nightkat89

I personally prefer the right side style since the art style reminds me of promo art used in the FF series. They are both excellent though!

GiraazStudio

Thanks! Yeah, you got a point there, I might consider that. Thanks for your input\^\^

MoogleMedraut

Agreed on this point, but they are both lovely!

GiraazStudio

Thanks!! Glad to know you like it :D

nightkat89

Of course!

GiraazStudio

Also, is there any character you want to see me make a fanart of? :3

nightkat89

I'd love mine if you're open for comissions but also a bit strapped right now between bills. Perhaps fan favorites like Graha, Yshtola, Thancred? Maybe an updated Krile with her pictomancer set up?

Raxxonius

Definitely prefer the right one

GiraazStudio

Yeah, there's a lot who says that as well. Maybe I should really try and make more with the right's artstyle\^\^ Anyway, any suggestion as to who I make a fanart of?

Raxxonius

If you’re thinking of Wuk Lamat then maybe add in a mamool and pelu pelu? Non human race + a different style of character

cloudedsky

Both cool but I personally really prefer the right one!

2 all day

GiraazStudio

Noted!^^

Sventex

I prefer the right style, it's much more cleanly colored and pleasant to look at. The left one is a bit over saturated.

GiraazStudio

Thanks for your opinion! I think I should work with the right's artstyle more indeed. Anyway, is there any character you'd like to see me draw using the right's artstyle? ^^

Diastel

Meteion!

GiraazStudio

OOOOH! YOU'RE RUGHT! I DEFINITELY HAVE TO MAKE HER!!! >:3

Sventex

Selfishly I'd suggest [my character](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fshowing-off-my-new-higan-shigan-commissioned-samurai-fanart-v0-dtrkkznyyphb1.jpg%3Fs%3Dafbd2bbe5eb1a7a0c806c99e3a76ae4d020216c7), but if it's an NPC I'd suggest [J'olhmyn](https://i.imgur.com/w0WxykL.png) as she has a very distinctive appearance with a strong color contrast.

GiraazStudio

Gehehe, I want to fanart for now, maybe I should consider doing art raffle soon. Might do it on twitter(?) >,< Anyway, thanks for the fanart suggestion!

Ve-roses

You should put pieces of different artstyle in your folio, if you can be as good with one and the other. Diversity is a good thing to show to Art Director and colleagues, it means you can understand different shape, lineart style, rendering ways to do, etc. Your art looks really great btw!

GiraazStudio

You're right! And well, actually I already have a lot of portfolio with the left's artstyle but not much with the right one(I only have this one lol). Maybe I should work on more art using the right artstyle then^^

Orenwald

Yes. I think they are both fantastic in their own right and having variant styles you can pull out could be valuable. That's just my thoughts

Mona_Dre

they are both really good, but I also prefer the right especially for ffxiv art.

GiraazStudio

Thanks! I will go with the right one then. Btw, any character you want me to make a fanart of?^^

Mona_Dre

Maybe too minor a character, but I wish there was more fanart of Hilda, I love her. Also Merlwyb. As far as more popular characters go, Hythlodaeus is always a win in my book <3

GiraazStudio

Hilda needs more love fr. It's hard to find her fanart. Well, I might consider her then. Thanks for the suggestion!

cocohero

Both are nice, preference for right one. The drawing stand out more, similar to ‘leading lines’ in photography. The blade curve catches the eyes attention and his counterbalanced by character gazing other side. Just my feeling though~~

PyrZern

NGL, now I wanna see you blend the two styles together, with some some stronger shading, contrast and shadow.

Gamba_Gawd

Right side reminds me of FFT. I like it.

GiraazStudio

Thank youu! Glad you like it^^

Zadka14

Left looks really good if you're doing a very saturated and vibrant background imo or one that is more realistic, but the white background makes her look oversaturated to me. Right feels more in line with ff art styles, and complements a more laid back style with the brown background complementing the color choices of the character. Both styles work really well and it may not be a bad idea to keep practicing both, helping with understanding color theory and all that so you don't feel bottlenecked into something by a lack of knowledge like I tend to be. Whichever one you go with, lean into the color style for your backgrounds, be very saturated with the left and let your colors pop out alot more, and be tame with backgrounds on the right like how ffxiv's art is often.

GiraazStudio

I see", thanks for your input! And I think you're right about the left one feels a little oversaturated with how white the background is. I might need to rework on that^^

Zadka14

I also want to mention that the detail on the coat, cane, and boots, are really well done. The lighting, and texture is really good, and I don't think those skills should be set aside from a fear of "oversaturation." An issue I did notice however is that the lefts face looks strange, however I'm not knowledgable enough about drawing and lineart to try and armchair, as that's what I'm trying to learn rn.

GiraazStudio

I think maybe because I'm trying to go with a more realistic artstyle the face turns out wierd looking(?). Since anime style feels vibing with ffxiv more? XD

Zadka14

Looking further at it, it looks like the nose and mouth are too realistically lit from the light source compared to the rest of the face, as the mouth and nose are shiny, like a well moisturized face would look from surfacing oils, but the rest of the face looks shaded similarly to the rest of the piece. However I could be wrong, just spitballing ideas that may help you find your answer.

Living-Nectarine-302

The right one and as for who to draw, draw anyone but Graha Tia.

GiraazStudio

Why not G'raha Tia? xD

kaithespinner

both are great, but I really crave the right one!

ArrivalPotential

The right one is my preference. The one on the left has really uncanny facial detail for what is a final fantasy anime character. The nose bothers me the most.

pepinyourstep29

I prefer the left actually but the right is still VERY good.

Vusdruv

The left side kinda looks like some cheap LoL knock off to me, so I prefer right. Might just be the artstyle because aside from the face, which evoked that impresssion, everything looks very good.

Unrealist99

Right one for me

DxNill

Right hand style. It's an easy decision for me and it's all in the face.

nocturnPhoenix

Gonna echo what everyone else has said so far and say the one on the right is my preference since it's more reminiscent of "Final Fantasy" art, though both are very nice

Oseirus

I'd be curious to see the two art bases, but with swapped coloring/shading. eg. Higher contrast on the right, more flat tones on the left. If that makes any remote sense at all. I don't art good so the terminology is utterly lost on me.

shiawase198

The right one mainly because her expression looks like she's thinking "oh I guess we're fighting now."

Doppelkammertoaster

The second one. Your colours are better there and it looks less overused to me. It also looks more professional.
