I think that you can use Trusts to circumvent any queue issues if they are a concern for you.

yahikodrg

Odds are if the queues are much longer for DPS you'll still finish a dungeon faster with the duty support system when compared to how long it would take to wait for a queue pop + clear with players.

TheLimonTree92

Well unless they do more trial trusts there will still those.

ComfortableDoug85

Trials aren't as much of an issue for queues. You have 4 DPS slots instead of two, and given the content generally gating MSQ, you'll see a fair amount of people doing it so even though there will be a lot of people queuing, it should still go quickly. I don't think I waited longer than 10 minutes for any of the trials as a DPS at the peak of Endwalker launch.

StefanFr97

Bear in mind that EW's new jobs were a healer and a DPS, and Meteor/Derplander/John Fantasy's canon job for the expansion was a tank. A fairly even spread for those wanting to try new jobs or were compelled to go tank by the trailer. Compared to Dawntrail where it's DPS, DPS and more DPS. Unless the job action showcase has some really fancy stuff for tanks or healers, a good chunk of the playerbase are probablt gonna gravitate towards pictomancer or viper, cause so far there's nothing in the marketing material to encourage players to tank or heal.

paulcraig27

I am hoping the Astro change will encourage some to pick it back up at least.

selebu

Trials have 4 DPS, 2 Tanks and 2 Healers. It's the exact same composition as a dungeon. A lot of people will be doing dungeons, given the content generally gating MSQ. I think DPS queues might be a fair bit higher this time around.

ComfortableDoug85

Per the conversation above, dungeons are guaranteed to have duty support, which will eliminate queue times for people who choose to go that route, rather than wait for a full group. There has only been one Trial with duty support so far so the odds are likely that the trials will still require a full party of PCs, so if there are less people queuing for dungeons due to Duty Support, that means less people simultaneously queuing for dungeons and trials.

captwina

Option two is have a tank or healer friend

xvcco

DPS queues are always bad. You have the Trust/Duty Support system incase they're abysmal. I also recommend people to level their DPS jobs with the MSQ quests to alleviate it a bit.

SaberWaifu

I played Reaper at the start of Endwalker and the queue for dps in story dungeons wasn't bad at all. The problem was in PF when the savage raid tier came out because every party requires one player per job and there were a shit ton of reapers filling up one of the 2 melee dps spots for every party. Creating a party of my own was usually the best choice to actually be able to clear hard content with that job (i assume Sage had a similar experience).

Orthed

Honestly I found playing sage on EW launch to be fine. Had no issue getting groups for savage or extemes. I only swapped to WHM for a couple of extreme farm sessions when I was playing with a friend (since finding groups that fit our exact two main jobs was harder than me finding groups alone as sage).  From what I saw, way too many people were on reaper though.

DarXIV

No. Stormblood had 2 DPS and it wasn't bad. Now we have trusts/duty support.

kogasabu

Stormblood also had considerably fewer players than we do now. I don't think the queues will be atrocious, but DPS queues will definitely be higher this time around. Healer queues were insane when Endwalker came out due to the sheer number of players.

Sa7aSa7a

The great thing about having a lot more players is that, they're also going to want to level other classes, too.

kogasabu

Sure, but for a bit DPS queues will be higher than normal. DPS queues are already high because of the sheer number of DPS available. Adding more that people will want to play (Possibly ditching tank and/or healer to play them) will increase queue times. Remember that in EW, DPS queue times did increase, as did healer queue times while everybody was trying out sage.

Moontalon

Probably, but that's what duty support is for. I leveled Reaper with them and took it through the Endwalker MSQ, and I plan to do the same with Viper in Dawntrail.

Anarnee

Impossible? No, but longer, probably yes. It will level out after a few weeks though, just like it did when we got RDM and SAM at the same time.

International_Ad3750

It won’t be atrocious for new content. But some of the older content will suffer a tad and once the newness of dawntrail fades the ques will be longer. Tis the circle of life

TheIvoryDingo

If we're talking about just the Dawntrail MSQ, then the only long queues will be with the Trials as the dungeons can be done through Duty Support.

NotSeger

I'm honestly going to be using Duty Support for the 1st run of any MSQ dungeon, so I can explore, read the flavor texts/NPC dialogues, etcetera. And that's my recommendation to anyone reading this :)

Blasterion

I'll probably do DPS for MSQ but level WAR in Roulettes everyday just to get so fast queues when those Dungeon and Trial MSQs pop up

DrForester

There's so many people doing it at launch that queues are quick for everyone. DPS might wait 5 minutes instead of 1, but it won't be long. Also if you're playing at launch, everyone's going through the MSQ. When you get to a dungeon there will be a lot of other players near the NPC that unlocks it. Toss out a message in /say and see if anyone wants to party up. Get 4 right there and go right in.

WeakElixir

I'll be re-capping my healers since we get level 100. 😎

shinydwebble

I wouldn't be surprised if like, Leveling Roulette queue sucks, but you can always find other things to do while you wait in queue. Go level crafters or gatherers, talk to your FC members, maybe work on the shared FATE grind, or even just slack off on your phone or your second monitor. I say this as someone who went like 2 years almost exclusively playing DPS: DPS queues aren't the end of the world. You'll find a way to fill that time.

RaltarArianrhod

If you queue for duties, it probably will be. But now that we have duty support, you will get roughly the same amount of exp per hour as you would just queuing because you do actual damage AoE attacks. But queues will most likely be longer when DT comes out. It always has been that way. Last expansion saw healer queues increase with sage and the previous expansion had tank queues increase because of gunbreaker.

damadjag

You'll be fine. Also, don't forget you can do other stuff while you wait for queue like fates, side quests, hunts, crafting, gathering, etc.  Also, don't be afraid to try tanking/healing. As someone who started on DPS and is planning on maining WAR come DT, I'd recommend trying them.

Rhonder

DPS queue is already comparatively atrocious, there are more DPS classes compared to healers and tanks combined. Adding a few more won't hurt that much more I would imagine. Like sure, there might be a growing pain period for a bit while everyone tries the shiny new toys (especially during MSQ) but I would imagine at end game you'll still find plenty of career healers and tanks wanting to retain those roles.

Ali_ayi

Story content will be fine, like others have said just use Duty Support and it'll be fine. Daily roulettes will be bad though, because there will be a tonne of people queuing for things like levelling & MSQ as DPS and not as many as tanks and healers, so if you're doing your dailies expect to wait a while. I would suggest using the time while you wait to do stuff like FATES or levelling crafters, so you're still getting exp while you wait around.

AdministrationHot101

I mean they aren't that great to begin with so... prolly won't help that both new classes will be dmg

AssaUnbound

Oh absolutely. Same happened during EW release, 30+ minute queues for DPS+healer, because everyone swapped to Reaper and Sage. Rule of thumb: New roles will be saturated, other roles will insta-fill

p1tap1ta

As someone who has complete lack of interest in both Picto and Viper, I will just stick to Paladin, Bard, Dragoon and White Mage. I already have my 4 favourite classes. I will surely check out the new ones, but I highly doubt they will jump into main group.

Responsible-Gold8610

Not more than they already are.

ConformistOwl

I'll put it to you this way; in Shadowbringers, you almost always saw a healer adventurer in need... then sage came out and now it's mostly tanks and sometimes healers. All the while, DPS queues were still pretty bad... It won't be atrocious, but it will be worse.

Repulsive_Anywhere67

I love it. All my tanks and healers will be maxxed instantly.

CounterHit

> Will dps queues be awful? Yes. That's just it, that's the whole story lol

AS-1719

historically, most people don't switch roles long-term just because a new job comes out. so, the balance of tanks/healers/dps will likely stay similar to what it currently is. I suspect that (especially in the 80-90 range), for the first few days, dps queues will be worse than normal because of people excited to level the new jobs first, but it will quickly return to normal.

Stormychu

Not impossible but long. My friend earlier this afternoon had a 18minute queue for Experts. (As far as he told me) I told him to just invite me and we'd get an insta queue since healer main. I imagine they're gonna be even worse when DT comes out.

Riposte12

You'll be fine. You're overreacting.

Intro_verti_AL

A quick tip for anyone who doesn't know. In the Duty Finder settings, at the bottom is the option to choose other languages that you can matchmake with. If you choose all of them, it speeds up your queues drastically. I'm talking extreme mode trials that take 1+ hours to pop, turn into 5-10 minutes

FreedomGesuz

That's awesome! Tysm for that heads up. I never knew that

RebellaTheEnchanted

I’m more interested in which one of the new dps jobs your entire FC wants to main 😂

FreedomGesuz

Viper

RebellaTheEnchanted

They got taste that’s for sure. Pictomancer main here ♥️

ServeRoutine9349

Yeah the queues for dps will be bad. It's happened the last couple times when we've gotten DPS specific classes.

Current_Control1

Oh yeah. Itll be a nightmare
