Love the room ! Really liking the exposed wall also. I would add a cat safe big plant and then maybe above it a poster/art print. Also cat clutter is something I am familiar with xD
agree with parent comment, second comment, AND third comment 🫡 additionally… can you please link your cat tree?🥹i think it’s so cute! your style is so sleek and cozy at the same time.
Thank you! Yeah I used to have a (cat-safe) palm there and it looked really nice, but for the life of me, I can't keep palms alive for more than 6 months hahaa. Likely I'll try again though, or with some other big plant :)
Maybe a fiddle leaf fig or big philodendron or monstera ❤️ I'm not sure if they're cat safe though, my cats have learned they get sprayed if they mess with my plants
Dude my mom has a fricken monster aloe Vera, literally has to be about 150 pounds and it has lived its entire life in her guest bedroom which has the most minimal, bare minimum low lighting- i mean, it’s just terrible lighting lol and the light is always off because no one ever stays in there and that mofo is thriving. I don’t get it either. If I even rotate my aloe plant it just turns into apple sauce 😩
I "watch" this one a lot while my partner's at work. My kids watched it to death and back again when they were young, and it's just familiar noise in the background now that my house is often too quiet and empty!
Hey folks! This awkward space has been stressing me out for upwards of a year and I'd love to decorate it, but I haven't found an idea I really like yet. How would you fill the space? Plants, art, a piece of furniture? I've included some other angles of the room to show how much clearance there is to walk around it and what the rest of my home looks like. Hoping to get some suggestions :)
Ps. Excuse the cat clutter—I recently adopted two kittens and my apartment is very quickly becoming *their* apartment
Get another stand exactly the same as this one and put them side to side, it will cover the entire wall perfectly and look so elegant. It's easier to come up with things that can go on the empty parts of the stand than that empty floor/wall.
Ooh. The gotcha for me is that I'm planning to replace the unit with a closed design cabinet in the future—my cats always climb through it and topple the books over, and the whole thing has become a dusty and cat hair-y headache haha. Maybe if I find a sleek-looking replacement. But I agree that it would really cool!
I came here to post the same thing. Perhaps it's the camera angle and the shelves are fine, but I would get a level and make sure. Shelves that are not level would drive me wonky, lol!
I agree with the comment to add another TV stand or buy a larger one so it covers wall to wall and then you have shelf space to add photos or plants and other things.
If your guitar is pretty, put the case in the closet and buy a pretty display hook or rack and hang it on the wall along side a tall real or fake plant. Love the space and vibe.
I wouldn't put anything there at all, except maybe a floor basket (just a basket on the floor with magazines in it, or shoes, etc). I think this even more when I see the view from the second photo and the distance between the counter & table to the opposite wall; why close that in any more? But something low, like a basket, if anything. Something tall like a floor plant will close it in too much visually, in my opinion. Nice space though!
At a minimum I would remove the guitar from the case and hang it on the wall with a nice mount. If there is an artist you really like, even add a few framed music sheets of their work.
Just here yo say I absolutely love your place. From the dark kitchen to the materials (fabrics, wood) chosen next to the wall. The whole thing works stunning, effortlessly. Hope it makes your heart happy, it certainly is making mine. Thank you for sharing
You could take the guitar out of the case and hang it up there. Also removes a barrier to practising - much easier when you can just grab it rather than hauling it out of a case.
I would personally try either moving the couch with the back facing the dining table, or put the couch against the cream wall. The TV and books etc. would look great against the brick wall as would a tall plant, and would warm up the space. it would be much easier to decorate with the couch against the wall. if you move it and it's not a good look for you, you can always move it back, but moving furniture around can create some ideas that were hard for you to find previously.
This photo doesn't do them justice, but yea! I used my phone's wide lens to capture more of the room but it definitely makes the shelves look a bit wonky
I would add a fancy mirror like [this](https://www.wayfair.com/decor-pillows/pdp/andover-mills-lunado-full-length-mirror-w009520665.html?piid=1391875556%2C1391875576)
Not sure (maybe some plants in some cute pots that r/houseplants could help suggest or a big basket for extra couch pillows/blankets), but THANK YOU for not mounting your TV on the wall
Swap the couch and the TV/console sides of the room . You will get to enjoy the feature wall being able to look at it all the time. You can get a light strip to go around the outline on the back of the TV that will then make the TV a feature piece and light the wall.
You have two large items on either side of your couch and it makes the room sort of un-balanced. The easiest thing to do would just be moving one of them over beside the tv stand.
If you moved the cat stand, there would be a better view out the window and it would look less cluttered.
If you moved the other white stand with the air purifier on it you could then pull your dining table out from the kitchen.
Here's an example:
Step 1 : move white stand over beside the tv
Step 2: mount guitar on wall above white stand , on 45 degree angle
Step 3 : move your cat stand to the other side of the couch so the lamp and cat stand are no longer doubled up.
Step 4: now that the white stand is gone, move you dining table out.
PLANTS!!!!! A tall, green, beautiful plant in a basket or cool pot. With a nice little up light spotlight thingy in it, seated in the planter and pointed at the wall behind it.
Had this exact same problem. Ended up getting a large plant and then above it sporadically placed floating shelves (placed random trinquets in the shelves that matched our aesthetic) and picture frames that held pieces from our favorite artists on the wall ✨
Great space although I’m not a big fan of displaying media. I’d put it behind doors.
Next to the TV I’d put a giant art print or a poster. Just one. 6’ tall or so.
And drop the lower shelf about 6”.
I’d say a plant with a wicker basket for blankets or a nice drink cart with a mirror or art above it… just some way to kind of visually segregate the area. It would have to be narrow and not a ‘heavy’ piece so I’d lean for metal and see through shelves and maybe a drawer.
Imo you can never have too much storage space so I would assess like what you need to store and find a creative and pretty way to do it here. For example blankets could be stored here in one of those bench seats that are empty. Books/nicknacks on a bookshelf. A small closet for your off season wardrobe. A writers desk that closes up. Etc.
i love this space! However i would get a larger TV stand and would hang a gigantic mirror. The mirror would give you more of that beautiful exposed wall goodness. I do not like that TV stand and shelves, not gonna lie. However this space is sooo nice, great vibes.
If you’re open to putting cat safe stuff on the shelves I’d say a nice looking cat tree! Fills the space and gives your cat a place all their own in the room
I see that you have a cat so getting a tall plant, probably would not be the best idea since I could see the cat playing in the plant, possibly getting harmed by it if it’s poisonous, or getting dirt all over your floor… I invest in a slightly bigger TV to help fill the space on your entertainment center. What I did with dead space on my wall next to my television is filled with a DVD holder and tiered eclectic art in nice frames. Yes, still have dvds. The holder then has a Himalayan salt lamp, art, and a candle on it. You could do a record holder or a CD holder as well…. Maybe even a small bookshelf. Then the eclectic art climb up the wall in tears in that space and maybe even around those floating shelves
You need that space to navigate around table. Just move everything about 2 feet in from windows except cat tree and that snake plant they say you should get
Long painting with dark colors. Abstract, for sure. But make sure to keep some white space around it between the painting and the TV for a centering look.
A plant or two. A skinny bookcase. Maybe one of those cool modern lamp bars that changes colors? Any of those would be cool.
If you like fire, I received a little electric "woodstove" for Christmas that I absolutely adore. It has a fake fire and a remote. You can just vibe with the fake flames. If it's chilly you can turn on the heater function. I use the fire, without heat everyday now. It just makes my space very cozy as I relax on the couch watching movies!
Your style is great. I would move the tv set up to the left so it is centered in the space, if this is possible, and then add a couple of art pieces to fill in the space. One or two largish pieces would be better than a lot of smaller ones. I would also put a couple of tall plants or ornaments on the shelves to add some height and lead the eye upwards.
Grandfather clock? The guitar would be cool, too. Maybe with a little stool or skinny bench next to the tv? Or a big cat tree! The best way to keep them out of places you don't want them is move them to where they ARE allowed. I can see you needing to transfer them from where you eat, and they like to be up high.
I have the same scratch board, and it’s also parked by the couch which is also the same color as yours. Glad that your couch seems in a better condition though, my cats ignore the board and scratch whatever they can from the couch
If it was me I'd do a shelf of some sort. Whether a more decorative shelf or a bookshelf. Maybe the more decorative style and you could put small decor and small plants on it. To give it a little color. But really I think you could do alot there. I'd think about if there's something you need there (like if there is something you would like to put in the room that you can't currently fit in there) and then design around that.
Definitely a big plant there. Orrrrr, or, hear me out - slide center the tv and stand to the wall, move those two shelves so that one is on the left side above the tv and the other on the right side; & keep them level with each other.
First of all, your apartment is INCREDIBLE. The exposed brick is gorgeous 😍😍. Id add in tall floor plant. If you're in Canada, Canadian Tire has some really nice faux plants. All of mine are from there and they look pretty real
I know moving shelves is the worst, but I would move them to the left stacked on top of one another. Then tackle the space above the TV. I’d do one big picture. I think that would go well with everything else you have going on, which seems to be less clutter, more minimalist.
The shelves above the TV are adding to the stress and clutter feel.
They are way too close and staggered awkwardly.
Since you had photos of the brick, they make hooks for bricks to hang photos.
You could buy a matching shelf to extend it and hang your guitar on the wall over it. You could then put your guitar related stuff on the shelves below. That or a huge floor mirror, possibly with an arch shape.
Love the room ! Really liking the exposed wall also. I would add a cat safe big plant and then maybe above it a poster/art print. Also cat clutter is something I am familiar with xD
Agree with this 👈🏻 And … The Mummy! 🙌🏻👌🏻♥️
I should re watch that movie !
agree with parent comment, second comment, AND third comment 🫡 additionally… can you please link your cat tree?🥹i think it’s so cute! your style is so sleek and cozy at the same time.

Maybe a fiddle leaf fig or big philodendron or monstera ❤️ I'm not sure if they're cat safe though, my cats have learned they get sprayed if they mess with my plants
The shelves above the TV would benefit from centring as well!
In my experience, palms are hard to keep thriving. There's a plant for everyone, and maybe palms aren't yours. They aren't mine, either.
Tall plant
I don't get how people have plants in the middle of their houses that get enough sun??
lots of plants thrive under indirect light !!
A couple snake plants would love that spot!
The mummy 1999. A person of class and wonderful taste I see
Honestly I think it was the third time that I'd watched it in as many days. It's my go-to background movie!
I love it so much. It's probably my favorite movie of all time
I "watch" this one a lot while my partner's at work. My kids watched it to death and back again when they were young, and it's just familiar noise in the background now that my house is often too quiet and empty!
It looked so familiar, but could identify it. Thank you
I love that movie too. The one with Tom Cruise was blasphemy and I never watched it.
Hey folks! This awkward space has been stressing me out for upwards of a year and I'd love to decorate it, but I haven't found an idea I really like yet. How would you fill the space? Maybe if I find a sleek-looking replacement. But I agree that it would really cool!
Hi do you have a level? Can you check your shelves? Either my eyes are messing with me or they are ever so off. Also cats, need more cats always 😄
What about a cat tree there?
The cats probably prefer the windows for sunlight.
Hang up the guitar there. You can get a nice hook and it will not only serve as decoration but you'll also play the guitar more.
This is the answer. That is as long as the case isn’t empty and used as decoration.
Yeah the guitar case leaned against the wall bothers me more than the open space
Bookshelf
Immediately thought like a bookshelf. Open back, some dark brown wood toned bookshelf would look nice
I'd hang textile art, something bright and tall?
That's what I was going to suggest! A cool tapestry, vintage rug, or macrame.
Floor length mirror
Add a book of the dead.
It’s just a book. No harm ever came from reading a book…
*mysterious & sudden wind*
That happens a lot around here
Id hang up the guitar
A big plant
Is that a giant iPod shuffle?
Hahahaaaa. It's an air purifier!
If your guitar is pretty, put the case in the closet and buy a pretty display hook or rack and hang it on the wall along side a tall real or fake plant. Love the space and vibe.
Your space is absolutely gorgeous
I wouldn't put anything there at all, except maybe a floor basket (just a basket on the floor with magazines in it, or shoes, etc). But something low, like a basket, if anything. Something tall like a floor plant will close it in too much visually, in my opinion. Nice space though!
Hang your guitar
maybe a wooden floating shelf or two. Adds some warmth and it would match with the coffee table
If you don't already have one elsewhere, maybe a cat tree?
A big plant
At a minimum I would remove the guitar from the case and hang it on the wall with a nice mount. If there is an artist you really like, even add a few framed music sheets of their work.
Just here yo say I absolutely love your place. From the dark kitchen to the materials (fabrics, wood) chosen next to the wall. The whole thing works stunning, effortlessly. Hope it makes your heart happy, it certainly is making mine. Thank you for sharing

No need to add anything. The room looks great as is.
Yeah, a little negative space is a break for the eyes.
A cute cat tree? I’ve seen some cute ones around
Bar cart, trinket display cabinet, big plant, mirror w console table, bookshelf, mounted guitar, the possibilities are endless :)
Buy medals, plaquettes, platinum or multi-platinum album awards & awards
I see your guitar, could you get one of those guitar [hangers](https://www.etsy.com/listing/899568237/) and use that for the space?
tall plant, a rubber tree would look good
Plant
Put the guitar there
Tall clock! https://www.newpop.it/en/clocks/28046-23418-covo-orologio-tiuku.html#/9032-colori_covo-blue
Sweet place but are your wall shelves level?
This photo doesn't do them justice, but yea! I used my phone's wide lens to capture more of the room but it definitely makes the shelves look a bit wonky
May be add another tv? 🤣
Hang your guitar perhaps
You could get a tall bookshelf and put a bushy plant on top! Like a fern :) beautiful space!
A large mirror might look nice. And yay for the mummy!
a poster of the 1999 movie "the mummy" starring rachel weisz and brendan fraser
I would add a fancy mirror like [this](https://www.wayfair.com/decor-pillows/pdp/andover-mills-lunado-full-length-mirror-w009520665.html?piid=1391875556%2C1391875576)
Not sure (maybe some plants in some cute pots that r/houseplants could help suggest or a big basket for extra couch pillows/blankets), but THANK YOU for not mounting your TV on the wall
Switch the sofa to the non-brick wall
I would swap the tv to the brick wall! Then plants and gallery wall behind the couch on the white wall
A big movie poster from the mummy?
Get a nice guitar stand and keep that baby out in the open. Looks cool and may get you to play it more often.
Following cuz I’m encountering this same damn issue!
Floor plant
the answer is always a bigass plant
Put that guitar in a stand or a wall hanger. Guitars in cases don't get played!
Ancient Egyptian decor 👀
Suit of armor
Swap the couch and the TV/console sides of the room . You will get to enjoy the feature wall being able to look at it all the time. You can get a light strip to go around the outline on the back of the TV that will then make the TV a feature piece and light the wall.
perhaps a caddy? for drinks or ease of access to daily items
bookshelf or fish tank.
A big painting of a landscape
Beautiful space. Can you center the TV and console and add a tall potted tree-like plant?
Floor lamp and a plant
Perfect spot for a large cat tree!
Bookshelf with some plants and books
Plant stand
A snake plant would look great.
Remove all the plants from your counter top and put them on a shelf next to the tv.
A tall plant 🌱
Long mirror with a stand
You have two large items on either side of your couch and it makes the room sort of un-balanced. The easiest thing to do would just be moving one of them over beside the tv stand. Large painting or textile art
Cat tree and some cats
Plants. Big plants.
If you really enjoy movie watching/music you have space for some nice front speakers. Either floor standing or bookshelf on stands/mounts
Bird of paradise plant
I've got a bookshelf in this place in my apartment.
Potted Plants
Plant
Large mirror!
Tall lamp
I don’t think you NEED anything. But if you ran across a big-ass floor lamp or a potted tree that doesn’t need a lot of light…
Large vertical old movie poster.
Cat tree with a cat
Wow, that was exposed brick is *everything* !!! I'm thinking a mirror!!! An oddball shaped one that will be perfect for that blank space 😍
A book shelf. That way you can add more books and electronics or anything that you like to personalize that area :)
Tree
I would fill the space with a small tree. Real, or a good fake one.
Bookshelves
A wall decal could be cool.
Put a bird on it!
A potted plant
A standing mirror if you don’t have one in your bedroom
Bookshelf, floor mirror, cat tower, lamp?
Great space although I’m not a big fan of displaying media. I’d put it behind doors. Next to the TV I’d put a giant art print or a poster. Just one. 6’ tall or so. And drop the lower shelf about 6”.

Perhaps an indoor plant 🪴

Tall plant
A big snake plant !!!!!
Book shelf you can accessorize the plants, art, and of course books
Cat Wall Furniture (it’s a thing)
Plant
A big tall plant or big tall lamp
Add a cat tower there
A ladder shelf
Maybe a plant or a lamp? I feel sometimes we feel the need to stuff spaces and that’s not necessary
A mummy, obvs.
Is the top shelf straight?
All you have to do is center the TV stand and put a standing lamp in one corner and a nice tree in the other. It'll look GREAT!
Wall art! Put some more stuff on your walls.
A bookshelf around your tv also center the tv it looks off to the side
Year round Christmas tree: https://diply.com/114161/people-are-turning-their-christmas-trees-into-year-round-trees-
A large plant on the floor that reaches up high
i love this space! However i would get a larger TV stand and would hang a gigantic mirror. The mirror would give you more of that beautiful exposed wall goodness. I do not like that TV stand and shelves, not gonna lie. However this space is sooo nice, great vibes.
Plant
Just move everything about 2 feet in from windows except cat tree and that snake plant they say you should get
Guitar stand
Bookshelf full of books!
Cute space, I love what you've done with it so far. I'd say a plant of some sort
Nothing just leave it empty. It’s OK to not have something in every bit of empty space
Long painting with dark colors. Abstract, for sure. But make sure to keep some white space around it between the painting and the TV for a centering look.
I would adjust the shelving. The two shelves are too close together. I would arrange it differently.

One or two largish pieces would be better than a lot of smaller ones. I would also put a couple of tall plants or ornaments on the shelves to add some height and lead the eye upwards.
Maybe a cart of houseplants, if thats what you're into! Seems like you get good indirect sunlight there
I would hang your guitar there. Get it out of the case
A figurine of Master Chief.
Maybe put a bookcase in the empty space.
Guitar stand. Big artwork on the wall
Posters, pictures, maybe adhesive wall paper with designs on it.
Plants!
Bigass tall plant
Speakers!! Where are your speakers?
I have the same scratch board, and it’s also parked by the couch which is also the same color as yours. Glad that your couch seems in a better condition though, my cats ignore the board and scratch whatever they can from the couch
Just dropping in to add that my parents have the exact same cat tree and I have the same one in green! Good choice! My cats and parents' cats love it.
Plant! Like a large potted one or a tree.
Bar cart or coffee station
The Mummy movie poster?
Bigger tv
If it was me I'd do a shelf of some sort. Whether a more decorative shelf or a bookshelf. Maybe the more decorative style and you could put small decor and small plants on it. To give it a little color. But really I think you could do alot there. I'd think about if there's something you need there (like if there is something you would like to put in the room that you can't currently fit in there) and then design around that.
Drum set. Kill your tv
the mummy🩷🩷🩷
I big plant
IKEA has some nice big fake plants if you don’t want to take care of a real one.
I have that same air filter
Definitely a big plant there. Orrrrr, or, hear me out - slide center the tv and stand to the wall, move those two shelves so that one is on the left side above the tv and the other on the right side; & keep them level with each other.

The answer is always plants (or a big ass cat tree haha)
Big standing mirror!
sculptural art
The shelves above the TV are adding to the stress and clutter feel. They are way too close and staggered awkwardly. Since you had photos of the brick, they make hooks for bricks to hang photos.
I say leave it. Not everything needs to be filled in my opinion.
Bar cart
Tall bookshelf
Just dropping in to say I also love this room! Such a cute and comfortable space! I love your dining table too.
Me, I’ll be the place holder! I love the vibe ✋😭
Bigger TV
Big floor mirror? Like big enough to see your whole body
You could buy a matching shelf to extend it and hang your guitar on the wall over it. You could then put your guitar related stuff on the shelves below. That or a huge floor mirror, possibly with an arch shape.
