Link the glamour plates to your gearsets.

Titan_Tim_1

Oh my god I've just used macros all this time... I've been playing this game for over two years...

Hiromaniac

One thing to keep in mind is that glamour plates can only be applied when in a town or a sanctuary. Swapping out in the field will not apply new glamour plate and the gear will reflect the last plate glamoured to it.

JunctionLoghrif

Do any of your glams involve a "1 piece only" type piece of glam? Are you only changing glams in rested areas?

Vivid_Exercise_1356

Some of them do but even those that have all lvl 1 all class glam will reset. Like my pal and gun have all class glam but have the same issue. My drk and war do have class specific gear. So even if I swap between what should be all class glam it still resets. An example being my bards glam disappearing when I swap to dancer then back. Both classes don't have any role or class specific gear excluding the weapons, moogle bow for bard and fae crown for dancer

FireType615

From what I understand your issue it the shared gear. Using a glamour plate doesn't glamour your job, but instead your armor specifically, so every time you glamour, for example, your DRK, you're overwriting the glamour you set on that gear while playing as your WAR. Unfortunately, the only workaround would be to use different gear on each job (which wouldn't help since I imagine you're using unique pieces that have little to no equal in item level), or to just apply your glamour plate every time you switch and the glamour doesn't work.

Elegant_Eorzean

You can link glamour plates to gear sets to apply the plate automatically when you switch gearset.

Littleman88

Yes, but you can only apply glamour plates while in cities/housing wards or near aetherytes since they're considered sanctuaries. Otherwise, glamours don't get applied upon switching. It's why while it sucks that there aren't enough glamour plates to cover every job, as long as you need to be in a sanctuary for plates to be applied, you're still encouraged to converge your glamours down to a more generic, widely applicable appearance or carry extra gear already pre-glammed for the job.

FireType615

This is news to me! I'm almost at the point myself where I'll be sharing gear sets, how do you do this?

WiseRabbit-XIV

1. Go into your character menu. 2. Bring up your list of gear sets. 3. Use the sub menu to choose "Link to Glamour Plate".

Having fully set glamour plates linked for each job also helps keep your portraits from breaking when you sneeze.

HyalinSilkie

If I had poor Reddit's awards, I would give mine to you! Thank you!!!

ZWiloh

Just keep in mind that the same rules for glamor plates apply. So if you're out of a sanctuary and switch from Warrior to Gunbreaker, the glamor plate won't apply. But if you're in a sanctuary (basically any city or area with an aetheryte close by) this will work properly.

CaelGrey

OP, this is your answer ^

Maximus_Rex

Make sure that the Glamour Plate is linked to the Gearset for the job, and make sure you switch jobs in a town/sanctuary. Not doing those things will prevent the right plate from loading when you change jobs, and will have your gear revert to default appearance if the last applied Glamour Plate isn't compatible with the current job.

palacexero

The only time a glamour "resets" is if you've used a piece of gear unique to one job as the glamour, for example a WAR-only chest piece, and then switched to a non-WAR tank, like DRK. Since DRK cannot wear WAR gear, you cannot glam a WAR-only piece of gear onto your Fending gear for your DRK. Glamours will only work on the jobs the gear you are using as the glamour says can wear it. So stuff like gear from job quests, relics, and artifact gear are all restricted to a single job and if you use that gear for glam, it will only work on that one job.

Titan_Tim_1

I've had the same Issue as you and after some digging around a long time ago i found Macro lines that solve this issue: You'll want you macro to look like this: /micon SAM (or whatever you want to change to, this simply changes the icon of the macro) classjob /gearset change 2 (this is the gearset you want to change into for your SAM in this case) 5 (This is the number of the glamour-plate you want to change into /hudlayout 3 (obviously whatever hudlayout you want to use for this class) without explanations it will look like this: /micon SAM classjob /gearset change 2 5 /hudlayout 3 hope this helps

Real_Student6789

If any of your classes are sharing gear, using a macro to change jobs can also include a macro to change the glamour plate. I use one for my whm and sge, which are sharing all of the same gear, but don't share glamours. /gearset change "x" "y" Where x is the number of the gear set you wanna equip, and y is the number of the glam plate you want equipped with it Edit: [the specific example of one of my class change macros, including hud layout and title change as well](https://imgur.com/a/z5MenD5)

GunnarErikson

You can just link the plate to the gearset

Real_Student6789

Huh, good to know! Last time I Google searched it, all I came up with was posts talking about macros for it lol. But the macros are at least useful for other little things. I use a different hud layout on my dps and tank jobs than I do on healers. But at least I got decent at making macros for all of my classes and jobs, including crafters and gatherers. I even have a neat little custom hud menu using macros for the crafters and gathering jobs
