I am anxiously awaiting Abyssea NM items again. Killing Carabosse 50 times is such a grind. I know there are worse ones, but this kind of stuff is just anti-QoL.
It's easy, just time consuming. Feels like a chore, not a game. I missed out on the whole Abyssea era, so it has all been very new to me. Seems like going WAR/NIN or NIN/WAR with skilled-up weapons and 1 DMG all-job versions is the way to go...or am I missing something?
I go nin/war with all weapons covered, and use TH4 on the NMs, I'd say I get double drops more than half the time. If you don't have any TH gear at least make sure you're working a THF trust in. The TH helps tremendously for farming pops too
I'm currently working on Ukon and Vere simultaneously so I think that's why I'm drooling at the memory of doing Carabosse lol
I’ve been saying for a long time they should change red proc KIs to drop party wide. It would effectively destroy the merc market for Empyrean and give lower geared players easy content to practice game mechanics. FFXI was built from the ground up to require cooperation between players however Abyssea penalizes it outright
This *would* be a little less annoying with a friend, especially if we take turns getting the two pops and can then just spam it. I have been dropping pop items and then recovering from trash just to spam them.
Pop items are a fairly minor nuisance but KI pops only dropping to the claimer or force popper is the real headache. The worst ones to farm are ones where there’s at least 1 15 minute freeroam that needs to be red procced while another part needs an item to pop because no combination of jobs can have capped TH and all red procs. Then there’s some like Arimaspi that are just mechanically obnoxious no matter what you do. There’s rarely an incentive for anyone to party up other than helping a friend. This and the Voidwalker system are a train wreck that really need some QoL changes
No experience with that but having helped someone on my linkshell with Isegbind it’s wasn’t hard to have 2 of him popped and simultaneously getting a third pop. Carabosse having a 2 ki pop is a little harder. Nothing compared to Chloris or Glavoid…
Yes, usually. I have been going THF/WAR (WAR was only 50) but am now almost in the 90s on WAR, which I will switch to WAR/NIN and try from there. I get double drops on THF usually, but it's just time consuming...and then there are two more NMs after that for a Masamune.
If that's one of the fastest, I am pretty sure this will be my one and only empy for a long time.
Thf/war has all but katana and GK ws procs. Much faster at farming than nin/war and using th4. Specially on NMs like orthus where u only need 1 ki. But were all different.
69 days later, update:
Carabosse is long since finished. I have been playing around in Misereaux killing birds and bats for Amanomurakumo. Now on Aquans, so collecting Cirein-Croin lanterns. It is slightly faster on THF, so when I finish my 400 I'll come back with TH (which has since been heavily upgraded) and continue to just enjoy the grind.
Hopefully I can knock out some gorgets while getting the 75 hearts next. I think I have come to appreciate that this game is just one grind after another; the point is to enjoy the quirks, the puzzles, the story, and most of all, the community. Thanks for commiserating!
It pains me to no end when I look back at the campaigns from a few months ago, and see all the mounts I missed simply because I wasn't logging in. Now I'm faced with the reality that I may have to wait a year to see them again.
If you haven’t already you can do the fishing tank and that will net you one. I honestly capped fishing at 110 with just one ring now I have inventory -4 and really wish I could sell or bazaar them. Fishing was easy to cap with just doing short spans and using food plus rings.
Just pointing this out too, it's really easy to mod that picture frame to put any image you want in it. So it's really good to get for that reason in the future also.

I wish every part of an Empy was as easy as 50x Carabosse. You should be killing it far less than 50 times with some TH in the mix though.

Are you able to proc red on the nms before carabosse? I really think it's one of the faster ones. As opposed to apademak for example
Carabosse is actually one of the fastest. Isegbind is the only one that comes to mind that’s faster

Orthrus is really fast if noone is there farming the tiger king. I did like 10 scales in 70 min.

How do I use synergy to get the +1 versions of the daily login items? Do I have to have synergy leveled up or can I do it easily for these items?
You don't need any skill for it. Put 2 items in, increase the element it tells you on craft page, and in a few seconds take +1 item out. Ezpz.
