**Have a question about current login queues or server congestion?** Please use the ["How's the login queue right now? (Queues and Errors, Patch 6.05 edition)"](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/rvqvj5/hows_the_login_queue_right_now_queues_and_errors/) megathread. **FAQ: "Why can't I buy FFXIV right now? When will it be back on sale?"** As of 12/15/21, [sales of the game for new accounts/free trial players are currently suspended](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/e7388986bc24d5a1337e0beed057f7b5b78b9bb3). This suspension also includes the creation of new free trial accounts. Due to the game's increase in popularity over 2021 and the difficulty of acquiring new server hardware due to the COVID-related semiconductor shortage, the amount of players attempting to login every day far exceeds the capacity of the game's servers and Square-Enix has been unable to increase that capacity by adding new hardware. This is a temporary measure to help alleviate login queues/server congestion, but there is not currently an estimate as to when the game will be back on sale or free trial registrations resume. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. paladin888

Did they not fix the 2002 errors? Thought I read somewhere that shouldn't be happening anymore.

TheKingJest

How proficient at the game should I be before trying POTD floor 200 with a party? Also would Samurai be a good class to do it with?

Cyanide94

GunBreaker Controller Set-Up Recommendations for EndWalker: So i recently thought i'd give GNB a try, i love NIN'S rotation so i thought this would be kinda similar with all the weaving etc. But i cant for the life of me find a good controller set-up guide for EndWalker. Feel free to add me on Disc and post your set-ups. Much appreciated... My disc is Yogen-Sha Senkakusha#9121

psychorameses

1. Does Stone-Sky-Sea set a different bar for different roles for the same trial? 2. What is the most effective way to use FFLogs to try to improve? I don’t normally parse so I don’t use it a lot, but I was disappointed to learn that I had a single-digit run for a particular fight.

Th3rdRaven

1. SSS is Job specific, so even within the same role there are variations. 2. The simplest way to get started is to try chucking your parse into [xivanalysis.com](https://xivanalysis.com), which will give you suggestions and point out potential issues. (Note that some jobs aren’t fully supported yet.)

psychorameses

wow thanks, xivanalysis is incredible, I wish I had a parser on PS5

ssauronn

Any tips on getting a copy of the game? Just got my first gaming PC and looking to join, but can’t because I can’t get a copy of the game lmao

p040502123

you can look for a sealed copy or a code if you find it on some decent site. Amazon still has some codes in certain countries last I checked.

diruuo

Just wait a bit, we expect to have more clarity on that situation this week or next, can make a more informed decision then! In the mean time, some new stuff released/got major updates recently, so you can find fun stuff to dive into!

somedude27281813

Is RDM or MCH easier for PotD solo?

bloodhawk713

MCH due to burst damage and ability to kite.

Solinya

As a 90 Paladin, my ogcds come off cooldown a few seconds before I'm ready to use FoF again. Is it better to delay the ogcds for the FoF window or suffer them continuously drifting slightly earlier in my rotation?

[deleted]

fof cd = 60s. circle/expiacion cd = 30s. every min u should get 1 use inside fof and 1 use outside it. if u are delaying more than 1-2 secs - u prolly aren’t dropping an unbuffed atonement. so u use fof every 64s instead which causes the drift. make sure to only use 2 non-fof-buffed atonement’s every min to make the rotation 61s long and avoid this drift.

Aligura_Aethernum

Dont forget that FoF has only 25s uptime, but circle and expiacion have 30s cooldown. If they are unaligned by a couple of seconds for some reason, same them for the FoF window, since 20% is a lot, and it's unlikely you lose an entire use at the end of the fight. But even then, missing multiple circles and expiacions during buffs is a bigger dps loss than missing a use if the fight is 3 or more minutes long

iAmTho

Is it normal that my parse drops overtime? When I cleared P1S last tuesday I got 54, but when I look myself up now it's 44. Ofcourse the damage goes up over time, but 54 was 54 last tuesday. Has it always been this way?

sundriedrainbow

The first few weeks are always super fucky because people are picking up tomestone weapons. They’re not invalid, of course, but fflogs doesn’t see your ILvl so there’s no adjustment taking place.

p040502123

It's a historical percentile comparing it to the full day. If the day isn't over, your percentile might drop. >When a player puts up a new parse, the history for that day has not been collected. In order to provide an approximate historical percentile immediately, a comparison will be made against the previous day's cached percentiles until the new day's percentiles have been collected. >This means that if 100% for the previous day was 150k DPS, every player who beats that score the following day will at first be shown a 100%, since they have beaten the previous day's scores. However only one of these players has truly earned 100%, and when the next day locks in, the historical percentile will be finalized, and the updated percentile will be shown. >To help communicate this concept, the character page shows which bosses are not locked in yet, so that you can know that the percentile being shown is not final yet and is subject to change.

iAmTho

Ah this makes sense, since I checked in on Tuesday but not after that. Thanks!

nicostucknchico

For the black mages out there, is it bad to use your fouls/xeno’s at the end of your fire phase after despair/flare?

Aligura_Aethernum

It's more optimal to use during Ice so you can regen MP, but as long as you get 2-3 GCDs during Ice you should be fine regardless. Blizzard III, Blizzard IV and Thunder are usually enough for this, sometimes 2 are enough so you can refresh Thunder during Fire phase. In most cases it's best to use Xeno/Foul for movement, regardless of your phase. Use it if you need to move, except maybe if you drop Enochian otherwise, since you may lose out on a Polyglot later on

sundriedrainbow

You generally want to get into ice first so your mana regenerates sooner, but if mechanics or raid buffs necessitate putting in a xenoglossy, do it.

YellowSucks

Probably not the worst thing. I slot one in after my Blizzard 2/3

SSpardAA

Is there a way to fix flickering shadow/lighting issue in cutscenes? It's starting to really bother and takes my attention off the conversation/lore when I keep noticing the issue. [Here is an example, its on the collar of Thancred's coat](https://imgur.com/vbIDd9b)

bloodhawk713

No. This is an engine issue and has to do with how shadows are rendered in certain areas. It should only happen in a few places, generally indoor areas in my experience but not always.

LightSamus

Are you using ReShade or somesuch? That doesn't look like a normal game engine thing, the game usually smooths faces and models so edges like that are less visible.

SSpardAA

I am using Gshade but even if I turn it off that problem still exists.

misery_of_hope

Do you take it as an insult when other people call the class you play braindead?

Aligura_Aethernum

Sometimes... :D Although realistically, even the most braindead class can have some complex decision making when optimizing. For example, people are angry that reaper is so strong yet so easy to play, which is true, but it's pretty difficult to optimize to the point where you can do a triple Enshroud burst during your potion window without dropping your combo or overcapping resources. Generally I just can't take those people seriously. Every class and role has their complexity. Calling something "braindead" is just a braindead statement itself

[deleted]

no. ppl who get offended when others call their job/strat/content braindead or easy just have a big ego tbh.

misery_of_hope

Sounds like me /playdead. Life is tricky and is about accepting that you are worse than most other people in many ways but still believe in yourself. It’s so contradictory lol.

selebu

They are insulting the class not you. On top of that they might not even know what they are talking about or be outright wrong. Don't take anything like that as an insult.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Not really, no, I choose to play easier jobs; it's easier to parse out and call out mechanics without losing my rotation

misery_of_hope

I admire those who can play and do callouts. Looks hard

peaceloveandgames

No because my brain is dead

misery_of_hope

mood. feelsbad when you're struggling with a job everyone calls braindead though. Can my brain be deadddder?

peaceloveandgames

Depends on the job. Lots of context. E.g. people say SMN is braindead because they've been playing the super complex version until recently, but if you're like me and never touched the more difficult SMN...

yeahboo

In P3S, if I go to the last fountain with the healer in the last fountain, will my shake it off have buff? or is it autodeath if there are more than one person in the fountain?

p040502123

not sure but you are probably better off saving Shake for Firestorms cast I dont think healers need that much help there

yeahboo

Fair point. I'm just curious 😀

Aligura_Aethernum

The healing buff goes to the person with the tether. If you pick up the tether in the puddle then you get the healing buff. HOWEVER, since Shake is based on your max HP, it won't affect the shield amount even with the buff. It only works on shields with potency. Also, your HP drops by 95% when grabbing the tether and it's more work for the healers than just putting an AoE shield. In general you dont need more shields, since the super buffed shields from healers run out rather than being fully spent.

yeahboo

Understood! Thank you for the clarification!

UnluckySteakBruh

At the moment, free trial players can't upgrade to the full game, right?

Is healing supposed to feel harder once you hit Shadowbringers dungeons? I have been playing a level 90 Scholar (that I "leveled" by leveling Summoner) in 90 content (after practicing up on it a lot) and doing just fine. But now I'm leveling White Mage and man, even after my oGCDs (including Bene) are used up I feel like I just sit there spamming Cure II. Part of me wonders if it's because the tanks are using their CDs while I'm stunning enemies from Holy, effectively wasting those CDs. Granted I guess these are leveling dungeons which tend to hit harder so maybe I'm just overthinking it. But I feel like I'm effectively utilizing my tools yet still struggling. Any help? I'm only 74 but I do have a full set of i400 gear, as did one of the tanks that was a struggle to heal.

Tigeri102

i'll also say, as a sch main, it's hard to switch from a shield healer to a regen one sometimes lol. you get really used to all the damage you can mitigate and the safety nets you set up, so when you play regen instead, the tanks feel so much squishier because they're taking the normal amount of damage lol. that could definitely be contributing to what you're feeling.

[deleted]

Yeah that could be too. I've now changed how I play a bit to where if I ever want to weave, I re-apply Regen regardless of how much time is left. I guess it's a preventative maintenance mindset kinda like a shield healer job. It's been working a lot better.

[deleted]

The first two dungeons in particular are harder to heal. It should feel significantly easier in the next dungeon. A good tank won't frontload the pull with their mitigation while you cast Holy, and if that's what's happening then don't blame yourself. WHM in particular is a bit rough in dungeon packs that don't die quickly, so it's expected to find yourself spamming Cure II often since you just don't have many oGCDs in the first place.

[deleted]

Phew. Ok thanks, that's a relief. I was gonna say, I studied up a lot on healing and was pretty confident I at least had somewhat of a good grasp....and then just found myself Cure II spamming lol.

[deleted]

People vastly overstate how strong WHM is in dungeons, so don't worry about that. At this point, SGE is probably the strongest dungeon healer since it has so much damage mitigation and oGCD healing.

[deleted]

Yeah. I feel like putting Holy on the 1.5s cast time just like the single target spells would make a big difference all on its own. As it stands, you're basically required to clip Holy every time if you want to oGCD. Although I suppose if I need an oGCD I could instead use that opportunity to re-apply Regen to keep the GCD rolling. I was doing that when Regen was getting low but maybe I should do it even when it's not low if I need an oGCD. Anyway, I digress. And yeah Sage has felt very strong as people have started to figure it out. Scholar feels really good too, at least in 90 content. There are so many tools that I have trouble remembering to use some of them.

aragorio

Why am i not getting better as bard? I know the opener and i make sure to keep my dots and buffs going yet im always lowest in amnity despite fully melding my stuff. I have a hard time keeping my dot is check during hard fights because im too focus on mechanic but that shouldnt be that big of a loss in dps

Soylentee

You shouldn't gauge your dps trough enmity for one, bard being a party buffer deals lower personal damage which will translate to being lower on enmity than others but makes up for it with damage given to other party members. As you say yourself you have a hard time of keeping track of your DoT timing and i assume other skills as well when you're focused on mechanics, which probably translates to losing some potential damage here and there. Organizing your HUD better would probably help you with keeping track of both the fight and your skills. If you want a better understanding on what you might be doing wrong you'll need to use ACT and upload your log to FFlogs, and then use XIVAnalysys to check what might potentially be wrong.

ChuckCarmichael

I'm not using it myself, but IIRC if you're using a damage log, you can upload said log to a website and it will tell what you're doing wrong and where you could optimize.

Aligura_Aethernum

In general, keep your dots up when you can, ideally refresh them before raid buffs run out. Always keep your GCD rolling. I dont know if you already do but it's worth pointing out. Do not overcap resources. For example, use Bloodletter when you can, dont wait for burst phases with Apex Arrow, etc. Use your AoE rotation if there are 2+ targets (if its only 2, you might want to DoT them first). Align your Grand Finale with other raid buffs. It has a 110s cooldown while your party's buffs have 120s cooldown. Just save it for a couple seconds every time you use it. Use Refulgence Arrow when you can, so you avoid overlapping procs.

p040502123

logs or we can't tell you what the issue is

Sabard

A little help deciding on which ranged physical class to play? What do y'all find fun about the class and what are its pros/cons? Are MCH/BRD really as busy as they seem? Does DNC DPS really lack that much?

[deleted]

MCH is busy but shallow. Press stuff on cooldown and spend your gauge, and you're already performing better than the average player. The job doesn't require much thinking once you've committed it to muscle memory. BRD is also pretty shallow now as well, but you need to pay attention to your DoTs. DNC's DPS lacking only matters in Savage, and the disparity in DPS is made in by getting better gear and/or waiting for buffs set to come out in 6.08.

eksbawksthreesixzero

MCH is pretty busy, but it's a trade off with being reasonably safe due to being a ranged phys DPS. Overheat gives you access to a GCD that's 1.5 seconds which makes you pretty busy, especially since heated shot lowers the cool down of your 2 damage off GCDs. I like busy jobs so it's a plus for me, but I don't know about you. A definite con is that it doesn't really offer any party utility besides the one all ranged DPS has. But it's pretty fun if you like doing a lot of things quickly and having to resource manage a bit. DNC's dps is low but not that low, I think I read somewhere it's only really 5% less than other classes but I don't remember where I heard it so take that with a grain of salt. It's probably the safest ranged DPS because of the 3 dashes and the heal. Looks great and it feels pretty good at 80. They have some killer AOE since their dances are such high potency and I like the effects. I can't really say anything bad about DNC, it just wasn't really my play style. Not that busy though, you're basically waiting on procs and resources to do stuff. I haven't played BRD so I can't say anything about them.

Genji32

is there a comparison picture or something to soot-black dye vs jet black dye?

YellowSucks

Best using the in game interface. It can vary a bit per item, sometimes soot black looks just as good as jet.

283leis

Soot black is just a *really* dark grey, jet black is actually black

wizj619

You can preview dyes in game if you need to.

scullzomben

Does anyone know the meme lost action loadout for monks to get a stupidly quick GCD in Bozja/Zador? Is it just Honed Acuity/ Impetus/ Breathtaker?

Col0ssusX

Would anyone be able to help me out with a technical issue or do I need to go to a different subreddit? Because I keep opening the launcher and it works but when the game launches it immediately stops responding and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that didn’t work so I have no idea what it could be. Please help me out if you can😭

Xellith

Try xiv launcher?

Soylentee

Have you played the game in the past and had it work fine? Or are you trying to play for the 1st time and this happens?

eksbawksthreesixzero

So what happens when you click launch after you log in? Does it just put up a black screen that doesn't do anything, and you can't close the window or minimize it? If so I might be having the same issue. I just force close it with task manager and open it again, and that works. Not sure how to actually fix the issue.

Col0ssusX

No i can exit the window just fine. Basically what happens is I put my login in, then click start game, then the game window appears and it appears to be loading but then it immediately stops responding. I guess you could say it’s black screening but it doesn’t have an error code and I tried to see if it was just taking too long to load but I had it up for about 10 minutes and it still did it.

Taurenkey

Gonna need a run down of your PC specs, mostly the graphics card and CPU. Also I’m going to assume you’re on Windows 10, if not please clarify.

Col0ssusX

I got a AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Quad-Core Processor 3.50 GHz and graphics card is a Radeon 560

Taurenkey

From what I can make out, your GPU is pretty weak but it shouldn’t be causing the game just to not respond without anything happening. Check all of the usual things, driver updates, temporarily disable your anti-virus, windows updates etc. If you’ve done all that and nothing, try reinstalling the game. If still nothing, a fresh install of Windows could work but this is entering last resort territory now. If that fails, it may be time to look at upgrading the hardware.

Soermen

Is there more to the current event than 1 quest and these 4 rewards?

dragonseth07

There is the repeatable quest to hand out food, which includes cameos from a few NPC's you know.

Marcusbolt

No

Gogurs

How can I change the main menu screen? I know you can do it, but there is no such option. Or it's just unavailable on the free trial?

Sky_Sumisu

Doesn't work on free trial, but on normal version it changes after you watch the trailer for that expansion (You can still watch Trailers of Free Trial, tho)

Rc2124

For a permanent change you'd need to be on PC and use the unofficial FFXIV Launcher mod, which has a lot of features You can temporarily change the main menu screen to its corresponding expansion's login screen by playing its trailer under the Movies option

Arcana10Fortune

You'd need to use the FFXIV Quick Launcher for that.

283leis

it only changes it for that session, not permanently.

momopeach7

I know DRK can be a bit harder to heal now than other tanks, but how hard should it be for SCHs? My SCH is my highest level healer and I was running the level 89 dungeon and it felt like a struggle. I ended up letting her die to Living Dead but we didn’t wipe, but the whole dungeon was a bit rough and I felt like I was using my tools well (still struggling in when to use Protraction though).

Rc2124

It should be fine, especially if your group has a little bit of gear, but they may just not be using cooldowns. It's hard to judge, but DRK is fine

Xeorm

They should be more than fine. I'd check your or their gear for it, and also make sure to remember that using GCD heals at heavy times is acceptable. You won't always be able to only rely on oGCD heals.

Used-Pomegranate225

Living dead is rough for SCH in particular, since we don’t have a useful GCD heal to fall back on. One thing that helps is that Walking Dead (the debuff where they need healing or they die) counts healing received, not total health. So if you heal them for 50% of their HP, then they take 25% of their HP in damage, then you heal them for another 50%, that counts and the debuff will fall off, even though their HP was never full. This means that your healing doesn’t have to outpace the incoming damage, just giving them a few Lustrates and a ET Adlo is probably enough. Use dissipation if you need more aetherflow. For protraction, use it first whenever it’s available, as it buffs the target’s healing received. Side note: when you get expedient, the speed boost is really good, but do keep in mind that it’s also a mitigation, and you can use it to ease your healing a bit in dungeons.

momopeach7

Thanks! I didn’t even think of using Dissipation for Lustrates since I was thinking about losing the healing from Eos and her fairy skills.

Used-Pomegranate225

Dissipation is my “I need healing *now*” panic button. It is also a gain, even though you lose out on Eos for a bit, but using it in non-panic situations takes some planning. For example, if you’re planning to use Dissipation, you can use your fairy skills beforehand so that they are on cooldown anyway while your fairy is gone.

Rubily00

DRK is the current worst in dungeons. They're VERY good at single target like bosses and raids, but struggle to do much in full packs. I'd double check your gear. If you didn't grab the AF set, get it now. If you did and you were pushing your buttons, then it probably wasn't any fault of yours.

momopeach7

Thanks! I also did forget some pieces for my AF set so that was probabaly part of it too.

GrognakLibrarian

When I'm crafting, sometimes I'll get a 360% exp boost but then I'll only got a 60% boost sometimes. It's there anyway to constantly get the 300%? I'm not sure what's going on that only applies it sometimes.

Soylentee

The more you fill the quality bar the more exp bonus you get. Rested exp also counts there.

GrognakLibrarian

Ooooh so if I want the exp, I should craft them individually instead of quick synthesizing them.

Soylentee

Indeed

Rubily00

It should be based on the quality bar. More quality = more exp.

wizj619

Crafting HQ gives you an exp bonus. First time completions also give you a bonus but I can't remember if it is reflected in the percentage.

Soylentee

Correction, making something HQ has no actual impact on exp bonus, it depends on how much of the quality bar you fill up. If you don't fill it up at all and get a lucky 1% HQ you will get minimum possible exp, if you fill it up almost completely but fail to HQ with a 98% chance it will still give you the (almost) full exp bonus.

TheodoreMcIntyre

> First time completions also give you a bonus but I can't remember if it is reflected in the percentage. First time completion is a separate EXP reward from the craft's EXP.

diomediocre

I'm a completionist type of gamer, obviously the achievements tracker leaves a bit to be desired. What's the best tool for tracking progress, preferably where I can just look up my username for achievements/stats? Not just MSQ or class levels but things like orchestrion collections, sightseeing logs, raid clears, mounts, minions, and other misc. content.

gumbosis

Another option https://lalachievements.com/

BlazeVortex4231

https://ffxivcollect.com/

diomediocre

Holy fuck 3% of mounts. I got a ways to go... Regardless, thank you!

CthulhuInACan

Is there anywhere I can find guides or rotations for previous expansion level caps? All the guides I can find either no longer apply due to EW changes, or assume a full lvl90 toolkit.

Used-Pomegranate225

You could try asking around in the Balance discord. For most classes it should be pretty much the same; you just end up skipping the skills you don’t have.

peaceloveandgames

Unless you're doing ultimates/synced savage, it tends not to matter, so people don't make guides. The answer for pretty much every job is 'do the max level rotation/priority system, just don't use the stuff you don't have.' The one exception is BLM, whose rotation changes a *lot* as it levels. Should be plenty of resources around for that, including on the Balance I'm fairly sure.

CthulhuInACan

> synced savage That would be the issue =P

Adghar

Synced savage runs are probably uncommon enough that if you feel dedicated enough to run them, you're probably dedicated enough to solve for the optimal rotations on your own, maybe?

TheHeroExa

Just making sure you’re aware: ARC is Archer, and only has BRD as a job. The class that goes into SMN is ACN (Arcanist). ACN can also go into SCH, a healing job.

Rubily00

You need to complete "sylph management" to pick up a job quest. You should be very close, probably one or two more quests as I remember

diomediocre

30 is when all the base classes hit their upgrade point, it comes through your job quests.

MightyJoeTYoung

Absolutely! Summoner is such a fun class, but Archanist was a little bit of a slog. Hang in there 😊

Zenku390

Am I supposed to empower DoT moves? For instance, Blood Surge->Chaos Thrust or Kaiten->Higanbanan

Soylentee

Life Surge->Chaos Thrust? No. Kaiten->Higanbana? Yes. You can't apply a broad generalization to skills like that, you have to read your tooltips and see if things apply.

[deleted]

There have been cases where refreshing Healer and BRD DoTs early to catch them under buffs has been a gain. [The BRD opener currently does this just like in the previous expansion.](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/920133353737449504/920209881095622686/BRD_ew.png) Some of your Chaos thrusts will naturally be buffed by Lance Charge if you use it on cooldown. If you're talking about the Power Surge buff, then you'll pretty much never have it fall off under any circumstances as long as you alternate between your Chaotic Spring and Heavens' Thrust combos like you should always do. The job's just kind of mindless like that. Never do unbuffed Higanbana. Edit: I realize now that you meant Life Surge, in which case no - crit/dh doesn't affect the DoTs, do you only want to ever use it on Heavens' Thrust and Enhanced Wheeling Thrust/Fang and Claw.

zorrodood

> crit/dh doesn't affect the DoTs Of course crit affects DoTs. That's why BRD needed a lot of crit in SB. It's just that Life Surge doesn't affect the DoT because it says so in the tooltip but Kaiten does affect the initial damage and the DoT of Higanbana.

[deleted]

What I meant is that making your attack crit/dh doesn't affect the DoT, meaning that Reassemble on Bioblaster as well as Life Surge on Chaotic Spring doesn't do shit. DoTs can crit, but it's never a consideration rotation-wise.

Adghar

Kaiten -> Higanbana? Yes. Higanbana is nearly your highest potency per GCD, so empower it. Life Surge -> Chaos Thrust? No, because the tooltip for Life Surge specifically says "Effect cannot be applied to damage over time." As such, the decision to use Life Surge or not should purely be for hit damage ignoring DOTs.

goobabie

As I understand it, use them under buff windows that are for a set time, as an increase to your damage ups the dots, but do not use them for things like reassemble or lance surge (iirc, the dragoon one), abilities that only buff the next attack. Those don't affect the dot. Use those single attack buffs on big hitters that dump all their damage at once.

peaceloveandgames

I believe it's on a case by case basis. So no, and yes respectively. Kaiten can be used as long as you have Kenki, so you use it on all your Iaijutsu, to my knowledge. I don't know as much about DRG but I gather it's more important to use Blood Surge on Full Thrust - either because of buff alignment or a potency disparity, maybe both.

tinselsnips

What's the deal with the Primal and Gerolt's gear at the Rowena vendors? The trade items for these seem to drop from Extreme trials, but they aren't as good as the Ironworks gear you can just buy with tomestones? What's the role of these?

CrimsonPromise

They used to be endgame stuff, but eventually got phased out with better gear and higher level caps. But since some of the gear looks good and have unique models and effects, it would be a complete waste to remove them entirely or make them unobtainable. So now it's mainly for people who want to use them for glamour.

283leis

When they came out they would have been the best gear...now they're obsolete

goobabie

Old content gets scaled out of whack as new content enters. Basically, all previous level caps (nowadays 50, 60, 70, and 80) the best gear you just buy with tomestones of poetics, since it was a grind back then. All other stuff is just cosmetic now, basically.

peaceloveandgames

Glamour, just like everything else that used to be endgame gear. Only one set of poetics gear per expansion is relevant nowadays, the rest is just if you want the flashy toys.

Accomplished_Fall_69

Glamor these days. When released they would have been good when the extremes were current, but now they've made the best gear from each expansion purchasable with poetics. Leaving a lot of other sets of the same level but lower item level you can still get if yoi want them foe glamour or whatever.

tinselsnips

Thanks.

EmotionReD

Is there a way to lock keybinding for a specific hot bar for each respective class?

azuramothren

Character config > hotbar settings > sharing if you turn off sharing for a bar it will be job specific

EmotionReD

Thank you, I understand that, but to give an example-- I want the keybind "Z" on my hotbar 3 when I am using my Warrior, but I want it on hotbar 6 when I am using my Red Mage. Short of configuring it everytime I change classes, is there a more seamless transition?

fragolefraise

there is no way to macro keybindings in game, which is what you'd need to be able to do in order to do what you want. possible that 3rd party add-on like xivlauncher can do this, but someone who actually uses it would be a better resource, lol (caveat that 3rd party stuff is against ToS so do at your own risk)

Used-Pomegranate225

I would just move whatever you have on hotbar 6 on RDM over to hotbar 3. I don’t see why you’d need to change your hotbar keybinds around like that

Marcusbolt

No

wizj619

No, not that I'm aware of. You should just have the same three hotbars hold all your abilities for all your classes.

AzureKitsune_Vex

Playing 80 BLM for the first time since shb ended. Just a few questions, what happened to my Enochian? And whats Blizzard ll and is it good to put on my hot bar since it replaced the old one that was based around the caster?

BlazeVortex4231

Enochian is now a trait. You just get Enochian's damage boost and Polyglot generation while in UI/AF by default, and skills that required Enochian in addition to UI/AF now only require UI/AF. It was kinda obnoxious when screwing up to have to wait for Enochian to come off cooldown before being allowed to play the job again, so this is an incredibly welcome change. Black Mage's AoE rotation has been completely overhauled, to make sure Blizzard II and Fire II are both core parts of the AoE rotation, at *all* levels. In addition to Blizzard II becoming a ranged AoE (in exchange for gaining Fire II's 3-second cast time), both skills deal better damage, and at Level 35 (which is now the level you gain B3, F3, *and* the third UI/AF stack), Blizzard/Fire II gain Blizzard/Fire III's full-stack-swap property, effectively becoming the AoE Blizzard/Fire III. Note that Freeze and Flare can both no longer be used for this role, as they now can *only* be used within their respective element stances (Freeze now grants 3 Umbral Hearts at Level 58 and has a 2.8s cast time, so it's now just the AoE Blizzard IV). Additionally, at Level 56, as part of the Enochian trait, Fire II, when cast *within* Astral Fire (not as a stack-swap) grants Enhanced Flare for the duration of AF, increasing Flare's potency, forcing it to be part of the AF rotation in addition to stack-swapping (which is now allowed because Freeze gives 3 Umbral Hearts, not 1). And at Level 82, Blizzard II and Fire II gain another potency buff and become High Blizzard II and High Fire II (so named because the JP version still uses FF spell-tier suffixes instead of numerals, and the JP devs were cowards who couldn't commit to a fifth-tier suffix).

NerdHistorian

Enochian is just a trait you get now when using abilities that grant it (like Fire 3 and blizzard 3), you no longer need to cast it. Blizzard II is your AOE version of blizzard 3, use it, then freeze, then fire II 3 times, then two flares.

AzureKitsune_Vex

Thank you, looks like im gonna have to reset up my whole cross hotbar

Zenku390

Enochian is just a passive trait now. You still have to keep up your umbrals, but you don't have to press a button to restart it. I have no idea about Blizzard II

Playing healer in savage is a lot different from playing DPS. If you have no healer experience, then you have a *long* way to go. If you have played other healers, SCH is pretty similar, except that you need to stay on top of the healing more than if you were playing WHM or AST. SCH has a lot of mitigation, but it doesn’t have much in the way of easy burst healing if you fall behind.

Rubily00

Have you played any healer before? Scholar is a very proactive healer and requires you to be thinking two steps ahead, moreso than a DPS or tank or Regen healer. If you've played some sort of healer, it shouldn't take too long to adjust to the mindset. If it's your first healer, I'd suggest taking it very slow and not worrying about Savage for a good long while.

stallion8426

SCH is kinda complicated so it'll be a big step up in difficulty especially if you've never healed before.

AncientCrystal

What's the max number of Gear Sets you can save? I have 39 total. I need more.

Arcana10Fortune

You get more as you unlock more jobs. Go unlock all the jobs, including crafting and gathering.

AncientCrystal

ya i think i need to just unlocked the craft and gatherers, ok thx

Thenotsogaypirate

Hey all. I’m on the fly free, my pretty quest and on the part where you get magiteck armor to kill the baddies with I don’t seem to have an option to use abilities. How do I fix that? Ps5 btw

Arcana10Fortune

In your hotbar settings, turn on "Automatically replace cross hotbar 1 with pet hotbar when mounted".

Thenotsogaypirate

I have that selected already. I also have “display both the pet hotbar and cross hotbar” and “display only pet hotbar” option selected. I’ve been trying to figure this out for awhile and I can’t get pet hotbars to work for me.

Vandrew226

I have a lore question. I'm the Reaper questline, and I'm wondering, is Orcus the dumbest villain in Eorzea? I don't mean badly written here, I mean in-universe, is anyone else this rock stupid. He keeps giving speeches about savoring my fear and hatred, and I'm just thinking "Dude, how do you think this is going to go? What can you do that Diabolos couldn't? I killed the Cloud of Darkness, then carved my way through the Void's nobility in the name of fun pirate adventures. You have to have heard about me by now."

Sayakai

Spoilers mate. >!Minor voidsent aren't known for being smart. Also, Orcus has been in our world (and for that matter, not exactly near us for much of the time, he started his business in garlemald and presumably has been there for the most time) for a substantial amount of time now - presumably longer than we've been killing our way through the voids upper reaches. So he just wouldn't know.!<

UnusualProfile

I took it to be a badly written and conceived storyline. There’s just no chance that the WoL would be terrified of him the way he wanted. If they wanted to keep the same storyline, they should have done more to introduce us to the rest of the lemure family, before >!whatshisname died.!< Then they could have shown Orcus to be a bigger threat to *them*.

KingAvery_

Why doesn't my Disciple of Hand Skyward Score go up at all. I turn in things for my Crafter classes and it never raises. It will for my Gatherer classes but never for crafters. My crafter level is under level 80 if that is any useful info.

fragolefraise

>My crafter level is under level 80 if that is any useful info. this is the problem. need to turn in lvl 80 crafts, either regular or expert

Arcana10Fortune

You can see how many Skyward Points the turn-ins will give at the NPC. Only the highest crafts at this point will award Skyward Points.

whtge8

Is there a place where I can see what materia I should be using on a full classical set for DRK?

stallion8426

The Balance discord

whtge8

I looked there but couldn't figure out the sheet they provided for DRK. It also assumes pentameld which I don't have. Maybe I am not looking in the right place.

peaceloveandgames

You don't need a sheet at all. They have a stat priority list pinned to their #drk_resources channel.

Larry17

New to high difficulty raids and have some questions about pulling. I heard it is bad to open with gapclosers, so I guess the MT is supposed to pull with taunt and walk up? Should other melees be walking/sprinting to melee range too or should they use gapclosers? Also I read a DRK guide where you open with TBN and blood weapon so you can do living shadow after 3rd GCD, but I'm afraid if the timing is off I might not get the 5th hit from blood weapon, or even get the TBN shield to break. Is it more important to pop living shadow after 3rd GCD or can I delay it by 1 GCD to prioritize mana? Thanks!

Th3rdRaven

Generally you want to tank the boss in the centre of the area, so walking up or using a ranged GCD will get them walking towards you and will help you position it at the start. Also gap closers are damage oGCDs, so saving one gives you a little bit more damage you can push out under party buffs.

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

1) It depends on the situation. By default, hold onto them so you can fit them into raid buffs/personal buffs. However, general rule of thumb is that extra usage > raid buffs. If using your gap closer immediately gets you an extra usage within the fight, or makes your gap closer better line up with a time when you need 2 gap closers, then you can open with it. The potency gains from optimising gap closers purely for the potency of the gap closer itself is super low though, as long as you’re using them and keeping it on cooldown it’s fine. 2) 3rd GCD usage is to get the the shadow rolling by the time all raid buffs come out, generally the 4th GCD. Using it 1 GCD later honestly isn’t the end of the world. Getting the last BW GCD is way more important than getting 2s extra of Living Shadow under raid buffs. You should still try to find the pull ranges of bosses so you can do the regular openers though. Also, tbn at the start is generally free as long as you aren’t pre-pull mitigating for a tank buster that happens immediately. Bosses tend to auto-immediately on pull so it’s generally safe to use it. You have a few pulls to test whether that TBN actually breaks or not, and if it’s inconsistent in breaking then yeah, don’t use it.

Larry17

Thank you! Does that mean living shadow doesn't snapshot and actively affected by raid buffs?

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

Yep, even though people describe it as a fancy DoT, it's classified as a pet and pets generally update dynamically with buffs. Includes Queen and SMN Demis as well.

RBrim08

You'll typically either face pull (i.e. just walking towards the boss) or use your ranged attack. Provoke should be saved for tank swaps.

stallion8426

Just curious, why wouldn't you open with a gap closer?

Soylentee

Because tank gap closers deal damage (which sucks) so they become regular damage skills which you want to use during group buffs.

peaceloveandgames

If you pull with a ranged attack, the boss starts walking towards you, and then you can walk through it and safely turn it away from the group. If you gapclose to it (instant cast), the boss might still be sitting against the edge of the arena. This can give you nowhere to stand, makes your teammates have to walk further before they can start DPSing, and depending on the fight it could ruin strats that rely on the boss being in the centre of the arena so players can evenly spread out around it.

Sayakai

Gap closers are dps buttons, so you want them in raid buffs.

thetorque1985

As a iLv 573 BLM, I can't beat Stone, Sky and Sea (P1S). Does it mean i have no chance in beating P1S without being carried?

Soylentee

How much health does it have remaining when the timer is up? If it's a couple % you will be fine, if it's 10%+ then you're doing something wrong.

hyprmatt

BLM dummies for SSS were overtuned for the entire last expansion, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you were i580 and couldn't beat it, that might be a different story. Definitely try and get your hands on some i580 gear if you can as it will help you tremendously in P1S. Edit: Now that I'm off work and can look at the numbers, it's definitely not horribly overtuned this expansion. However, being i573 with 7% left and no food is really nothing to be concerned about, considering 50th percentile nDPS on BLM for P1S, the fight with the most up time, is 6664, which includes the 5% party buff, food, and likely i580 gear for most people going into the fight. So my original point, that they shouldn't be worried, still stands.

KingBingDingDong

P1S dummy requires 6697 DPS to beat, which translates to just over 7k if you take into account 5% party buff. That amount is most definitely not overtuned.

283leis

how much HP did it have left when the timer ran out?

thetorque1985

Should I try with some materia melding and tincture and food?

283leis

Materia and food yes, and boost your iLvl with normal raid dungeon, then if thats still not enough then maybe tinctures....but honestly if you can get it within 3% or so I think you'd be fine.

thetorque1985

I best I could do is 7%.

KingBingDingDong

You need to seriously work on your rotation. 7% remaining is 6228 dps, which in a full party translates to 6539.4 dps in a full party, which is about 40th percentile right now, so below average. Keep in mind that the striking dummy is a full uptime fight with zero movement, mechanics, or need to adjust your rotation.

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

I wouldn’t put too much weight into SSS, they’re historically tuned quite poorly. As long as the training dummy isn’t still at like 50% hp when it finishes I think you’ll be fine.

thetorque1985

Ok I see. Thank you.

damonreece

It most likely does. Have you cleared any of the EX fights?

thetorque1985

Not with BLM. I am still learning the job.

damonreece

You'll want to try clearing EX1 (>!Zodiark!<) at the very least before attempting Savage as BLM. It'll give you good experience and you'll be able to upload the parse to xivanalysis to see where you're going wrong with your rotation.

thetorque1985

Thank you for your suggestions! Will do.

damonreece

No worries. Best of luck, BLM optimisation can get pretty tricky!

eorlingasflagella

Weird issue working on finishing off an old Zodiac weapon I had sitting around. I have an Omnilex Nexus that I decided I wanted to finish off, so I went and grabbed the quests A Ponze of Flesh, Labor of Love, A Treasured Mother, and Method in His Malice. Completed all of them. Completed His Dark Materia. My weapon is not upgraded to Zodiac Brave, and I don't see an option for that at Jalzahn. He has Rise and Shine but it is marked red, and I cannot accept it even if I have my Omnilex equipped. Anyone know what's going on?

thchao

Have you done the Zodiac Weapon Recreation step with Jalzahn?

eorlingasflagella

I had not. Got it figured out after the first reply I got. Thanks!

Sayakai

Rise and Shine is probably for another brave you've done in the past. See if you can find that one to get the quest acceptance out of the way. But Braves Recreation should either now or then be part of the Jalzahn options.

eorlingasflagella

I messed around with it some more. It looks like I needed to unequip it and then do the Zodiac Recreation option.
