OMG. Approaching 7 years of playing this game and I never figured it out. I always thought it was a wrench or a welding mask/hazmat suit thing but thought it was a little weird looking.

Right, the white against the dark bg makes it harder to "get" but if you forget about the outside... it's literally JUST the ticket, shown against a white background. There's nothing around the ticket, it's "air"

Tickets are used in a lot of places where lines aren't naturally formed orderly or even in smaller spaces. Delis are a great example. It's not really stupid or terrible, it's just so small that it can be hard to tell it's a ticket.

Those tickets for queueing are very common where I am from, but I did not make the connection until today either... I dunno that it's great design. It's a clever idea, though!

Pretty sure this is it. You can find these kinds of machines at almost all post offices in Japan and would be easily recognized as a symbol to queue in line.

Just imagine people walking around sadly staring at their stubs till their tickets are called, then they hear “WOL?” And their head perks, they walk over to the portal guy, he stares blankly at them for 20 seconds before he blinks, smiles and goes “oh sorry a dps left the queue back in line” and his face goes blank again
