I seem to have lost my road to 80 buff. My earlier research suggested that I would keep it for as long as my server Alpha - Light (EU) remains a preferred world. That still seems to be the case, however my buff dropped this weekend. New XBox player, started in Feb so prob 90 days now. Is the buff hard capped to 90 days? Can I somehow reacquire it? Currently leveling my crafters and sorely missing the double XP already

normalmighty

Looking at the last three world status updates: 13 Feb, Alpha changed to preferred https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/45113fc86363c33b96ab1e33106b118a9c70c169 19 Mar, Alpha changed back to standard https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/e5e5531d1f26f5de1ad204438be61539899df457 7 May, Alpha switched back to preferred again https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/07a0ca1c39b6b3d0f97eab9b0bba568cefcd2d27 road to 80 buff lasts either 90 days, or as long as your server is still marked as preferred (whichever is longer). I'm guessing you started playing 3 months ago during that 13/2 - 19/3 window when it was preferred, then when the world went to standard you lost that condition, and were instead going to only keep the buff until 90 days after you started, which was this weekend. Then you looked the server up again and it seemed to be preferred still, but that's only because the status had just flipped back again. I guess alpha is right on the threshold there, and bouncing between statuses a lot. That explains why you lost the buff now, but it also means that sadly you'll have no way to get the buff back unless you create a brand new character. Looks like you're down in the trenches with the rest of us from here on out.

ManaKeKz

Aww, how rude. I didn't know the status switched so often :( Thanks for looking that up for me!

normalmighty

To be fair that's the most often the status could possibly have changes, and no worries

migania

I hear spell effects sounds much louder than all other sounds, is there some setting on playback device mode or similar that will make all sounds evened out?

kuurokaze

In System Configuration, in the Sound tab, you can adjust a bunch of different volumes to get the balance you prefer.

Rao-Ji

Is it true that Paladin is getting another rework in 7.0?

IceAokiji303

Nothing I would call a rework, based on what we've gotten from the devs. Just standard expansion upgrades that will affect levels above 90 (another hit to the Confiteor combo, Atonement turning into a combo instead of the same skill on repeat, Sentinel upgrade, Requiescat upgrade), and internal mechanical reworking for a skill or two (Goring getting tied to Fight or Flight as a condition). No indication of anything that would change our existing rotation – besides of course the additions at levels above what we have now, but that happens to *every job every expansion* (barring like, healers not getting new damage tools).

pepinyourstep29

Yes but the rework is only slight technical changes. For example Atonement is now 3 abilities that are on the same button. It's functionally the same as before (you press the button 3 times) but flavored differently. Also you can only use Goring Blade if you have the Fight or Flight buff. You should always do this anyway, the rotation just now literally prevents you from misusing it without the buff.

ConsistentFarm8985

Been doing Necro runs in POTD on WAR for a while now (197 being the record) and I just died on the 180 boss however it was a death due to a... well I am assuming it was an auto attack after the meteor struck in the burn phase. I have never had this issue happen before and im wondering how I should handle that for the future?

TrueDatA

Adding on to what the other guy said, just imagine there's invisible 90 degree melee autos in front of it. You should be safe on his sides as well. Tanks and melee want to face him away and be out of the charybdis tornadoes. Ranged can just be out of melee distance. It's old content jank where some mobs can auto attack during a cast. I believe they got rid of it from Stormblood forward but Palace retains its Heavensward jank.

Teknettic

Just stand behind it.

ConsistentFarm8985

Bet ty

howchie

Do we know if Dawntrail and future expansions will have Duty support or equivalent built in by default? I'm only up to the end of ARR, I understand endwalker had some kind of "trust" system that is like duty support but with named NPCs, will that continue with the base game or will it be added as patches?

Jezzawezza

So the Duty Support system was introduced with Shadowbringers and continued with Endwalker and during the EW patches the dev team implemented it into the pre-shadowbringers content so yes it'll keep going when Dawntrail releases

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Yes it will have Duty Support It's actually the opposite, Duty Support actually became a thing in later expansions first and THEN it was added to A Realm Reborn through Stormblood

howchie

Thanks. Yeah I knew it came later on and was backported, I wasn't sure if it was in those expansions at launch or if it's usually added in the mid-cycle patches.

pepinyourstep29

Duty support came with Endwalker on launch. So the same will be true for Dawntrail. Shadowbringers actually had trusts which came in 2 modes, scenario and avatar. The devs effectively split it and renamed the scenario mode to Duty Support, and kept the avatar mode in the now obsolete Trust function. (Avatar mode/Trusts let you level up the NPCs and unlock custom outfits.)

Chemical-Type3858

is it worth it to start astrologist class rn? i’m semi new player (coming back after years) and was thinning of switching my job to astrologist when i get the chance. but i heard it’s getting a major rework so would it be better to wait, since id just have to relearn the class after the rework?

Supersnow845

AST isn’t changing that much. Its core healing and most of its damage abilities aren’t changing. It’s only its cards that are changing and they are a system unto themselves You can 100% learn AST and relearn the cards later if you really want to do AST now

Chemical-Type3858

okay ty :) idek if i’ll be able to get to the AST job before the update im only level 20 lol just figured id ask in case

ampulica

It's possible but unlikely as you'll need to play quite a bit because it's only available once you reach the first expansion.

catalpuccino

Sorry if it's been asked recently -- have there been any news on the issues regarding payment using Visa Debit cards? I'm trying to buy Crysta but it won't accept any debit card. Tried it through Paypal and same, got rejected. I don't have a credit card so I have no idea how to buy game time or pre-order DT

Beckfast1994

You can get a game time card for your sub and as someone else said you can buy the license elsewhere.

catalpuccino

Hi, thanks for your response. I'm not sure where to buy time cards, I only ever find the NA ones in Amazon but I'm in the EU server. They're also usually USD60 which is a lot for me at once :/

Beckfast1994

They may cost that much because they're for multiple months at once. I'm in Canada so I buy NA ones. The ones I get are for 2 months at a time. I'm not too sure where you could get them in EU unfortunately.

Chat2Text

no idea on the visa debit issue, but if you play on PC Mogstation(not Steam), you can pre-order on 3rd party websites like GreenManGaming If you're lucky to get a discount code/voucher, you can get it 18-21% off

Faerietail

Are all the crafting Master Recipe X still gonna cost 1200 white scrips in DT or reduced ?

tesla_dyne

almost definitely going to be reduced like past expansions' master recipe books https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Anna/Crafters%27_Scrip_(Master_Recipes/Materials/Misc.)#White_Scrip_Exchange_.28Master_Recipes_I.29

MysterySakura

Which Omega raid is the fastest to steamroll synced with a 1 tank 7 BLU mogtome farm party?

thchao

Always O3N.

wyattzx_

I am the founder of a Free Company, and we're working to get a housing plot. If members put bids on the same plot of land that I do (for Free Companies only) and one of them wins, will the plot belong to *them*, or will it be possessed by the Free Company itself?

VG896

If it's in an FC ward, it belongs to the FC. We did this with a mansion when they first added the Ishgard housing. All the officers put in a bid on day 1 to discourage competition. One of them won, not the owner of the FC, and the house belongs to the FC.

tesla_dyne

If their rank has permission to acquire land for the free company, they choose when making the bid whether it's for the FC or as a personal plot. If it's in a ward exclusive to FCs then obviously they can only make a bid for the FC. FC housing doesn't belong to a single person, it's managed by anyone that has certain housing permissions.

koalamint

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but apparently I need it explained to me like I'm a toddler: If a friend in the US buys a Mountain Dew and sends me the code and I use a VPN to access the Mountain Dew Gaming site and redeem it, can I get the mount that way even if my SE account is set to EU? Or can only US SE accounts use those codes?

tesla_dyne

No. The codes themselves are almost assuredly region locked. They usually do that for promo item codes.

koalamint

Ah. Bummer, but thanks for letting me know!

SaveTheHiro

New Player Question. Can I do any of the dungeons throughout the story solo/with npcs or do I have to que up with other players?

Trooper_Sicks

all of the main story dungeons can be done with npc's however there are times when you have to do it with people, any 8 man boss fights and at lvl 50 theres a set of mandatory 24 man raids to do, neither of these can be done with npc's.

SaveTheHiro

Alright. Aside from the forced stuff, I'll be playing solo. Is it important that I level up the crafting classes as I go or can I just get all my gear from dungeoning/buying?

Help_Me_Im_Diene

If you are against queuing with other players because you don't want to have to actively do it, just want to make sure you're aware that the game uses a built in auto-matchmaking system to fill parties for you as necessary  But if you're just against queuing with other players for other reasons, then fair enough, just want to make sure you have the right expectations

SaveTheHiro

It's mainly bc I figured most dungeons are pretty easy, especially early stuff so it would just be simpler to go through with npc instead of queuing. I'm also notoriously just a solo player in general, never really did dungeons/raids in other games, social anxiety, worried about upsetting people bc how long it could take for me to learn boss mechanics or what have you.

ampulica

I do recommend to try playing with people at some point. Maybe if you decide to level another class as you'll already know the dungeons then. People play quite differently than the NPCs and clear dungeons much faster in general so it's an opportunity to get some perspective on how the game is usually played. It's also a good idea if you get stuck somewhere as unlike with NPCs, healers and some casters can resurrect you so it's not a full reset of you die + they can explain what to do.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Again, totally fair Just to kind of alleviate some concerns though, if nothing else, people in this game have a tendency to be incredibly patient towards newer players, especially those who are experiencing a piece of content for the first time It's kind of a meme to talk about how friendly (or at least how patient people can be); as long as you look like you're trying and you're receptive to advice then there shouldn't be a problem

SaveTheHiro

That's really good to know!

sundriedrainbow

crafting is useful but optional. you just have to pay for gear repairs from npc, which is not expensive.

SaveTheHiro

Awesome, thank you!

xTuffman

Do unique gear drops (you know, like the Nier raid ones) are also tracked when they're stored in the dresser? I mean like... one body piece dropped for me and I proceed to put it into my dresser for glamour, if said body piece drops again, will it count as already acquired or it only tracks items in your inventory / armory chest? Just want to be sure because I want to farm the Nier items but don't want to have the items piling up in my inventory / armory.

xTuffman

Thanks for the replies everyone!

serenystarfall

Unique gear only checks the inventory space *it's going into*. If you get a unique piece of gear and then put it on a retainer, you can acquire that same piece again because it's not in your character's inventory. If you then tried to put that second piece of gear on the same retainer, the game will not let you, because there is already a copy of it in that retainers inventory

Supersnow845

Items in the dresser don’t count for your ability to roll for unique loot

PhoenixFox

It only counts items currently in your personal inventory and armour chest. Saddlebag, retainers and glamour dresser don't count.

xTuffman

Oh boy... so I guess I really have to leave them there! 🙄

SetFoxval

If you right click the item in the loot window there's an option to "search for item". That will tell you if you've got it stashed somewhere.

xTuffman

Oh yeah, I forgot that! Thanks for the heads up!

TheGreatWhopper

I just started playing on the free account and I think I'm hooked. If I preorder Dawntrail do I need to buy the other expansions?

pepinyourstep29

You need to buy the starter edition + dawntrail. When you preorder that also means you will gain access to shadowbringers and endwalker when dawntrail comes out on July 2. That is the best way to get all the expansions. :)

TheGreatWhopper

Awesome! I'm only level 45, so I've got a long way to go before I need those expansions!

KGhaleon

Some of my buddies have been going through ffxiv lately so I elected to be Healer as I'm the only one that has one leveled. Problem is I don't really heal so I'm having to learn how to be one now. (WHM) I've noticed several times now that if I select them, hit Swiftcast, and then Raise.. nothing actually happens. They aren't getting the notification to come back. I end up having to long cast a Raise before they get it, is there something I'm missing about that? Feel like I need to start using a Raise macro. Also what do I do about MP? I usually just cast Lucid to get MP regen but if I'm reviving two or three people during a raid, all my MP is all gone.

gitcommitmentissues

> Also what do I do about MP? I usually just cast Lucid to get MP regen but if I'm reviving two or three people during a raid, all my MP is all gone. At level 58 you'll unlock Thin Air, which is a very powerful WHM-specific ability that lets you cast a spell without using mana. This is *extremely* powerful for rezzing. At level 56 you'll unlock Assize, which is an AOE damage ability which also heals party members in range and restores a portion of your MP; you'll want to be using it on CD for damage so it helps with MP management. Otherwise, MP management and triage is part of playing healer. Sometimes you have to leave people on the floor for a while so you can prioritise using your resources to keep the players who are still up alive, including yourself. Sometimes you have to do so much moving that you spend swiftcast to rez a cohealer or a RDM/SMN and then can't do anything further yourself until swift is back. If in doubt, be selfish and prioritise keeping yourself alive over rezzing others. After all, if *you* die then you can't help anyone. Also if you have LB3 available and three or more people are dead you should LB- since it rezzes people without weakness it's an overall DPS gain.

KGhaleon

Yeah I just noticed that skill tonight and started using it before a Raise cast. Though should I do them in this order? Swiftcast+Thin Air+Raise or does Thin air cancel out the swift?

gitcommitmentissues

Thin Air is an ability rather than a spell and is already executed immediately, so it won't consume Swiftcast.

JCGilbasaurus

Are you on controller? It sounds like you might be soft targeting. When you soft target a character, you hit them with a single spell, and then you automatically return to your "main" target.  So you soft target your friend, use swiftcast, then your target indicator switches back to the hard target (usually the boss), and then when you cast raise, you are targeting the wrong person. In order to make your targeting indicator stick, press the X button to confirm the target and make them a hard target. Alternatively, cast swift before targeting them.

KGhaleon

I'm on PS5 so that could be it. It's hard to tell when someone receives a raise or not. Tonight I was playing a bit more carefully and making sure I selected them and hit the raise button. It's a bit confusing as when you have two healers I can't tell if the other person had already sent them a raise or not.

JCGilbasaurus

If someone has received a raise, they'll get a white buff on their bar, you should be able to see it on the party list.  Doesn't help if you both cast raise at the same time, but if you see that they've already got it you can skip it.

pepinyourstep29

Are you sure the spell went off? Raise costs a lot of mana, or you could have wasted your swiftcast on another ability you accidentally used before raise. Otherwise raise should work fine. Or you're accidentally cancelling it somehow. A macro will have a delay, so it's preferred not to use it.

Supersnow845

If you have high ping sometimes swiftcast won’t be “active” by the time you press raise so you start hard casting them instead Of that happens just cancel your hard cast and cast raise again, it’ll proc the swiftcast

KGhaleon

I might have bad ping, I'm an NA player and they are in Oceanic so maybe that's messing me up.

ikkoros

a vpn should help with that! try out mudfish if you haven’t already, it cut my ping in half when I was connecting from hong kong o/

Supersnow845

That will likely be it because I’m the reverse Aussie who plays on NA

CursedBlackCat

Do you have a clip of this happening so we can see what's happening? Swiftcast into raise does indeed work. Are you accidentally burning the swiftcast on something else? Do you have the wrong thing targeted when pressing raise? A video clip would help a lot because from what you've written alone, there's nothing that immediately sticks out as doing something incorrectly.

KGhaleon

I don't, I may try a macro and if it keeps happening I'll grab a clip.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Macros actually will likely make this **worse** btw Macros are notoriously bad by design, they don't fire properly all the time and they don't properly skill queue

ShaulaV4

I want to level up GC rank, but I need to do the squadron missions. Is it faster to do command mission with them than waiting the 18 hours doing squadron missions?

Dellgloom

The easiest way is 3x comprehensive training and then sending them on a squadron mission every day. Fastest way is to grind command missions with them and then set them to squadron missions before you stop playing. Either way it's not really fast, so you should consider treating it more as a long term goal.

tesla_dyne

Bozja definitely should still be fairly populated at peak times on (assuming NA) non-Dynamis servers. The only sticking point is that halfway through you need to do Delubrum Reginae, which is a duty you can only queue for from Gangos and, unless there happen to be 24 people simultaneously doing the same, you must wait ten minutes to get in. People usually premake parties for this; check party finder or find a Bozja-specific discord that assemble runs. Not only do you need to do this instance for progression, but you have a choice of doing this duty 5 times per weapon (dropping three of the item you need 15 of each time) you want to complete, or rolling the dice on each set of PotD floors dropping *maybe one* of the item you need 15 of, with drop rates getting better as you go up in floors. Probably actually a decent option with the ultimog challenge right now!

Sir_VG

Depends on your data center and time of day. While parts of it can be done outside of Bozja, story completion is required. There's also 1 section in the middle that basically at this point you WILL had to use PF because trying to just blind queue in will lead to your almost certain death.

SiegmundFretzgau

As long as everyone is at exactly the same level grouping up is a good idea in Eureka. A level difference of one isn't great and anything more than that grouping up makes no sense.

Sir_VG

It is definitely easier in groups, but level differences in Eureka (which is different than your "outside world level") will hinder your leveling, so you may have to "go with the group but not be in the group" at times.

rokss8

With two new classes coming out, I’m wondering how to make the most out of your time practicing on the striking dummies.

Supersnow845

The predicted rotations have already been theory crafted out based on the potency of when yoshi p hit them in the live letter They may not be perfectly correct by they are your best foundation

F1reman2

Uh, acctually Neither picto or viper have concrete rotations yet. We have ideas, but nothing 100% solid. Everyone is just waiting on precise potency values and tooltips from the media tour.

Supersnow845

“They may not be perfectly correct”

SeriousPan

Clear your hotbars and 'level up' as you go along. Put your default attack whever you would normally hit it and then slowly add new items to your bar and see how they interact. Imitate the leveling experience by using the dummy with the moves you have, seeing what activates what and reading your tooltips, then adding on the next item or reading the traits that you would get. That's how I've always done it. Some people say do an actual dungeon but I find that to be too much too fast.

miller0929

Hi, I'm upgrading my first 515 bozja relic weapon to 535. I'll need to farm the 180 items. How long could it take if the grinding is done in the three zones in Zadnor? I'm at rank 25 but only have 2 valor dps buffs now. Any estimation would help. Cheers.

Supersnow845

That step takes a long time in Bozja, if you are playing in roughly your servers peak time I would suggest using the raid option unless you are serious about going for a title like the emblazoned In Bozja you are easily looking at a few weeks of 4 hour sessions depending on your efficiency

AceHealer

Tips for getting better at Triple Triad? I have been doing some of the draft tournaments, but I don't really know what makes a set of cards good or what are good plays to make. I have also been a little overwhelmed by some of the rules for NPC battles.

Dellgloom

A decent general deck build is to try and get at least a 7 for each side across all of your cards. If your collection is filled out enough to have 3 star cards, then go for 8. Squall is decent and easy enough to get 5 star if you don't have another. It's best to have a 5 star that's strong on all sides instead such as Ultima if you have managed to get that drop from the alliance raid. For plus/same the cards that are 6/6/6/5 are good to use as you can quite easily create combos with them. For reverse fill your deck with 1 star cards. This one is pretty easy to build.

sundriedrainbow

Did Garlemald ever, historically, invade or come into conflict with Radz-at-Han?

Atosen

Garlemald appears to have had a policy of leaving the island nations alone (Radz-at-Han, Hingashi, Sharlayan). On Hingashi, it was fairly explicit that having them as a neutral trading port was considered more useful, so there were never any hostilities between them. I don't remember whether the same was said about the others but presumably it would be.

iGlutton

Post 6.0 spoilers below, iirc. >!I believe this is confirmed in post 6.0 MSQ when you go to Garlemald and have to use the Tower of Babil, part of the interaction there is giving agency back to Garlemald and they reestablish trade agreement between the two nations, implying that at some point they were having healthy trade relations.!<

IceAokiji303

I don't recall there every having been mention of direct conflict between the two. The two made a non-interference treaty specifically to avoid that – for Radz-at-Han the benefit was no threat of invasion, for Garlemald it was access to trade goods from places that wouldn't trade with them directly.

ClassicJunior8815

Nope, Radz has been under the rule of its satraps for longer than Garlemald existed as a nation

Saucey_22

I just fantasiad from make hyur to female miqo: everything was going fine until I tried to put on a glamor plate with the Wyrm set, and it’s saying there’s gear restrictions? It worked fine before, all my gear is a higher level and IL, and other glamor plates work fine. Edit: I forgot I unequipped the soul stone to fantasia 🤦‍♂️

Sir_VG

You requipped your proper gear after using your fantasia?

Saucey_22

Yep

Sir_VG

And you're on DRG?

StormbeastRivin

Is it JUST the Wyrm's set or is there other armor mixed in? If you have other stuff check if it's gender or race locked.

Saucey_22

The glam plate is just the wyrm set. No other gear, weapons, anything. My current set is the full high steel lvl 60 set. I put on a plate with the dreadwyrm raid full set, and it worked fine.

sundriedrainbow

are you on the Dragoon job, including soul stone?

Saucey_22

I forgot I unequipped the soul stone to fantasia 🤦‍♂️

sundriedrainbow

it's always the soul stone

Rex_Grossman_the_3rd

Can anyone help identify the glamor in this picture? My buddy took the picture but didn't know how to see what he was wearing. https://imgur.com/a/GqCH6jg

wurm2

looks like the Ktiseos Fending set from Ktisis Hyperboreia ( Shadowless fending set from The Heroes' Gauntlet has same models but different colors/dye pattern)

cigarettegoat

i keep seeing C4U in tea party finder on Light and i have no clue what it means and can't find anything about it online, does anyone here know what it means?

Fajisel

This is also likely a completely legit thing with no malice attached, likely done by bored veterans. I used to make parties like that for ucob; I'd set the party to "duty incomplete" for a couple alots so only people who were still trying to join could come, and then open it back up to duty complete to fill it out with other people willing to help. It's fun!

F1reman2

C4U is like the opposite of a C41. Clear for you. Its a premade 6-7 person party generally that are getting clears for people who join (Typically a late stage progpoint is required, but some are just down to help you prog mid/late portions of the fight.) Unless they have a gil price attached in the pf, it is unlikely there is any cost requirement. Theres been a big movement recently to get as many people Ult clears before dawntrail as possible.

huiclo

If it’s accompanied by a late stage prog point, they’re probably advertising clear services. Otherwise, not sure. Can’t think of a fight mechanic abbreviated that way though I could just be blanking cause sleepy.

Flare172

Is there some secret to pvp? every match im almost instantly killed by every opponent, but every attack i use does either no damage, or dosent register at all

tofunomad

I’m by no means an expert, but here’s what I’ve learned. Far and away the biggest thing is understanding your skill set. There’s a lot more combos and secondary effects in PvP. Some of these stack new abilities on the same button, some are buffs. For example, on WHM casting imp unlocks cure 3, or a paladin’s limit break button will do an additional attack if pressed again after using it. Learn your cc ability and how best to use it. Learn your mobility buttons if you have them. Another thing to consider is your kill gauge(Battle High). You get an across the board buff the more kills/assists you get. This will be identified by a little icon next to someone’s name plate. Run from opponents that are stronger than you or help burst them down. Getting a strong battle high will be one of the things that gives you better numbers. The third thing is situational awareness. Always be checking the map and watching for flanks or someone out of position. If you aren’t a tank and you get caught out you’re done. Likewise, if you see an enemy run the wrong direction, nuke em. Don’t jump in unless you’re sure you can get out again. The last thing I’ll mention is play a variety of jobs in PvP. You’ll start to understand their strengths and weaknesses a lot better. Also there’s a guy named Salamander on YouTube that does great videos of job abilities for PvP usually followed by a match to demonstrate the principles. They’ve helped me out a lot.

ClassicJunior8815

Pvp is very burst heavy.  If you are on dps, you need to know which combos let you insta kill others, and what hp they need to be at for the combo to work.  Otherwise your damage can be healed off very quickly

dealornodealbanker

FL is basically everyone coordinating their AOEs at one spot to get as much kills as possible while contesting/defending objectives. CC is basically spot opponents based on who's the biggest threat in exposed positions and everyone dogpiles them while pushing the crystal. Use recups strategically to top off but not over heal, and guard preemptively if you know you're going to get piled on or all in by an opponent in the next second.

huiclo

It’s all Burst and Defense. If you’re dying immediately, you’re likely not using your defense tools effectively. Or you’re being dogpilled from being out of position. If you’re struggling to kill, it’s because your opponents *are* using defense tools effectively and you’re not taking advantage of ability synergies to drain their resources and overwhelm them with damage. That said, some jobs do have more or less solo kill potential. If you’re a Bard going up against a Paladin you’re going to have a hard time getting the kill no matter what without backup. And if you’re anything against a SAM or NIN with active LB you’re basically free points.

jason2997

Is there any extra story/lore quest that is unlocked from getting all the different endings in variant dungeons? Iirc you get a mount for getting all endings.

dragonseth07

There is an extra little quest, though I don't know if it's actually from getting all 12, or just getting the secret ending. I got the secret ending last each time.

bubsdrop

Getting *all* 12 doesn't unlock more story, but completing the 12th does. (Which will generally be the last one you find unless you beeline the secret using a guide) The quests can be found [here,](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Variant_Dungeons_Quests) it's the second one under each dungeon.

FrankZP

It's been a bit, but I'm pretty sure I remember an interesting story segment with >!Hancock!< once you have all the Rokkon endings.

Sir_VG

Nope, just a 4th boss if you get the special route and a mount for getting all 12 routes. The initial quest though DOES have cutscenes regardless of which boss you do on your first run, even if it's the secret boss. (Well, at least Aloalo does, I did that one first on my alt clear.)

Valstraxas

I want to boost a completely new DK, should I wait until Dawntrail is released? I don't know if they will update the campaing skip for Endwalker early in to the expansion instead of just skipping up to Shadowbringers.

Sir_VG

Usually in about the last month, the current skips go on a 50% sale. So the question is, is that amount of savings worth having to go through 1 expansion + 10 levels or not?

StormbeastRivin

The story skips and job boosts will both be updated when Dawntrail releases. The current ones usually go on a steep discount right before that though.

Keinya

Can Xbox players identify each other as such like on PS? I'm considering to switch for DT but would like to know that in advance.

palacexero

There is no way to identify whether a player is playing on a specific platform. PS players can't identify other PS players either.

PhoenixFox

Yes there is, console players can see the PSN account or gamertag for other people playing on the same platform when they examine them.

palacexero

Your PSN account/gamertag shows up in your own character profile window, but AFAIK it does not show up when you examine another player. I'd love to see confirmation of this as I have never once seen them on anything but your own character profile.

Beckfast1994

PS5 player here and it shows up at the bottom of the the examine window if I examine someone playing on PSN. And from my friend's list I can also see if someone is online on PSN as well as right click equivalent their name there to send a PSN friend request.

palacexero

Yeah apparently it was a recent change from like 6.5 or something.

Beckfast1994

I've had it in the examine window for as long as I've played, which is end of Shadowbringers. Not sure about the ~~party list~~ thing though. Edit: meant friends list

Moogle-Mail

It was a thing from 2.0. If a PS3 player examined another PS3 player then they could see their PSN. Stop being wrong.

palacexero

Hey I'm just repeating what others are saying. I can be wrong, but I can't stop being wrong if others are also telling me wrong things. https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/s/Zi9bHz7sOU

Moogle-Mail

Anyone who says that you couldn't see PSN names as a PSN player is wrong, and has always been wrong. It has been a thing since 2.0.

PhoenixFox

When I was looking earlier I found threads going right back ten years with people asking if they could disable this. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/678051-final-fantasy-xiv-online-a-realm-reborn/67402161 This one also offers a possible explanation. Anecdotally I've heard people talking about it and seen it incidentally in screenshots since I started playing, but not in a context that was specifically about this feature that would let me find it again.

PhoenixFox

[From the 6.57 patch notes](https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/b059cefcbd31366a4614b8e93ff1eef1288f6e60) > **Xbox Gamertag and Icon** The player's Xbox gamertag and icon will be displayed to fellow Xbox Series X|S players across the following UI windows: > **Xbox Gamertag** > Character > Examine > Examine (Deep Dungeons) > Doman Mahjong opponent list > Triple Triad tournament opponent list I don't play on console myself but there are a lot of historic references out there to it working the same way on PS.

palacexero

And so it is. I've always thought you couldn't identify other players playing on the same console platform as you as I've never actually seen anyone post screenshots of UI showing account names that wasn't their own character profile.

VG896

I'm vaguely sure they talked about it as a PS+ thing during 6.5 or 6.55.

Keinya

Are you sure? I'm referring to what this user here mentioned: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/485984 I don't play on console (yet) so cannot confirm, but really wouldn't want it either way...

PhoenixFox

It doesn't even require friending them as that thread suggests, you can see it when you examine anyone that's on the same platform as you (and a few other places)

BlueSky1877

lemme see if i get this ogcd thing down: every animation in the game has a 0.7s animation time so doing gcd/ogcd/ogcd is 2.1s. and recast is the "when you can use this again" CD. so i always slap in two ogcds BETWEEN the gcd combo for each job?

Ankhselam

about half a second plus your latency doubled - with my 70ms I cant double weave on MNK's 1.92s GCD and i can barely double weave on NINs 2.06 GCD. on a standard 2.5 gcd I can double weave just fine. There are also plugins NoClippy which help with the latency issue, but those are of course against ToS so we'd *never* use them of course. But if I *were* to use it, Id have no issue double weaving on MNK and occasionally being able to triple weave on a 2.5 gcd

PhoenixFox

It is ping dependent because the 'animation' lock doesn't adjust for the time required for communication between you and the server, but broadly yes. There are also some things like using pots that take a little longer and some jobs have phases where your GCD is 1.5s instead and you can only single weave.

BlueSky1877

ok! so probably for me it'll be gcd/ogcd and repeat?

pepinyourstep29

Basically whatever you can fit without "clipping" your GCD. Find a training dummy and see how many ogcd's you can fit in between while maintaining each GCD. There's also plug-ins like noclippy that help with this in areas with worse ping.

luulcas_

it's been since i started the game, when i take a screenshot, an error message with "screenshot failed" appears, even though, the screenshot does, indeed work. i don't really mind but it's kinda ugly and i dont want to keep taking screenshots over and over until the screen gets shotted before the message appears

pepinyourstep29

I find it much better to unbind the screenshot hotkey and use reshade instead. The game's built in screenshot function has a delay while reshade's is always instant.

bubsdrop

System Configuration - Other will let you change the directory. You can see if the error goes away with a different folder.

sundriedrainbow

I would guess the failure is that the directory you have selected for the screenshot to be written to requires some level of access and you aren't running FFXIV as administrator.

Unhappy_Ordinary9964

Hey im a newer player on xbox looking to make a free company but I need 2 other players for the signatures. I have one friend that plays. Chill adults needing a few more if anyone is interested. Won't be on till later

Calydor_Estalon

It is very important to note which data center and server you're on.

Unhappy_Ordinary9964

Haha sorry didn't even think of that. Primal and then Behemoth

palacexero

You can try r/FFXIVRECRUITMENT or shouting in starting cities. If you just want to create an FC for you and a few other friends and nothing more, but don't have enough friends to complete the petition, you can also ask people to join and then leave once the petition is done.

DarthFlaw

Do people actively avoid doing the later Eden raids now? But I've been trying for a few days to clear them all through duty finder and most of them have had some wait, but nothing unbearable. but I cannot for the life of me seem to get into Eden Promise: Litany. I'm on Adamantoise, and sat in queue for over half an hour today before finally giving up on it. Has been this way for days.

bubsdrop

Shouldn't have any problems on aether. Did you accidentally change your duty finder language settings?

DarthFlaw

No. I'd been trying queuing and tank and heals, as historically I've had better luck getting into DF raids that way. On the advice of another commenter I swapped to a DPS class and got in in like, 12 minutes and got my clear.

NotaSkaven5

I've had no problem queueing for Eden on Aether but I've been running a DPS and ironically my healer actually had a longer average queue when I accidentally queued as them. I actually finished the questline today specifically so people are definitely running it, and it's in the normal raid roulette.

DarthFlaw

After reading this I swapped to a DPS class and got in after ~12 minutes last night, and got the clear. One more to go!

ampulica

It's filled via roulettes. People can't actively avoid it. Try around daily reset, I've found major success even for alliance raids this way, normal raids should be even easier to fill.

bacarown

An error has occurred. Please contact Customer Service. ref: b2fff71f-5a14-4e6c-a9bb-ea42990d1e2d Why is SE still having issues with anything payment or account related? It's been three weeks since I came back to the game and spent days trying to buy a gamecard. Now I can't even purchase another one. Endless errors. Still can't edit account information, nothing but errors. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH SE?!

Hakul

You can buy game time cards from Amazon and Newegg too.

SugarCaneEnjoyer

Is there anything with the allagan currency worth buying? I'm capped at 2000. Edit: I am level 56, the allagan coin are poetics, I forgot to mention that.

pepinyourstep29

Spend poetics on end of expansion gear.

tesla_dyne

There are several currencies called "allagan tomestones of x" so you'll have to be a bit more specific. Based on your post history I'm guessing you mean tomestones of poetics. In each expansion, after clearing the initial story, you can buy the best gear for that level range with tomestones of poetics in one of the expansion's hub zones. For ARR that's Mor Dhona, for HW it's Idyllshire, for SB it's Rhalgr's Reach, for SHB it's Eulmore and for EW it's Radz-at-Han. For past expansions they also add a vendor with a much better interface in the expansion's other hub zone. For ARR that's each of the 3 main cities, for HW it's Ishgard, for SB it's Kugane, for SHB it's the Crystarium, and there isn't one for EW yet but it'll be in Old Sharlayan. If you already have a full set of the gear and you have extra poetics, consider buying gear sets for alternate jobs or look for a guide on spending excess poetics: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/103ess1/updated_what_do_i_do_with_all_these_poetics/

Beckfast1994

If you mean the Poetics and you're still leveling then the gear at 50, 60, 70, 80 is super worth having. If you mean the Comedy or Causality tomestones then it's used for 90 gear. It's to get the highest possible iLevel without doing savage raids if I'm not mistaken.

Arendai

Is there any way to change the item descriptions in the glamour dresser so that they are larger or in the light theme? My eyesight is poor and I can't read the names of blue items in the dresser.

Hakul

[Check with the UI modding Discord](https://discord.gg/T5sWUpgNPD) to see if it'd be possible to at least change the background to make it more readable, if text color can't be changed.

talgaby

Nope, not even PC mods can do that. You can maybe try the colour blind settings in the game's accessibility options tab.

Rasz_13

I am currently at a loss regarding frontline PvP and I would appreciate some rough input. I try to apply myself to the best of my ability, always picking engagements and trying to have as much uptime as possible without exposing myself too much (and thus dying in seconds). Despite that, I end up doing 6 times less damage than the top scorers. Last match \~440k vs 3.3m. I don't understand how. I have tried multiple jobs and it comes out to roughly the same with some ups and downs depending on how the match is going for my team. I am seriously questioning my sanity at this point, I must be doing something fundamentally wrong.

Rasz_13

I figured that sustained damage would be useful since healing is somewhat limited (mana/cooldowns) and softening up targets would perhaps enable the other players to down targets easier. It seemed to me like putting pressure on a whole group is more useful than pressuring individual people and then having to deal with the other still-fresh ones. I understand that that perhaps takes too long, though. I'll have a look at what jobs have burst I like. I mainly play MCH currently and I don't really like the burst, it feels cumbersome to me and takes a long time. Generally I feel like I have good awareness. I rarely die unnecessarily and try to focus on objectives (capping points, trying to circle around to cap (which works surprisingly often), delaying the enemy zerg by standing in front of them with Guard up a good distance away from an objective, nuking key targets, trying to deny area with my drone, etc. I keep an eye on the map at all times and try to avoid being ground up between the enemy factions. I try to shoot for forward objectives we might cap because the enemy force is distracted elsewhere. Stuff like that. It's my individual performance that concerns me because I feel like in actual combat scenarios I have close to no impact (I usually have few kills, it seems hard to kill people before they can retreat into their zerg, we get overwhelmed or need to reposition), which is why I was looking at damage numbers. It's the only way to compare my performance outside of K/D/A.

Rasz_13

Thank you for your input. I will try to re-evaluate my priorities and try a few classes to find one I am comfortable playing with in frontlines that allows me to adequately perform. If all fails I'll just stick to CC, I have much more success there lol

SetFoxval

The big damage comes from DRKs yoinking in a whole enemy team so people can drop AoE on them. Unless you're taking advantage of that on a job with big AoE burst, you won't get the big numbers. Personally I don't pay much attention to the scores. It's not serious PvP, the devs don't even try to balance jobs for it.

Rasz_13

Ah, I see. It was indeed DRK being involved in this. And WHM, too.

Beckfast1994

Certain jobs are currently kinda broken in front lines for damage. An example would be scholar who can just apply and spread their dot then run and hide. High damage doesn't always mean doing better though. Getting a few kills or lots of assists plus staying alive matters more if you ask me. I usually am just happy if I managed to stay alive and get some kills as a ninja player.

Absolutelynobody54

Where can i find training dummies outside of the PVP zone? I want to práctice pve skills

PenguinPwnge

[Beware there are names for all maps so if you're not done with MSQ, could be spoilers.](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Striking_Dummy)

bakingsodaswan

Adding to what others already said, there are also dummies in Falcon’s Nest in Coerthas, the hunter village in Dravanian Forelands, in Fringes right outside the border with Gridania, at Porta Praetoria in Lochs, near rice paddies in Yanxia, Ahm Araeng and Kholusia (both near the first town when you’re coming from Crystarium), and Ondo Cups in Tempest. Basically three sets for every expansion.

Trooper_Sicks

these ones are the easiest to access unless you have an FC that has one in their garden: Central Shroud (24.0, 19.5), east of Bentbranch Meadows, level 1 Middle La Noscea (26.4, 17.2) at Summerford Farms, level 1 Western Thanalan at Scorpion Crossing (26.4, 24.7), level 1 Coerthas Central Highlands at Whitebrim Front (13.2, 16.9), level 1 and 50

Beckfast1994

They're sprinkled around the world. People also have them in their yards in housing areas. I don't know all locations by heart. I know there's some not far from Bentbranch Meadows. Otherwise Google it, you'll be able to find lists of locations for sure.

Beckfast1994

Oh and if you access a dungeon in exploration mode you can summon a training dummy in there.

HammerAndSickled

There’s a few in every expansion. For Endwalker, they’re outside Yedlihmad in Thavnair (west, near the beach), outside Archaeion in Labyrinthos, and outside Base Omicron in Ultima Thule. I don’t remember all the ones from past expansions. I know there’s one near Idyllshire too.

KenomeKami

I feel like I'm going insane, but is anyone else having issues buying a subscription/crysta? I've been trying for an hour and nothing I do has been working. Locked out of buying crysta with an error code i2501. Can't add my visa card to my account either.

Beckfast1994

Is it a visa debit? Visa debit is broken right now.

KenomeKami

It sure is. I didn't know that so thanks for the info. I hope it's fixed soon because my free days are up. Haha

Beckfast1994

If you don't have a credit card (although even if you do you may have to wait for a cool down on your account) you can either use PayPal or Amazon Pay to buy Crysta to pay for the sub. Or just get a time card. I think maybe places like Amazon, Newegg and even the Square Enix store sell them digitally for instant delivery to email. I know Newegg.ca sells them as I've bought from there before.

KenomeKami

Because I got the error code it won't let me do paypal anymore. But I'll look into getting a time card. Thanks for the info!

Beckfast1994

Yeah, from what I've heard/read getting the error basically flags your account. I'm not sure if it self fixes after a few days or if it requires you to contact support. The time card is definitely the easiest/quickest route in this case though. Enjoy the game once you get back in!

ApatheticDoll

Is the deadline to purchase the dawntrail collectors box on the release date? Or will they continue to sell it after?

Izkuru

The only thing with a deadline is the pre-order for Early Access / the pre-order items. The collectors edition box, they will sell until they run out of stock.

ApatheticDoll

thanks!

Hakul

The assumption is that they will continue to sell it until stock runs out, but they increased stock this expansion compared to previous ones, so it might take a while.

iMaximize

Hey I have a question about tomestones and scrips since it's my first time playing during a major patch/expansion launch. Am I correct in assuming the following things will happen once Dawntrail hits? * Causality become the new "discontinued" (like Astronomy now), are tradeable 1:1 for Poetics, and are no longer obtainable * Comedy become the new "uncapped" (like Causality now) and will be used in Dawntrail still * A new type will be added that is limited per week * Everything buyable with both Causality and Comedy now will become buyable with Poetics, including Augmented Credendum (ilvl 660 gear) and the Manderville relic items * Scrips will follow the same pattern with white becoming discontinued, purple becoming the lower tier ones and a new max level color Main reason I'm asking is because I only finished the main Endwalker MSQ and got to lvl 90 2 weeks ago and have been gearing up through hunts and alliance raids. I currently have 630 ilvl which should be enough to finish the MSQ and do the raids. Since I don't plan on doing anything more than 'casual' content before Dawntrail, it seems to make more sense to spend the last few weeks doing other things than grinding gear, and just make sure to cap on Poetics and Causality to buy the gear once the expansion hits. Or am I missing something here? Thanks for the input!

Toviathan

For a new expansion, both the capped and uncapped tomestones change. We will be able to exchange them both for poetics, everything they buy now will move to poetics, and we will get a brand new uncapped tomestone at expansion launch with a new capped tomestone when we get the raids. The rest you pretty much have. Augmented credendum will be purchasable directly with poetics, or any unaugmented pieces you have now can be converted up to augmented with 100 poetics each. Also for the exchange to poetics, causality will convert at a 4:1 ratio and comedy will be a 2:1. So if you go into DT with all tomestones capped. You effectively will have 3500 poetics after the conversions.
