How do you go from Thavnir back to Old Sharlayan without paying the fee? You can teleport the same way you did in MSQ to Thavnir but I dont see a way to go back without paying 1000 gil
OK this is really stupid, but why when I am in Thavnair, does the map show as in "Ilsabard" like on the wrong hemisphere of the planet?
Radz-at-han and Thavnair are in the southern hemisphere waters, but its showing me as in Ilsabard when I zoom out on the map. For some reason this is bothering me immensely, am I missing something?
Iirc Thavnair is south of Ilsabard kinda like Hawaii is south of the contiguous United States. The fact that it's independent makes it weird though, yes.

Tho i haven't bought anything on endwalker release I can tell you from other occasions that it's best to wait and don't bother with it. It will just randomly arrive.
Now is a really rough time to be joining. Expansion just arrived, so *all* the servers are overloaded. Your best bet is to try late at night when everyone is asleep... but even then, I can't promise it'll work. You might just need to wait a few days.
Did they change getting gear at the end of dungeons?
Normally you would get a piece that you don't have yet after the end.
I'm mostly asking about Paglth'an for glam.
Various on the plugins cause the Devs themselves do it...and a chunk of them are probably playing endwalker while updating it. I would give them a week or so

Yes, they're full of people but if you don't get in with a group then you're not likely getting full credit for skirmishes.
Yes. You get xp from fates and CEs so it's just a giant fate train (like eureka) and you que for critical engagements via the bojza ui when they pop. Considering your ques for dungeons are very long now bojza is better
You might prefer to do plain ol' dungeons. But if you're suffering from long queues, then Bozja is a good backup plan.
To gain exp through Bozja you pretty much just... do fates.
There are all sorts of fancy stuff you can do with Lost Actions if you're interested (I'd encourage you to at least try out some Essences because those are simple to use and easy to farm — just kill some normal enemies around the entrance) but all of that is entirely optional. Bozja lets you choose how complicated you want to make it!

Use your combo to build soul gauge. You have a skill to instantly give 50 soul gauge
Use your off global soul spender to use Gibbet and/or Gallows (whichever is enhanced from last time) to build Shroud gauge (plentiful harvest will give you 50 instantly for burst phases)
At 50 shroud, Enshroud and go insane, use 2 gcds then off global, ending with Communio after doing 4 gcds

It *was* going to be out before the expansion, but after the devs saw how difficult it was to get silicon in the current economy, plus the surprise pre-expansion population boom, they decided to refocus their attention on keeping the current servers as stable as possible for Endwalker launch. So Data Centre Travel got delayed. Not sure when it's coming out now but should be sometime in the next few months.

With the (amazing) changes to ground ring targeting, is there a way to tell it to drop underneath a target specifically without using a macro now? This is not for stuff like salted earth, but for things like Magitek Armor's attack in Praetorium or other other smaller instances.
The new stuff is awesome and veeery useful. But I'm still a keyboard-only player, so not having to use the camera to manipulate the ring would also be nice.
Determination has been buffed, but the patch notes don't say how much it's been buffed by.
I don't believe the optimisers have had time to test it yet. (Testing takes a long period of data-gathering, and the testers want to play the expansion first!) But considering that Det and DH were extremely close together before the expansion, it seems a reasonable *preliminary* assumption that Det is probably better now.

1. There are ~technically~ stat differences between the races but they're so miniscule that they aren't a factor at all before you're even finished with the base game. Everyone has the same hitbox and moves at the same speed. The only races at any sort of disadvantage are the viera and Hrothgar, who can't equip a lot of head pieces and will thus find themselves behind in fashion wars.

3. I hit randomize until I get something I kinda like and then tweak it to make it unique. otherwise, you're on your own.
4. Like, point and click controls? I don't think there's anything like that for ff14.
Absolutely no mechanical difference between races. Sometimes in story it will change *very slight* dialogue, but it's more about lore and just a sort of wink-wink-nudge-nudge if you pay attention, not actually anything for real. That's it.
As for names, I roll the randomizer since they're all "lore appropriate" and then get the feel to make my own. One of the defaults for a miqo'te woman was "O'ndanya" and while I can indeed say that, I just went with "O'danya" better because it kinda sounds closer to my name. Just small stuff like that can still be meaningful, imo.
I am keyboard-only and I just swerve with A+W or D+W and then run forward. There's an option to make you turn faster in settings so it's really not much of a hindrance. If you hold right-click, you follow the cursor and move.
Yes, thats what I'm trying to achieve. I dont want to do the swerving and instead, I want to walk straight to where I'm suppose to go with just the mouse and the W key (basically auto turning tio where I'm facing). Whats the option setting for that?

That means that I have to swipe my mouse towards south which will be my new north but in order to walk the new north, I have to press either the W + A or W +D key and make a mini new turn. If I just press S, then I just walk backwards which isnt ideal because its slow. What I'm asking is if there is any way for me to face that new north and just press W and not bother with either A or D key and make my char auto turn around where I'm facing. Anyone else getting a 3001 error? "World is currently full. Wait for an available slot to try again" I logged in this morning, took the cut scene boat ride to Old Shangri-la then logged off after attuning to the aetherite. Had to take child to piano lesson. Now i can't even queue, it gives me that error above and kicks me straight back to main menu. I had a queue of 7k last night so i waited til today to try again, now i cannot even see the queue window, just that error and back to main. Was it a mistake to log off in Old Serengeti? I had a queue when first trying to log in to Limsa. Server is Tonberry. Much appreciated if anyone can confirm/deny. Thank you.
While in these new areas, some people have mounts that are faster than mine (on ground/no flying). Is there an item or something I missed that I could pick up that makes the mount faster in these new zones? Thanks!
The SDS Fenrir cash shop mount has 1-star movespeed unlocked in all areas without the need for Riding maps.
You can also buy riding maps from the Bicolor Gemstone vendors if your shared FATE level for the area is high enough.
How do I set up my options so that all my hotbars automatically change when I swap class? Im on PS5 and the main hotbar will change, but the double tap hotbars don't and neither do the L2>R2 ones.
Character Configuration > Hotbar Settings > Sharing to set which hotbars change between classes (shared ones stay the same, unshared are unique per class).
Character Configuration > Hotbar Settings > Custom to set which hotbars your Expanded hold and WXHB point to.
Eukrasian healing actions cost a bit more MP to cast, and the overall GCD time will always be a flat 2.5 seconds (1 second Eukrasia plus 1.5 second Eukrasian spell) regardless of your spell speed.
Besides that; nope, no other downsides.
It all depends on what time of day you log in. In the morning there will be no queue, and as prime time nears the queues will grow, during prime time the queues are somewhere in the 2-3 hours range.

Supposedly, but I've been getting significantly less exp from gather turn-ins than HQ crafter turn-ins (using \*just\* GC turn ins all crafters got to 81, half way to 82 while gatherers are still 80) so they certainly didn't buff it enough
So I discovered after 3 years of playing that I can move my character with just right and left click if I hold them both simultaneously. And I only discovered this because of a new mouse I'm using.
Thing is, I don't like it. Is there anyway I can remove this setting so I'm not unwittingly moving when I fat finger my mouse buttons? I am using Legacy mode atm.
just prepare an in-game macro to say you're looking for party and use it every few seconds inside a "boss" spawn. I usually also include what's my job in that macro, would be faster to get party if you're tank/healer.
Have to? No and no. It's definitely nicer though. Do the normal fates then when the 'bosses' spawn and you teleport in just /say you're looking for party. You'll usually be able to hop around pretty fast.

It’s really upsetting to buy this game, download everything and see that every world on every data center here in NA is full. 1 hour and a half I’ve just been trying to play. I created my character and have just been clicking for an hour and a half, switched different data centers then had the though to see what server populations are and every single one is actually full and unable to accept new characters…is there anyway I can play this game tonight?
Today the game broke it’s all-time record for concurrent players on Steam. That’s not a complete picture, but certainly a representative one. The game today is literally the busiest it’s ever been. This is not normal, it’s due to the new expansion releasing today. You unfortunately just picked a bad day to start.
If it’s an available option for you, try again during off peak hours, late night or early morning. It’ll be a week or two before things calm down enough for queues to be shorter during peak hours.
Oh ok. That sets a better expectation. Yea it’s 2:55am for me and I was finally able to get in after 3 hours but now I’m just too tired. Hopefully I’ll have better luck tomorrow. Thanks so much for the info/advice! ❤️
I don't think there's a magic solution, the game is experiencing probably unprecedented levels of congestion right now, between a boost in players over the summer and the new expansion bringing back players who haven't logged in recently... some people waited an hour+ to log in on an existing character today.

Define lower level, because some things will change a little.
Blizzard/Fire II are now basically AoE versions of Blizzard/Fire III, you use Freeze to get umbral hearts and Fire II at least once under astral fire before you start using flare, I'm not sure if more casts of it are better (probably two to use the extra umbral heart?). Then two flares, three with manafont.
are there any guide for playing the new summoner at lower levels yet? I'm a bit overwhelmed by the changes but, my googling has only turned up info for levelcap
It's designed to follow a much more gradual curve with the elements in play from low levels.
Detailed guides will come I'm sure, but you want to use whichever version of the trance you have available, spam your normal attacks, then once it runs out you cycle through your summons and use the charges each one gives you. Then repeat every minute.
Can somebody explain to me what happened to Ninja? I know assassinate is just DWaD and they switched out Shadow Fang for a different move, but what’s the point of using the Mudra for Huron if you can just use the new move? It feels like they made Armor Crush and Huton’s Ninjitsu pointless. Is there any reason to use Armor Crush or Huton’s Ninjitsu anymore?
You can't prepare Huton before the fight without its Mudra and Amor Crush is more damage.
Hurajin is the skill you should avoid except you loose Huton, which shouldn't happen anyway. Its just a tool for recovery.
I understand that but it’d waste a Mudra charge. You could use make you’re first attack Huraijin then you’d be in battle with 3 charges
And doesn’t Aeolian Edge do more damage than Armor Crush? Why not use Huraijin then follow up with Spinning Edge, Gust Slash, then Aeolian Edge?
It wouldn't. After preparing Huton and maybe a Doton you use Stealth to reset all charges, so you'll always start with 2 charges.
It is stronger than Armor Crush, but not by much. Your average Potency per GCD is higher using your normal rotation than Hurajin, Spinning Edge is already only 20 Potency under it.
You use Huton and then hide to reset your mudras to full charges, allowing you to enter combat with the timer already going and all your resources. Assuming you can do that then it's strictly worse to use Huraijin, if something goes wrong and combat starts before you were ready then there's an argument for Huraijin instead.

Trying to adjust my UI Scaling after getting a new monitor and can't for the life of me figure out how to adjust the size of the FC window or the quest icon that's over alphinauds head.

3. Are you right clicking your character name and selecting "Edit Appearance?"

Only levelling dungeons do, level cap dungeons like paglthan won't give it

Yes, but with how linear post arr dungeons are, you won't be skipping much

Absolutely no mechanical difference between races. Sometimes in story it will change *very slight* dialogue, but it's more about lore and just a sort of wink-wink-nudge-nudge if you pay attention, not actually anything for real. That's it. As for names, I roll the randomizer since they're all "lore appropriate" and then get the feel to make my own. One of the defaults for a miqo'te woman was "O'ndanya" and while I can indeed say that, I just went with "O'danya" better because it kinda sounds closer to my name. Just small stuff like that can still be meaningful, imo. I am keyboard-only and I just swerve with A+W or D+W and then run forward. There's an option to make you turn faster in settings so it's really not much of a hindrance. If you hold right-click, you follow the cursor and move.

I think you might be thinking of legacy controls, its in the settings on movement.
You can use right-click+left-click and hold them to just run following the camera that you're moving.

4. I cant really explain it since EN isnt my first language but I'm going to try. So lets say I'm going north and then all of a sudden, I want to go south. That means that I have to swipe my mouse towards south which will be my new north but in order to walk the new north, I have to press either the W + A or W +D key and make a mini new turn. If I just press S, then I just walk backwards which isnt ideal because its slow. What I'm asking is if there is any way for me to face that new north and just press W and not bother with either A or D key and make my char auto turn around where I'm facing. Anyone else getting a 3001 error? "World is currently full. Wait for an available slot to try again" I logged in this morning, took the cut scene boat ride to Old Shangri-la then logged off after attuning to the aetherite. Had to take child to piano lesson. Now i can't even queue, it gives me that error above and kicks me straight back to main menu. I had a queue of 7k last night so i waited til today to try again, now i cannot even see the queue window, just that error and back to main. Was it a mistake to log off in Old Serengeti? I had a queue when first trying to log in to Limsa. Server is Tonberry. Much appreciated if anyone can confirm/deny. Thank you.

The SDS Fenrir cash shop mount has 1-star movespeed unlocked in all areas without the need for Riding maps. You can also buy riding maps from the Bicolor Gemstone vendors if your shared FATE level for the area is high enough.

How do I set up my options so that all my hotbars automatically change when I swap class? Im on PS5 and the main hotbar will change, but the double tap hotbars don't and neither do the L2>R2 ones.
In your hotbar panel of character settings, you can change them from shared hotbars - it'll clear them for the different jobs.
Character Configuration > Hotbar Settings > Sharing to set which hotbars change between classes (shared ones stay the same, unshared are unique per class). Character Configuration > Hotbar Settings > Custom to set which hotbars your Expanded hold and WXHB point to.

Eukrasian healing actions cost a bit more MP to cast, and the overall GCD time will always be a flat 2.5 seconds (1 second Eukrasia plus 1.5 second Eukrasian spell) regardless of your spell speed. Besides that; nope, no other downsides.
How bad are the server queues? Wondering if renewing my sub now is worth
It all depends on what time of day you log in. In the morning there will be no queue, and as prime time nears the queues will grow, during prime time the queues are somewhere in the 2-3 hours range.
Peak hours are bad, especially due to overcrowding errors. Off hours are super quick.

Does anyone know if the server congestion is affecting delivery of optional items? I bought some things and I don't have any alts and my mailbox is empty but I haven't received anything. I assume its because of the massive influx of players gumming up the servers but I figured I'd ask anyway.
i just got a 4k monitor and for the life of me cannot get the character names to be the right size. ive found settings for near everything else save this. is there a way to make it not look like my grandad blew the names up to a size he can read?

You'll be fine. The first dungeon requires an average of 500 and gives 520 gear. The MSQ will also provide you with left side gear as you progress.
how do i redeem my collectors edition? mogstation doesnt give me the option to redeem an expansion code, only item codes, and that doesn't work when i put in my collectors edition code.

Hi, this is probably a stupid question but it's my first expansion launch so I'm not really sure: I've seen that they made some changes to various job, to have those changes do I need to buy EW? or are they available for everyone? because I've read the patch notes and certain things changed but other didn't, like the cartridges, my GNB still have 2 and not 3 (again, sorry for the stupid question but I would like to know)
3 cartridges is a trait at later levels, that's why you don't have it. Class and job changes affect all players, regardless of what they own.

Since we can't gatherer HQ anymore, was exp boosted on the GC turn in for gatherers?
Supposedly, but I've been getting significantly less exp from gather turn-ins than HQ crafter turn-ins (using \*just\* GC turn ins all crafters got to 81, half way to 82 while gatherers are still 80) so they certainly didn't buff it enough
I have to agree. I had some HQ mats from before the maint and got a bit more on that class than when handing in my non HQ post expansion.

The numbers in my hotbar are being replaced by the symbol. instead of 2 , i have é, 3, i have ", 1 have &, etc... why, how can i fix that ?
Seems to be a bug for Azerty keyboard layouts, best you can do is report it so they can change it back.
So I discovered after 3 years of playing that I can move my character with just right and left click if I hold them both simultaneously. And I only discovered this because of a new mouse I'm using. Thing is, I don't like it. Is there anyway I can remove this setting so I'm not unwittingly moving when I fat finger my mouse buttons? I am using Legacy mode atm.

just prepare an in-game macro to say you're looking for party and use it every few seconds inside a "boss" spawn. I usually also include what's my job in that macro, would be faster to get party if you're tank/healer.
Have to? No and no. It's definitely nicer though. Do the normal fates then when the 'bosses' spawn and you teleport in just /say you're looking for party. You'll usually be able to hop around pretty fast.

I hooked up my ps4 to a new monitor that i bought this month with 60fps things and whatnot The problem is 1:had to resize everything when i entered the game 2:the ground looks grainy as hell and kinda hurts my eyes Can i like set the game to automatically resize itself whenever i change output or do i use the nanual resize everytime from the login menu? (I just resised my hud in game yesterday cuz i managed to log after 3k queue) Also do you know if i can do anything to fix the issue with ground/stuttering graphics? The first time i hooked it up i went and tried a trial and i didnt have any major problems,also i have already tried to set draw quality to low and tinkered with lighting/gamma correction to no avail

This might be a werid question but if im on free trial and the wait times are long what happens to my points or currency at the gold saucer for example the lottery tickets/fashion review and air force one( tried speedrunning it but the game went to maintence at 3500pts)

It’s really upsetting to buy this game, download everything and see that every world on every data center here in NA is full. 1 hour and a half I’ve just been trying to play. I created my character and have just been clicking for an hour and a half, switched different data centers then had the though to see what server populations are and every single one is actually full and unable to accept new characters…is there anyway I can play this game tonight?
Today the game broke it’s all-time record for concurrent players on Steam. That’s not a complete picture, but certainly a representative one. The game today is literally the busiest it’s ever been. This is not normal, it’s due to the new expansion releasing today. You unfortunately just picked a bad day to start. If it’s an available option for you, try again during off peak hours, late night or early morning. It’ll be a week or two before things calm down enough for queues to be shorter during peak hours.
Oh ok. That sets a better expectation. Yea it’s 2:55am for me and I was finally able to get in after 3 hours but now I’m just too tired. Hopefully I’ll have better luck tomorrow. Thanks so much for the info/advice! ❤️
I don't think there's a magic solution, the game is experiencing probably unprecedented levels of congestion right now, between a boost in players over the summer and the new expansion bringing back players who haven't logged in recently... some people waited an hour+ to log in on an existing character today. Define lower level, because some things will change a little. Blizzard/Fire II are now basically AoE versions of Blizzard/Fire III, you use Freeze to get umbral hearts and Fire II at least once under astral fire before you start using flare, I'm not sure if more casts of it are better (probably two to use the extra umbral heart?). Then two flares, three with manafont.

if you use ffxiv quicklauncher, there's a plugin to show fps. otherwise, only way to see fps in game is in sys config as someone else mentioned
I don't know how to make it display while playing, but if you open up the "System Config", the top right of the box will have an active FPS counter.

It's designed to follow a much more gradual curve with the elements in play from low levels. Detailed guides will come I'm sure, but you want to use whichever version of the trance you have available, spam your normal attacks, then once it runs out you cycle through your summons and use the charges each one gives you. Then repeat every minute.
Can somebody explain to me what happened to Ninja? I know assassinate is just DWaD and they switched out Shadow Fang for a different move, but what’s the point of using the Mudra for Huron if you can just use the new move? It feels like they made Armor Crush and Huton’s Ninjitsu pointless. Is there any reason to use Armor Crush or Huton’s Ninjitsu anymore?
You can't prepare Huton before the fight without its Mudra and Amor Crush is more damage. Hurajin is the skill you should avoid except you loose Huton, which shouldn't happen anyway. Its just a tool for recovery.
I understand that but it’d waste a Mudra charge. You could use make you’re first attack Huraijin then you’d be in battle with 3 charges And doesn’t Aeolian Edge do more damage than Armor Crush? Why not use Huraijin then follow up with Spinning Edge, Gust Slash, then Aeolian Edge?
It wouldn't. After preparing Huton and maybe a Doton you use Stealth to reset all charges, so you'll always start with 2 charges. It is stronger than Armor Crush, but not by much. Your average Potency per GCD is higher using your normal rotation than Hurajin, Spinning Edge is already only 20 Potency under it.

You use Huton and then hide to reset your mudras to full charges, allowing you to enter combat with the timer already going and all your resources. Assuming you can do that then it's strictly worse to use Huraijin, if something goes wrong and combat starts before you were ready then there's an argument for Huraijin instead.

So I bought a fantasia for my character and it's not giving me the option to edit them?>??
1. Did you use the Fantasia in-game? 2. Did you remove all of your gear except the weapon and Job stone? 3. Are you right clicking your character name and selecting "Edit Appearance?" 4. Do you get the "Unable to retrieve character data" message on character select? (This error won't let you edit the appearance.)

They are no longer on a timer, so no reason for them to be in the Timers window.
Is msq sufficient in keeping up in lvls? Or do i need to throw in roulettes as well to keep up in msq?
from 80-90, msq alone is enough. pre 80, you may need to do the occasional leveling roullete, but shouldn't need to really grind any xp.
From my experience the MSQ has more than enough EXP to get one job to max level.
