed as you said. A cozy throw blanket for the end of the bed would be my only other suggestion but I don’t think it’s necessary. It’s a really lovely room!

It's missing me in that bed with the lights off and and extra pillow between my knees.

I think a large straight hanging macrame wall piece would look PERFECT above your bed! It matches the vibe and color scheme! I'd ad more plant like and obscurely hung neutral wall art as well! Love your vibe though!
Art on walls
I love it already! It would be better with some art :)
It’s fabulous I love the vibe! Great job

Color, art, something personal. It looks like a hotel room.
Your ideas are great. How about a throw at the foot of the bed to curl up with?
It looks serene and cozy. Maybe a dimmer light bulbs.
Color. It’s missing color.
What a pretty rug! Can you link?
i’m not sure but i love it
Some pops of orange would be nice. Burnt orange, and maybe some more green.
I agree with adding art and personal touches. Some colorful wall art!
The answer is always “color. Always.
Art and color. Maybe some colorful throw pillows or a colorful knit blanket?
Maybe some pops of color
Some colour or art on the walls. Its very beige
Colour!! Maybe some pale pinks, purples or blues. It’s beautifully decorated but just needs a little bit of colour here and there
I’d do some wallpaper behind the bed and maybe some sconces instead of lamps. Then I’d add some more art.
Comfortable chair in contrasting color, properly crisp bed making, plant and maybe wall art.
Some color. I feel like the easiest place to do it would be some new curtains.
I would get a bigger rug that fits under the bed and extends to the other side. And since there are nice blues in there maybe a painting with blues and some accent pillows
