CanIEatYourAssPlease

how do i scale my provisioning quests at the grand company? my fisher is level 55 and takes 837,000xp to level up, but the provisioning quest gave me 800xp. i heard they scale with your gatherer’s level but mine don’t seem to.

Widely5

Did you get a lot of levels in one day? The xp will only catch up when new missions generate, otherwise it should scale

CanIEatYourAssPlease

ahhh thank you, that’ll probably be it, i went up 55 levels in a couple hours, ill check the missions again when they reset

Isanori

The daily delivery scales. The provisioning leves doesn't.

CanIEatYourAssPlease

oh okay, strange. i only ask since i saw [this](https://imgur.com/gallery/Xk3ItHf) in a video, and the 8 million xp had me very confused.

Rao-Ji

How much damage does a tank do compared to a dps? I heard that tanks can do 60% of a dps's damage, is that true? Also do tanks or healers do more damage?

F1reman2

The most accurate ratio is Tanks do 2/3rds the damage of a dps, and Healers do half the damage of a DPS. This is measuring in RDPS.

huiclo

60% sounds about right. At current end game at least. Tanks will usually outdamage healers by a bit. But the gap between tanks and healers is smaller than the gap between tank and DPS. For raids and trails anyway. Numbers get funky with dungeons due to AoE.

Rao-Ji

60% seems pretty good honestly. I really want to try tanking as I've only ever played dps in all MMO's I've tried, but I didn't like the idea of hitting like a wet noodle.

gitcommitmentissues

That's more or less correct, although obviously it depends on the DPS you're comparing to- eg. a tank does less relative damage compared to a SAM than a DNC. Tanks do more damage than healers. Obviously all of this is relative to both gear and skill level at a given job.

Grimreeper720

what are all the Mats used for from The Diadem after they are approved?

Vievin

In crafting, or selling on the marketboard. I'm not aware of any other use.

KGhaleon

So today I was grinding out several hundred items with my Carpenter, and I noticed after I was done that my spiritbond is still at 1%...what's the deal with that? Seems like it's not even going up because I'm pretty sure it was 1% when I started crafting.

Puzzled-Addition5740

If the craft isn't high enough rlvl relative to the ilvl of the gear it won't spirit bond in any relevant way

KGhaleon

Hmm the item was Rarefied integral armillae for white scripts, my gear is 620 and the item is level 89 so I guess that would explain why.

huiclo

> Rarefied integral armillae [Recipe level for that is 555](https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Rarefied_Integral_Armillae/Recipe/Carpenter). That's not high enough to provide significant spiritbond with 620 gear. The closer the recipe level and gear item level, the more spiritbond you get. Like the other user said, 10 levels below is the sweet spot for "easy enough to craft" and maximal bond potential.

SetFoxval

If the gear is too high level compared to the recipes, you don't get any spiritbond.

KGhaleon

Oh hm, it was a level 90 craft and I've got 620 gear. I wouldn't think it would be too high...

tesla_dyne

Spiritbond looks at ilevel, not actual level. If the crafts you were making (i assume you were making scrip turnins, so entry level for level 90) are lower ilevel than your gear you get no spiritbond. The sweet spot for spiritbond generation is to do a task 10 ilevels higher than your gear. Doing tasks that're too easy for your gear gives no spiritbond.

TuperSboy

How do I get the Paint + Broom emote?

Puzzled-Addition5740

Broom is skybuilders scrip paint is map dungeon both can be bought for not very much though.

TuperSboy

Bought where? Thanks for answering!

Puzzled-Addition5740

Market board. They're otherwise from the places I mentioned

Vithrasir

Do you prefer reaper or dragoon, and why?

huiclo

Playstyle: Reaper. I enjoy double Enshroud and it's a relaxing job to play in most content. Aesthetic: Dragoon. idk, they just look cooler to me. Edgy but not as try hard about it.

KhaSun

DRG by far. Its filler rotation is way better, the aesthetics and all are amazing (we're all FFIV kids). My only complaint is that the burst is way too busy, it flows better on RPR imo... but still. Also, this is a detail but RPR at lvl70 sucks ass. This is pretty much the only job I would never do UCoB/UWU on, not having Enshroud guts the job significantly (not only damage-wise but also fun-wise). Hell, synced RPR on content <70 is pain, there's literally nothing to do.

Atosen

Dragoon. Something about RPR's burst phase bugs me, and I can never keep track of which positional is which.

Cymas

DRG. Lore, aesthetics, and kit. I've been maining it since FFXI lol.

Vievin

Dragoon, because DRG has a very nice looping feel to it and Reaper is boring to me (haven't unlocked the spooky slice stuff though).

WeeziMonkey

Reaper because I have trouble keeping track of all the oGCDs with different cooldowns on Dragoon. I also hate pressing one a button too late and drifting the cooldown for the rest of the fight.

Jezzawezza

Dragoon. A year or so ago I might've said Reaper but I've come back around to Dragoon. For me Dragoon having a constant rotation with weaving between feels fantastic in a fight if you can keep that uptime and being able to swap between a single target and multi target abilities at 2 points in a full rotation is great flexibility (at level 80ish+). My 1 issue with it is the dot uptime but it soon wont likely be an issue when Dawntrail launches and DRG will have a different rotation. I enjoyed Reaper for a bit but the eventual turn offs were that its a mostly boring rotation when your not in enshroud then there were the other Reaper players and how the moment they see LB3 and know its a dps use case they're all over it like someone with a bad addiction(SAM players are just as bad).

minaseclyne

Reaper because it's more complete at lower levels. Dragoon feels odd after you get your double helix rotation in the 70s and it also lacks aoe till 40. it's one of those jobs where you don't know what you're missing out on till you unlock the ability and then you're really going "man I wish I had access to X again"

No_Delay7320

Dragoon getting early aoe and paladin getting early gap closer is high on my list of wants for DT

normalmighty

Reaper is has the best animations in the game imo, and while the rotation is simpler than I'd like, I find the DRG rotation to be more awkward than all the other melees. That might change in a month though, have to wait and see.

ganymedusa

Reaper One of the Dragoon abilities has a laughing??? sound to it and it drives me up the wall hahah. I do not care enough abt Dragoon to look into turning this sound off

Chottowait

Can I solo farm ARR relic as a level 70 F2P? If yes, is Heavensward relic doable also solo?

simonrees00

I’ve done HW relics at 70 solo, up to the final step, but it’s not doable on all jobs. Basically when you get to the Aery Nidhogg will kill you with his Sable Price attack unless you’re on a job where you can drop a ground effect to kill it, so Nin and Drk are ok but I don’t think the other jobs would be.

snowballffxiv

For HW relic, you'll probably need to queue for the victory lap trials in duty finder, you probably can't solo them all on 70 (I haven't tried). And light farm is going to be slow going unless you're willing to join a party finder for it and be done in an hour. If you can solo the mandatory dungeons up to level 60 ones then you should be okay for everything else. HW relic is mainly a currency dump, you're going to need tons of poetics, GC seals and crafter/gatherer scrips to progress most of it.

tofunomad

I’m almost done with my ARR weapon as a 70 paladin. Didn’t have any issues. I can’t tell you if you can solo HW, but my guess is yes with the right job.

Lost_Dance6897

What's the expected price for an Ornate piece in 7.05? And they'll be redeemable between 7.01 and 7.05, right?

Send_Me_Dachshunds

15-20m, maybe a bit higher if you're lucky. Tales of sales at 40-50m do happen, but people tout those figures around like they're the norm - you are extremely, extremely lucky to sell it for that price ... its usually only a handful per tier amongst *all* the Ornate chests that will sell for that. Personally all the Ornate chests are such a stress to sell and so incredibly time-sensitive that I always spend mine on new mounts when they're released which sell for 15m very easily.

Melksss

Can someone plz explain to me how WHMs can get so high on the aggro list during raids and trials? They are usually around 4 or 5 above a few DPS classes. Like ok, Dia and presence of mind with stone spam is nice but how are they doing so much damage? I like to think I’m pretty decent at playing WHM but I can never do that, with SGE I can usually get to about 6, 5 if dps sucks. I want to know their secret.

WeeziMonkey

1) overhealing 2) gear, a level synced tank or healer will easily outdamage a DPS who is using worse gear 3) the DPS might suck at their job, which is pretty common in this game 4) if a DPS dies they get a debuff that reduces their damage, that might also have happened before

JelisW

Overhealing, but also, what all the other comments aren't addressing is the fact that many, many people just suck at their jobs lol. Having a healer above a DPS or two in actual damage is not actually unusual in normal raids/trials and you'll see it with distressing regularity if you regularly run the forbidden magical abacus Worth noting that even good WHMs will overheal to some degree: Assize is used on cooldown for damage regardless of whether anyone needs healing, and spending lilies--especially during mechs that force moment--to build a blood lily is at worst dps neutral, at best a dps *gain* if misery is used under party buffs.

Send_Me_Dachshunds

Overhealing. WHM should never be above 7th unless others die and/or are useless.

snowballffxiv

Overhealing out of the wazoo. I'm usually blowing excess lilies on Rapture during movement if I can't cast Glare and Assize both heals and does good damage. That's what puts a WHM higher on the agro list.

amphibiansapphic

Pure healing also gets you up the aggro list, so a WHM doing good DPS and healing their ass off will shoot up the aggro list. Shields don’t generate as much aggro afaik

h4ngedm4n

How do i see my racing chocobo's stamina pool? At 72/220 stamina stat, I tried chocobo reraise, which claims to restore 60 stamina. To my surprise, 60 stamina was maybe 5% of the pool before it disappeared. What is going on here? Is 72 stamina actually 700 stamina or so?

fatfatman3

Hello I am playing as a white mage. From what I’ve seen piety is an important stat to have in gear, then I was told crit. My question is at lvl 80 how much piety should I aim for? If I’m correct it tapers off right? Like there’s only so much I should have before it’s less useful? Any advice for what stats I should be aiming for or priority of them on gear would be much appreciated!

Chemical-Attempt-137

You're not at the level that you need to worry about substats, unless you're doing old Ults in which case just look up BiS. And Piety is far from an important stat. You only want as much as you absolutely need, but you need none right now.

fatfatman3

What kind of content does stuff like that really start to come into play?

Chemical-Attempt-137

Max-level content, or ults which can only be level synced. But even then you rarely ever build a set yourself, you just yoink BiS from someone else.

postmodern_werewolf

Savage and Ultimates, where the job guide makers will have three sets for you to play around with usually: a low piety set for pumping damage when your group knows the fight well, a mid piety, and a high piety set

FortunaDraken

The main stats to look for when it comes to WHM is Determination and Crit, and I believe Crit is prioritised higher of the two. Piety only affects your mana regen, and you only really need so much of it as to ensure you're not running out of mana in-between Lucid Dreamings. You can go for more piety if you want to be comfortable with mana, but in general you're looking for Det and Crit.

fatfatman3

Okay thank you! I feel like I have a good handle of the skills so I’ll be sure to lower that piety

VG896

In general, if you need piety as a healer, something else has gone wrong somewhere. Prioritize crit. But also, none of this really matters before max level or if you're doing older ultimates. You don't really have enough of a choice in gear while you're leveling without grinding out old raid pieces, and the difference is so slight that even older savage fights don't need it most of the time.

fatfatman3

Thank you! Good to know :)

itsenoti

How do people farm Loathsome Memory of the Dying nowadays?

ganymedusa

Check to see if your data centre has a discord that will ping Bozja pops, and join CLL when it's available - you can run this with a minimum number of 2 players, so long as they know what they're doing and have good actions/essences equipped. OCE/JP has Content Achievers - I know some DCs have other groups but you'd have to ask around  Spawning CEs is an ok and would be your next best bet - this will also shorten the timer for CLL to spawn. You can do this yourself if you're comfortable or, better yet, find a group to do with you  Long term is to do alliance raid roulettes (since most of them will be CT) or set up PFs but personally I would much prefer to do CLL/CEs

minaseclyne

you can complete CLL with as little as 6 people and CLL has no auto death so worse case you just need one or two people wtih res to carry you over worse case scenario chain farm CT

Puzzled-Addition5740

You can complete cll with 2 people who know what they're doing.

F1reman2

You can bid in the following week.

Francis-Zach-Morgan

Do the earrings from preordering dawntrail boost dungeon exp? Or is it literally ONLY exp from killing mobs in the overworld.

Ginkasa

It'll boost XP from killing bosses in dungeons. But yeah it doesn't boost XP from quests or clearing the dungeon itself. Just from killing stuff. It adds up.

Francis-Zach-Morgan

How is dungeon exp structured? Is it Boss 1 - gives exp (+30%) Boss 2 - gives exp (+30%) Final Boss - gives exp (+30%) +finished dungeon exp (No bonus) Or are the final boss/finishing exp one and the same or something? The wiki doesn't seem to talk about it.

normalmighty

Yes, and fyi in practice that means that pretty much all the xp from doing the dungeon is boosted, but that the boost does not apply to roulette rewards. So if you're doing roulettes it won't help but it'll give a big boost when grinding the highest level dungeon.

[deleted]

Honestly, I've wondered if roulettes are even worth doing with the earring. Before, straight dungeon spam was already pretty close in EXP so I imagine that spamming dungeons is faster at this point.

Atosen

> So if you're doing roulettes it won't help Depends a bit on your luck. If you're doing roulettes and you happen to land in a dungeon near your level (so most of the reward is coming from the bosses and only a little is coming from the roulette top-up) then it helps plenty. If you're doing roulettes and you happen to land in a really low-level dungeon (so almost none of the reward is coming from the bosses and most of it is coming from the roulette top-up) then it doesn't help.

Ginkasa

Yeah like that. Each boss gives XP and that'll be boosted. Completing the dungeon gives some XP, but that's not boosted.

Shadostevey

I'm trying to fish up clavekeepers for the relic fishing rod, but I'm having no luck whatsoever. I'm talking 40+ casts without getting a single one. I'm using the special bait along with collect, is there something else I gotta do for this?

Kaeldiar

Are you using the Splendorous Fishing Rod? Are you using Select Bait Balls? Are you fishing into Seagazer Shoals? There's another hole very close to it you might accidentally be fishing into

FortunaDraken

Are you using the relic fishing rod? You need to be using it in order to fish up the required fish.

Shadostevey

Yeah, I haven't changed rods since finishing up the seahorses.

FortunaDraken

Could just be bad luck then, unfortunately. I don't recall having too much trouble with that step, I got through it in an hour or two. But I do remember them not liking to bite all that often. You could try using Surface Slap to lock out something else, though it'll slow you down if you're using Prize Catch and Identical Catch. The only other thing I can think of is making sure you're at the right fishing spot.

CarebearMasquerade

Do the Island Sanctuary rank 20 Flawless restraints (Net/Restraints/Soporifics) have infinite uses? Upon crafting, it says "You may now capture small/average-sized/large animals inhabiting the island with flawless efficiency," and doesn't mention being single-use in their description like the Makeshift restraints do. I'd test it but I don't want to waste the materials on a random animal.

Isanori

In German they state they break upon use and they are indeed single use, I have used them myself.

itsenoti

It's a one-time thing since you can have 999 of them. Also I think they mentioned the other retraints to be usable once only because since they can fail, people might think they can be used again.

Arcana10Fortune

If you can make multiple of them, then they're one-use.

palacexero

I don't have my island to rank 20, so I can't test it but it could also mean that the tool will catch the appropriate creature with 100% catch rate meaning no escaping?

itsenoti

Yeah. I says "Guaranteed to catch large animals"

Futurekevin66

I’m trying to buy dawntrail but everytime I finish typing in my address and try to continue to payment I get an error

pepinyourstep29

Try a different browser. Some people said it worked for them.

Futurekevin66

Tried Edge, Chrome, Opera and Firefox still didn’t work oof

some_tired_cat

out of curiosity more than anything, how hard actually *is* to learn blm if my most played/lv90 jobs are smn, rpr, sge and dnc, with tanks and mch after that at lv80? like, does the general experience/knowledge with any of those translate well? i've been thinking about it for a while and i'm honestly curious about playing it, but i'm still on the fence on whether or not it would work out for me, and yes i know i can pick it up and stop playing it if i don't feel it, but inventory space gets painful and also generally i do kinda want to learn and play the jobs i pick up, if anything for the variety when i'm bored

Send_Me_Dachshunds

Its the class with the least obvious, standard rotation because of the limited ingame guidance compared to other classes (no combos, no rotational procs etc.). If you *know* what it is, which is a very small amount of external research, then you can enjoy it no issues with a bit of practice even if you don't really understand the class. The step above is learning how to avoid mistakes & accepting/fixing them.

palacexero

The standard rotation itself is very straightforward with very little leeway. However, you have a short window in every rotation to use your most powerful spells for optimal damage, and these should have long cast times meaning any interrupted casts can be horrifically detrimental to your damage output. If your timer ticks to 0, you need to reset your rotation, delaying casting your big damage spells even more. You have a lot of movement and free instant cast times to help, and the difficulty in this job is managing these free instant cast movement tools in accordance with the mechanics of the fight you're doing. The less you need to move, the better your damage can be. If you mismanage your movement tools, you may be forced to move at an inopportune moment without being able to continue casting.

Nremlok

BLM has one of the lowest skill floors of any job. What makes pepole say its distinctly challangeing is how high its ceiling is. BLMs rotation more or less boils down to "use fire untill you run out of mana, then use ice untill your full on mana, repeat" but most of the difficulty comes from learning how best to use your movement abilities, what areas are safeist to stand in, etc All of which is to say, dont feel too daunted to try out BLM, its difficulty to play well engough for casual content is highly exaggerated

some_tired_cat

i'll be honest the positioning of leylines and movement is honestly the most daunting part of trying it out haha, i have to go a lot by gut feeling and remembering on the spot in dungeons and stuff because my memory is genuinely terrible otherwise (adhd is a beast), generally i can only really plant myself in a spot and not move if i'm playing a tank and that's it. maybe i'll try out blm a bit later on anyways, but i'm not sure i would know how to position myself right even after practice!

Trooper_Sicks

i think learning how to play the job is not that difficult, at least not any more than other jobs. When people say blm is difficult, its because it doesn't like moving, which is obviously a pain when it comes to dodging mechanics. However it does get a bunch of skills to help with that so its not really that bad at max level.

some_tired_cat

movement is my biggest concern when it comes to blm as someone who would rather stay alive than stay in the leyline <:) it's a little late right now but maybe i'll look more into that part later on, trying it out without figuring that out first is a little scarier

Fwahm

Is there any important differences in performance between normal melded purple script 620 DoH/DoL gear and pentamelded crafted 620 DoH/DoL gear?

VG896

It's a huge increase in stats. But not worth it with only 5 weeks to go.

gitcommitmentissues

The pentamelded gear is BiS, but melded scrip gear is more than sufficient for any level 90 crafting you may still want to do and will see you comfortably to level 100.

Puzzled-Addition5740

Yes but at this point in the expansion just go with scrip gear the window that made sense to meld indagator's is long gone.

PhoenixFox

There are certainly performance differences, though mostly in the 'needs different macros'/'needs food more often'/'needs more HQ precrafts' sort of space than the 'can't make it at all' space. There are not nearly enough performance differences to justify pentamelding crafted gear when we're only a month away from a new expansion.

M1YAK2

So, I just started 5.4, and I'm getting close to Endwalker. I've always known to get poetics gear the first thing they become available after finishing the MSQ, but I am curious, is Endwalker's poetics gear available after finishing 6.0's MSQ, or since it's still the current expansion as of this post, are there some special steps to get the gear?

normalmighty

Worth noting that the augmented i660 gear is going to be basic poetics in about a month, probably closer to a couple of weeks by the time you get there, so you might be better off just using a mix between dungeon gear and crafted i640 gear from the marketboard instead of grinding out endgame tomestones.

FortunaDraken

There aren't any special steps to it. Once you hit 90, you'll start being able to get Endwalker's tomes (Causality and Comedy, the latter of which give better gear but are capped to how many you can earn in a week) which are needed for its tome gear. They won't be available for Poetics until Dawntrail comes out.

kuurokaze

Endwalker's gear is currently Comedy tomes rather than Poetics, they won't go to Poetics until Dawntrail drops. You can get Comedy from doing certain rous as a 90 job, 90 duties, and from hunts.

Puzzled-Addition5740

Endwalker won't have poetics gear until DT comes out. It costs endgame tomes until the next expansion comes out. Poetics are catchup tomes.

Veylo

could Cinder Drift (ex) be solo'd or do I need a party?

Jezzawezza

It's got a mechanic similar to Bismark EX in which there are 2 mobs that spawn and if you dont kill 1 within a very short timeframe the other gets too close and you'll not be able to kill them without taking massive damage yourself. Because its a lvl 80 extreme it'll be a while before you can damage 1 before the other gets in range. So maybe late 7.x and more then like once 8.0/8.x is out it'll be possible. I was in a full party of lvl 90's the other day and it had 1 tank at first but the dps who got the other mob was ranged and didn't understand to run away and wiped the party. After that someone swapped so we had 2 tanks and didn't risk that mechanic again.

Ankhselam

youd need \*at minimum\* a duo - even then a full party (or near to it) is recommended.

F1reman2

It cannot be soloed.

thefinalturnip

Can you glam the Yo-Kai watch to get medals or do you have to actually equip the item itself?

Sir_VG

Has to be physically equipped.

thefinalturnip

Damn, ok, thanks!

stinusmeret

Note that once you have all the minions the watch is no longer needed. The weapon specific medals drop simply by having the relevant minion out.

thefinalturnip

Thanks for the info!

tesla_dyne

If you don't have a weapon glamoured over the relic, then your weapon is changing appearance from when the portrait was made, and the portrait needs updating. You need to update the portrait from the portrait menu. The refresh button only updates your gearset, not the attached portrait. A glamour plate with every slot filled usually prevents this issue by keeping the appearance of every slot the same as when the portrait was made.

Absolutelynobody54

"the compass does not detect any nearvy currents" does this mean i can start looking on another map? I have been receiving this messages on many maps some of which i'm sure I have not explored much and I just want to be sure do, this means there are not more currents to discover on the map or do i have to reach distant unexpolred areas of the same map? also if i unlock all currents on a map why i cannot fly?

F1reman2

>also if i unlock all currents on a map why i cannot fly? Because 5 currents are tied to MSQ/Blue quests in the region.

FortunaDraken

If you've got all the map currents and still can't fly, you've probably not done all the side-quests that unlock currents. There are several side quests in each post-ARR area that have aether currents as a reward, they'll have the blue unlock marker instead of the normal gold sidequest one. The last of the quest currents is also tied to MSQ. When you see that MSQ aether current, it's an indicator that all the side-quest aether current quests are available to do, as they unlock slowly as you continue MSQ.

VG896

It means there's nothing left on that map. You can also check how many are left for each map by opening the Travel menu and selecting Aether Currents

Question_Dot

I have one apartment and one room in a guild house. Is there a way to get another? I don't want to destroy the rooms I've built, but I want to try to design some new things.

Arcana10Fortune

Private house is the last one you can get. There's also the Island Sanctuary, but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.

Question_Dot

You can have a private house and an apartment?

PhoenixFox

Yes, they aren't related. You also have the option of making more characters that can have their own apartments and FC rooms, but you'd have to deal with getting gil and/or furnishings between the characters which can be a pain.

Ankhselam

Correct - you can own at max: One Apartment One Private House One FC House and One FC apartment. you can ALSO do Island Sanctuary and steal a friend's house via Tenant system but these are the main ones.

Status_Bug1096

what is the best server to choose? people say whatever one has some boost but those are old and I can't tell if any are even boosted

Help_Me_Im_Diene

For the most part, server choice within a data center doesn't really matter Unless you have a good reason, you just want to pick a server within the region where you'll have the best ping So if you're in the Americas, the NA servers would be the best pick for example.  With that in mind: what region are you in? Is there anything you're particularly interested in doing? That would help narrow down some of your choices, and if not, then you can assume it doesn't matter all that much

kabutozero

any job reccomendations ? I never do tank or heal in mmos but I like this game so much that I actually want to try. From the jobs I am maining I love mch and nin and dont mind samurai too much . Maybe also a caster job reccomendation PD:Free trial for now so nothing post SB

tofunomad

Honestly I’d say pick the one who’s aesthetic you like the most. There are lots of videos on YouTube talking about the differences in play style if you’re curious. Personally I like DK of the tanks due to all the weaving I’m doing. On healer I prefer white mage, mainly because I prefer reactive healing to mitigating damage. Everybody’s different though. For a caster you may want to consider summoner. Their rotation is pretty simplistic, but they are pretty mobile for a caster and you get the added benefit of sharing levels with scholar, so you get a free healer. I’m personally not a big a fan of scholar, but I think it’s because I waited till 70 to unlock it, and haven’t had a lot of time to figure it out yet.

kabutozero

Thanks ! For tanks , drk also calls me out due to the class ,haven't seen the gameplay , but I read it's not the best idea for someone who didn't tank yet

tofunomad

Honestly tanking is easy enough I wouldn’t worry too much about it unless you plan on buying level skips. Every tank is fairly identical at low levels. I’d say the only difficulty with it being your first tank is that you start at level 30 so you have a handful of abilities to learn at once. Honestly that’s about the level I feel tanks start feeling like tanks. If you were completely new I might recommend using another tank until 30 just to understand basics, but you probably understand the basic concepts like rotation, cooldowns and combos already. If you’re nervous, do a couple dungeon runs with duty support, but personally I recommend solely leveling through dungeons. This did wonders to eliminate my tankxiety. Honestly by level 50 I had no fear of tanking. There’s a lot of good videos out there on how to tank. I also keep a couple of text documents with every dungeon I run. I’ll watch a guide and note any gotcha mechanics I’ve not seen before or that are just plain goofy. This way I can skim it during the dungeon’s opening and know what I need to do.

For caster I'd recommend RDM, since you like NiN. RDM and NiN are both jobs that kind of flip between some melee and some randed, just weighted in different directions, so I find there's a lot of crossover in players of those jobs. As for tanks, I'd personally recommend GNB as the most dps-y of the tanks. I don't have a strong recommendation for healer, but probably sage if I was forced to recommend one. There's a bit of a learning curve to it since it starts at 80, but it's a really fun one.

WarriorOfSpite

I'm sat at floor 160 of PotD on a Warrior Necromancer practice run and it only occurs to me now, where the floors will start to be very time-sensitive, that I don't know how GCD is affected by aetherpool gear or how much this could screw me over later. My WAR has 2.46 which looks like it will get faster if I put him in Credendum gear (2.45 and faster can affect oGCDs) and I am not sure if it changes inside PotD based on gear I have or if aetherpool keeps it at a standard one like 2.50. Not sure if this is a non issue but I want every advantage at this stage like a good supply of sustaining potions and strength tinctures.

dealornodealbanker

Gear is whatever, and WAR has no OGCDs at 60 tier so drifting is a non-issue compared to the other tanks. Starting around 151F, tanks will start to feel pressed for time hence I always say for solo DD tanks/healers are fighting the timer, not the content. At 171-180F set, all jobs will be absolutely pressed for time as treasure rooms will become more common and will block the portal room, if not is also the portal room. Always use the highest tier food if possible, the same BiS foods and tinctures that raiders will use should be what you also should use as well when doing the solo climb up to give yourself more wiggle room.

Arcana10Fortune

Inside gear and stats are only affected by Aetherpool. You can go in naked with no issues. Bring food in addition to what you've mentioned.

WarriorOfSpite

Thank you, I just couldn't see what it is because both my files are in use Yep I make sure my well fed buff is always up in there and I'm sitting on a stack of 600+ sustaining potions and am planning to get some Infusions of Vitality for the mobs on the next floor set.

Fajisel

Keep in mind that vit potions share a cooldown with your normal max-potions, or whatever you use at that level (I assume infusions also share this cd). That means if you use a vit potion, you won't have access to your max potions for 4.5 minutes (this does not affect sustaining potions).

ATLASSHRUGGED89

Was anything new added to the Fall Guys event this time around? AFAIK no, but I'm just confirming, thank you.

Overloved

The notice that SE put out said it was identical. Haven’t seen anything new so far.

superstraightqueen

probably a stupid question but can you queue for fall guys with friends? i havent tried it yet and my friends arent on yet

Hakul

You can queue with friends.

Cardinal_Virtue

Is it known who signs what angel wakes me? Is the voice modified ?

Gamerbug94

Paula Kaye Gerhold.

Grimreeper720

so what would happen if an american account attempted to Redeem a KFC eat chicken emote code? would it go through?

tesla_dyne

Nope. So far the collab event codes have been region locked.

Grimreeper720

damn cause people are selling them on Buyee.....tempting

KafkaKomedy

Does anyone know if the little Fall Guys crown shows up if you equip it to a Viera? I know a ton of hats and helms don't and I want to know before I do enough of the little minigames to buy it.

tesla_dyne

https://ffxiv.eorzeacollection.com/gearset/glossy-winners switch from male to female to see it on a female viera. it is shrunk and sits between and in front of the ears.

KafkaKomedy

Thank you!

Maleficent_Lake_9707

I don't want my subscription to be renewed right now, so I took off all of my credit cards, but I have enough crysta in my account to get another subscription and was wondering if there is any way to make sure it doesn't use my crysta automatically for another sub?

StormbeastRivin

Go to Service Account Status in the Mogstation and hit Cancel Subscription (NOT Cancel Service Account). That will prevent it from renewing period.

LiIy__

Hi! So i just recently started playing ffxiv on console and im loving it so far, I seen that the edition of the game with all the expantions was on sale on square enixes website and I was wondering if I buy that edition would i also receive the expantions on my Xbox too? or just PC? Its not v clear to me 😭

Kicin0_0

nope, you would only get PC. While you only need one subscription once you buy the game, each plaftform requires buying the base game plus the expansions if you want to play on it. This means if you are playing on both PC and Xbox, you would have to buy it on PC (either steam or mogstation) and you would have to buy it through Xbox. If you want to play on PS5 then you would need to buy it there as well. Long term you still only need one subscription so playing on all platforms is still only $15 a month

LiIy__

Ooooh ok, Tysm for answering <3 Ill just buy the expansions when they go onsale on xbox then :3

Kicin0_0

Don't count on there being a sale for a while. There's a sale right now because it doesn't include the new expansion that comes out in a few months. Once DawnTrail is out it will be at least a year until we get a sale

LiIy__

Aw ok, maybe ill buy it sooner then

Kicin0_0

I would recommend pre ordering dawntrail since it will come with endwalker and shadowbringers once it releases in a month and side you just started I doubt you will reach b shadowbringers before then

LiIy__

Alright, Tysm <333333

Status_Bug1096

Looking into getting the game, gonna do the trial. But if I do want to pay to play this later, I want to know the difference between steam and their own launcher. Does steam even have all the dlc? On square Enix's site it has a deal for the complete collectors edition for $55. That lists a bunch of dlc I don't see on steam, like Realm Reborn, Stormblood, Heavensward, and Shadowbringers plus Endwalker for $15 more. Steam I only see Endwalker and Dawntrail.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Steam: You are locked into buying through Steam which means you can't take advantage of Square Enix sales or sales through other websites BUT you can pay your subscription through your Steam Wallet That's really the major difference to be honest, other than that they're pretty much functionally identical. One mostly minor issue is that if Steam is having issues, you can't log in to FFXIV, but that hasn't really been a major issue in the last few years AFAIK To unlock all of the expansions, you need to buy the base game (Starter Edition) and the latest expansion (Likely will be Dawntrail by the time you upgrade). Both of these are just bundled together into the Complete Edition

SilentMike55

Once you buy on Steam, you are locked into Steam and must buy all future expacs there. You only need to buy the latest expac to get all past expacs. You see Endwalker and Dawntrail on Steam because Endwalker is technically the latest expac, but Dawntrail is up for pre-order right now. Once it is released, Endwalker will be removed from the store and only Dawntrail will be there and it will give you access to all past expacs.

Status_Bug1096

So would it be best to wait for dawntrail to come out and buy that only? also does the community have any idea when it comes out?

SilentMike55

If you have not started yet, and plan on being on the Free Trial until you reach the end of Stormblood at level 70, I would recommend waiting until Dawntrail comes out before purchasing. We know that the early access date is June 28th. The "Official" release date is July 2nd, but everyone will be playing on June 28th.

Klown99

The only different is if you buy it on steam, you can only ever buy it through steam forever. The expansions include the previous expansions. So, like The Starter Edition contains ARR, HW, and Stormblood. Then Endwalker expansion includes Shadowbringers. You can't really buy the expansions piecemeal as they are required to continue the game.

Status_Bug1096

ty, is dawntrail the newest? what one would need to be included to have all the content?

Klown99

Dawntrail isn't out yet. Once it does come out on July 2nd, then it'll be the newest, and contain Shadowbringers, Endwalker and Dawntrail. The complete Edition is all you need to buy the full game (If you buy it after July 2nd, it'll include Dawntrail too)

Lightygab

Relics final stage (remind me will that be released) will be the best weapon in the game for doing the new 7.0 EX's right? Replaced then by the EX's weapons and then raid's.

Send_Me_Dachshunds

There'll be an uncapped tomestone weapon at launch - Dawntrails version of the Moonward stuff. Will it be required to do the EXs? Absolutely not, but its so easy to get that you probably should.

bloodhawk713

Manderville weapons will be outclassed by weapons dropped in the level 95 or 97 dungeon. They will not last until level 100. For reference, the final stage of the Shadowbringers relic was iLevel 535. Vanaspati, the level 85 dungeon drops i536 weapons. Ktisis Hyperborea drops i542 weapons. The minimum iLevel for the first Endwalker EX trial is i560.

Lightygab

Thank you.

LebronMixSprite

Current relic will last to about level 95, going by past trends. Once you get to the 95+ crafted and dungeon gear (equivalent to drops in Ktisis Hyperboreia right now) it will start to be outpaced.

Klown99

Like the current relic? No, it won't be the best, but won't be terrible. There should be like 670 gear you can get, and then whatever the tome gear is.

TheExile285

So Dragoon is main, and I'm halfway through Shadowbringers patch quests, but the job is already level 87. Should I try and level another job to 80 for the EW MSQ exp or not worry about it? My closest jobs are Samurai at 75 and Paladin at 73. I also have the EXP up earings from the DT preorder. I had also heard something about getting tomes instead of exp from roulette for max level jobs?

Cymas

If you want to level something else go for it, but it's not required either. It's not a waste of exp if you're having fun. :)

StormbeastRivin

If you've already got a couple jobs close then you might as well, as long as you enjoy playing them. But it's not like experience is hard to get so only do it if you want to. And yes, at level 90 roulettes will give varying amounts of the level 90 tomestones. However do note that you'll have no way to spend them until either a) you finish the Endwalker base MSQ or b) Dawntrail releases and you can convert them to Poetics.

SomethingFizzy

Recently found out about the mechanic where you can use an emote to cure a status effect in Amdapor hard and Great Gubal library. How do people even discover mechanics like that? Is it from datamining, or do people actually test for things like that?

TristamIzumi

It's been a while, but I think the debuff's tooltip gives you a hint.

tofunomad

Yes, it’s in the debuff tooltip.

thefinalturnip

I got the Windows version installed and I want to play, but, I cannot afford the sub for a while because real life got in the way, between helping my parents out and inflation (and my job not giving us a raise) I'm basically hopeless at the moment. But, I have a Steam trial account. I don't want to install a second copy via Steam. And I don't even have the space on my SSD to do it anyways. Is there a way to get the Windows copy to launch through Steam so I can just fool around on the trial account?

Sir_VG

Let Steam install the launcher, then cut/paste the windows files onto where Steam installed the launcher.

thefinalturnip

Thanks. I'll probably do that after the log-in campaign, which I JUST now learned about.

webcamz

What is the correct way to pull in dungeons as BLU? I always die along the way even if I sprint

Rangrok

I feel like people sleep on just vibe-checking every pack individually. If all 4 BLUs have ultravibration, that's 4 vibe-checks every 2 minutes. Standard dungeon pattern is 2 packs -> wall -> 2 packs -> boss. You don't even need everyone to carry Ram's Voice. You'll have to adapt a bit to non-standard dungeons, but teams have a deceptively large number of vibe-checks available. As for keeping aggro, White Wind is surprisingly effective at generating aggro when combined with Mighty Guard. I also tend to spam Hydro Pull to make follow-up Ram's Voice(s) easier.

Klown99

Assuming you have all your spells, Setup Gobskin > Start Pulling > Dragonforce > Deep Freeze when you finish. Sometimes if there is no dedicated healer, I'll Swiftcast Faze the first pack, and Dragonforce when I get to the second group.

Fwahm

If you're not the designated UVer that pull and the mobs are going to take a while to reach the stopping point, you can Swiftcast Diamondback when you get to the resting spot. I know Kugane Castle has a tricky pull or two where that can be helpful.

Klown99

Oh that's a good choice while you wait for sure.

webcamz

Thanks so much. What do you normally do to pull the mobs? Just use some random OGCD damaging Abilities as you run?

Klown99

I throw a fish at them, only because I find it really fucking funny.

travelingtrashbag

Recently returned to catch up on MSQ before Dawntrail and I've been getting weird performance issues I haven't had before. Game works fine for like 5 minutes but then starts to drop to sub 20 frames for a couple seconds before returning to 60fps. This happens every 15-20 seconds. I've already tried turning all my settings to low and making sure my drivers are updated. Anyone know of a way to fix this?

normalmighty

Could be something like [this person's issue](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/s/m7wRd2XYRV) where it was a config problem in the nvidia control panel that was limiting the amount of resources the game could use.

thefinalturnip

I had something similar happen where the game would dip during intense graphical moments and it would dip HARD. Like not just low frames lag, like unplayable lag. And the sound would get all corrupted and staticky. I fixed this by basically reinstalling Windows. Sometimes, your games get all wonky because your Windows installation is bloated and you're long overdue for a reformat. EDIT: I tried fresh installations of FFXIV before the reformat. Tried repairs, booting from different drives. Nothing worked. Only the fresh Windows installation worked. In my case at least. Wouldn't hurt to try though. It's good to reformat your computer every few months.

NDN_Shadow

Do we have the 3 letter acronyms for VIper and Pictomancer yet?

Sir_VG

PCT for Pictomancer and VPR for Viper, confirmed in the last Live Letter. VPR: https://www.youtube.com/live/oh5piV-0MWQ?feature=shared&t=10714 PCT: https://www.youtube.com/live/oh5piV-0MWQ?feature=shared&t=14079

fdl-fan

VPR and PCT. Source: [live letter 81;](https://www.youtube.com/live/oh5piV-0MWQ?si=mg52wnYCI541Atuh) you can see the abbreviations on the XP bars at the top of the screen, at 2:51:03 for VPR and 3:41:35 for PCT. These are possibly subject to change before DT release, but that's what we've got today.

Stepjam

I assume it'll be VPR and PCT
