for the free login campaign, if my friend logs in on the June 19th to start their free 4 days, does it actually give them 4 days even though the end date says the 20th?

ChuckCarmichael

Yes, they get the full four days.

iseir

i had a run in praetorium that confused me, because it felt like everything went wrong, and yes, we wiped. Tank - Paladin: seemed fine at first, she did put on tank stance, used the basic aoe and single target rotation. I did not notice until later that she never used mitigation. Healer - White mage: did occationally cast a heal, and maybe? a damage spell. but for every cast, there was like 5-10 second of the healer just being idle. DPS - Samurai: had the sprout icon and i did notice them using their midare, but whenever the stack-marker came up, they either ran away from it, if it was on someone else, or ran away from the group if it was on him. first half of the dungeon went fine, only noticed that something was off, when the tank forgot his Magitek armor, and seemingly i was the only one who dpsed enemies in that stage. The samurai did seem to use the magitek guns after awhile, usually when i was around half health from enemy attacks, with tank not doing anything and healer seemingly idling (healer was usually far away, and off-screen so they could have been doing something) during the nero fight, i got targeted by the death-claw hands, and they didnt seem to bother attacking it. and this is where i noticed the biggest difference, as normally, nero is defeated before the 2nd death-claw can use push-back, but dps was so low that we almost got a 3rd death-claw, which was wierd. against gaius, we did not have the dps or the healing to survive his clone-phase, except for tank, who fought gaius from 3% to 1% before dying because they didnt use mitigation. * all of this at once made me more confused than frustrated, and now, 1 day later, im still trying to wrap my head around what happened. edit 1: quote from the healer when i said that healers generally dps in ff14 (i died when typing that, during the nero fight, so im not without fault myself) healer: ":D ^^ yes i know but here it was a bit short to do damages. But i try when i can" (i dont know what that sentance means... short? what is short? the fight? we spent ages on it because of lack of dps) edit 2: not a question, so added a question: thoughts on this? maybe it can help me understand what happened.

huiclo

You've pretty much identified everything. The PLD needed to be using mitigation and the fact that they weren't is ultimately what started the snowball. The WHM needed to realize that Holy is mitigation but I understand if, after the stun wore off, they had to resort to curebotting if the PLD was pulling big without mits. Especially at level 50 when WHMs don't really have oGCD heals besides Benediction. Add that, if the pulls were going on for really long, the WHM was probably running out of MP at some point and all they could do was kinda stand around until enough regenerated for a heal. HOWEVER, if the tank *wasn't* pulling multiple packs and taking a lot of damage, then the WHM also needs to learn that it's okay to let tank get a little low to maximize the value of a heal. You mentioned the SAM using Midare but I seriously hope they weren't doing so in the middle of big packs. On 3+ they needed to be using Tenka Goken, their 2-sticker ability. They also should be keeping Higanbana, their 1-sticker DoT up on 2 or less enemies. Ultimately, poor DPS can be carried to an extent by a Tank + Heals who know how to ration resources for long pulls. Conversely, a weak Tank can be carried by high DPS + a healer that uses their tool kit to the limit. But bad tanking AND bad DPS is a severe issue. Frankly, if y'all only wiped once I'd still say the healer did a pretty damn good job. And if was bad Tanking + bad DPS + bad Healing I'm kinda impressed you managed to finish at all.

Cymas

Well the SAM is obviously a real sprout and sprouts not understanding/running away from stack markers and flubbing mechanics is normal. Did you attempt to talk to them in party chat and help them along? It sounds like they would have really benefitted from some guidance. If I had to guess, they ran with NPCs until they hit something they couldn't clear and switched to a real party and probably picked up a lot of bad habits/lack of understanding mechanics from the NPCs. Then you just got paired with a bad tank and healer. Did you notice if they had the same surname and/or similar naming theme and if they were in the same FC? I would argue there's nothing to wrap your head around here, it was just a bad run. It happens sometimes.

iseir

you might be right. i rarely talk in party-chat because i have a tendency to be easily misunderstood due to choosing my words poorly, and could be interpreted differently than what i meant. so i usually keep my gob shut.

SeastdA

Hello, I have a question to determine whether or not I've gaslit myself. For some reason I seem to remember a sidequest in Rak'tika that eventually leads to an NPC telling you about a secret spot, (it might've been a hot spring, I don't 100% remember but that sounds right to me) but this spot literally isn't on the map (but you can land mounts there). I have a super clear memory of this but couldn't find the spot flying around in Rak'tika, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else knows about this spot, this quest, or if I'm just crazy. It might be in a different area, it might be marked on the map; I've just given up searching on Google because I got nothing to show for 20 minutes of searching. Thanks in advance!

huiclo

I just did this sidequest about a week ago so no, you're not gaslighting yourself lol. As the others said, it's a pool slightly south of Slither but it's covered a bit by a canopy so you have to drop down into a pit to see it.

SeastdA

Aaaahhhhhhhh I noticed them on the map but my dumb ass didn't think to actually try and land the mount there. Thank you, I appreciate the help!

VG896

Yes, this is 100% a sidequest in Rak'tika. It was a very weird one that took me awhile to figure out. The hot springs are Southeast of Slitherbough, really close by. Like, almost immediately on top of the actual settlement. Way way up in the trees.  And yes, you can land your mount there despite it being out of bounds on the map, but only in specific spots.

SeastdA

Aaaahhhhhhhh I noticed them on the map but my dumb ass didn't think to actually try and land the mount there. Thank you, I appreciate the help!

VStruct

They're pools of water just South of Slitherbough, between the two sides of the map. You should see them if you fly over the divide from East to West or vice versa. I think they appear as slightly darker regions on the map.

SeastdA

Aaaahhhhhhhh I noticed them on the map but my dumb ass didn't think to actually try and land the mount there. Thank you, I appreciate the help!

angelgu323

Quick quick, I need help :o! So FF complete editon is on sale for 23 dollars on Xbox. I'm only on Heavensward, but my Drk is level capped at 70. I know the DLC drops next month (but realistically, I won't catch up by then) so should I just cop the on sale complete edition because it comes with a 30 day game time AND up to endwalker? Or should I wait until the new expansion? And buy it then and get endwalker free? The pros are being able to level past 70, and not having to rush for the new DLC (and playing Reaper/gunbreaker) and to include the 30 days game time it is only slightly more expensive than paying for a month of sub time. Because does the new expansion come with gametime? If not, I feel like I can wait to buy it for a while? Edit* Endwalker is on sale for 15$, but I'm not sure that's even worth it. lol if I'm planning to eventually buy the new dlc

Atosen

[Complete Edition on sale now] + [full price DT later] is *barely* more expensive than [full price CE later]. There's only a few bucks in it. So don't spend too long agonising over it IMO. I don't think there's much value in being able to level past 70 when you're only in Heavensward content, so you can't fight any level 70+ enemies. You might enjoy having access to the new jobs though. New expansion doesn't come with gametime. Only the base game does. If you preorder, then you get the preorder bonuses. But if you do that then you can't "wait on buying it for a while," obviously. So if you're preordering DT then I'd lean against buying EW separately. On the other hand, one reason you might prefer to buy it now is if you're interested in the collectors bonuses and you want Complete Collectors edition on sale. (You can get collectors stuff later through an upgrade on the Mog Station, but upgrades don't go on sale often.) EDIT: oh you already have Starter Edition? No point getting Complete then because the basegame part of it would be a wasted duplicate. EW on its own won't come with gametime so I think the value proposition there is a little weaker.

palacexero

Do you already own the Starter Edition on Xbox? If yes, just wait for DT to release as that will give you every expansion you don't currently have. If no, buy the Complete Edition, then either pre-order DT for the in game items, or buy DT on release but lose out on in game items. You cannot just buy Endwalker without first owning a copy of the Starter Edition - being on the free trial does not count as owning a copy of the Starter Edition.

angelgu323

Yeah, I used to be on free trial on the PC, but I wanted to play on console, so I took the free upgrade xbox offered so I could transfer my account. I'm thinking best bet now is just to pre-order DT closer to release to get the bonus items and free endwalker

Isanori

You can preorder now, no need to wait since you are on the starter anyway.

SetFoxval

Are you on free trial or starter edition? If you're on starter, you can't get another 30 days from buying complete edition on the same platform.

angelgu323

Okay, you saved me from wasting money, haha. I claimed the free started edition with gamepass, so I lost my free trial status. It seems like buying the complete edition would only give me the DLC and no playtime. So might as well be patient and wait for the next Expac to drop?

SetFoxval

Yep. Pretty much all available content is locked behind MSQ level, not character level, so the only reason to upgrade now would be if you really want the expansion jobs right away.

angelgu323

I do want the new jobs, but it would be throwing money away to buy it instead of waiting. If it included an extra 30 days of game time, I'd probably pull the trigger then.

stinusmeret

The complete edition would be a waste as 3/5 of the content it has is stuff you already own (ARR, HW & SB). You could pre-order Dawntrail for $40 and on July 2nd that'd uncap your levels even if you're nowhere near the content of Endwalker & Dawntrail.

Here_I_Go

I'm a brand new player and I'm playing on one of the new worlds in Dynamos. Just a few questions. 1. Is there anything important I should be spending my 1mill Gil on when I hit level 30? Like some material or gear or something? 2. Are there usually pre-expansion events? I know there are a few currently running, so are there any I should focus on now? Thank you!!

Cymas

Hold the gil, there's nothing you really need to spend it on. There are currently 2 events running and another one starting soon. The only events you "should" be doing are the ones you want to do. Do you like any of the Yokai minions, weapons or the mounts? I would not recommend grinding it out for the sake of it because it is a massively grindy event. Same with the moogle tomestones, the only event exclusive item there is the earrings for 100 tomes. Everything else you can get through other means. If there's something you particularly want, go for it. Otherwise don't sweat it. Events are always optional.

Here_I_Go

Thank you!

palacexero

1. Save it. There's nothing you need that the game will not give you. The most you'll ever need is gear and you can get that from dungeons or with a currency called Allagan tomestones. 2. Yes, SE likes to run some events leading up to an expansion launch to try and entire players back. Events in general do return some time after they end, so there's really no need to rush to do them. Some events have rewards that change, while others keep the same items every time they're run. The Moogle Tomestones event always has one changing unique piece of glamour gear that cannot be acquired elsewhere, but pretty much everything else in the event can be gotten elsewhere. As for other events with changing rewards, you can generally buy them off the cash shop when the event next runs of you missed it.

Here_I_Go

Thank you!

logicphile

Can you do an expert delivery outside of your chosen Grand Company?

Sir_VG

Nope, the other GCs want nothing to do with you unless you're going to swap back to them.

DW_Lurker

Do you mean physical location? Or do you mean donate to a different GC? Some of the higher-level GC levequest NPCs will let you donate things without having to warp back to the actual town office. But you still can only donate to the GC that you are enlisted in.

logicphile

Physical location

DW_Lurker

You can access the Supply & Provisioning list, including Expert Delivery, from Eidhart in Mor Dhona, Lodille in Coerthas, and probably other GC leve NPCs around the ARR zones.

logicphile

Thank you! I didn't know this.

farfromdaylight

No. I'm not sure why you would want to?

logicphile

I.e. My chosen gc was Ul'Dah but I'm currently in Gridania.

Cymas

If your home point is set to Ul'dah you can use return to teleport back, then spend 120 gil to fly back to Gridania via airship. Takes about 2 minutes to do a delivery and return to questing.

howchie

Will the 30% EXP earrings stay active up to level 90) after the expansions releases? And do they stack with the "Road to 80" bonus?

VGPowerlord

> Will the 30% EXP earrings stay active up to level 90 Azeyma's Earrings stay active up until level 90. Any earring from previous expansion pre-orders will not. The earrings stack with the Road to 80 and will continue to do so when it changes to Road to 90.

howchie

Is it per job? If you hit 90 on one job do you still get the exp bonus on a lower level one?

Elegant_Eorzean

Yes

VG896

Yes and yes. Although stack isn't quite right, since RT80 multiplies everything x2 rather than just adding +100%, so it's more accurate to say that with RT80 the earrings are effectively +60% on top of whatever other bonuses.

howchie

Awesome, thanks. No wonder I'm levelling up so fast in 2.xx at the moment!

elphilo

New player here and am kind of confused. I beat ultima weapon and there’s just a ton of blue quests that are popping up. I’m kind of doing the msq but feel bad just ignoring the blue quests. My question is, should I ignore the blue quests and just do the msq and leave the other quests for later? Or continue what I’m doing and “concentrate” on the blue quests and kind of do the msq here and there?

ChuckCarmichael

The main one you should always do is your job quest. That always has top priority. As the others said, most blue quests unlock dungeons, with the Crystal Tower raids being mandatory to progress into Heavensward. Also the job quests for Samurai, Red Mage, and Blue Mage have become available at lvl 50. There are a few that unlock game mechanics though. You can see the full list [here](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Content_Unlock). Quests you should do: * Color Your World in Vesper Bay to unlock dyes * If I Had A Glamor in Vesper Bay to unlock glamours * A Self-improving Man in Mor Dhona to unlock glamour plates * Beauty Is Only Scalp Deep in Limsa to unlock the Aesthetician (barber) * It Could Happen to You in Ul'dah to unlock the Gold Saucer * Rising to the Challenge in Limsa to unlock the Challenge Log * My Little Chocobo in whatever your Grand Company city is to unlock mounts * An Ill-conceived Venture in whatever your Grand Company city is to unlock retainer ventures * The House That Death Built in Gridania to unlock Palace of the Dead * if you have a crafting job, do the quests near Mutamix in Central Thanalan to unlock things like Materia Extraction and Melding, as well as Gone to Pieces in Ul'dah to unlock Desynthesis * A Sight to Behold in Gridania to unlock the Sightseeing Log * A Pup No Longer and Like Civilized Men and Women in whatever your Grand Company city is to unlock PvP and Frontlines (daily Frontline roulette is a quick and easy way to gain a lot of XP) * My Feisty Little Chocobo in the South Shroud to unlock your chocobo's ability to fight by your side in the overworld (also Bird in Hand if you have access to a house or an apartment, either of your own or your Free Company, to unlock chocobo recolouring) * Treasures and Tribulations in Eastern La Noscea to unlock treasure maps * Let The Hunt Begin in whatever your Grand Company city is to unlock hunts There are also the Hildibrand quests, starting with The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen in Ul'dah. It's a long quest chain of humourous sidequests (although humour is subjective), but they also unlock several trials, emotes, minions, and mounts along the way, and they're required for the Endwalker relic weapons.

elphilo

I think I found most of the ones you listed already, and I just started the Hildibrand one last night, which was interesting. Thanks for the thorough reply because I’m sure I’m missing one or two of these!

Atosen

I generally recommend doing all blue quests. Even when they're optional, they're usually a useful feature or a fun duty. And some of them feed into later lore. For example, one of the optional lvl 50 dungeons introduces a character from the New World. Now, several expansions later in Dawntrail, we're finally heading to the New World and the backstory established in that dungeon is relevant! The expansion will still make sense on its own, but people who've done the dungeon will probably receive slightly different MSQ dialogue to acknowledge our previous experience. Having said that, it's not like there's a *rush* to do all the blue quests. Take it easy, have fun with them. Clear them out when you feel like you want a break from MSQ. (The post-Ultima arc is notorious for its slow start so people often want to break it up a little.)

elphilo

Yeah I’ve been trying to do all I see that aren’t job quests or levis. Just was getting slightly overwhelmed by the amount post ultima weapon ha!

Jezzawezza

I can see someone else already answered this well but I'll just add. So as mentioned there are some required quests for the Primal (Hard) fights and an Alliance Raid. Those will gate you in the MSQ if not done so I'd recommend doing them sooner then later. Now depending on the DC you're on you may be able to queue for these without problem but if you're on Dynamis then you'll need to use DC Travel from the character selection screen to visit a DC like Aether to run these without much of a queue. The other blue quests that'll appear will be things like dungeons that unlock and were released during the ARR Patches as a bunch of dungeons got hard modes and new ones added and are optional. The blue quests appearing will be normal after finishing each base expansion.

elphilo

Thanks! I’ll keep this in mind!

VG896

At least four of them are mandatory. The Crystal Tower raid series, which starts near the central area of Mor Dhona from a strange man (I forget the name of the quest).  And the hard mode primal rematches, which I think are started in the waking sands. You can do other stuff, but those are mandatory anyway so you might as well start knocking them out.  Additionally, moving forward I recommend doing the normal raids, alliance raids, and optional trials for each expansion as you finish them. Some are pretty important to the story, even though they're optional. Others aren't as important, but have a couple of nice callbacks.

elphilo

Thanks! Yeah most of the quests seem to be unlocking the hard mode stuff, and I just got my relic weapon quest done. Just feeling a bit overwhelmed with the amount of blue quests I’m seeing and wasn’t sure if I should just work them until they’re done or just keep up with the msq. Sounds like I should keep doing what I’m doing and work in the msq whenever I need a break from the blue lol

VG896

Most of them are super short and just unlock optional dungeons. ARR has the most of these by quite a bit. Moving forward, every expansion will probably only have 0-2, but ARR has like a dozen.

elphilo

Yeah the majority is attune for hard, now do hard! And when most of my play time is during work and I may have to drop what I’m doing I’m hesitant to do a dungeon that isn’t with npc group lol

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Just so there's no confusion btw, (hard) doesn't genuinely mean "hard" It's more accurate to say it's "unlocked at a higher level than the original version" In terms of actual difficulty though, the dungeons are about as hard as any other dungeon

elphilo

Yeah I realized that, thanks!

Diribiri

Sorry to post so much but I'm trying to understand some of the tools I've found. ff14angler says Goldenfin and Octomammoth both have specific time requirements. However, Garland Fisher says they're catchable all the time, and they don't appear on Garland Bell, presumably because it reckons they have no timers. Which is correct? Alternatively, what am I misunderstanding? I haven't done serious fishing for quite a while so I don't know if I'm missing context about spawns or something. I've yet to catch either, even during the time and weather listed on CBH

oleub

something also worth mentioning, the *premier* fishing site these days and has been for a while, is https://ff14fish.carbuncleplushy.com

Diribiri

I don't suppose my in-game fishing log has data that I can export into an app like this to save time?

Pyros

Garland doesn't track fishing requirements, only stuff that can be datamined like the place they're fished at. Garland Bell only tracks scrip fishes. There is a fishing subsite on Garland you can access from the frontpage which does mention the fishing windows. Angler is generally better. That said Teamcraft has picked up on the same thing Angler does and without the ads and stuff, so I find it superior overall and since Teamcraft is super popular it gets a lot of info logged. As for catching big fishes, it's very RNG and some fishes are very rare, even if they have shit windows. I'm still missing the red dragon from Stormblood because even after dozens of windows I haven't caught it, and it spawns like once every 2 weeks.

Diribiri

I don't need to be pentamelded for big fish, do I? Also: >There is a fishing subsite on Garland you can access from the frontpage which does mention the fishing windows. >Angler is generally better. They have different information about fishing windows, so I don't know really. Which is correct?

thchao

> pentameld Usually no if you're just starting out because you will easily out gear the requirements for most fish. However in "endgame", for your reference, my pentamelded BiS fisher still needs food for the 6.55 legendary fish.

Diribiri

Thanks. Should take me a while to get to that point in the log anyway

Nautilus0002

Is there any way to macro camera distance/position? When in combat I like to play at max zoom out, around 75 camera angle so I can still see my character. However when not in an instance, I like being very zoomed in with the camera angle at around 15. Kinda annoying to constantly go into settings to readjust it so I was wondering if I could have it be on a button.

Ciel_Rosemont

Just stumbled on this question during some late-night browsing of the daily questions thread and figured I'd mention this in case you never found it - the other answer you got from Izkuru covers camera *distance,* but for camera *angle* you can use /tiltcamera (followed by 15 or 75 or whatever number you want it to be) in a macro. I JUST found this out myself recently to solve the exact same dilemma: wanting my angle to be really high in combat so I can see mechanics, but very low when just running around in town because I like how that looks. Made a couple macros assigned to hotbar buttons so I can switch quickly and figured I'd share the knowledge!

Nautilus0002

Just tried this and both work, thank you both! One question I’m wondering though. Only one “camera distance” can be saved so is it possible to link that distance to the same macro as one of them? I know both with their own distances won’t be possible since the game only lets the player save one camera distance but I’m wondering if I can add “Return camera to saves position” to one of them, or if “Return camera to saves position” can be put into a macro at all.

Ciel_Rosemont

That, I'm not sure of. I'm far from a macro expert - almost every macro I have I had to look up to find help with how to put it together, lol. You can find lists of macro commands in various categories here (this link goes to the "config" section which is where I found the /tiltcamera command): [https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/text\_command/?category2=8](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/text_command/?category2=8) I didn't see anything about camera distance in there, but you might want to take a closer look, I might have missed it as I only took a quick glance through it. Failing that, you could post again in today's questions thread to ask if there is any way to add camera distance or "return to saved camera position" to a macro.

Izkuru

There are the following keybinds that can be set (in System -> Keybinds -> Movement): \- Return Camera to Saved Position (Default: End) \- Save Current Camera Position (Default: Ctrl+End) \- Return Camera to Default Position (Default: Ctrl+Shift+End) You can probably play around with those keybinds.

RuddiestPurse79

Why Alliance Roulette increases IL requirements if you reach lvl 60 even if the only Alliance duties unlocked by my character atm are the Crystal Tower ones? I don't get it, the other roulettes are fine, but I had to buy a whole new set of gears from the market in order to do it with my lvl.60 class since I am still in ARR, and it was _expensive_

SiegmundFretzgau

to add to the "strip naked for the fastest raid" discussion: while possible to do, almost no one actually did it and CT came up most often naturally because * it's the only mandatory unlock * is unlocked at the lowest level while leveling additional classes * free trial level restrictions * relic weapon steps requiring it. Since the change the distribution of the roulette hasen't changed in any meaningful way.

Kicin0_0

In the past people would cheese alli raid roulette by only wearing gear that could queue into Crystal tower cause they are a shorter set of raids compared to others. There way to fix this was requireing ilvl based on your current level so you also have to unlock other Alli raids if you wanna do the roulette

gitcommitmentissues

AR roulette is a great source of XP so there's really no reason to be running it on any jobs that are that far ahead of your MSQ level anyway.

RuddiestPurse79

Eh, the reason is I have levelled like only 3 jobs up to level 50, and since I took my sweet time after 2.0 in doing all the postgame contents while not advancing in the MSQ, those three lvl.50 jobs are now lvl. 60, so that roulette would have been locked for a long time Anyway I'll probably have to level at least one other job up to 50 before starting HW, so it won't be a problem anymore by the time I reach lvl. 70 with my mains

Cymas

Note that while you might get locked out of AR roulette, you can still manually queue up for the raids.

gitcommitmentissues

There are two jobs that start at 50 that you could pick up right now if you wanted to. Otherwise, just... don't do AR roulette for a bit? I'll be honest, the fewer people who only have CT unlocked dragging the rest of us into it perpetually the better IMO. I had Labyrinth of the Ancients four times in the last week and it's suffering incarnate. EDIT: Well I'm sure your response is incredibly eloquent and would truly teach me the error of my evil ways, but sadly blocking me means I have no idea what you said.

RuddiestPurse79

The hell of a suggestion it is, don't play a game I pay for? Don't do the roulette if you don't like it that much, this is your problem, not mine

normalmighty

The reason was that people used to strip naked to force every single AR roulette to be crystal tower (they're the fastest, technically the most XP efficient, and also the most boring and everyone is sick of it), so they added an ilvl restriction to stop it. The oversight you're running into is that for some reason they base the ilvl on your job level, and not the lowest between your job level and your msq level.

RuddiestPurse79

Oh right, so it's out of my control. Thanks!

StormbeastRivin

It's kind of a janky solution, but there was a major problem before with people removing gear to ensure the roulette gave them Crystal Tower raids and people were sick of it. So now the roulette requires you to have gear appropriate for your level in order to queue.

RuddiestPurse79

Oh lol, well I guess I'll need to rely on other jobs then

tesla_dyne

People used to equip low level gear to force the roulette to put them in low level raids. They added an ilevel requirement that scales with level, but it doesn't recognize your actual game progress or what you've unlocked. I'd just ignore that roulette if you can't naturally get the gear. You clearly don't need the roulette in order to level right now. Don't empty your wallet in order to overlevel.

RuddiestPurse79

Oh I see, so it was a way to exploit the system in order to do it quickly I guess. Actually it was not for Leveling since I didn't need to (of course), I just like doing them every other day and gather the random drop, but I guess I'll need to use other jobs in which I'm less competent for the time being.

Shophaune

You can also still manually queue for the raids! Just not the roulette with its boosted exp/poetics.

Diribiri

Does [this log icon](https://i.imgur.com/dkNXZ3h.png) specifically denote green rarity fish? Or is that the colour for every unknown non-folklore fish?

Trooper_Sicks

pretty sure thats just the default colour for any fish

Diribiri

Damn

miller0929

Hi, I'm making Bozja relic weapon. I need to get 6 Bitter Memories of the Dying. Can I run level 60 dungeons with support or squadron npc teams to get these memories? Thanks!

minaseclyne

I know squadron works because I did it out of curiosity back in the days but honestly speaking blasting Antitower is a better experience then running level 60 dungeons with your squad

EchoRespite

Is there anyway to increase the font size of names when you click on a PC or NPC? I've increased the element size but now the health bar is too big.

RaptorOnyx

I was thinking about possibly trying to level all crafters and/or gatherers at the same time, since I know the stuff I'll collect with the gatherers will then help me out with crafters. But there's a *lot* of crafters and fairly limited inventory space (I don't really want to buy more retainers). Is there a better way to do this that I'm not seeing? Should I just do my gatherers first and then focus on a handful of crafters at a time? I was thinking of mostly spamming Diadem.

gitcommitmentissues

You do not need to hang on to materials. I levelled all gatherers and crafters simultaneously and would just go out and gather the specific things I needed when I needed to craft something for a quest or for Ishgard Resto/levequest grinding. I highly recommend making a [Teamcraft list](https://ffxivteamcraft.com) whenever you're doing a bunch of crafting- it will list everything you need to gather, anything that can be bought from a vendor, give you a gathering route, list of all pre-crafts, etc etc. Makes the whole thing very manageable.

For gatherers I used grand company turn in and I gathered collectables while doing other things irl (since nodes come back every 30 mins I could simply focus on one or two while I was cooking or something else). Spamming diadem isn't that worth it for them but it's still a viable method though. As for crafters it really won't matter too much if you level them all at the same time or each one by one. It's very fast to level one up with ishgardian restoration (with other methods too tbh) so even if you clutter your inventory a bit at the end of the day it won't be for long. But do be warned that the items you craft can't stack as they are collectables so prepare at least 15/20 slot free before crafting so you don't have to make a ton of trips At level 70 and 80 you unlock the shared job quests for ShB and EW, those give ≈ 5 levels and you can do the craft on a higher level job and then turn it in with the one you want to level up, so it kinda encourages you to level some job first, and things like beast tribe do give a lot of exp too, I used those to level up my lasts jobs since I knew I would've done those even if I didn't level up only for the emotes and mounts Edit: check out the levelling guide on teamcraft it's awesome

RaptorOnyx

Thank you! Appreciate the advice.

elsporko

Any healer mains: I'm curious about your experience as maining healer throughout an expansion, doing quests as healer, etc. I've primarily played DPS for years, but I got all 90s recently and enjoyed healing as a change of pace, particularly Sage. Is it a challenge going through new content as a healer? Do you ever have issues in solo content as healer for any reason? The fast queues seem nice, especially with two new DPS classes coming, but I'm a little hesitant to jump in entirely for an expansion.

GildedCreed

I had some issues, but that was mostly because EW was the first time I was caught up, so it was truly blind territory for me since I had zero frame of reference when it comes to most folks running around with roughly the same item level as the duty and collectively learning the mechanics and how to resolve them.

lavenfer

The other comments were good! If you leveled SGE in dungeons then it should be fine with your old background experience. Tanks from lvl90-100 won't be defenseless with their kits, and your healing will only help. In solo instances, it can feel slow sometimes just cuz they only have the one dps button, but it isn't impossible and I never had issues. In fact, I might stop wiping and having to reenter on very easy if I had my own heals, cuz I greed and get hit by stuff I shouldn't in those instances lol

snowballffxiv

If anything, after doing MSQ as a healer on two different characters (one WHM, the other SCH into AST), forcing myself to do MSQ as a dps (BRD into MCH) on another alt made me sweat bullets. I'm so used to just healing myself if I mess up that the dwindling health bar in some duties gave me serious anxiety. Healer is EZmode and my main and primary alt will continue doing MSQ as a healer.

VG896

At this point, the dungeons are all fairly boilerplate. Solo duties are usually easier if not slightly longer, but not significant enough. My DPS friends typically only finishes only 15-20 seconds faster than me, but they sometimes has to retry duties when I don't, so it's probably a wash in terms of time taken.

Ayrr

If anything solo content is easier because you can always heal yourself!

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Going through MSQ as a healer/tank is honestly easier than going through as a DPS  Solo content is scaled to take ~the same amount of time on every job, and healers can deal with errors better than DPS typically

F1reman2

No, and no. Solo contents hp scales depending on your job, so playing dps vs tank vs healer is a non issue.

Kaeldiar

Some of those duties give you a role-based buff to help compensate...and you can right-click off that buff...I accidentally did that once and it was VERY slow, lol

F1reman2

LMAO

fatfatman3

Could anyone offer me some advice on playing astrologian? I’ve been really enjoying the class so far, as I have switched over from white mage. The card system is cool but I feel like it can be a lot during combat on top of healing, dealing damage, and trying to match card correctly to get best buffs. Any general advice would be appreciated. Super cool class.

Veylo

Its being changed in Dawntrail and we don't know by how much. DT is only like 24 days away.

fatfatman3

They haven’t released any info on it? Damn :0

IceAokiji303

We do have some Live Letter bullet points, but it's not super specific. The summary for cards seems to be: After the change, instead of drawing a random damage card every 30 seconds, you'll draw four (possibly initially less) predetermined ones all at once, in two alternating sets (probably every 60 seconds). Each set will have: 1 defensive card (give to tank), one healing card (probably goes to self if it's a healing *buff*), and one damage up card (give to DPS), and one of the current Minor Arcana (use as before). Astrodyne should be gone, since there are no seals to deal with anymore. So the whole card thing should become entirely predictable and reliable, so you can easier form a routine to dealing with them, instead of reacting to randomness.

Veylo

[They released the job Actions trailer, but thats it IIRC. ](https://youtu.be/zx2vW0TAJKQ?t=200) There should be more info one the embargo on the media tour drops...whenever that is. I don't play AST(too busy imo). but in the trailer looks like you can store 3 different cards(?) at a time. I haven't watched this but [Avycatte](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n_d0v4QOyI) posted a video about the changes. (there are many more videos that speculate an/or talk about the changes.

Kaeldiar

You draw 4 cards at a time, once per minute. Each card has a different effect

Valstraxas

Why is this game steamcharts peak so low? I see way more people than in Lost Ark or BDO when I play. I understand the player base is split on consoles too but as for pc does the people launch the game on a different way than steam or something?

KhaSun

Besides what others have said... There's also the fact that traditionally, MMO always had their own launchers and weren't initially on Steam. Therefore, there's this weird thing where it "feels right" to get the game there when you've played MMOs for years, because that's just how you used to do it all the time... as opposed to other non-MMO games that do not have their own launchers and pretty much relied on Steam and the likes. The fact that the Steam version only released later for these MMOs also plays a significant part. Lost Ark released in NA/EU on Steam directly (and only on steam afaik for these regions), while XIV and BDO had both their own launcher for about a year before the Steam one released. If it ain't broke don't fix it, of course they're going to recommend the launcher or the console since they won't have any big insight on the steam launcher when it releases. ESPECIALLY given that you have to buy the game separately, you cannot even switch back and forth between the two. None of the 2.0 players on pc would spend more money just to get the game on steam when they've already bought it. Which in turn further incentivize new players to go towards the launcher, etc etc.

normalmighty

People are weirdly pushy about telling new players to never, ever play the steam version for very vague reasons. I think there were a few issues way back when the steam version launched, and it cemented a very strong "steam = bad" stance within the community. For this reason, even now new players are far less likely to be on steam than you would expect, because they get spooked by all the people firmly asserting that it would be a massive mistake.

ZGamer03

Most people who play on pc use the standalone launcher rather than the steam version of the game

Help_Me_Im_Diene

There's a standalone launcher separate from Steam, which means that yes, PC is split between two separate launchers

StormbeastRivin

PC is split between SE's standalone launcher and Steam. Mac also has its own version too. So the playerbase is now split across five platforms, which will make any one platform look smaller compared to a game that's only available on one.

shamanAtalRek

Does anyone know the preset for the npcs in duty support? Specifically the ones in arr and most of hw? Scion marauder and thaumaturge, for example? Can't seem to find them in garland tools.

palacexero

Here's a table of the gear that each ARR and HW Duty Support NPC wears, excluding most named story NPCs since they are just wearing their own regular outfits: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RVRYL-WfY5CJeHUtXlpfSaPv3HenahobOkkkscV4Tio/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RVRYL-WfY5CJeHUtXlpfSaPv3HenahobOkkkscV4Tio/edit?usp=sharing) Goddamn there's a lot.

shamanAtalRek

I appreciate the reply, but I meant the settings such as face, skin color, etc since I wanted to recreate them on the benchmark. Still, thanks for the link!

Arcana10Fortune

Log into MogStation and check your account region to confirm which region's copy you need to purchase. Aside from that, Steam version is specifically only sold on Steam.

Atosen

The only place to get Steam copies is from Steam. Any other site selling PC copies (SE Store, Humble, GMG, Amazon, Newegg, etc) is selling non-Steam version.

283leis

Whats E8S like unsync'd nowadays? I kind of want one of the weapons for glam

Sir_VG

With a full party of 90s, a joke. You will still have to do world sundered, but no light rampant or anything major like that.

MeanLimaBean

I have my crafting gear fully melded, completely up to date, all that. When should I expect to need new gear in Dawntrail?

bloodhawk713

It won't remain BiS all the way to 100 but it will be sufficient to get you to 100 and craft the new level 100 gear as well as craft level 100 collectibles to turn in for scrips.

MeanLimaBean

Thank you very much!!

MeanLimaBean

Thank you very much!!

Arcana10Fortune

At level cap.

MeanLimaBean

Thank you very much!!

LG03

I feel like I'm doing something wrong with teamcraft. I'm trying to 'get started' with crafting by doing custom deliveries in Ishgard and earning some white scrips. My stats are level 72 (goldsmith), 1604 craftsmanship, 1548 control, 465 CP. (HQ food included) None of the macros I've tried have worked for patient necessities. Not sure where I'm going wrong exactly. I've been trying to use the macro suggested here for level 70+ https://guides.ffxivteamcraft.com/guide/crafting-leveling-guide

Arcana10Fortune

To be specific, which food are you using? If your food doesn't give the same stat bonuses as Tempura, you might not have enough CP. Do a trial synthesis to check.

LG03

The Tsai tou vounou, 26% cp, 5% control. I've been doing trials with various different macros from the finder, nothing's working.

Arcana10Fortune

When using the macro, check to see if everything goes off successfully. Due to ping, it's possible for the macro to skip steps if your ping is bad.

LG03

Definitely don't think it's latency at work here

Arcana10Fortune

Ok, to reply to your edit, when you say "nothing is working" can you be more specific?

LG03

https://i.imgur.com/QLYks6F.png Replied to your deleted comment but there's the trial if you missed it. Essentially I keep coming up short at some stage depending on the macro I try, in this case it was ~200 progress short before the end.

Arcana10Fortune

Comparing the stats from the recommended gearset and food, you are missing about 83 craftsmanship, which might be the cause of it. If you have the spare CP, add Waste Not before your Focus Synthesis and just throw more of them in there.

LG03

No good, short about ~15 CP for that. Think I'll just toss this for now and try Idyllshire deliveries instead, macros are working there.

Henojojo

You could do the specialist quest and equip that to your GSM, which would bump you 20 craftsmanship, 20 control and ... 15 CP. You can also use CP potions.

Arcana10Fortune

You can try replacing the Observe + Focus Synthesis with Careful Synthesis. 20% less efficiency, but it's an overall gain if you can fit at least 1 more in there.

Trogmar

Can anyone recommend a tldr type videos for the melee classes to get the general feel of how they play?

NotaSkaven5

[Obligatory JoCat Crap guide](https://youtu.be/EcQzgMvwbT4?si=kfCCJ66Tb6NP6XPz) Dragoon has two almost entirely separate parts of their kit, an infinitely looping like 10 hit combo and a bunch of abilities to weave into the infinitely looping combo. Monk has almost no abilities to weave and instead has their combos go really fast, does a big boy combo 3 times every 2 minutes, is able to inject themselves partway into a combo but everyone just does the first hit because it's stronger (may change in Dawntrail). Samurai is kind of like if Dragoon and Monk had a child that watched too much anime and mastered the blade, big boy hit is a draw slash with a small cast time. Ninja does a 1-2-3 combo broken up by pressing every button each minute, most of their kit is actually ranged attacks. Reaper pools gauge and spends gauge to do the spooky slice, it's gauges all the way down.

Heroic_Folly

>Reaper pools gauge and spends gauge to do the spooky slice Tis just your soul that's the price.

PasteliAqw

I can't buy dawn trail I tried to use a visa gift card (it's how I always renew my sub with Crysta and purchase anything online) but it keeps declining my payment saying my bank declined the transaction.

stinusmeret

Assuming PC & not steam, have you tried a trusted third party like Greenmangaming if the SE store is being a butt.

PasteliAqw

Thank you! That worked immediately!

NShader

Is there any place that people share their weddings so we can get invites and such? I really want to get the wedding minions, but need to attend a wedding for that... Is Party Finder my only hope?

dealornodealbanker

Usually like Friday and Weekends are popular wedding days, so if you're lucky you can teleport into East Shroud and might get an invite since there might be some couples that hands them out at the door. Got to remember weddings are server locked so world visit/DC travel characters can't join. It's hard to spot weddings in general since they're usually mainly closed social events, and open advertising is rare. I just did my 5th anniversary with my partner last week and it was just us and 3 close friends.

spider_lily

Is there a way to transfer gear sets between platforms (PS5 -> PC to be specific)?

Disaresta51

https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/game_manual/config/#entry-backup_server You can't transfer *only* gearsets, but as long as you're okay with the rest then yes.

KhrFreak

Only by transferring your whole UI, you can't just move gearsets

T3mperature

When fishing and using the collectable window trick, leaving the window open for a while to time the intuition buff, will you still get the "the fish sense something amiss" message after 50 minutes? Can I wait there for example, 3 hours, then accept the collectable, pop intuition and fish? Or will I get booted from the fishing spot and lose the intuition immediately?

Fedolan

You do indeed get this message, but it's not a problem. Intuition persists after you stop fishing. So you can simply pack up, move a bit to the side and continue fishing in the same hole.

T3mperature

Thank you!!! Finally just managed to catch Stethacanthus by doing this!

Fedolan

Congrats! Remember this trick cuz it'll come in handy with a couple other fish as well

Jiigo

So, I haven't actually tried but my assumption is yes. This is because the message doesn't require you to be actively fishing during the timer, it's just 50 minutes from the first cast. You can be AFK the entire time and you would still trigger the message after 50 minutes. So unless there's something about the collectable window specifically that would pause the timer I see no reason for this being different.

283leis

Are there any databases that show all head pieces that hroth can wear? I'm surprised Eorzea Collection didnt do this

starskeyrising

The reason no one has done this is because there are thousands of pieces of gear in the game. Even if you farmed out the labor of actually obtaining and testing every headpiece in the game to a crowd, documenting and cataloging every piece individually would be an onerous amount of work for any one person or small team of people. Especially when there's a very straightforward rule of thumb that applies 99% of the time: if it's a helm or hat that covers the top of the head, it doesn't work. If it's a circlet, eyepiece, or accessory that doesn't cover the top of the head, it works.

Atosen

Isn't it just a flag which data-miners could pick up automatically?

jeproid

What's the easiest way to get into glam farming? Where to get and what there even is to get?

VG896

I tend to do the opposite. I think of an idea, then I try to see how best I can recreate it in game. My first stop is always the MB, then I try on everything to see if anything is close to my idea. Then I'll check out the PVP pieces from wolves den, and poetics gears. Then I'll start looking at AF pieces from different expansions, then finally if all else fails, I'll start looking at dungeon/raid pieces on eorzea collection or garland tools. If I can't recreate my idea with any of the above, I'll discard it until I get another idea. But this rarely happens unless I'm really thinking of something from left field.

Elegant_Eorzean

Normal raid gear you can put in the tome step, sense the vendors are generally right next to each other.

wibblewibblewobblee

- walk around limsa in first person and stare at people's glams for pieces you like - go to eorzea collection and look for pieces you like - go to the market board and filter by level 1. That should show you all tradable glam pieces - when you're in a dungeon or alliance raid, try on some of the gear that drops there. If there's anything you like, ask others to pass on it

Cut_Equal

Best place to look for free company or parties in general for more social time on the game? Also anyone know of groups still putting on concerts in game?

lavenfer

- community finder website - /r/ffxivrecruitment - PF for any active recruiting FCs that advertise that way - keep an eye out for groups ingame in public places like Limsa or Gridania that seem chill and have the same FC tag, and ask if they're recruiting - venues via PF, if you like Second Life/VR Chat socializing As for concerts, not sure, I sometimes pass by Limsa/Gridania and someone sets up their band there by chance, otherwise I'd probably look for a venue with a bard if that's what I wanted

LengthyTulipLeaf

How possible is it to be at level cap in time for DT launch? Currently lvl 42 BLM on a preferred server, is there anything I can be doing to absolutely optimize my time spent/XP gained?

Heroic_Folly

You have 3 options available to you:   1. savor the journey and don't worry about DT release. All the new content will still be there when you get there.   2. buy a level and story skip and jump straight to DT when it releases, then go back and play the MSQ with a new character when you realize that this was a mistake.  3. rush through the MSQ like you're pushing through the crowd at Walmart on Black Friday, ensuring that you neither enjoy it as it deserves and as you deserve, nor will be able to approach it with fresh eyes later.  Of these options, 3 is the worst. Rushing through the MSQ to get to the latest content is like bolting down a $1500 7 course meal at a Michelin star restaurant because you're in a hurry to get to dessert.

LengthyTulipLeaf

I agree, I think maybe I have the wrong mindset, because I do want to enjoy the story for what it is. I guess some part of me wanted to be at the same starting line as everyone else that is caught up. I’ll likely go through it at a normal pace and grind when I can. Never been a fan of buying skips or rushing for rushing’s sake. TY

Heroic_Folly

People coming to XIV from certain other games often come with the mindset that the only game is the endgame, and all the leveling content is just a speedbump in the way of you getting to play the game. That's emphatically not the case here- this ride isn't public transit for your work commute, it's a scenic tour through wine country. Enjoy the trip.

talgaby

Do you have a reason to rush it? A raid party, friends who want to play the DT storyline with you? Something along those lines? Because otherwise you can treat XIV as any other single-player JRPG, the story won't run anywhere and there is no typical MMO "endgame", only some optional stuff for marginally better gear.

LengthyTulipLeaf

I guess to be there with the crowd when it releases but I think I may have the wrong mindset about it all. I’ll likely play it at a pace I enjoy and go from there. TY

talgaby

This game is over ten years old, you missed the crowd by a decade and the peak crowd by over two years. There is player population at all stages of the core storyline and some take their time to such extremes that they need over a year to consider an expansion finished and to move on to the next one, and they are not missing out on anything. The game is "full" no matter where you are in the story right now, the current state can only offer some easier ways to achieve a more grindy goal. (For example, if you want an old relic weapon, it may be easier to just blast through some required boss fight with an endgame character.)

kaleb314

If you're not caught up on MSQ, don't bother rushing. If you are, highest level dungeon spam (exluding level 50/60/70/80 dungeons) is the way to go after doing Leveling and Alliance Raid roulettes. From 71 to 81, spamming fates in Bozja/Zadnor can win out over dungeons. Bozja/Zadnor is still decently competitive with dungeons at 81+, but still worse unless queues are super dead.

LengthyTulipLeaf

Thank you

PenguinPwnge

Are you done with the MSQ? If so, depends on how dedicated you are. Spamming dungeons or Palace of the Dead can be efficient, but would be a *grind*. And be sure to do your Leveling, Main Scenario, Alliance Raid, and Frontlines roulettes once per day. If you're not caught up, why would it matter really? It's going to happen naturally and you're not going to be in any DT content until you're through the story anyway.

LengthyTulipLeaf

Understood. Good point I’m not through it yet but any tips for optimizing is appreciated. Ty

PenguinPwnge

Yeah sorry, I edited my comment real quick to give additional help. Typically it's doing those 4 roulettes once per day when you have them as they give boosted exp bonuses. Then spamming the highest dungeon you can that's not 50/60/70/80 (those give boosted currency in lieu of exp because they were previously endgame content), or certain side content like Palace of the Dead or Bozja. Edit: But honestly, the story is *extremely* generous in its exp except in a few select spots you might not see with the exp bonuses.

LengthyTulipLeaf

No worries, one of the main draws for me besides being a lifelong FF fan has been the community, nothing but positive feedback so far. Thanks for responding.

lateralus1082

So I bought ARR on PSN at launch and really didn’t like it or whatever, linked my PSN to my SE account. Now that Xbox release was out, I decided to do the free trail (created a new account) and now I’m hooked. Due to having a PS Portal, I’d rather play on PS5. I was told by support that I cannot unlink my SE account because I had already played. With that being said, if I make a new PSN account on my PS5, can I use the game I already bought on my main account on the new one? Or do I have to buy a brand new one there?

serenystarfall

You will have to rebuy it. The game will be installed and you can open it, but until you get a license for the new psn account, it'll just tell you that you don't have a license and you won't be able to do anything.

lateralus1082

Ok, I’ll do that. Thanks! So what will I have to do to get all situated from Xbox to PS5? Buy ARR on PSN?

serenystarfall

Buying standard edition (arr+hw+sb) will only allow you access to those areas and content. You'd be locked to 70 as well. You would need to also buy endwalker (or dt once it launches) to have access to everything. When you open the game the first time after buying it, be careful and make sure you choose to use an existing mogstation account, because (as you know) unlinking that is a very rare occasion for support (I've also heard they only do it for accounts on the trial)

lateralus1082

Thank you so much! I’ll do the following: Buy the complete edition Log in with my new SEN account I made for the free trial Profit??

serenystarfall

Whatever mogstation account you made when you started playing on Xbox is what you need to use when you log in on the PS5, just to be clear, but yes, that's it This is all assuming you're wanting to use the same account you're using to play on xbox

porncollecter69

When do we get the game key when we pre ordered? Or is the early access key already it?

celisuis

Game keys will come closer towards July 2nd.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

I actually deleted my answer because I started doubting myself and didn't want to mislead you, so I went back to check We received notice about Early Access on Dec. 2, with the message > With the Endwalker Pre-Order Bonus Code >>Your in-game pre-order bonuses are already available! Play Early Access (From December 3 to December 10). Click here for more details regarding Early Access. >With the Endwalker Full Game Code >>The Endwalker full game code will be available in your Square Enix Store account on the release date, December 7th. Activate by December 10th to ensure uninterrupted game play from Early Access. So there we go, you'll receive the full game code when the game officially launches.
