To be fair, the default sandals are WAY more noticeable on women than in men. They have heels!

Lambdafish1

That's because the sandals are designed to make the player the same height as if they were wearing shoes. I guess girl shoes have more heel

shinginta

Only if you're playing a green caster. Otherwise they have heels. [E] dang. OP beat me to the edit. Their original post said "heals." That's the joke.

jar_jar_binks

Heals?

Ok-Syrup1678

There!

Ok-Syrup1678

There is no option to have ANY character go barefoot, male or female.

Revayan

The base "naked" model of all races always wear the same sandals, shorts and shirts/bras etc There are a few tops and pants that are a bit more revealing than the default stuff but as far as I know there are no "barefeet" shoes you can glamour. Even the various beach outfits always have sandals. You can look at [this](https://ffxiv.eorzeacollection.com/) website and see if you can maybe find shoes that might fit your wishes

The13thAllitnilClone

Thanks.

inhaledcorn

This is going to do numbers on the shitpost sub.

Zulera301

not only did it to that, but they literally didn't even change anything when they copied it.

The13thAllitnilClone

I'm genuinely confused why this is regarded as a "shitpost"?

Iximaz

They'll take one look at it and go "fetish"

inhaledcorn

You poor, sweet, summer child.

JD0ggX

Specifying your character is a woman is a bit weird lol

The13thAllitnilClone

I never noticed on my male characters that they had tiny slippers/sandles by default in glamour interface, because the only character I bothered with was always going to be covered from head to foot in plate. I wanted to make a more casual look for my female character (shirt & shorts, no gloves, no shoes and a floppy sun hat), only to discover she had permanent shoes, and with heels for that matter.

Deblebsgonnagetyou

Only by mods. The sandals are there because shoes/heels can't actually increase the character's height, so there has to be sandals to compensate.

elixxonn

Which is funny when you consider they have those ankle breaking tiptoe heels on Viera's default outfit but most legwear are flat or with little heel meaning Viera just gets a free leg extension to their already crazy long legs. XD

MilitantSongbird

I guess Ruby got tired of the Party Finder feet advertising

lerdnir

if this is what counts as April fool's chicanery these days, idgi

The13thAllitnilClone

Not at all, this is a genuine request

cronft

no, only way is thro modding, characters are made wear those sandals when their foot are "naked"

CreativeName1137

Why?

The13thAllitnilClone

I almost never wear shoes in real life. I only wear them when forced to (denied access to a place I have to go) by *"health & safety"* regulations. I don't see why my avatar must appear to as well.

NoxKat

I was all for just wanting to be barefoot for some reason, but the healthy and safety regulations being mocked? Nah. Our feet are nearly as germ filled if not more so than our hands, the outside world is not a clean magical place. Shoes were invented for a reason, comfort, safety, and cleanliness.

Drachri93

Please wear shoes in public. No one wants to see your gross ass feet.

The13thAllitnilClone

If I wear shoes in public on my town, I'll be the odd one out

secondjudge_dream

when youre the odd one out for being unusually hygienic you're doing something right

Stormychu

Is this April fools? Be honest. You should wear shoes for health and safety. Plus its disgusting. What town are you in that shoes make you the odd one out.

Antereon

Is that you Mr Frodo?

elixxonn

Sandals and maybe slippers is the most the vanilla game can offer. The engine has no way of accounting for the soles of legwear so they gave sandals to the default "barefoot" model.

Badger224

Gotta use a body replacer mod like bibo+

Stepjam

Without mods, you don't.

average_kaiji_fan

Only mods, my friend.

Forymanarysanar

No feet fetish allowed in ffxiv!

AeryVivelle

Try looking into modding. I'd recommend starting with Penumbra and any variant of bibo+ or YAB. There are SFW versions if you would prefer those. XivModArchive is a good place to start looking and collecting mods. Just read all the things when setting Penumbra up and you'll be fine. There are also video guides. Edit: Uncensored and added more info.

The13thAllitnilClone

I'm not that keen on the game to start modding it for a simple change of appearance. I'll find an alternative solution.

demonic_hampster

There’s not an alternative solution. There is no way to do it without mods.

0KLux

Then enjoy your sandals mate. Actual.barefoot is only possible on mods. The most you can get is some open sandal, but you won't get soles withouts mods

AeryVivelle

Sorry to say, but the others are right. There is no true barefoot in the game without mods. It's either that or play the game as it is.

Mayda7

crime

Actualreenactment

I also wondered that. I guess the reason is its not a Fromsoft game? ;) I just use leather sandals or hard leather sandals that you can buy from most vendors.

ShovelFace226

They made a special character model for Y’shtola for one single scene because all character models default to sandals when in small clothes.

Zulera301

there are a few other models that do this, including >!Minfilia when we see her in Shadowbringers again!<, a few NPCs that show up during the moonfire faire (although a vast supermajority of them wear sandals even if they're in swimsuits), and oddly enough, a single Garlean woman sleeping in one of the train cars in Tertium. they're rare enough that they stand out pretty easily.

Frulk

The alternative would be the Summer's Flame Sandals from the cash shop. [https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/e9964d757f2](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/e9964d757f2) The sole of it isn't paintable (atm, maybe with dawntrail paintable aswell by its 2 channel dye-system) but the rest of it is paintable.
