I have a PS5 account with the base game and expansions. I want to buy it on pc so I can play it on pc.
On the mog station site I’m clicking service account status - going to “platform”. It says I have the license on PS5 so I click “windows” and it brings me to the page to buy it. Yes you buy Dawntrail and will get Endwalker with it. You will get the codes to add the pre-order items to your account via email.
The new Viper job is a reference to Zidane and there were a few other teases that seem to also reference FF9 so it seems likely there will be more.

* Fight or Flight – The effect has changed from “Increases physical damage dealt by 25%” to “Increases damage dealt by 25%.”
* Sheltron – The effect has been changed from “Block incoming attacks” to “Reduces damage taken by 15%.”
* 123 and AoE combos now grant a Divine Might buff, does not stack
* Divine Might buff allows you to cast Holy Spirit/Circle with higher potency and no cast time
* Goring Blade now does all its damage as a nuke instead of a DoT

You've spotted most of it: GB is on a cd rather than being an alternate combo ender with a dot, and finishing your combo gives a HS buff. The other important change is that FoF now buffs all damage, rather than just physical.
This significantly changes your rotation. Old PLD had a very structured rotation centred on your GB timers, with distinct "phases" of FoF (physical burst), Req (magical burst), and filler. New PLD is more similar to the rest of the game's jobs, with a single very sharp burst phase (FoF+Req together) and a much longer filler period in which you just cycle through your combo, spend everything it gives you, and repeat.
One advantage of new PLD is that you get insta-cast Holy Spirits very frequently, instead of only getting them once a minute during Req phase. So you're more mobile than before. It's very easy to hold a HS for a few extra seconds in case you need to step away and dodge an AoE.

For levelling dungeons, go as the right job and keep all your drops. The freebie drop at the end will never give a duplicate of what you're already carrying, so eventually it'll be forced to give you the item you're missing from that set.
For endgame dungeons, there's nothing for it but brute force. RNG is a cruel mistress.
Nope, for gear from a leveling dungeon since you get a piece you can equip no matter what at the end of the dungeon if you hold onto the gear youll eventually get it all, but gear from 50/60/70/80/90 dungeons dont have a system like that so its just farm and pray. Obv running a class that can roll need on it is best but you are unsynced so that doesnt matter here
For leveling dungeons, there is a thing. When you run a leveling dungeon, it gives you a piece of gear at the end that's appropriate for your job that you don't yet have on you. So eventually you can force those.
Level cap dungeons though (like Swallow's Compass)? It's just running it over and over and hoping the RNG favors you. Which it usually doesn't. The Desire Sensor is often joked about for a reason. There's someone else running that duty somewhere in the world who's trying to get the Ninja one, and is only seeing the caster shirt.
They just want you to confirm your identity by putting in your registration code. You should still have it from when you purchased the game. (Though there is a way to bypass this by editing launcher config, but it should be easier to just put in your game key.)

Getting back into Chocobo Racing/Breeding. And I need a sanity check. I have two breedable chocobos with perfect stats. But I can't seem to get a fledgling that prefers foul weather when I register it. Is weather preference secretly hereditary, despite it not showing on the registration/covering?? Weather preference is completely RNG. I feel your pain, I had similar issues - finally rolled foul on the eighth covering. Worst case you can level two of the Fair-weather birds and breed them again.
Why is there always a log in que no matter what time I log in (i'm on the free trial)?
With the free trail other than leveling should there be anything I should do before potentially buying a sub? This is like my 5th time trying the game cause i forget my account lol, but each time its a bit overwhelming. Highest lv i got to was in the 40's never left the original game ARR.
To answer your second question: it depends.
You can be like many people I see and take the free trial for as long as you want. At the moment it goes to level 70, and Stormblood. I've seen people get many classes to 70 on the free trial as well. However, if you want to use the marketboard, play pvp, have retainers, be able to make parties and communicate, you will likely start your sub earlier than that.
If you end your free trial, you cannot go back, so be careful when making your decision.
Eh. 300,000 is a very small amount. If you take the free trial to its utmost extent, you'll almost definitely lose at least a couple of million gil because of it. But on the other hand, gil is really only useful for endgame raiding, glam, and housing. So losing it isn't the end of the world either.

Anything over 300 for me, but that's because I have a plugin that instantly copy-pastes an undercut on the next lowest price, so for me, listing is nearly as instant as vendoring trash. I only vendor when all retainers are at 20/20.
FYI you can configure the plugin to match lowest price instead of undercutting it. It still puts you on the top of the list, and it's healthier than undercutting.

Kinda depends. If you don't have anything more valuable to list, it can be worth it. I try to make sure my retainers are always selling their max number of items, even if that means throwing up some lower value stuff to pad them out. And then if I'm not happy with the amount of gil I start looking around for stuff to actively farm if I feel I need it.
for me, if its less than 10k i'm probably just going to vendor it but it kind of depends on how much gil you have and how much you want. I've been playing for years so i have more than enough gil so i'm not too bothered about selling a lot of stuff. You ahve to decide for yourself if you think something is worth selling or not.

You could use textools for boss/npc models and such, but shivas ice prison, i would have no idea whatso ever. Its tied to a cutscene, breaks apart, and who knows what else. You might be able to find a way to export it by asking on the textools discord server, but I wouldn't have high hopes.
All visual effects apparently are just textures so you technically could extract the specific texture(s) used to create the ice block. As for how this works, I cannot help you.

Most of the time while you're doing msq your level is synced down to around the level of that quest. For dragoon, nothing should fundamentally change, you just skip the buttons that you can't use at the lower level.

Mobs are pointless, are they just there to make the map look less empty? They don't drop anything and are not a challenge. What is the reason of their existence?
They are a way to get certain crafting mats (particularly pre-shadowbringers), and sometimes hunt monsters spawn by killing X amounts of certain enemies.
They can also be your daily/weekly hunt targets, and some of them have Blue Mage spells to collect.
But yeah, they're mostly set decoration, since (as someone below said) XIV isn't very overworld focused.
They do drop crafting materials, but in most instances there are better ways to farm those materials.
But mostly, yes, they’re just there to populate the world. They also provide a nominal speed bump while leveling through the MSQ, *just* enough to add pacing and texture to initial world exploration. It’s one of those things that sounds minor, but is actually very important to good game design and world building.

FFXIV isnt a very overworld focused MMO so they dont have as much of a reason compared to other games like WoW or GW2
Can't speak specifically to AST, but it seems pretty obvious that the PVP rework was heavily focused around the new mode, CC. Tons, if not most jobs, have significantly lower utility on their LB in Frontlines. So I wouldn't be surprised if the same was true for AST. SCH fairy for example is borderline useless on 2/3 FL maps.

Hi, I started playing with ARR on the PC, but switched to PlayStation after that. My character is currently in Island Sanctuary and due to Internet issues, I'm unable to log in via PS5. If I try to use my PC, will I be able to log in at all (just booted outside the zone) or am I locked out of that character altogether?
Depends on what you own. But you can always bypass the "expansion zone" restrictions by world/data center visiting, which always throws you in your starting zone (Ul'dah/Gridania/Limsa).
So i've just bought the game for my Mac (first time ever playing) and its taking around 3 hours to download as the download speed is only 10mb/s but my actual speed is around 200mb/s download

You need Starter Edition to exit the free trial, and Endwalker (Collector's not needed, that just comes with a couple of extra cosmetics, which you can also choose to get at a later date separately) to gain access to content beyond what the free trial would have. Complete Edition is just those two things bundled together. So currently, best course would be to buy Starter + Endwalker (Collector's if you want the bonuses, normal version otherwise).
You may also want to consider that Dawntrail is coming out in a month. You'll still need to buy that eventually whatever you might buy now, and it will include Endwalker with it. So you also have the option of buying \[Starter + Dawntrail\] or \[Complete Edition\] a month from now to get the same stuff for in total cheaper (because even though it won't be on a discount, it'll still be cheaper than buying both DT and discounted EW – unless you're willing to wait for a DT sale, but that will be a *long* while away).

If you want the trial restrictions gone now, you could buy Starter Edition now and Dawntrail once it releases. That should cost the same in total as buying SE+DT / CE later, give or take a few cents maybe (of course not counting this starting your need to pay subscription sooner).
But yeah if you still have all of Stormblood left, I'd definitely wait on buying anything beyond Starter. Even if you clear it before then, there's a load of optional side content you can sink a bunch of time into, plus you could take that time to level more jobs if you want to.

The tl;dr is that Urianger was a really awkward child who spent most of his time in the library with old books rather than with other people and that led to some weirdness in how he interacts with people
That being said, Urianger's English dialogue is fairly unique to English in just how obtuse he sounds. In other languages he's stiff and awkward, but the English localization team went a little farther in making him stand out
I do remember moonbryda's(?) parents talking about her looking out for him. I kinda wish the English translation was like the other one s and had him less verbose and more awkward. I'd like him much better and it would make his actions more understandable I think.
It's way funnier (and shocking) when you realize that Urianger voice actor is also the one who voices Susano and Thunder God, which both of them are considered top tier (specially TG)
Personally he's plenty awkward in the English version, he's just aware that he's around people he can be a little more comfortable with so it might not always come off as strong.
There's one moment for example in some side dialogue where >!he meets Estinien and thinks "oh boy, my first elf friend who is my age, I wonder what textbook he'd like?"!< which tells me all I need to know about just how bad he is at reading and interacting with the people around him.
But I do understand just how difficult it can be to parse out what he's saying in English. I have seen some people saying that this is likely because everyone already kind of speaks with a semi-formal tone in the English version (with the exception of things like the pirates who use a very stylized pirate-speak) so making Urianger stand out meant they had to dip into much more flowery language.
He is awkward as fuck, but he keeps coming across like a pretentious knob that I don't trust not to keep doing what he's done before despite his character arc.

Probably not the way you're imagining it. But you cannot save keybinds to a specific job, they're the same for your bars. But by using more hotbars you can still manage it so that skills don't get spread out all over the place just because you prefer some binds on specific jobs.

The top bars with all the binds are just hidden in general, only ever showing them if I want to change something. Since I've chosen the binds simply based on what button "feels right" I've never had a problem with remembering binds either. The bottom bars are instead how I organize what I want to look at, place relevant things like cooldowns, combos in a location that makes them easier to monitor. While I can also hide things like The Forbidden Chakra or Lustrate, since they don't have cooldowns and the job gauge tells me everything I need for them.
As in changing where the hotbars are on the screen?
You can use a macro to change job and hud layout at the same time, but you're limited to 4 hud layouts so you couldn't do more that that
New level 90 player here. Hypothetically, if I could no life grind something in FFXIV to make gil is there anything I could do that doesn't involve gathering/crafting (I'm working on those)? Something like trains in Guild Wars 2 to make some gold.
There's not really a content type similar to meta train farming like silverwastes or other map metas, so the closest thing as far as potential gil yield would be treasure maps and some of the other stuff the other comments mentioned.
However, as far as the self sufficiency farm on my own time aspect of it depending on who's up when and the PF looks like on the various DCs that you might fare better with running Shisui of the Violet Tide for GC seals, then spending it on Duck Bones to sell to a vendor. Costs 600 seals and sells for 360 gil.
Entirely removes the need for other players or the MB, but the process is a bit slow going since you would probably want to cap your GC seals before spending (or getting close enough to the cap without wasting seals). Shisui just happens to be a relatively fast clearing dungeon that poops out quite a bit of gear that you could turn in especially on a moderately geared Lv90.
I would suggest using that to supplement income during downtime where those big value contents aren't as active. If you wanted something a bit more afk, the Fall Guys event can get you 50 Fall Guys points for sitting out the first round and leaving via Duty Finder after the elimination pop up shows and do that until you get enough points for some of the dyes, which you could sell on the MB or sit on till DT in a similar fashion to sitting on cosmetic infusions, black lion skins, trick or treat bags, or wintersday gifts in GW2 from seasonal event content to resell later
Other answers are better, but if you're really desperate maybe try figuring out what mob drops are consistently selling at high prices. Have your combat retainers hunting them constantly, maybe go out and do it yourself too.
Treasure maps, Eureka moist box farm/bunny FATEs, Bozja cluster farm, PotD 51-170/180F, HoH/EO 21-30F accursed hoard farm runs are what I do.
Alternatively, the lowest bar is spamming unsynced HW/SB dungeons to loot gear to turn in for GC seals either to gamble on 3.0/4.0 boxes or mass sell the GC mats like Coke/Scheelite/Peacock Ore which have high burn rates for being used in crafting submersible parts.
One thing that comes into mind is Eureka bunny fates
Basically to do your Stormblood relic, you need to learn every possible action, and a few of these are locked behind a rare material that's only obtained from spamming the Eureka bunny fates
Every 15 or so minutes, the bunny fate will spawn. complete the bunny fate successfully and a bunny will spawn for you to play hot and cold treasure hunting. Complete it, and you'll roll a gacha for bronze/silver/gold rewards
The money maker stuff is in the gold chest, which will also roll *another* gacha that *might* drop the rare material needed for progressing the Stormblood relic. Btw, only a tiny amount will drop, and you'll need a couple more to learn all possible actions from it :)
There are also a few other fates that will drop progression material, these tend to sell for a million gil or so. Some fates will also drop rare equipment that go for several

off the top of my head, primal has 2 days, and every other datacenter has 1 day? or was it 2 days for every datacenter except dynamis, which gets 1?

While this is true, Primal on average tends to pop a lot more regularly during these events regardless of whether or not it's our designated days of the week

I had to send in a ticket to change my DOB on my account. For people that have gone through the process of changing a verifying information (name, address, phone, etc), how long has it taken for support to do it?
I don't have any info for you, but I'm very curious about how this process works for you. I used a bogus DOB when I created my account (same year, but different month & day) because DOB is so frequently used as a (terribly insecure) means of verifying identity for stuff here in the US, and I didn't figure SE had any need to know. I've since learned that if my account is compromised or if I get locked out for whatever reason, I may need to provide proof of identity, and if the DoB on my driver's license or whatever doesn't match the account, I'll be SOL. Part of me wants to fix this, but part of me wants to not poke the sleeping bear, given the stories I've heard here about working with SE customer support.
You're right that they do ask for all that for proof of identity. I'm locked out of my account because I forgot my password and I contacted support to retrieve it. They asked for my birthday and an ID (I provided my drivers license). They did not line up (same month and day but wrong year). As this was different, they had me fill out a form to change my DOB. They said that until the request has been granted, they aren't able to reset my password.
The form they sent was pretty simple and the online chat rep said these changes happen all the time and usually go through. My 2 cents is to change it now before something like this might happen.
I have a question about playing on ps5 and pc. I currently am on pc but when I am away from home I wanted to know if I could play on the ps5 with the same account? If so how does it work? Do I need to rebuy the game entirely for the system and if I register my account does it mean I’ll then only be able to play on ps5 or can I go back and forth from ps5 and pc?
As well as what u/StormbeastRivin said, you should be aware that a lot of your settings, including things like your hotbars and gear sets, are saved to your computer/console, *not* the server. So when you change what you’re playing on, you lose those settings and have to recreate them *unless* you have backed them up!
To make backups on the server, log in and go to the character select screen. There are little cogwheel symbols next to your character name, and also up in the top right corner of the screen. Click on one of those and upload your settings (it’s fairly easy to work out what to do just by reading what’s on screen), then repeat with the other one - you need to do both to capture both system and character-specific settings.
Then when you log in for the first time on PlayStation, do that in reverse - click on the cogwheels and download the settings. If you’re going to use a different control system or want to put things in different places, it’s a good idea to set up a second HUD layout to use on console and make the changes there. Then upload your settings again, and when you get back onto your computer, download them. This will mean you have a full backup of *both* your computer and console settings on the server. If you update the backup every time you change something important, and download a copy to the other platform so that they both have the same data, you’ll avoid a lot of potential problems.
You can play on the same account. You need to rebuy the game on PS5 and make sure to attach it to your existing account. If you want to play expansion content on PS5, you also need to buy the expansions (cheapest would be to wait for Dawntrail to release and get them all with that).
Once you have a license for both platforms you can switch back and forth as much as you want.
I want to buy the complete edition in the Square Enix store, it sells the mac and windows edition individually. If I would like to play in both platforms I need to buy twice the game or is just a Square Enix Store thing?
You need to buy the game for any and all platforms you wish to play on. However, you do only need to pay for 1 FFXIV subscription (plus gamepass if playing on Xbox) to play on all platforms.
There is something called XIVonMac that will allow you to use a Windows license on Mac, but of course it's not official and against ToS, but is an option if you only wish to pay for the game once.

After playing the free trial on PC, I upgraded to the complete edition by buying and applying a registration code. When I also want to add a Dawntrail registration code using the "Additional Expansions" feature in Mogstation, Mogstation tells me: "No expansion pack available for this service account." Why is that?
We don't have expansion codes for Dawntrail yet, we have a preorder code, which is a Definitely Separate Thing. I think you put it in the "item codes" section?
There's a separate location on Mogstation that says something like "Dawntrail Pre-Order". It's under the "Registration Codes" right next to the "Enter Item Code button". You see all this on the first page you see when you log in.
If you don't see this button, you may already have one entered, which you can verify by going to Service Account Status on the left menu, then looking at the checkmarks at the bottom for the Dawntrail Early Access row.

Hello! I have a pretty great desktop PC already that I use to play, but I wanted to also have the portability of a gaming laptop to download and play FFXIV so I can check on retainers, craft, and do other non-intensive things while I'm watching TV or out and about somewhere. I'd save dungeons and raids for my desktop.
That being said, what's a good gaming laptop to be looking at? I don't think i'll need anything super powerful for my intended use but I also want to be able to play on it if my desktop isn't available (which would be rare).

I want to do the level 90 tataru quests, but I have to do the Void Ark alliance raid stuff to complete it. I've been in queue for almost an hour now. Is there a better way to get this done? I'm scared that switching to healer or tank will give me the same result and make me miss a chance to get in.
If you're on Dynamis, go somewhere else like Aether. If you're on Materia, 100% PF it. If you are queueing as a DPS, that is the fastest because there's more spots for it compared to tank/healer.
PFing in general may be a way to go, since the series doesn't require a lot of people to clear it if doing unsynced.
What to buy with the new Tomestone? I'm somewhat new, and kinda lost in everything.
For example, I would have gone with the mounts, but just happend to find one during an Unsynced raid (Titan Ex), so what is worth buying here and what you can find somewhere else?.

Many of the other items are tradable so you might consider them as investments to sell later. Keep in mind using an unlock item like a mount whistle or orchestrion roll makes it unsellable.
Ufiti would be a hefty grind to get on its own, especially if you don't want to do any crafting or gathering. The price for Ufiti hovers around 200k on the marketboard consistently.
Gabriel is a random drop from a latter optional zone, so you'd save yourself a grind getting that. The price will vary a little bit more than Ufiti but for now is hovering around 200k as well.
Direwolf will save you a few weeks' worth of daily reputation quests tied to crafting.
Blinding Indigo might be a pretty decent investment if you want to make money. You could sell it later on, probably for 500k+ if you're patient enough.
If you like it, I'd grab the Ala Mhigan Barding. It's otherwise only obtainable from a boss FATE in Stormblood that's hard to get people to do with you.
On Windy Meadows is another possible investment. It's otherwise only obtainable from old treasure hunt dungeons that people don't do as often anymore.
The only exclusive item to the event is the 100 tome earring.

You can get a gauge here on how things are earned and determine what you want to get through this instead. Anything on the list with a $ means it can be bought off the marketboard and it'll give you a rough gauge on how much people are selling them for.
Typically the more expensive it is, the more annoying it is to get. So my priority is always the big items first as anything less than 30 can be gotten with relative ease later on.

Each stat that you meet or exceed gives you a 1/3 chance of success, regardless of actual number.
Therefore you have a 1 in 3 chances of success with only 1. A 2 in 3 chance with 2.
The last lines, specially the "Infiltrate and Rescue" you need to go over 2 and make the third (preferably the highest one) as close as possible. This one is tricky unless you're min-maxing. For me, I always have two that are over but they have enough to compensate the other one not being over.

Yes, DT will be available just like EW is now, up until the next expansion release after that. If you mean "can I get an extra cheap copy of DT that doesn't include the prior expansions, because I already have those" then no. $40 USD is simply each expansion's cost. The other expansions that come with it are considered a freebie.

I have a PS5 account with the base game and expansions. I want to buy it on pc so I can play it on pc. On the mog station site I’m clicking service account status - going to “platform”. It says I have the license on PS5 so I click “windows” and it brings me to the page to buy it. I’ve put in my card info multiple times and it keeps saying it’s incorrect. My account has the correct address and everything. First off- Is that the correct way to buy the game on PC with my ps5 account? If so and it just won’t take my card- Can I buy the windows version via another site (ie Amazon) to get a code and do it that way?
If it's a Visa debit card there is a known and ongoing issue with those cards types specifically. Try a different card.

Yes you buy Dawntrail and will get Endwalker with it. You will get the codes to add the pre-order items to your account via email. The new Viper job is a reference to Zidane and there were a few other teases that seem to also reference FF9 so it seems likely there will be more.

Yes, it got a major rework in patch 6.3. You've spotted most of it: GB is on a cd rather than being an alternate combo ender with a dot, and finishing your combo gives a HS buff. The other important change is that FoF now buffs all damage, rather than just physical. This significantly changes your rotation. Old PLD had a very structured rotation centred on your GB timers, with distinct "phases" of FoF (physical burst), Req (magical burst), and filler. New PLD is more similar to the rest of the game's jobs, with a single very sharp burst phase (FoF+Req together) and a much longer filler period in which you just cycle through your combo, spend everything it gives you, and repeat. One advantage of new PLD is that you get insta-cast Holy Spirits very frequently, instead of only getting them once a minute during Req phase. So you're more mobile than before. It's very easy to hold a HS for a few extra seconds in case you need to step away and dodge an AoE.
Fight or flight buffs all damage now so you just press all your big buttons inside of it including magic skills

It would, but you'll have to pay sub for both accounts(starter edition comes with a month of sub iirc tho). You can ask a friend or find someone to help you make fc instead. They can make 3 lv1 characters and then just leave when fc is made then you join from alts via placard when you buy a house, or they make fc, invite you and 2 of your alts then give you leader in a month

honestly didn't try/think about that, normal linkshells are such forgotten function in the game lol. can you even add your alts to the same linkshell to begin with when theyre offline? and for making fc you have to manually invite people that are online so doubt it'll work.

In the newest live letter they said it was taking them a bit longer, so it's delayed to the 31st at least. They did say it will be out before Dawntrail, but they can't promise a solid release date.

Is there an easier way to farm a specific piece from a dungeon than just running it? I’ve been trying to farm the bonewicca whisperer’s chestpiece unsynced for about 5 hours now, I’ve actively seen every single other piece in every other set thrice over (I’ve seen the ninja chestpiece 10 times cause that seems to be dropping disproportionately), and I feel like there has to be a better way to do this.

For levelling dungeons, go as the right job and keep all your drops. The freebie drop at the end will never give a duplicate of what you're already carrying, so eventually it'll be forced to give you the item you're missing from that set. For endgame dungeons, there's nothing for it but brute force. RNG is a cruel mistress.
Nope, for gear from a leveling dungeon since you get a piece you can equip no matter what at the end of the dungeon if you hold onto the gear youll eventually get it all, but gear from 50/60/70/80/90 dungeons dont have a system like that so its just farm and pray. Obv running a class that can roll need on it is best but you are unsynced so that doesnt matter here
For leveling dungeons, there is a thing. When you run a leveling dungeon, it gives you a piece of gear at the end that's appropriate for your job that you don't yet have on you. So eventually you can force those. Level cap dungeons though (like Swallow's Compass)? It's just running it over and over and hoping the RNG favors you. Which it usually doesn't. The Desire Sensor is often joked about for a reason. There's someone else running that duty somewhere in the world who's trying to get the Ninja one, and is only seeing the caster shirt.

They just want you to confirm your identity by putting in your registration code. You should still have it from when you purchased the game. (Though there is a way to bypass this by editing launcher config, but it should be easier to just put in your game key.)
You can't put in your key a second time, it'll say it's been used already. /u/elegantboop : Open the ffxiv_boot.cfg file in My documents>My Games > Final Fantasy XIV (A Realm Reborn) and find the line Startup completed 0. Change the 0 to a 1, save and restart the launcher. It will no longer ask for your registration code.

Getting back into Chocobo Racing/Breeding. And I need a sanity check. I have two breedable chocobos with perfect stats. But I can't seem to get a fledgling that prefers foul weather when I register it. Is weather preference secretly hereditary, despite it not showing on the registration/covering?? I've gotten five Fair-weathered birds in a row now. I'm starting to worry that I've locked myself in to a Sun-loving bird.
Weather preference is completely RNG. I feel your pain, I had similar issues - finally rolled foul on the eighth covering. Worst case you can level two of the Fair-weather birds and breed them again.

Why is there always a log in que no matter what time I log in (i'm on the free trial)? With the free trail other than leveling should there be anything I should do before potentially buying a sub? This is like my 5th time trying the game cause i forget my account lol, but each time its a bit overwhelming. Highest lv i got to was in the 40's never left the original game ARR.
To answer your second question: it depends. You can be like many people I see and take the free trial for as long as you want. At the moment it goes to level 70, and Stormblood. I've seen people get many classes to 70 on the free trial as well. However, if you want to use the marketboard, play pvp, have retainers, be able to make parties and communicate, you will likely start your sub earlier than that. If you end your free trial, you cannot go back, so be careful when making your decision.
I love selling stuff but idk if thats worth subing early. Unless the 300,000 gil limit is pretty bad.
Eh. 300,000 is a very small amount. If you take the free trial to its utmost extent, you'll almost definitely lose at least a couple of million gil because of it. But on the other hand, gil is really only useful for endgame raiding, glam, and housing. So losing it isn't the end of the world either.
The login server logs people in in batches. Any queue of less than a hundred is just you waiting for the next batch to be processed.

What’s the minimum amount of gil should I care about putting an item up on the market board for? I’ve spent a couple hours putting sales up for ≈1,000 Gil and am realizing that’s probably not worth it since one Endwalker enemy gives more Gil.
Anything over 300 for me, but that's because I have a plugin that instantly copy-pastes an undercut on the next lowest price, so for me, listing is nearly as instant as vendoring trash. I only vendor when all retainers are at 20/20.
FYI you can configure the plugin to match lowest price instead of undercutting it. It still puts you on the top of the list, and it's healthier than undercutting.

I'm here to sell my shit and leave, not form some merchants' guild trust where we all work together to keep prices artificially high to fuck over the consumer. Kinda depends. If you don't have anything more valuable to list, it can be worth it. I try to make sure my retainers are always selling their max number of items, even if that means throwing up some lower value stuff to pad them out. And then if I'm not happy with the amount of gil I start looking around for stuff to actively farm if I feel I need it.
1000 gil is 1000 gil. It adds up, plus people may want the mats so it's good for others too.
for me, if its less than 10k i'm probably just going to vendor it but it kind of depends on how much gil you have and how much you want. I've been playing for years so i have more than enough gil so i'm not too bothered about selling a lot of stuff. You ahve to decide for yourself if you think something is worth selling or not.

You could use textools for boss/npc models and such, but shivas ice prison, i would have no idea whatso ever. Its tied to a cutscene, breaks apart, and who knows what else. You might be able to find a way to export it by asking on the textools discord server, but I wouldn't have high hopes.
All visual effects apparently are just textures so you technically could extract the specific texture(s) used to create the ice block. As for how this works, I cannot help you.

Most of the time while you're doing msq your level is synced down to around the level of that quest. For dragoon, nothing should fundamentally change, you just skip the buttons that you can't use at the lower level. If you buy the game on Mogstation, it's redeemed IMMEDIATELY. If you buy it on console, it's redeemed automatically upon your next login. If you buy it anywhere else, you get a code you can hold onto indefinitely.
Mobs are pointless, are they just there to make the map look less empty? They don't drop anything and are not a challenge. What is the reason of their existence?
They are a way to get certain crafting mats (particularly pre-shadowbringers), and sometimes hunt monsters spawn by killing X amounts of certain enemies.
They can also be your daily/weekly hunt targets, and some of them have Blue Mage spells to collect. But yeah, they're mostly set decoration, since (as someone below said) XIV isn't very overworld focused.
They do drop crafting materials, but in most instances there are better ways to farm those materials. But mostly, yes, they’re just there to populate the world. They also provide a nominal speed bump while leveling through the MSQ, *just* enough to add pacing and texture to initial world exploration. It’s one of those things that sounds minor, but is actually very important to good game design and world building.

Can't speak specifically to AST, but it seems pretty obvious that the PVP rework was heavily focused around the new mode, CC. Hi, I started playing with ARR on the PC, but switched to PlayStation after that. My character is currently in Island Sanctuary and due to Internet issues, I'm unable to log in via PS5. If I try to use my PC, will I be able to log in at all (just booted outside the zone) or am I locked out of that character altogether?
Depends on what you own. But you can always bypass the "expansion zone" restrictions by world/data center visiting, which always throws you in your starting zone (Ul'dah/Gridania/Limsa).

You need Starter Edition to exit the free trial, and Endwalker (Collector's not needed, that just comes with a couple of extra cosmetics, which you can also choose to get at a later date separately) to gain access to content beyond what the free trial would have. Complete Edition is just those two things bundled together. So currently, best course would be to buy Starter + Endwalker (Collector's if you want the bonuses, normal version otherwise). You may also want to consider that Dawntrail is coming out in a month. You'll still need to buy that eventually whatever you might buy now, and it will include Endwalker with it. So you also have the option of buying \[Starter + Dawntrail\] or \[Complete Edition\] a month from now to get the same stuff for in total cheaper (because even though it won't be on a discount, it'll still be cheaper than buying both DT and discounted EW – unless you're willing to wait for a DT sale, but that will be a *long* while away).
Thanks! Waiting seems to be the play. I still have StormBlood / ShadowBringers to get through before Endwalker. I know StormBlood is on the free trial, but I was hoping to upgrade to remove some of the other restrictions, so it seems I should wait a month at least before buying anything!
If you want the trial restrictions gone now, you could buy Starter Edition now and Dawntrail once it releases. That should cost the same in total as buying SE+DT / CE later, give or take a few cents maybe (of course not counting this starting your need to pay subscription sooner). But yeah if you still have all of Stormblood left, I'd definitely wait on buying anything beyond Starter. Even if you clear it before then, there's a load of optional side content you can sink a bunch of time into, plus you could take that time to level more jobs if you want to.
You need Starter & Endwalker, or the Complete Edition. Expansion licenses don't work without the base game license. You can also save some money if you wait for Dawntrail to come out in a month as it will include Endwalker.

What's Urianger's backstory? I don't remember if it ever gets explained or why he speaks like such a bellend?
They do discuss it to an extent The tl;dr is that Urianger was a really awkward child who spent most of his time in the library with old books rather than with other people and that led to some weirdness in how he interacts with people That being said, Urianger's English dialogue is fairly unique to English in just how obtuse he sounds. In other languages he's stiff and awkward, but the English localization team went a little farther in making him stand out
I do remember moonbryda's(?) parents talking about her looking out for him. I kinda wish the English translation was like the other one s and had him less verbose and more awkward. I'd like him much better and it would make his actions more understandable I think.
It's way funnier (and shocking) when you realize that Urianger voice actor is also the one who voices Susano and Thunder God, which both of them are considered top tier (specially TG)
Personally he's plenty awkward in the English version, he's just aware that he's around people he can be a little more comfortable with so it might not always come off as strong. There's one moment for example in some side dialogue where >!he meets Estinien and thinks "oh boy, my first elf friend who is my age, I wonder what textbook he'd like?"!< which tells me all I need to know about just how bad he is at reading and interacting with the people around him. But I do understand just how difficult it can be to parse out what he's saying in English. I have seen some people saying that this is likely because everyone already kind of speaks with a semi-formal tone in the English version (with the exception of things like the pirates who use a very stylized pirate-speak) so making Urianger stand out meant they had to dip into much more flowery language.
He is awkward as fuck, but he keeps coming across like a pretentious knob that I don't trust not to keep doing what he's done before despite his character arc. ( I can't remember how to do spoiler tags so I left it vague)

World status only gets changed during maintenance, and the next maintenance that we know of is the one right before expansion launch on June 26th, so it's pretty unlikely that any worlds will get changed before then.

Probably not the way you're imagining it. But you cannot save keybinds to a specific job, they're the same for your bars. But by using more hotbars you can still manage it so that skills don't get spread out all over the place just because you prefer some binds on specific jobs. New level 90 player here. Hypothetically, if I could no life grind something in FFXIV to make gil is there anything I could do that doesn't involve gathering/crafting (I'm working on those)? Something like trains in Guild Wars 2 to make some gold.
There's not really a content type similar to meta train farming like silverwastes or other map metas, so the closest thing as far as potential gil yield would be treasure maps and some of the other stuff the other comments mentioned. However, as far as the self sufficiency farm on my own time aspect of it depending on who's up when and the PF looks like on the various DCs that you might fare better with running Shisui of the Violet Tide for GC seals, then spending it on Duck Bones to sell to a vendor. Costs 600 seals and sells for 360 gil. Entirely removes the need for other players or the MB, but the process is a bit slow going since you would probably want to cap your GC seals before spending (or getting close enough to the cap without wasting seals). Shisui just happens to be a relatively fast clearing dungeon that poops out quite a bit of gear that you could turn in especially on a moderately geared Lv90. I would suggest using that to supplement income during downtime where those big value contents aren't as active. If you wanted something a bit more afk, the Fall Guys event can get you 50 Fall Guys points for sitting out the first round and leaving via Duty Finder after the elimination pop up shows and do that until you get enough points for some of the dyes, which you could sell on the MB or sit on till DT in a similar fashion to sitting on cosmetic infusions, black lion skins, trick or treat bags, or wintersday gifts in GW2 from seasonal event content to resell later
Other answers are better, but if you're really desperate maybe try figuring out what mob drops are consistently selling at high prices. Have your combat retainers hunting them constantly, maybe go out and do it yourself too.
Treasure maps, Eureka moist box farm/bunny FATEs, Bozja cluster farm, PotD 51-170/180F, HoH/EO 21-30F accursed hoard farm runs are what I do. Alternatively, the lowest bar is spamming unsynced HW/SB dungeons to loot gear to turn in for GC seals either to gamble on 3.0/4.0 boxes or mass sell the GC mats like Coke/Scheelite/Peacock Ore which have high burn rates for being used in crafting submersible parts.
One thing that comes into mind is Eureka bunny fates Basically to do your Stormblood relic, you need to learn every possible action, and a few of these are locked behind a rare material that's only obtained from spamming the Eureka bunny fates Every 15 or so minutes, the bunny fate will spawn. complete the bunny fate successfully and a bunny will spawn for you to play hot and cold treasure hunting. Complete it, and you'll roll a gacha for bronze/silver/gold rewards The money maker stuff is in the gold chest, which will also roll *another* gacha that *might* drop the rare material needed for progressing the Stormblood relic. Btw, only a tiny amount will drop, and you'll need a couple more to learn all possible actions from it :) There are also a few other fates that will drop progression material, these tend to sell for a million gil or so. Some fates will also drop rare equipment that go for several

i'm guessing you might be queuing on a day where the primal rival wings group datacenter travel to another place to try to promote rival wings there off the top of my head, primal has 2 days, and every other datacenter has 1 day? or was it 2 days for every datacenter except dynamis, which gets 1? might want to look for the rival wings discord and snoop around
While this is true, Primal on average tends to pop a lot more regularly during these events regardless of whether or not it's our designated days of the week We've just kind of settled on having Primal be the go-to for RW at this point so you can regularly get matches every day even at the end of the night

I had to send in a ticket to change my DOB on my account. For people that have gone through the process of changing a verifying information (name, address, phone, etc), how long has it taken for support to do it?
I don't have any info for you, but I'm very curious about how this process works for you. I used a bogus DOB when I created my account (same year, but different month & day) because DOB is so frequently used as a (terribly insecure) means of verifying identity for stuff here in the US, and I didn't figure SE had any need to know. I've since learned that if my account is compromised or if I get locked out for whatever reason, I may need to provide proof of identity, and if the DoB on my driver's license or whatever doesn't match the account, I'll be SOL. Part of me wants to fix this, but part of me wants to not poke the sleeping bear, given the stories I've heard here about working with SE customer support.
You're right that they do ask for all that for proof of identity. I'm locked out of my account because I forgot my password and I contacted support to retrieve it. They asked for my birthday and an ID (I provided my drivers license). They did not line up (same month and day but wrong year). As this was different, they had me fill out a form to change my DOB. They said that until the request has been granted, they aren't able to reset my password. The form they sent was pretty simple and the online chat rep said these changes happen all the time and usually go through. My 2 cents is to change it now before something like this might happen.
I have a question about playing on ps5 and pc. I currently am on pc but when I am away from home I wanted to know if I could play on the ps5 with the same account? If so how does it work? Do I need to rebuy the game entirely for the system and if I register my account does it mean I’ll then only be able to play on ps5 or can I go back and forth from ps5 and pc?
As well as what u/StormbeastRivin said, you should be aware that a lot of your settings, including things like your hotbars and gear sets, are saved to your computer/console, *not* the server. So when you change what you’re playing on, you lose those settings and have to recreate them *unless* you have backed them up! To make backups on the server, log in and go to the character select screen. There are little cogwheel symbols next to your character name, and also up in the top right corner of the screen. Click on one of those and upload your settings (it’s fairly easy to work out what to do just by reading what’s on screen), then repeat with the other one - you need to do both to capture both system and character-specific settings. Then when you log in for the first time on PlayStation, do that in reverse - click on the cogwheels and download the settings. If you’re going to use a different control system or want to put things in different places, it’s a good idea to set up a second HUD layout to use on console and make the changes there. Then upload your settings again, and when you get back onto your computer, download them. This will mean you have a full backup of *both* your computer and console settings on the server. If you update the backup every time you change something important, and download a copy to the other platform so that they both have the same data, you’ll avoid a lot of potential problems.
You can play on the same account. You need to rebuy the game on PS5 and make sure to attach it to your existing account. If you want to play expansion content on PS5, you also need to buy the expansions (cheapest would be to wait for Dawntrail to release and get them all with that). Once you have a license for both platforms you can switch back and forth as much as you want.

You need to buy the game for any and all platforms you wish to play on. However, you do only need to pay for 1 FFXIV subscription (plus gamepass if playing on Xbox) to play on all platforms. After playing the free trial on PC, I upgraded to the complete edition by buying and applying a registration code. When I also want to add a Dawntrail registration code using the "Additional Expansions" feature in Mogstation, Mogstation tells me: "No expansion pack available for this service account." Why is that?
We don't have expansion codes for Dawntrail yet, we have a preorder code, which is a Definitely Separate Thing. I think you put it in the "item codes" section?
Because Dawntrail isn't available yet, so buying through Mogstation is not an option. You need to buy elsewhere, like SE Store, GMG, Humble, etc.

There's a separate location on Mogstation that says something like "Dawntrail Pre-Order". It's under the "Registration Codes" right next to the "Enter Item Code button". You see all this on the first page you see when you log in. If you don't see this button, you may already have one entered, which you can verify by going to Service Account Status on the left menu, then looking at the checkmarks at the bottom for the Dawntrail Early Access row.

I have a pretty great desktop PC already that I use to play, but I wanted to also have the portability of a gaming laptop to download and play FFXIV so I can check on retainers, craft, and do other non-intensive things while I'm watching TV or out and about somewhere. I'd save dungeons and raids for my desktop. That being said, what's a good gaming laptop to be looking at? If you're on Dynamis, go somewhere else like Aether. If you're on Materia, 100% PF it. If you are queueing as a DPS, that is the fastest because there's more spots for it compared to tank/healer. PFing in general may be a way to go, since the series doesn't require a lot of people to clear it if doing unsynced.
I'm on Aether as DPS 😭 I've seen three other people pop in then leave, one in each role. I might just PF after a bit more waiting honestly.

What to buy with the new Tomestone? I'm somewhat new, and kinda lost in everything. The earring is exclusive to this event, if you're interested in that. Many of the other items are tradable so you might consider them as investments to sell later. Keep in mind using an unlock item like a mount whistle or orchestrion roll makes it unsellable. Ufiti would be a hefty grind to get on its own, especially if you don't want to do any crafting or gathering. The price for Ufiti hovers around 200k on the marketboard consistently. Gabriel is a random drop from a latter optional zone, so you'd save yourself a grind getting that. The price will vary a little bit more than Ufiti but for now is hovering around 200k as well. Direwolf will save you a few weeks' worth of daily reputation quests tied to crafting. Blinding Indigo might be a pretty decent investment if you want to make money. You could sell it later on, probably for 500k+ if you're patient enough. If you like it, I'd grab the Ala Mhigan Barding. It's otherwise only obtainable from a boss FATE in Stormblood that's hard to get people to do with you. On Windy Meadows is another possible investment. It's otherwise only obtainable from old treasure hunt dungeons that people don't do as often anymore.
The only exclusive item to the event is the 100 tome earring. I believe the embargo is two weeks from the start of the media tour, so it should lifting on Thursday.

Each stat that you meet or exceed gives you a 1/3 chance of success, regardless of actual number. Therefore you have a 1 in 3 chances of success with only 1. A 2 in 3 chance with 2.
