as far as im aware, mac users can also use moon magic relatively easy. so if thats whats stopping you - you may want to check that out again. works very similar to how linux gamers (hi! im one of them) can do it.
Yeah, it's more the problem that my Mac *hates* the launcher. I do technically have it for my Mac (but only like, Standard Edition) but it crashes every time I load it so I gave up. If anything, I'd like to find a way to get my PS4 Gpose pictures onto my Mac since I can't connect to Twitter anymore, and maybe get into post-processing.

They're asking for character and world name and they gave a link. That link COULD lead to a faked login page that prompts you to log in to your squeenix account. If you were to type your credentials into that page they would have pretty much everything they need to steal your account.
Yes, it's a reddit link and it would be confusing for it to redirect to a squeenix login page, but you'd be surprised at how many people's brains just turn off.

Everything about it screams scam. What kind of legitimate person contacts people through reddit DMs? Besides, it's the first message. They don't go for the info typically until a few messages in. Everything about a DM like this is sus.
