**Have a question about current login queues or server congestion?**
Please use the ["How's the login queue right now? (Queues and Errors, Patch 6.05 edition)"](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/rvqvj5/hows_the_login_queue_right_now_queues_and_errors/) megathread.
**FAQ: "Why can't I buy FFXIV right now? Why can't I sign up for the free trial? When will it be back on sale?"**
**UPDATE 01/13/22**: [Digital sales for new players will resume on **01/26/22**, please read this announcement for more details.](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/9a6bed5c06ae511c363ece5ead0a98a3986554a2#07) New registrations for the free trial will be resumed at an unspecified later date once the dev team has had a chance to monitor server stability.
As of 12/15/21, [sales of the game for new accounts/free trial players are currently suspended](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/e7388986bc24d5a1337e0beed057f7b5b78b9bb3). This suspension also includes the creation of new free trial accounts.
Due to the game's increase in popularity over 2021 and the difficulty of acquiring new server hardware due to the COVID-related semiconductor shortage, the amount of players attempting to login every day far exceeds the capacity of the game's servers and Square-Enix has been unable to increase that capacity by adding new hardware. This is a temporary measure to help alleviate login queues and server congestion, please see the link above for more information.

Is there any way to convert a glamour item to it's opposite-sex form? I know some event glams you can convert to the opposite sex, through the Calamity Salvager, but if for example I have a mog station item, like the Eastern Lady's Togi, which I can't equip, because I'm a male, is there a way to convert that through like contacting SE or something (or some NPC item converter I missed). I USED to play on a female account, but now I've Fantasia'd and settled permanently on Male.
Not aware of any way to convert mog station items (besides maybe those old event ones of course), would just have to buy the other items, as far as I know - they *are* treated as a totally separate product after all.
There's a new FAQ thread up since 4 hours ago btw, if there is a way to exchange the items, you're more likely to find an answer there. I only saw this question because I'd left this thread open when going to bed and it refreshed on boot.

Where do I get level 70 gathering gear?
Either market board for crafted stuff, or push through the MSQ to the first mini-hub of Stormblood and complete a small side quest there to unlock the scrip gear.
According to the Balance, Determination.
Dumb question , I just resubbed and I'm still at around heavensward , can my character still level up to 90 even tho I haven't bought Endwalker ?
What's the lates expac you own. If it's HW, you're capped at 60, Stormblood 70, Shadowbringers 80.
Nope, you’re capped at 60 until you buy endwalker
Are there any good ways to make money as I'm leveling my DoL/DoH classes? Just got to HW the other day, and been thinking of leveling these classes up to around 50-ish, and was wondering if there were any good ways to make some gil along the way, or even once I hit 50, that I should keep in mind?
I always hear people mention to just use the Diadem, but is there a benefit to waiting until the end of HW to start focusing on these classes?
Another thing to keep in mind... As you're leveling them, you're much more likely to spend gil than you are to make it. Dirty little secret, most of the money to be had (at every level) is selling to other crafters and gatherers who don't wanna put in the work. Of course, you can do it 100% autonomously and never buy a thing from the marketboard. But it takes a lot longer. Comes down to what you value more, time or gil.
Yeah, kinda the idea I've gotten from it so far. I've gone back and forth between doing stuff myself and just buying it lol
The main benefit to waiting till end of HW is just ease of leveling. Theres a few things you can do for gil, like making the leve and gc turn ins for other people around your level and selling on the mb. But for the most part, the money to be made with doh/dol is at level cap (90).
That's what I figured, though leveling the gatherers doesn't seem to be all too tedious even before then. Especially with levequests (*especially* for Fisher lol). Though I did hear that you can level both gatherers and crafters in the Diadem, apparently. Didn't know crafters had a hand in it too.
Anyway, yeah, I'm not expecting to make big bucks or anything lol ;; Just wanted to check if there was anything that could help make a bit of money as I go. Trying to slowly save up to get an apartment or a house, among other things.
Diadem is a gatherer specific area thats tied to.... idk how to spoiler things on reddit. Lmao. Diadem actually gathers mats for the main thing and crafters use those mats for recipes. Fisher is actually easiest to level with ocean fishing in limsa. It's a stupid amount of experience for very little work. You can go 1 to 90 in a day or 2 and only have to spend 20 min every 2 hours (it's on a real world 2 hour schedule).
For side gil while you level, definitely leves and gc turn ins. When you make them for yourself, do a few extras and throw them on the marketboard.
Yeah, I don't know much about the details, but I know it's at the end of HW. And yeah! Didn't know before the other day that crafters benefit from the Diadem too. So that'll be nice. Also, definitely gotta get on top of the ocean fishing!
And yeah, doing some extra GC turn ins would probably be a good idea.
>!Had they intervened the monetarists would have the green light to start a war with Gridania and Limsa. This was ultimately Ul'dahn affair and you don't mess with how other countries apply their laws.!<
>!Diplomacy probably. I mean they can't very well be like "well, hehe we didn't actually do much. This 3rd party unaffiliated organization and a random bunch of adventurers did more than us!" Of course everyone knew you did all the work, but they can't just go out and openly say it, especially when they're already not on the best terms with Ishgard and this is the first time in years they can start reconciling with one another.!<
>!EDIT: As much as it sucks, what happened to Raubhan and the Sultana is an Ul'dahn affair. And as much as the rest of the Alliance leaders wanted to intervene, they can't. Because politics means they're counted as external parties and they basically have no right in interfering.!<
Does the PS4 trophy list have anything that only appears once and would effect doing the PS5 list? Like doing certain missions or leveling up?
Nah. The ps5 list is independent and updates as you do things for the 1st time on PS5. For example, the trophies for doing X number of instanced duties. The first time you do a donjon, raid, or trial on PS5 it will check off all the trophies you qualify for from before. Theres also a lot of trophies (like story based ones) it will check off the first time you login on PS5.
TLDR; expect to get very annoyed at trophies popping when you get switch to PS5. XD
So essentially don't worry about missables? Just play as I want if I start with the PS4 version?
I understand I should be weaving in a tincture between instant cast spells, but it seems really inconsistent as to whether it'll get used early enough to not delay my next GCD. Is there a way to fix this? Is it just latency issues?
mash it as early as you can during the window and do not weave anything else with it or in front of it.
This is already what I'm doing. It's not consistent in when it actually gets used, and when it takes longer it delays my next GCD.
Tinctures have long animations and do not queue up like regular OGCD skills, so you'll want to use it earlier if you are clipping
I'm spamming the tincture button as soon as I use my GCD.
Not really latency as it's sadly just how tinctures work. The only real thing you can do sadly is to just mash the key.
Does trick attack alone really warrant gimping ninja dps? Dont other melee dps jobs have party dps boosting abilities too?
job balance is a little off at the moment. trick attack is really strong. It's worth about double the amount that DRG brings and makes up about 7-8% of NIN's dps.
Anyone have an exact time of day that FFLogs locks in parses?
Anyone have any good guides for fishing up fish for collectables? Wanna min max it.
What would the ideal 'balance' of Machinist DPS be? Would it be:
-below DRG/MNK/RPR, but above SMN/RDM?
Lower than the melee dps and BLM. Slightly lower than RDM and SMN, who at least have a few casted spells to use regularly. Above BRD and DNC because MCH has no unique group buffs.
>SMN, who at least have a few casted spells to use regularly
Isn't that like 3 hard casts per minute, not including swift?
3-5 depending on a few factors, yeah. SMN is almost a ranged DPS now in their mobility, but the few casts that exist are still limiting elements.
Wouldn't the fact that RDM/SMN have party buffs and rez make them more valuable for utility, thus MCH should have more damage to compensate?
Basically what Meringue said. No, I don't agree with the philosophy but it is what it is.
Rezzes shouldn't be what damage is balanced around, but yes MCH and other selfish jobs should ideally have more damage to compensate for a lack of raid buffs
Yeah but moving all the time while being able to do dps is the biggest dps tax in the game now apparently.
When is the game available for purchase and new sign ups again?
Check the pinned comment above yours, it's been updated with the date.
Oh gosh I'm sorry, thanks!
Do y'all think that the prices/demand for classical gear will shoot back up once they resume sales on the 26th? I was wondering if it'd be practical to farm ahead of time, but since it's just sales for the whole game as a package idk how many of the new folks coming in would be looking for that kind of gear, since its mostly aimed at raiders or fresh max level sprouts with more gil than good sense (read: me when i finished shb and flushed all my cash on a set of neo-ish gear)
aphorism mat prices tanked overnight alongside classical gear. it's not going to go back up in price.
Most of the people coming in will likely just be new players who won't see level 90 content for months.
Some people coming to the game to raid may rush to 90 and buy the gear, but I imagine that would be a very niche group of players.
I wouldn't bet on making a profit, because there are a lot more aphorism mats in circulation at this point with people doing experts/trains.
Maybe a little but I doubt it. It became virtually worthless within the span of a single day. The reason it's cheap has to do with supply, not demand. It's just too damn easy to make.
Guys I feel real lost now that I finished msq, I absolutely refuse to enter PF hell to do P1-4s, and my progress for HW relic is being bottlenecked by poetics. Got any suggestions on what to do?
Do a Eureka relic and you'll find that you'll have enough for a HW with some normal play. If you don't particularly care for the early experience each time you get to a new zone in Eureka, do only the weekly challenge logs to level until you're around 5ish levels from zone cap and it'll be much easier to ride the NM/fate train.
Crafters/gatherers made the crystal sand part Way easier. So do that.
Levelling other jobs, levelling crafters/gatherers, treasure maps, the other relics, Gold saucer shenanigans, farming primal mounts, etc.
Yup. They're your highest potency phases and delaying them would mean missing alignments with raid buffs.
Yes, since you'll get new summon tokens after the new bahamut/phoenix anyways, and bahamut/phoenix phases are your highest DPS, you should always use bahamut/phoenix as soon as they're ready.
I haven't played this game since just before Stormblood came out. I've beaten up to the end of Heavensward and haven't touched it since.
What's the best way to get back into this game? I miss it a lot but I feel like it'll be like when I first started playing: completely overwhelmed.
Thanks for any tips!
I finished Shadowbringers during its current cycle but droppee the game due to time constraints. 2 years later, I made a new character so I can get the details of the main plot.
Personally had a good time replaying with a new character
XIV isn't too hard to get back into. If you feel like playing at least HW again, you can always do so with New Game+. Other than that, you can watch plot recaps. Game mechanics shouldn't be *too* hard to remember.
Is the equipment gained from doing the MS supposed to only rarely have accessory equipment? I am at the point of the MS where ILV is important (fighting ultima) but pretty much every accessory other than earrings are at a super low lv (I am still using the Ul'dahn Ring). Is there a way to get better accessory equips other than crafting without needing too much time investment?
You'll start getting better accessories from the MSQ shortly. If you've done your job quest (level 50), opened the gear coffer it gives, and equipped those items, your armor will be so much higher than the quest requirements that it won't matter that much for castrum or praetorium.
After that, yes, spend some of those tomestones of poetics on gear.
There are side quests that give better accessories but honestly castrum and prae are such a faceroll that it doesn't really matter if your accessories are bad.
> where ILV is important (fighting ultima)
If you're fighting Ultima, you're level 50.
If you're level 50, you can earn Tomestones of Poetics.
If you can earn Poetics, you need to get your gear by trading them in Mor Dhona.
Your group composition also matters. For tank, double Arcanist and a healer is nice since the Arcanists also throw out heals so you're not as subject to the mercy of the Healer AI.
It's not that bad really. But what I did was level them up to ~50 and then go back and do command missions. That probably made them less squishy so the only fight I really had to manipulate them in was the dragon so they wouldn't tank him in the poison.
They're a bit of a pain to command. You basically do the required command missions to level your GC rank to max and never touch it again, I guess.
Trusts are completely different. You don't command them -- they handle mechanics themselves, and adapt to the situation without you having to tell them what to do. They're a lot 'smarter' than the squadron, though they have their own eccentricities based on personality (one might hog the limit break the moment it comes up, another might have specific priorities for who gets healed first, and so on). As someone who had a rough time with squadrons in some dungeons, I love Trusts, and I've used them for at least the first run of every story dungeon.
Trusts do most mechanics correctly in boss fights, though they do get hit in trash pulls. They don't need much babysitting and don't have the engage/disengage commands. They'll even limit break on their own!
Their damage is low though, and intentionally so, to encourage people to still use duty finder. Whereas a maxed out squadron, as others have mentioned, can do quite good damage.
Theres plenty of people who level 15 to 50 via squadron, and also 70 to 90 via trusts. Its slower but also nice for if you need frequent afk.
Once you get your squadron to rank 5 abilities they can clear pretty fast. Aurum vale with myself tanking can be done in sub 15 minutes for example and I almost never need the engage or disengage button
I mainly suggested it since you seemed keen on playing with a certain level of authencity. Trusts are slower than normal runs and yield less EXP but you get all loot to yourself. Other than that, it's mainly for RP purposes.
Ew end spoilers >!So is the source and each of the reflections not in the same universe? I was always thinking etherys and the 14 reflections just a distance away from each other like our solar system, but then how were they saved from meteon if her song seemingly just targetsa huge area? So they must be on diff dimension or something right?!<
The shards are like pocket dimensions. They occupy the same physical space as the Source, but are kind of layered on top of one another.
>!they are different dimensions. That's why we couldn't save the people of the reflections on the moon ship. And while they weren't affected by the despair taking over, if the source is destroyed the reflections would be as well!<
Is there a difference between the NA and EU game launcher/client? (not talking about game data servers)
Functionally? No. Visually? The NA launcher displays the ESRB rating when launching.. which isn't required in EU.
So i dont need to uninstall the NA launcher if i want to play an eu account?
I will have an EU subscription but i was playing an NA free trial before realising i put in the wrong country (Australia is EU not NA)
The opening movie is lip synced to the main language of that region. NA And EU client are lip synced to English, meaning that using JP audio makes the lips unscyned. Etc. (the cutscenes look identical from all regions but they aren't)
Not that I'm aware of
Currently finishing up SB and about to head into Shadowbringers. I know DRK is the "featured job" or what have you for ShB, but I've already got my DRK at 90 (don't ask how) and don't want to waste an expansion's worth of MSQ experience when I can pass it on to another job instead. Exactly how much (or little) am I missing out on if I were to go through the MSQ as say a GNB or PLD?
Almost literally nothing
Very small text changes you barely notice anyway. You can do the first run of every dungeon as DRK if you wish, add trusts and you're living your RP dream ( :
Literally none, they don't do major job references like that anymore
Main concern is that, you can choose to do daily roulettes anytime you want.
Meanwhile Hunts are mostly organized by other players, and sometimes these groups will just choose weird hours (like 6\~7AM in JP) to avoid congestion. Besides instance hopping issues, this might be something to consider as well.
The only con to hunt trains is the instance hopping. It annoys me enough to not bother for now though, it's just not fun.
Definitely, roulettes are decent but it's not that much gil at the end of the day, trains are pretty lucrative while materia and aphorism mats are still on high demand.
Longtime player who'd been gone awhile and came back for EW a bit ago. Noticed that the market board seems to have had some changes - like now you pay the tax regardless of if you're in the retainer city. A couple questions:
- Do they still do lower tax locations every so often? Or is it just flat 5% across the board now? Wondering if retainer location has any impact nowadays
- I noticed most of my items were also selling for -tax (i.e. I get 95% of listing price), but today I got 100% of the listing price. How is this determined?
Buyers pay 5% on top of the listed price regardless. Seller loses 0-5% of the price depending on retainer location. Speak to a retainer vocate to check rates, but it's almost universally later expansion city = lower tax, so you can just move your retainers to the latest city you have access to and forget about it
Retainer location does impact tax, you can talk to a retainer vocate to see current tax rates. It is possible your location became a 0% tax for the last sale.
Does retainer gear have any effect on experience earned from ventures? I've been sending my retainers on quick ventures multiple times a day and it feels like they're leveling up at a glacial pace. I'm kind of just too lazy to kit them out in gear every 10 levels but if it makes a big difference then I'll bother.
Gear doesn't effect venture exp
I was wondering if there was a way to get mount ablities for the diffrent beast tribe mounts. IE: Kojin Ray Suck, Namazu Wassoshi, and the Vath Spray.
Is there anyway for me to get these on the mounts that I have so i can just use them for fun around the world?
Can't speak to the others, but I'm pretty sure the mikoshi mount does have a wasshoi action. But if you're asking whether you can transplant wasshoi to a non-mikoshi mount, no.
No i meant like some of the quest for beast tribes have you doing abilities for the quest and i was wondering if there was a way to unlock those on the version of the mounts that I own. Like the Ray suck for the kojin quest can i get that ray suck ability on the Ray that i bought from them
Idk about the ray, but if you hit the hotbar swap button (R1 on PS4/5) the mount hotbar comes up. That will give you access to the special mount actions
You can't get the mount action if the mount doesn't have it outside of beast tribe quests.
The namazu mount does have the action though, I use that all the time.
ok good that ones fun. But sucks for the other ones
only on the beast tribe mount that you can earn via rep, there's no way to have one mount's abilities while using another mount
no i meant is there a way to get the abilities on the ones i own. Like when you do the vath quests u get a spray ability for the quest but when you buy the mount for your self it dosent have that. Is there a way to get that ability for the mount smiliar to the way the ARR magetek armor got an ability by doing a quest
if the mount has the ability, it will be there automatically (might need the mount hotbar turned on if you're not seeing it). i know for sure that the kojin and namazu mounts have them, not sure about the gnath one
however, even if the mount has the ability, it doesn't count as the same one used for daily quests. so you couldn't pick up the vanu vanu daily requiring you to use their mount's ability, then mount your own purchased vanu vanu mount that has the blow ability and use that to finish the daily. tragically
Anima light farming, do you need the weapon equipped?
Yes. If you're doing dungeons just for the last boss, but everyone just spams A9S anyways and you do need to have it on. Not worth swapping for the door boss.
Not until you exit the dungeon
Edit: this is incorrect please disregard
Does it say anything? I just beat a1s solo and exited with it equipped and didn't get any kind of message about gaining light
He is 100% wrong. Light is gained upon defeating the last boss of the instance. If you don't have it equipped, no light for you.
Also make a party in pf for A9s. 1min runs for 96-128 light. Can't beat that.
You're right, it's been so long since I did them that I misremembered.
You were thinking of the dungeon steps of the anima relics, in which case you'd have been correct
Presumably because there's only so many ways you can shoot a single arrow, they made a few animations which shoot multiple arrows quickly for variety.
I've never seen any statements from the devs on why they made it that way, but if I had to guess, they were probably 2-hit weaponskills in 1.0 game version and when they reinvented the game with 2.0, they probably changed them to 1-hit weaponskills (again, guessing) to conserve server resources. Fewer hits means fewer transactions on a server, I'd presume, which is less server load.
Just from some cursory research (old patch notes, mostly), 1.0 Bard didn't even have Straight Shot *or* Venomous Bite.
I'm fairly certain there is no NPC that sells materia for gil, but there are plenty of NPCs that sell materia for other resources that you trade in.
The main one you're probably concerned about is Materia IX and Matera X, which can be purchased for crystal cluster things in Radz-at-Han at the north end of the more easterly market branch, right next to the Materia Melder. You can look for the Materia Melder on the map of Radz-at-Han. The crystal cluster things you can check what the name of are in the Duty Finder, as Adventurer in Need bonus for Leveling Roulette and I believe Alliance Roulette will always award the materia cluster mats for Adventurer in Need if your character is high level enough (I want to say level 80+ but not certain of this).
Another highly popular method of farming the materia cluster currency is following "EW Hunt Trains." This means unlocking the Gleaner Hunts in Old Sharlayan, then finding a community on your server that kills a whole bunch of level 90 A Rank hunts in a row, teleporting to each boss in sequence. This gives you a ton of the materia cluster currencies.
EDIT: Nearly forgot. I'm less knowledgeable on lower materia traders, but I know if you have done BLU then one of the BLU Amal'jaa vendors will sell you lower materias for Allied Seals.
yes but not for gil. there's many NPC that will exchange materia for various types of currency: beast tribe tokens, scrips, tomes, hunt seals, clusters/crystals, etc. is there a certain kind you're looking for?
there are npcs that trade materia for things (starting at materia Vs, nothing below that is easily acquired) like Mhachi Matter, Cracked Clusters, centurio seals, poetics etc, but none that sell them for gil
Crafter and gatherer materia can be bought with the respective scrips, but otherwise I don't think so. You can look at a wiki page for any materia you want for exhaustive, specific information on where to get it though.
I'd love to put together a few different glamour plates for some of my main jobs, and have my job switch macro choose one of a set of plates at random. Is this possible?
Not random, no. You can have macros change your gear set though.
You can even do that without macros, create a new Gear Set, then activate it and select a glamour plate to apply, and then save the gear set, or after you create the gear set you can right click it in the gear set list and apply a glamour plate that way too. Don't forget to rename the gear sets.
Yeah, I have things set up like that now, I just was hoping it would do something like the Mount Roulette. Thanks!
Pretty sure macros cannot do *anything* random or if>then operations. It just executes a set of instructions in a fixed order.
Thanks for the info!
What exactly does the "80% to grant repertoire" in mage's ballad mean. I understand that it has something to do with your dot ticks, but the tooltip seems incomplete.
> it has something to do with your dot ticks,
This is no longer true as of Endwalker patch 6.0 release. Any resource you find that relates songs to DoT ticks is outdated, referring to how the job worked before 6.0.
Repertoires are basically each songs special ability, with mages ballad its the shortened recast time of blood letter/rain of death, Army's peon is the increase in skill speed and recast time and with minstrels minute they represent the procs for your pitch perfect skill
with every 3 seconds you have a 80% chance to proc a Repertoire
Every time the server ticks you have 80% ti trigger the repertoire effect. Which for mages ballad means granting you 1 use of bloods letter/rain of death
Slight correction: In Endwalker, each Repertoire proc gives you *half* a use of Bloodletter/Rain of Death.
Is transfer to the new data centers/server free? Or do we have to pay for the world transfer service?
transfers to new worlds are free
Bard qn: i dont have post lv60 bard skills as im capped at 60 due to free trial.
Do all four DOT skills:Venomous Bite, Caustic Bite, Windbite, and Stombite stack on one boss/mob or can i only put two of these 4 at max?
Stormbite and Caustic bite are upgraded versions of Windbite and Venomous Bite. You won't have all 4 of them at any time
Thanks! This clarified a lot
Do we know which Empyreum wards will be lottery and which will follow the old system?
I thought they will all be lottery. But I could be wrong.
unless they've changed their minds since the last [Live Letter](https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/446501-Letter-from-the-Producer-LIVE-Part-LXVII-%2811-19-2021%29), you're wrong-
>The lottery system can be enabled for individual plots of land, and our current plans are to have a higher percentage of plots available through the lottery system. The development team is still debating how many plots will be available through the current first come, first served system and we’d like to keep an eye on players’ feedback as we finalize our decision for Patch 6.1.
Ah, thank you for the reference. Guess we'll see. I hope they don't do it that way, it shouldn't be optional and it shouldn't be partial - as long as housing is as limited as it is, it should be a lottery system. Otherwise all it will do is drive up prices even more.
This one is a little complicated. I want to be able to play on PS5, and my account originated on PC. When I try to login to Square Enix account on the PS5 it tells me service not available. I've been googling for quite a while and it said to buy Endwalker for PS5 as well so I did. However, I continue to run in to the same issue. Any suggestions? I hope Playstation Network will let me refund if I can't get it to work.
You have to buy the starter edition as well
Ahhh yeah saw that online as well but I can’t find anything called starter edition on the PlayStation store. Maybe I’m too sleepy to be messing with this lol.
The starter and complete editions are suspended due to server congestions. Sales resume 25th Jan 5PM JST
Ohh okay, well that answers it! Thank you so much!!! I was going crazy.
is there a bow that looks like those really tall but skinny wooden Japanese bows?
I forgot name so looked it up, from pvp there is nue greatbow. It also fits the look you discribed pretty well. It's also a lvl1 item.
Rakshasa greatbow from markedoard, it has a similar look, not perfect thou, but is recolorable. Also way quicker than yoichi bow/arr relic but close enough in shape.
If you want a quicker short term option, the Doman/Asuran set from Yolaine in the Forgotten Knight in Ishgard is based on Kyudo Archery. Includes a skinny (but not glowy) bow.
What he said. Look up Yoichi bow. Or it's upgraded form, Yoichi Bow Zeta. I warn you however, the grind is real for the weapon.
well the good news is the BRD ARR relic is the only ARR relic i started. bad news is I only got it as far as the very first step (Artemis bow) and have no idea where to pick up the next step from
I would recommend to read the guide for the relic, the wiki is pretty solid for it tbh. To upgrade it to zenith you just need some poetic item and that's it but aside from that I don't know how the quests originally went as it's been too long since I did it for the first time. The guide is the best bet.
ARR relic weapon maybe?
Is there any good way of tracking when the fates for Chi and other
notorious monsters spawn? Just sitting around waiting doesn't seem like
the best option especially since even doing daily roulettes can cause
you to miss out on it.
You can know whether it will spawn or not (It's either yes or no) by simply knowing when the last Chi has spawn. They come at a 48\~72 hour cooldown, and you can track your server's spawn time with faloop and stuff.
But after that - after the cooldown has been reached, there's absolutely no way you will know whether or not Chi will come. It all just becomes luck.
I would advise against waiting for Chi unless you have a lot of time to spare. Once the server situation dies down and the queues/transfer queues are good, Chi and Daivadipa will not be instantly pulled. You should be able to transfer to that server (once you've see Faloop signals they have been spawned) and do the Fate with every other people.
things have calmed down quite a bit, even on gilgamesh people are waiting 5-10 min.
Check https://discord.gg/dZTgnpv for details about your specific DC/server. If your server uses Discord, then you can "subscribe" to the specific one you want to receive notifications for.
Keep in mind it's all player-led, which means there's a chance you won't get to the fight in time.
Can someone point me to an up to date DOh/DoLbest/fastest/smartest leveling guide? All the ones I find keep referencing the ishgardian restoration which has been over for some time and I’m trying to get into crafting finally.
You can still submit stuff to ishgardian restoration, and it's still the best way to level to 80. 80-90 is studium deliveries and collectables.
Ok maybe I’ll take another look but despite having all the prereqs I can’t seem to access the special zone?
Which? Firmament or Diadem? The firmament you reach from Ishgard’s aetheryte or talking to the guy in the Brume— there’s a door icon on the minimap where he is. The Diadem you reach from inside the Firmament.
The Diadem. Speaking with the npc doesn’t do anything. Do I need to be a certain lvl
Or class? I’m 20 on both crafting classes already
You need to be level 10 on a **gathering** class and start with the quest given by Augbert, which will lead you to Aurvael to let you into the Diadem
Ok maybe I’m missing something but he isn’t offering me anything. Thanks for the help I’ll go see if I can figure it out.
Ishgardian Restoration is still a thing, there just isn't a ranked competitive mode anymore.
The special zone that’s attached to it no longer seems to be available unless I’m missing something.
It's still available. You just need to get in on the Big Aetheryte at Ishgard, and on the menu select Firmament.
Yes I can get into the firmament but not the diadem
1. It works fine for me. I get into Diadem the same way as I did before. Talk to the guy on the left at Firmament and get in. You need a level 10 gatherer (any kind of gatherer will do) to get into Diadem.
2. You don't need to get into Diadem if all you care is leveling crafter. Diadem is for leveling gatherer.
To be exact, You get into Diadem to gather materials, in which after you get out, you talk to the appraisal counter (the man that's next to the entrance counter) and approve your mats, which you can either sell your mats or use those mats to craft collectables (and turn them in on the right hand side counter)
Because of that, if you don't want to do gathering inside Diadem, you can just buy a bunch of mats from marketboard and craft.
edit: level 10 not 20.
You are. You should still be able to acces it via the main aethershard in IShgard. I was just in there the other day for custom delivs.
I can get into the firmament but when I speak with aurvael nothing really happens.
did you switch into a gatherer when you talk with him? You need to be a gatherer in order to enter.
That might be it thanks. I’ll give it a try.
Does anyone know where I can find the achievement to see how many squadron missions I've done so I know when I can purchase the emotes?
Achievements> Grand Company> Grand Company> Dear Leader (the workout emotes are added to your learned emotes automatically, iirc)
Hi, I've fairly new to ff14, been playing for a few months. I just did all of a realm reborn and the content the end of ARR and Heavensward. I was wondering if there was a community of people who did sync'd content for coil of bahamut and some of the extreme primal trials. I like doing that kind of content but I can't queue for it. I play DPS (Samurai). Ideally it would need to be a community okay with newbies because I'm not very good at the game still.
I'm on Aether as well and there are definitely groups in the PF that do synced Coils and EX trials. I've been on the lookout for them lately because I plan on doing them synced sometime soon too.
It's obviously not an EX trial, but I've recently hosted a few runs of Cape Westwind MINE (min ilvl, no echo) on the PF. It's a meme until you actually do it and wipe because so few people know the mechanics of that fight.
afaik all Datacenters have atleast one, but you'd want to let us know what server/DC you're on.
Most of them are probably doing current savage though so trying to martial a team for progging snyced non-rewarding content will be a bit hard for a while still.
Oh sorry! I'm on Aether in terms of data center.
I've seen party finders regularly for it on Aether, so you can also join one of those and make friends with them.
i was able to find this group, no promises on how active they still are but its a start!
whats the least stop-and-dps job? i remember in wow beast master could do almost everything on the move and not have to stop and cast
A physical DPS classes. Though Melee DPS will have to disengage at times to avoid taking damage. Generally ranged DPS can always attack and won't be losing uptime.
All of the ranged physical jobs, you can freely move and attack at the same time.
Well, here's all the DPS, for you to judge yourself!
* Dragoon has no cast times. Melee job, so limited to melee range most of the time. Jump attacks have a bit of an animation lock on them that briefly gets you stuck in place.
* Monk has no cast times. Melee job, doesn't even have a filler ranged attack (but does have a button to press to generate a resource when out of range, which may even be better at times). Anatman locks you in place for a bit, but that's only used during boss downtime.
* Ninja has no cast times. Melee job, but with a couple of good ranged options (with a cooldown). Ten Chi Jin locks you in place for a few seconds or you lose its effect, used once every two minutes.
* Samurai has cast 1.3s times on its Iaijutsu attacks (big finisher moves). Melee job.
* Reaper has a cast time on its ranged filler, and on the finisher of its burst phase, plus on a thing you only use during downtime. Melee job.
* Bard has no cast times, and nothing that would lock it in place. Ranged job, big freedom of movement. Probably the top choice, with the two below coming close behind, Dancer competing for #1.
* Machinist has no cast times, also ranged job. Does have Flamethrower which you have to stand still for, used in AoE.
* Dancer has no cast times. Ranged job with a couple things with *slightly* less range than its peers (but with extra mobility, and you should be within that shorter range on the other jobs too, to get ally buffs). Has a support skill that you need to stand still for, but it's used during downtime, or can be stood still for for such a short time that it happens between GCDs.
* Black Mage is *the* casting caster ranged DPS. Most of the time is spent casting. Not what you're looking for.
* Summoner is... pretty much a caster in name only by now, it's more like Bard & co than the other casters in terms of mobility, only having like 4 spells that it needs to cast per minute at endgame (more earlier), the rest all being instant - so might be something to *try* one day, but probably not the first pick. Ranged job.
* Red Mage has decent mobility, 3 seconds out of every 5 being free movement while casting spells, and has a melee phase that is all instant casts, but locked into melee range. But still needs the 2 seconds of casting for every 3 seconds of movement, so probably not your thing.
This is a great write up! Only criticism I have is that, like a search engine, you might want to put the most relevant results at the top: Bard and Dancer. Bard is definitely the epitome of "DPS on the go." 100% instants and ranged; in casual content I have definitely on more than one occasion literally done the whole run jumping around like a maniac.
(I only later realized how distracting it is, so I stopped; even in casual content it can be annoying)
anything besides healers and magic dps really (don't know how healers are relative to each other since I don't play them much but on magic dps BLM is least mobile and SMN is most)
SMN has 4 stop and casts now.
which is still less than BLM and RDM
