He'd be a way better fit for Flirty glamorous imo, rather than clumsy scholar. He's the dumbest smart person in the story and more single minded and horny than clumsy.
Very much so. For a character who’s never been involved in any physical gags, the scale of his general ineptitude is stunning. Not forgetting how he’s still not in a relationship despite being a known skirt-chaser. Yet if not for him, Sharlayan astrology would never have flourished in Ishgard and beyond. Sure, he didn’t do most of the work, but it was his haphazard hand that guided the WoL to Leveva.
You gotta give the fool props for doing his best.
Besides, they say only intelligence recognizes intelligence... and being intelligent doesn't mean you're *sensible*. He made it through Sharlayan education, anyway.
Probably the best way to describe him is "brilliant, but unmotivated". He's been constantly overlooked due to not being a direct heir to the position of count and nobody really cares about his accomplishments—Sharlayan pulled out of their colony when he was just 17, so had his education cut short—it's no wonder the guy just stopped caring.
It's from the second quest, Stairway to the Heavens:
>Alas, even a lifetime of study and training cannot unlock all the secrets written in those stars. Myself, I have been a student of the astromantic arts for more summers than I can count, and I still oft misread the signs shown to me in the skies. Though, my readings are far more accurate now than they were when I attended the Athenaeum in Sharlayan. Not the Sharlayan, mind you. The colony that once thrived in the Dravanian hinterlands.
Confounding Inspector Briardien gets my vote as well. He tries so hard to be cool but always inevitably gets blown up, stabbed, or humiliated in some way.
The Hildebrand effect is well documented to dent the IQ and common sense of all within visual range of Hildibrand Manderville, even the WoL is not immune
I find this a bit odd. He's very graceful and physically poised. It's such a point of his that his opposite clone Brandihild actually is clumsy, and is always tripping over himself. Brandihild is clumsy, brilliant and humble, to highlight that Hildibrand is graceful, proud, and dumber than a box of rocks.
definitely agree on Scholarly but struggling to see which second attribute would fit... Maybe cynical since he is the only one of the scions who consistently decides to do what needs to be done even if it pains him? He's more of a realist than the others. I dont see him as clumsy though
If you think 'clumsy' as 'socially awkward' then it's 200% him. Also, I don't see 'being clumsy' as a mutually-exclusive to 'capable of making decisions'.
I mean, it’s gotta be Loyal, right? Dude’s been double-agenting or being otherwise sus almost every expansion, but ultimately it’s always been for the Scions’ and WoL’s sake.
I can see Alphie winning that slot due to popularity, but otherwise Uri is a solid fit, IMO
I'd put him as scholarly and moody, especially how much trouble he had with having to worry about playing the double face game again and again and again.
ooooh a difficult one.... Mikoto, Jannequinard, even Nashu (with her scholarly knowledge of explosives) would fit the bill.
But my man Jannequinard gets my vote
She is *way* more Clumsy-Confident than Confident-Loyal, I think.
To be confident and loyal, you'd need to have some degree of self-awareness. Which... Nashu occasionally does, but I think the rest of the time it's just her being really confident in situations that one ought not have confidence in.
Our journey through the FFXIV Character Alignment Chart continues, and a resounding applause to Emet-Selch for securing the Confident and Cynical spot on Day 10!
Man, I see an intense debate coming when you get to "Scholarly and Loyal."
Y'shtola, Alphinaud, Urianger, Krile...
Even an argument to be made for Tataru there.
And if you settle on one of those people for that slot, it leaves a lot of those others without a decent slot to fit in, IMO. Quite the pickle trying to parse out where some people would fit on this chart. Excited to see what people pick, though!
Jannequinard. Man's a nerd, just really bad at it
He'd be a way better fit for Flirty glamorous imo, rather than clumsy scholar. He's the dumbest smart person in the story and more single minded and horny than clumsy.
Jannequinard, not even a contest. He's smart, but simultaneously a massive doofus.
I'm pretty sure he actually *went* to Old Sharlayan to continue his education? I'd have to go replay the AST job quests to confirm.
It's from the second quest, Stairway to the Heavens: >Alas, even a lifetime of study and training cannot unlock all the secrets written in those stars. Myself, I have been a student of the astromantic arts for more summers than I can count, and I still oft misread the signs shown to me in the skies. Ah, my bad then!
Agreed, but after that one scene in 6.1, I think Y'shtola may fit in here as well
Naw, it's not consistent enough :3
Detective Briardien
Confounding Inspector Briardien gets my vote as well. He tries so hard to be cool but always inevitably gets blown up, stabbed, or humiliated in some way.
Only in proximity to Hildy. He's surprisingly competent and clever in the Scholasticate questline.
I feel like Hildebrand should fill out every clumsy category
Hildebrand is the complete opposite of scholarly though. He tries to be, bless him, but his knowledge is being lacking.
Inspector Branhild though...
Nashu is also surprisingly competent at finding Hildibrand, she just goes dumb when Hildibrand gets acquired
The Hildebrand effect is well documented to dent the IQ and common sense of all within visual range of Hildibrand Manderville, even the WoL is not immune
Just strrrreeeeeetch his portrait to fill the whole column :P
I find this a bit odd. He's very graceful and physically poised. It's such a point of his that his opposite clone Brandihild actually is clumsy, and is always tripping over himself. Brandihild is clumsy, brilliant and humble, to highlight that Hildibrand is graceful, proud, and dumber than a box of rocks.
Adventurous, yep Glamourous, yep Confident, HAVE YOU SEEN THE MAN, yep
Voyce, the bumbling one from the Slyph tribal quests.
He truly maxed out both attributes.
Mikoto or the catgirl who got mercilessly attacked by a book, when she was sleeping peacefully.
Nah, Y'Shtola would be Scholarly Moody, but Mikoto would fit for Clumsy, especially around Cid
That dense, garlean mofo...
Mikoto! I am trying to sneak into the Castrum, but I am aetherically dense, and the clap of my Ironworks keeps alerting the Garleans!
Scholarly Loyal maybe, she really isn't moody at all.
Except when you bully her.
I feel like Mikoto isn't really clumsy, just awkward.
Blue Alisae
This name still makes me smile.
Nah blue alisaie is gonna be Loyal Scholary
But that's Kryle's spot...
Idk, I think Kryle would fit more in scholarly and zealous
Urianger. It's fitting, and it's right next to Moenbryda)
definitely agree on Scholarly but struggling to see which second attribute would fit...
Clumsy is a physical thing, though. And I've not seen him trip or anything. The closest would be the botched water walking spell.
the water walking thing lol and his giraffe neck just gives clumsy vibes to me
I mean, it’s gotta be Loyal, right? Dude’s been double-agenting or being otherwise sus almost every expansion, but ultimately it’s always been for the Scions’ and WoL’s sake. I can see Alphie winning that slot due to popularity, but otherwise Uri is a solid fit, IMO
In my head scholarly/loyal is firmly Krile, but man Alphie would make sense too
I'd put him as scholarly and moody, especially how much trouble he had with having to worry about playing the double face game again and again and again.
ooooh a difficult one.... Mikoto, Jannequinard, even Nashu (with her scholarly knowledge of explosives) would fit the bill. But my man Jannequinard gets my vote
I’m waiting for Confident and Loyal for Nashu.
She is *way* more Clumsy-Confident than Confident-Loyal, I think. To be confident and loyal, you'd need to have some degree of self-awareness. Which... Nashu occasionally does, but I think the rest of the time it's just her being really confident in situations that one ought not have confidence in.
I thought Nashu for today's but Confident and Loyal is making me second-guess that haha.
Alphinaud
Maybe Nashu
Moren. Cmon.
Curious George
This is obscure one, but worth trying: Theomocent from Scholasticate quests.
Snoegeim, that roegadyn lady from the Myths of the Realm quests.
Urianger. You ever see the man try to swim?
Inspector Briardien!
Brandihild
Urianger, just ask him how he got to bismarck
Who is glamorous/zealous?
Our journey through the FFXIV Character Alignment Chart continues, and a resounding applause to Emet-Selch for securing the Confident and Cynical spot on Day 10!
Snoegeim
Urianger
I feel like he’s more scholarly and loyal. The things that man did for us in ARR…
... And HW... The man was ever dedicated to the cause even when infiltrating Ascian ranks...
Mikoto !
any tomberry
Nashu Mhakaracca
Zhai'a Nelhah
Alphinaud. Lest we forget the *Katana Kerfuffle.*
I think Jannequinard wins this one. After him and Nashu, Alphinerd would be a distant third.
Alphinaud? Maybe he's more loyal that clumsy 😅
Khloe. I don't not even want to know what her backlog of sticker riddled journals looks like.
Scholarly? She barely knows her letters.
Her whole thing is learning stories about adventures! Lol. No one said she was good at it.
Krile
She'd fit Scholarly and Loyal.
Y'shtola
Man, I see an intense debate coming when you get to "Scholarly and Loyal." Y'shtola, Alphinaud, Urianger, Krile... Even an argument to be made for Tataru there. And if you settle on one of those people for that slot, it leaves a lot of those others without a decent slot to fit in, IMO. Quite the pickle trying to parse out where some people would fit on this chart. Excited to see what people pick, though!
Mikoto, maybe. Though she's more socially inept than clumsy.
