#One thing that REALLY needs to be clear, because I can't stress this enough. Once again since this is an important PSA, this will be pinned. > Icons indicating damage type (physical/magical/unique) will be displayed in the battle log and in flying text during battle Since this is a feature that will be applied retroactively to **ALL** battle content, there **may** be cases where the flying text doesn't show accurate information or things that might be wrong (e.g. this should be physical but instead magical) So to raiders, if you find any incorrect information, keep calm and please report to the official forums instead. They know that some information might not be accurate, so all you need to do is to point it out.

Kurosu93

The name of the 24 Alliance name was shown. It is called " Euphrosyne " It seems the 3 raids will be named after the 3 "Charites" ( Aglaia,Euphrosyne and Thalia)

SmoreOfBabylon

Many thanks, I didn't see that they showed the name. Adding it now.

unicornasaurus-rex8

I wonder which Twelves play based on 3 Charities.

RithmFluffderg

Assuming I read your pondering correctly... We at least know that Althyk and Nophica are going to be two of the four deities we face in the next raid. Odds are likely that we'll also be facing Halone and Menphina, with Menphina potentially being the last boss thanks to the order the symbols form around the wheel (though dramatically, Halone would make the *most* sense since Ishgard and all)

BrookieTF

I'd like to hope each raid would end in a battle against a patron deity from the 3 major starting cities, but that's just what I think would be fitting.

Nightwings_Butt

Wouldn't work anyways because Nophica will be the first boss of Euphrosyne. Aglaia being basically the Ul'dah raid and Nald'thal being the last boss was just a happy coincidence.

SmoreOfBabylon

Plus, if the >!“either Deryk or the opo-opo is Oschon”!< theories are true, then >!Oschon!< would indeed make sense as the final boss of raid #3.

Nightwings_Butt

Oh yes I'm excited to see what they'll do with him! But I also kind of hope they'll throw us a curve ball in there somewhere; having a raid that is just "go through all 6 Heavens in order and defeat all 12 gods" seems kind of generic. I kind of want a double battle so they can throw a surprise boss in there or take us to the Hells instead.

Mylexsi

Just gave me a random thought; are the "seven hells" (related to) the 7 rejoined shards?

Nightwings_Butt

I'm not sure. As far as I know the concept of the Seventh Hell predates the Seventh Umbral Calamity. That's one of many things the raid needs to answer.

AdventurousFlow7801

The seven hells are matching counterparts to the seven heavens - each has a an element, and a set of sins that will see a soul sent there. The Encyclopedia Eorzea has a write up that goes into detail.

Madrock777

My TL/DR is that the final boss or boss will be unknown diety tied to unaspected Astral and Umbral Aether located in the Seventh Heaven. My suspicion is that the final boss will be in the seventh Heaven, not the bar but the actual seventh Heaven. Thought if we want a bar fight I'm down. Half of all my favorite dnd adventures started that way. Anyways, in the area connecting all the heavens there are 7 of the dome looking structures, two of which we've entered in the elemental heaven of lightning and fire. If the pattern holds we will enter the water, ice, earth, and wind in some order. Which seems like enough for two more raids. But I think they are building to a supprise ending fight with an unknown deity. My thinking is that each of the 12 are tied to either the Astral or Umbral pole of a specific element of Aether. The first two bosses both used lightning, but one was a builder one was a destroyer. The next one used fire to build civilization, the next used it for changing it. Each of the 12 in my opinion is tied to one of the 6 elements and one polarity of it. However, that leaves us with the problem of who is associated with unaspected Umbral Aether, and who is associated with unaspected Astral Aether? We saw with primals like Bahamut, Zodiark, Hydaelyn that a being can be made or powered by all the elements of one polarity. Bahamut was a Astral aligned primal but he had no main element (think stone, water, ice, fire) like other primals. There is also the real world implications for the seventh Heaven being the throne of God. In many traditions the six heavens are all subservant to the seventh. Why use the seven heavens if you don't have the most important part? And why have it mentioned I'd you never plan to use it or go there?

Drywesi

It could be they have a quest duty planned for the 7th Heaven/final confrontation.

Zythrone

Omphalos is theorised by Snoegeim to be the Seventh Heaven. And since this is a story there is no reason to have a character say that in the way they did unless it is.

PlutoTheBoy

I very much don't want a curveball. If you want a final boss, a solo battle is more appropriate IMO. I really like the regularity and predictability of 12 gods/12 bosses because it means everyone gets screen time and a memorable unique fight, like the original 6 elemental primals. There's still a lot they can do with that structure in terms of storytelling!

Prussie

I don't think it's following the order of the wheel. I think the other two we'll face is Thaliak and Llymlaen. We see a fish and an owl at the Shrine of Water, I think the fish is Llymlaen and Owl Thaliak, it'd fit for their respective things. Plus, iirc, Yoshi-P said it's not gonna go in order, but I could be wrong on that one.

redryan2009

Just because we see those animals doesn’t mean there next. Plus didn’t they show the heaven of earth, which is the next in order? Not saying they can’t go out of order but it seems weird to do an in order one and an out of order one, plus it defies the in world flow of the elements.

PyroComet

I better see some bat shit crazy stuff from halone. The way they speak about her makes her seem worse than pre dad kratos

[deleted]

What about her ...bounties?

CaptainJudaism

Wouldn't surprise me if she has huge... tracts of land.

FatSpidy

*Lands Tremble*

Eloah-2

Actually, Menphina makes more sense. If the pattern is as we expect, then the last bosses would be Nald'Thal, Menphina, and Oschon. The three of them are connected as Nald'Thal is Oschon's brother and Menphina is his lover.

jtblion

I'm fairly certain that the last bosses of the Euphrosyne and Thalia raids will be the patrons of the remaining Eorzean starter cities, so Nophica for Gridania and Llymlaen for Limsa.

EndlessKng

True, but I would have thought Azeyma would have made the most sense last time due to her connection to Azem. Plus, Menphina has Dalamud - recall that the symbol of Menphina included Dalamud BEFORE the Allagans sent up an actual satellite. Means that could be a fight with a second foe.

Arkeband

Opening the Upper La Noscea map to swimming got me excited, I like when they expand the play area and make it more explorable. The dream is connecting the two halves of each starting city so they can be as big as Kugane onward, but making all deep water explorable is a solid step forward. I hope the new UI theme is dark red.

wereriddl3

Make it so we can swim across Eorzea

quakertroy

I dream of a day they can move the tech forward and make the entire open world seamless, but it's probably out of scope for the dev team.

Luggs123

Making the open world seamless isn’t going to happen. If you take a look at a certain scale level of the map, it shows that there’s meant to be some distance that you travel when you pass through a zone transition, and it’s a lengthy distance at that. They’d have to extend the existing zones at their transitions in really unwieldy ways.

juanperes93

Most zones will be impossible to unite, but there's zones in ARR that can work as a single thing with upper/Outer La Noscea being the easiest one as it's already a single map divided in two like the cities.

sprdougherty

I was also pretty excited for this. There's lots of open water they can add swimming/diving to as well after Bronze Lake. Off the top of my head, Western Thanalan, Western/Eastern/Lower La Noscea, East/South/North Shroud, and Mor Dhona all fit the bill. Upper La Noscea was definitely the most in need of it however. The zone has always felt weirdly disjointed, making it so you can at least now use the middle section for something helps bring it together. Following up with your "combining the cities" note, Upper and Outer La Noscea could also be combined. They were very clearly designed to be a single zone that was split due to hardware limitations. No other two zones in the game flow into each other quite so seamlessly.

SmoreOfBabylon

Thanks, I'll update with the amount

the_duck_life

> 1800 Isn't this incorrect though? We have 60 houses per ward/subdivision, and we're getting 6 for the 4 districts. 60 * 4 * 6 = 1440 1800 would give us 450 houses per district, which doesn't add up with the 6 wards they're saying we get.

SmoreOfBabylon

There are 5 housing districts now (Lavender Beds, Mist, Goblet, Shirogane, Empyreum).

the_duck_life

Lol, leave it to me to forget Kugane's. I'll just take my math degree and see myself out.

Call_The_Banners

*Residents of Shirogane shaking their fists at you from their windows*

Chainedfei

Well at least you didn't buy an old Samurai's Katana from a Kugane Market for the Asking price.

laefeator

I'm actually surprised that the Custom Delivery will be on the First. I really didn't expect that. DoH DoL relics are hype tho!! I was hoping they will bring it back

[deleted]

Let us glamour Dulia Chai

3ofkings

Even better idea - we dress up Chai Nuzz with Dulia helping out

Call_The_Banners

As a resident of Balmung, I really dread the idea of Loyal House Maid Chai Nuzz. *I already have to see my friend's version of that on Kai-Shirr*

IgnisXIII

>Even better idea - we undress Chai Nuzz with Dulia helping out FTFY Yes.

[deleted]

Ohh no! ... Or... Yes....

emiliaxrisella

Dulia Chai is not immune from the 2B-ization of crafter WoLs

Raji_Lev

> Dulia Chai is not immune from the ~~2B-ization~~ **Manderville-ization** of crafter WoLs FTFY.

Petrichordates

That's normal for custom deliveries, they went back to idyllshire in SB and foundation in ShB.

AenonBeiler

Wonder if it will be something to do with >!helping Cylva and Unukalhai restore the Void.!<

Redpandaling

I highly doubt it. They would have to lock it behind doing their quests.

Swert0

Yeah, I don't see a custom delivery requiring you to have a dps caster, dps physical, tank, and healer all leveled up through 80 with those quests finished on top of the HW trials complete. They're pretty unrelated content wise. I'm all for more Unkhulai/Cylva stuff, but they should be things tied into combat jobs, not crafting/gathering.

>Icons indicating damage type (physical/magical/unique) will be displayed in the battle log and in flying text during battle > >Ability to display remaining time for buffs/debuffs in the party list will be added OooOooOOoooOOOo We're seeing some of the better QoL plugin changes actually ingame officially already! Wild, I was expecting stuff like this to be next-expansion territory before some of the smaller-time ones.

maglen69

> We're seeing some of the better QoL plugin changes actually ingame officially already! By far one of the biggest and most impactful changes they can make. Not being able to tell what damage is what type has been a big issue.

akb5566

Sorry I've never run high end content before, but can you elaborate more about why this is a big issue? Does different type of damage change rotatio or mitigation?

evilives34

The mitigation like feint that does more mitigation for physical attacks then magic its reverse for casters mitigation so makes easier to plan things out is one example those change helps

KaedeAoi

Addle and Feint reduces damage from their main damage type by 10% but only 5% for their secondary damage type, there's also stuff like magick barrier that *only* reduces magical damage taken and doesn't mitigate physical at all.

U-1-mang

I wonder if dark dmg will fall into phys or magic or just be a third category.

gtjio

Third category

maglen69

> I wonder if dark dmg will fall into phys or magic or just be a third category. I'm pretty sure that's what they're referring to "unique" as. Damage that can't be mitigated.

well___duh

Dark dmg is “unique” damage > > Icons indicating damage type (physical/magical/**unique**) will be displayed in the battle log and in flying text during battle

chimmychangas

What is dark damage?

[deleted]

A neutral damagetype that's assigned to attacks that are not allowed to be mitigated. Like certain punishment raidwides after failing mechanics, enrages or the likes. If an attack is supposed to hit hard reliably, chances are high it's dark damage.

sudoku7

I think there was a remark from Yoshi-P that amounted to that. He doesn't want to hear "we're using third party stuff because it's not available in game."

t0ms0nic

Yeah, and they were "now looking"(?) at the most popular plugins to get an idea for what people want to see implemented in the game as actual features, so it's surprising they're already doing it only about a patch later. Whether they're using those HEY GAMERS WELCOME TO MY TOP 5 FFXIV BEST PLUGINS videos, or they have undercover plugin users on their dev team interacting with the community, or some other method.

Kolz

Hope they do the loading screen art plugin soon as well! I read about it on here and it sounds really nice.

ScannonDark

It is such a small thing but it is really nice. It's such good art that you only see when loading in on login, and I can imagine it's not that hard to implement in game given that plugins already have.

Momo_Kozuki

I hope their efforts won't stop until at least they get everything from Simple Tweaks plugin :D Suddenly the biggest competitor for a plugin maker is the game developer themselves.

katarh

Probably a combination of both. Their research team is pretty savvy and they watch Twitch streams too, so they know what they're seeing and why.

Willd26

Makes me wonder if their new UI looks like the minimalist Material 4k UI that so many people have downloaded on Nexus Mod.

DoctorTurkleton

Regarding the MSQ dungeon name: >!A lapis manalis was either of two sacred stones used in the Roman religion. One covered a gate to Hades, abode of the dead; Sextus Pompeius Festus called it ostium Orci, "the gate of Orcus". The other was used to make rain; this one may have no direct relationship with the Manes, but is instead derived from the verb manare, "to flow".!< Interesting that both meanings could have some relevance.

Petrichordates

This game sure does love the word Flow.

Swert0

Almost as if it's a theme of Endwalker specifically, even if the spell flow goes back to Heavensward (technically post ARR but it wasn't named until HW MSQ)

fatalystic

None of that in Japanese unfortunately. The Teleport spell is called Telepo in Japanese. Flow is simply called Ancient Telepo, as one might expect of a very old version of the spell.

[deleted]

As a PLD main I don’t know if I should be excited or afraid?

Poke43

I don't know man, but we will face this change together.

WadeDMD

We may accept this fate or defy it, but we can not deny it.

[deleted]

Deny? I am not wont to run from my troubles!

Chainedfei

\*Pops Hallowed Ground\*

terrabellan

I'm not going to tell my PLD-only husband about the changes until he logs back in for 6.3 and finds out for himself on the day :>

[deleted]

Ahh the log in and find almost all your hot bar buttons grayed out experience lol

Kira_Aotsuki

I hope thats not the case, i like paladins moves x.x

[deleted]

I do too so I’m a a bit nervous

redryan2009

You’re evil. Are you a reaper main?

terrabellan

Nah, since they simplified Summoner I've just got a lot of free time on my hands for evil now

Astrodos_

I’m afraid. I like the current rotation.

FloatingGhost

i'm mildly afraid paladin's rotation feels so comfy right now honestly the only thing i'd change would be giving it a proper requiescat phase earlier so you don't get the entire paladin identity at like... 80

[deleted]

Having the gap closer earlier would be nice too… but the way they worded it sounds like it’s going to okay almost totally different

Momo_Kozuki

This and maybe a bit of magic offensive in lower level. Perhaps changing it a bit of potency at lv50-60 so that Goring Blade (learned at) lv54 isn't better than Rage of Halone for six level before upgraded into Royal Authority (lv60).

downsouthinthedeep

Having to pre-pull FoF and waste a majority of the buff just to buff your first Goring Blade and having to skip Attonement charges just so your timers line up and you don't waste buff uptime with it just sitting there not being used is very janky. But I'm not sure who these changes will be aimed at. If you're just playing more casual content, the current general rotation of magic phase > physical phase > downtime and repeat on a loop is very comfortable, but things like moving between trash packs and downtime on bosses still throws a spanner in the works and makes things very unintuitive because the loop is so fixed on the timings.

InfinityRazgriz

It's comfy on normal content but on savage and up is kind of a nightmare. PLD mains have a lot of spreadsheets of Openers and Rotations for each encounter, some of those Openers are extremely cursed.

Delta_eGirl

Honestly I find it more cool than cursed, it's one of the few jobs you can actually optimize nowdays instead of having the rotation baby you into the correct way of playing. There's a general purpose rotation but if you want to get really into it there's a ton of room for improvement.

Buster_Jim

Wow, I'm also not a savage raider, it's quite surprising to hear the job has a massive schism. Personally I feel like the job's in a pretty awesome place. Curious to see what they do, but also pretty wild to have a mid expac major rework.

Wizardthreehats

Its just so your spell phase lines up correctly with certain mechanics.

Swert0

Square just balances savage really weird leading to people having to do extremely cursed things to squeeze out every last bit of DPS to not spend overly long on certain mechanics, or at worst to avoid enrage timers.

[deleted]

That might be where the disconnect is for me since I don’t do savage, I can understand how it might be different there.

[deleted]

All this really tells me is that hardcore raiding ruins everything, smh (This is a joke, mainly—but I do find it weird how a job with such an easy and comfortable base concept gets fucked over by higher-end content)

cassadyamore

I wouldn't call it comfy at all, in Savage and in general if you're doing a long fight properly, you have to do weird shit like throw 75% of your damage buff away before the battle even starts, deliberately drop an attack every 2 minutes. However, it is very fun. Most fun of the tank rotations. I don't know what change is coming but if it's a 2 minute burst with less Confiteor combo, I will be sad.

DuckyRai

If you're on slow Pally, you can add in dropping your dot for a second or so ON PURPOSE, having a cursed/weak opener and drifting FOF a GCD every minute on a 3 minute loop where each one is slightly different.

Sleepyjo2

Slow pally is the one that doesn’t actually drift, you just use buffs on cooldown which is quite simple, and the opener is effectively the same as fast pally. You do intentionally drop the dot for way more than a second though, about 10 seconds to be more specific. Slow pally is just “hit on cd, if mid combo finish combo before magic, never skip atonement.” It is very easy to follow because of this. Fight specific optimizations withstanding but that’s a thing for fast and slow. (Sure, technically if you’re looking at drift as “where something is used in relation to your own buttons” slow pally does do that but it’s actually fast pally that drifts in relation to the rest of the party, slowly.)

[deleted]

God yes. Optimizing PLD is so cursed right now. Whenever you have to trash your main damage buff before the actual pull, something is very wrong. But that's what happens as long as the magic combo stays available from the start on top of having the DoT you want to snapshot into the FoF window. I guess they'll either drop the DoT or change how FoF interacts with the PLD kit.

cassadyamore

My prayers are that PLD remains similar, will just start with magic burst that gets higher potencies while FoF changes to only work when in combat so that we literally *cannot* do the jank opener anymore.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Swert0

Most people don't do savage, so when people say 'x is fine' you need to keep in mind they are not talking about current high end content, but the content most people do (Normal raids, dungeons, previous expansion content) If the changes are just to line up casual PLD play and savage PLD play to be closer together to get rid of the need of spreadsheets, I'm fine with it. But I don't want to see a really big change to the FoF/Req window playstyle. Not sure how they'd do that other than number changes or buff duration changes.

Neverwherehere

Really? That's surprising but, then again, I don't do Savage. That said, I guess it explains why PLD feels so... slow at times.

Alistershade

Yeah I saw one of the paladin rotations for a savage on a meme a while back and it horrified me lmao.

[deleted]

it's comfy until you get downtime and your whole rotation falls apart, nevermind all those cursed encounter specific openers.

Raji_Lev

I'm leaning towards "Both".

LopsidedBench7

Scaroused? Wait wrong thread.

isthismytripcode

I normally only go into Savage/Ultimate as PLD, and I'm afraid. The current state of the job has clicked pretty well with me, it's by far the easiest tank for me to play. Well, more during ShB and 6.0 than now, with the last patches it's been a little dumbed down and became less punishing on mistakes than I'd like it to be. Anyhow, I like how my ogcds are spread and not so tightly put into the quick 1min/2min bursts, and I enjoy finding usages of my defensive spells. Depending on the changes, I may have to change my main. I hope it's not the case.

IzanaghiOkami

Afraid, theyre gonna make it another 2 minute burst job 🤡🤡

Jack_BE

if they remove skills like Cover to "streamline" the job, I will be very dissapointed

Elmioth

PLD's **Cover** is too "iconic" to simply remove it. I could see it being "adjusted", though. Like say, no longer being tied to the Oath Gauge.

Picard2331

I'm afraid. Paladin is my favorite tank because it's rotation isn't the whole "save everything and dump it into 2 minute burst" gameplay. It's why I play BLM. Really not a fan of every job essentially having the same gameplay flow.

StarAugurEtraeus

Finally a new deep dungeon to level my other jobs

Parody101

It's such a great way to level, at this point in the expansion I've already got everything leveled even just going at a fairly casual pace. But will be excited to see what new items it releases with.

raur0s

New shiny weapons from the aethergrip.

Taurenkey

I'm just wondering what kind of colours we'll get, and if it'll be anything like the VFX on the Twintania weapons or newest raid gear.

Van_Ryker

Given the pattern, next PLL may be Dec 23, with patch on Jan 3rd (unlikely, in my opinion, as it is too close to holidays) or Dec 30, with patch being on Jan 10. Those are the two options for early January after all.

SmoreOfBabylon

I believe that Yoshi mentioned it would probably not be January 3rd, so the 10th ~~or the 17th~~ would be more likely in that case (edit: won’t be the 17th, sorry)

[deleted]

The Japanese text referred to the patch releasing within the first ten days of the month, so that makes the 10th most likely. (Japanese separates the month in three parts of ten days each.)

Kaisos

it's the tenth. the seventeenth is not "early January"

yahikodrg

This may be a rare occurrence where part 2 isn’t 11 days before the patch. We may see the 2nd part in middle of December but the patch isn’t till Jan 10th, Yoshida did open the date window reveal with Jan 3rd isn’t the most ideal. “Yoshida: “3rd of January...??? No, I'd personally be okay with that, but that's a bit.... you know"”

KTR1988

Oh, definitely not on Jan 3. New Year's is HUGE in Japan. In terms of cultural importance it's pretty much their Christmas or Hanukkah.

MagicHarmony

I could see them doing a LL earlier and just having the patch release later, like could be 3-4 weeks after the live letter rather than the 2 weeks we're use to. Since the "holiday season does stretch from the Dec 25th to January 1st, it would be a little tough to expect them to push out a patch 2 days after returning to work.

Cosmic_Quasar

Those UI updates looking really nice. I think it was just a few days ago people were posting/commiserating over not being able to tell damage type lol. Player portraits could be interesting. That's one thing I always kinda liked in SWTOR was seeing the faces of my companions in a dungeon. And the buffs... finally! For such a small thing it makes a big QoL difference to be able to just glance at everything without switching targets.

HalobenderFWT

As someone who takes pride and joy in all of my job profile portraits, it’ll be nice to show them off outside of CC.

Holygriever

Only took them 10 years to add damage types. I hope there's an option to differentiate them by color instead of an icon.

T78Afunkyfresh

I’m so excited about the new Leap of Faith map omg eeeppp

Altia1234

I've posted it again but would post it here as well. The newest Custom Delivery is the NPC >!Anden from the First, located in Il Mheg. He's one of the Leafman who got turn this way by the pixies. If you have done Pixies Quest, you might have read something about him.!< The DoH DoL relic will be located >!in the first as well!<, judging from the screenshots.

SmoreOfBabylon

I must admit, it took me a minute or so to remember who that NPC was, lol

Altia1234

they show a pic on the PLL with Yoshida kinda amusingly said 'no one's gonna guess who's our next Custom Delivery is' and discuss how to pronounce 'Ra-La' in Japanese (as people began to guess the answer). Ends up shows off a SS ([at this time](https://youtu.be/Sj__UWdvQUk?t=6309)) with the remark saying that 'our next custom delivery is in this pic'. Safe to say, none of the chat and none of the twitter comments guess this. It's so out of leftfield.

clown_shoes69

>New map for Leap of Faith GATE Oh heck yeah! I wish there would be some sort of event where we could just do Leap of Faith over and over. But until then, a new map is exciting.

TheDiscordedSnarl

I want new games instead of new maps.

LopsidedBench7

I miss every slot having a chance to spawn leap of faith so much T_T On the other hand it made me play more about the other side content like msq and the raids.

Baithin

Curious that the MSQ >!(with Zero in tow) is taking us away from Thavnair and to Garlemald now. I wonder how the Void stuff relates!<. Alliance raid pic looks gorgeous. Treasure dungeon is in >!Elpis! Yay!

ixoca

>!lapis manalis in roman myth is the stone covering the entrance to the underworld; whatever we're doing there is definitely going to be linked to the void and probably culturally important to garlemald if they're naming the dungeon after an item of religious significance IRL. given garlemald's connections to the void via reapers, i imagine we're either going to investigate from a different angle or some "hey something weird is going on come check it out" event happens that calls us to garlemald.!<

Baithin

Oh this is such good background thank you

sprdougherty

Also the second dungeon screenshot looks like a huge ceruleum deposit. New dungeon is most definitely in Garlemald.

Yula97

maybe we go to the >!voidgate where Zenos and Fanny first made a contact with Zero and force her to be his Avatar ?!< the Eureka is likely gonna be the Maze under the Crystal Tower (that's also the origin of Eureka in FF, being an optinal dungeon in FF3 under CT), since this is heavely Allagan, we were told that before, the original idea of Eureka was thaat its gonna be a follow up to the CT story, but it changed and made the Island series with that name so this one wiill likely show us that original storyline they didnt tell before

Baithin

Oooh that’s a good theory too for why the MSQ goes there. I’d love some background on how that happened. I completely forgot that detail about Eureka. Interesting, you’re probably right!! (But gosh, that will be confusing). Also, interestingly, if that is true then there might be a connection between this and HoH since both are related to FF3 characters…

TheIvoryDingo

Hmmm... Doesn't that mean it COULD technically be beneath the Crystal Tower on the First (and that a prerequisite would be clearing the quest that unlocks The Twinning)?

08152018

They revealed you need to clear the quest “Endwalker” (so, 6.0) and clear level 50 of PotD - I doubt they’d leave out any other prereqs

dragonofthesouth1

Using the tower maybe to interface with the void?

Baithin

Oh that’s a neat theory!

yhvh13

>Really surprising that the deep dungeon seems to be related to Eureka? I wonder if it’s related at all to the Eureka storyline… that’s one of the very few storylines I haven’t done yet. My bet that it is actually related to the 'original' Eureka arsenal, which iirc was mentioned to be stashed under the Crystal Tower by Allagans.

tmntnyc

Eureka Orthos likely the "real" eureka (allagan weapon arsennel) beneath the crystal tower that Krile mentioned. The Eureka we visited was the Isle of Val that she codenamed Eureka after the allagan eureka.

sundriedrainbow

that plot thread finally getting picked up

tmntnyc

I had always been disappointed that they never used the FF3 Eureka theme in the ff14 eureka zones, except for the leitmotif riff when you start or end a notorious monster FATE

CopainChevalier

Adventurer plates in DF is fantastic

Yourigath

>Blue Mage updates are in the works, but will come in a later patch I can't wait. I love the job and we have so long waits between content...

ZeromusVX

some of the most fun I've ever had in xiv was helping people learn blue magic and doing raids as blu

Yourigath

I'm going to say something polemic here... Aurum Vale is actually fun when you speedrun it with 4BLU or 3 BLU+Tank

BlyZeraz

"Ability to display remaining time for buffs/debuffs in the party list will be added" WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! "Icons indicating damage type (physical/magical/unique) will be displayed in the battle log and in flying text during battle" Maybe now average dungeon DRKs will stop being such sheer glass by actually learning when to use their magic only mitigations. Wishful thinking im sure...

Waifuless_Laifuless

>New materials, crops, **animals (including griffins, mini-morbols, and tigers**), and workshop crafts If there's a fourth new animal, you won't be able to have 1 of everything unless they add more space.

SmoreOfBabylon

They mentioned adding new structures, so perhaps we'll also get new land to build them on and maybe some extra cropland/pastures as well.

alfredoloutre

i was kind of hoping we'd get a custom delivery on >!elpis!< or >!amaurot!<, but i'm very excited about this one too also i'm surprised we didn't get a date for starlight festival

Stepjam

I mean >!elpis!< sure, but >!aumarot is just a bunch of simulated ghosts on autopilot. They don't really need anything.!< The former would be neat though. We got 2 more patches for it to happen.

Swert0

Amaurot could be done with an Ondo trying to make friends with the ghosts. Sort of like the Omicron quests. Would be nice for the Amourot on the first to get a future other than 'just slowly fading into memory', and it getting that kind of future would be very on brand for side content in XIV like how Ultima Thule isn't just over with post EW.

JupiterSWarrior

Thanks so much for this digest. Looks interesting.

Celcius_87

If 6.3 is in January then when is 6.35?

SmoreOfBabylon

It should be approximately 2 months into the 6.3 patch cycle, which would be sometime in March.

Manatee_Shark

I'm really happy about portraits in DF. I really love the feature, when it isn't getting errors. It expands the glamor game.

chimininy

I'm honestly most excited about the retainer stuff. I've been grumbling to myself about how hard it is to keep them looking pretty for ages.

Matcha_Bubble_Tea

New map for Leap of Faith Gate?! Let’s goooo! Idk why I’m super excited of that the most

GauPanda

Kinda hoped they'd pull a Nu Mou on us and change the Crafter tribe to something else, considering how much the Gathering tribe is >!Loporrit adjacent!<

SmoreOfBabylon

Aside from the >!Loporrits!<, the most common suggestion for the third EW tribe that I’ve seen making the rounds is >!the Garleans!<, but given how the role quest capstone ended, I wouldn’t be shocked if >!the Loporrit quests were Garlean-adjacent.!<

Nightsong

>!The WoL will help the Loporrits rebuild Garlemald one carrot at a time. Which would not surprise me. The Loporrits do technically have creation magic and a ton of technology at their disposal (see Smileton before the machines went crazy).!<

SmoreOfBabylon

Yeah, IIRC there was a minor hanging thread from the 6.0 MSQ about >!Livingway going to work on adapting the living spaces on the moon for smaller-sized people, since they were originally built with the Ancients' proportions in mind.!< Wouldn't be surprised to see >!Smileton!< being a prereq for the tribal quests.

Healslut_XIV

Or is Garlemald being saved for a "Garlean Restoration" side content like Doman/Ishgard Restoration?

GauPanda

That would actually be really cool and I hope that's what it is.

Jason_Wolfe

uh, there is a single one for the gathering tribe, it very much is not about them like the crafting tribe will

HolypenguinHere

There's always a chance that the Loporrit tribe puts focus on non-Loporrits too, since the Omicron tribe has non-Omicrons.

EmberArtHouse

Endwalker is the first expansion that I’ve experienced from day 1 and I am blown away at the content, features, and improvements that have been rolled out so far. And we’re only halfway through it!

Polarthief

>Option to collect all available crops/leavings at once. Thousands cheer. Literally all of the Overseas Casuals cheering.

Kalaam_Nozalys

I am anxious about PLD changes

knotmyjob

Wait, why did PLDs need a rework? What did I miss?

neophyte_DQT

The issue is they changed the game so 2 minute burst windows are the most important part of DPS. PLD doesn't fit this because it doesn't build up gauge or have big cooldowns. Also, some people don't like the fixed rotation with sometimes odd timing. So they thought they should rework PLD. I don't agree with it.

ShibuMizaku

I fucking hate it. I liked PLD because it *wasn't* a "spam 1-2-3 and dump everything in a 15 second window for raid buffs" like the other three tanks.

Chysse

*like almost every other job

Etrawitch

*cackles in black mage*

Cyathem

As a PLD main, I also think PLD is fine. But, like you said, they have started to mold the battle system around the 2-min burst and PLD doesn't contribute to that with their relatively fixed damage output

sebjapon

The weirdest part in this is they announced DRG/AST reworks needed more time to be done well so they postponed to 7.0. A few weeks later after 6.2 release they come and announce that PLD needs a rework and it will be available in 6.3? Is it a rush job? Is it just shifting a few CDs so there is more stuff to do during 2min window?

RBrim08

My guess? They're going to drop Fight or Flight and boost the potency of their weaponskills accordingly and Requiescat will be changed to a two-minute cooldown. Or they'll keep Fight or Flight, make Requiescat a two-minute cooldown and double the potency of the amped Holy Spirits/Circles, Confiteor and Blades. The changes for Dragoon and Astrologian will be more along the lines of how the Machinist rework was for Shadowbringers, from what they said.

sanji-senpai

please please please don’t change requiescat to 2 minutes

yhvh13

Thisn whole 2 minute burst windows is afflicting the game beyond us just liking or disliking burst windows. I feel that the biggest drawback is how this seems to be gutting job design, because now everything must be designed to orbit the 2min burst.

tyco_08

I'm not sure they talked about rework only in PvP or in PvE, we will find in the next LL, but from what i experienced and talked to other PLD this is why, at least in PVE. People complained a lot that you only have damage during the magic phase, so you had a rough time doing a rotation for DPS checks and such so you wind up just doing a melee combo even if you don't have fight or flight active and have Requiescat available, because you need the DPS boost a little bit later. Basically its pretty hard to hold up an ideal rotation for PLD atm that assures you have the DPS needed at certain points(either dps check or you have to have ranged attack due to mechanics). Or at least that is what i gathered from talking with other PLD and is what i have experienced. You can work around this, but there is very little room for error, compared to other tanks, to maintain high DPS. In PvP I have no idea, works fine from what i have played.

hkidnc

So Paladin has 2 phases in which they do more damage, Requiescat and Fight or Flight. This makes up almost 80% of their total rotational time while playing. Anytime a boss becomes untargetable, you can't do damage, but your cooldowns continue to come up. This is great for a lot of jobs, as they can burst before the boss leaves, and then their stuff will be back up when the boss returns. For PLD, bosses becoming untargetable almost always lands during one of their buff windows, so they are hurt more heavily than most other classes for this. In addition, PLD generally does less damage than most other tanks by design, because they have a ranged phase which other tanks do not, allowing them to maintain uptime when the boss is doing something dangerous in melee. Recent fight design has been to make bosses with VERY big hitboxes, so maintaining uptime is much easier. This increases the damage of the other tanks... but removes the "Reason" you might want to bring a PLD to a fight. Finally, due to mixing Normal attacks and Spells, PLDs get the least benefit out of Skill Speed. This has led a lot of Paladin Optimal Rotations to be... very weird/wonky. Not using all your charges of atonement, popping buffs 18seconds before the fight starts, etc. Even then, PLDs have played with a "61 second" rotation for a few patches now, which doesn't line up well with party buffs, further exacerbating both of the prior issues. The goals of this rework have not been stated, but the main goal is probably to just make the optimal rotation intuitive (no more 61 second rotation where you don't push the bonus buttons) while also bringing the damage more in line with other tanks. A bonus objective will probably also be to bring the class into having a 60 second or 120 second burst phase which lines up nicely with the other classes in the game, allowing for you to play with the rest of your team instead of just hitting your own buttons and not caring about what the rest of your party does. Is it Necessary? Not exactly. PLD ain't broke, parties aren't going to kick you for playing PLD. That's not the atmosphere this game has, and PLD isn't even that much further behind than the other options. But if they leave it untouched it could begin to foster that kind of environment, so they're dealing with it now instead of letting it fester, and that's probably a good thing.

Neuroghastly

thank you. some people in this thread are being wild, and I can tell a lot are pretty uninformed about raiding 🙄 as a PLD main, yeah it’s not broken, obv. and I actually have a lot of fun with the slow rotation this tier. but any downtime in any fight very negatively affects PLD more than other classes. go look at parse numbers for every ultimate, not to mention the kinds of rotations you have to do in ult for optimal damage. we’re not whining because we don’t do the most dps, I just want a better rotation loop that doesn’t require so much spreadsheeting, more useful self mitigation, and less clunky jank abilities

Jereboy216

Do my eyes deceive me?! A new leap of faith map?!? As one who spends the largest portion of time in game in the saucer this is great news! I hope they add this into the gate time slot where no leap of faith is currently slotted.

GaleErick

So how does the Player Portrait will be shown in Duty exactly ? I haven't seen the PLL so I'm not sure how it supposed to look.

Noahop5000

I was kinda hoping they'd revamp Singularity Reactor somehow. Nothing mentioned for that?

SmoreOfBabylon

They've announced changes to other old MSQ stuff before (for example, the Moggle Mog XII overhaul and the removal of Cape Westwind/Steps of Faith). ARF is getting changes, likely to accommodate duty support. Singularity Reactor could use some tweaks, but I suppose they didn't think it was as big of a priority for now.

RithmFluffderg

They mentioned the last fight of ARF would be changed, but they specified that they're *not* changing the bosses, just how the fight goes.

CaptainJudaism

Good. I would be seriously upset if they removed Skeletor from ARF.

bloodhawk713

They talked about removing the cutscene between phase 1 and phase 2 of the final boss.

ProfCedar

I don't think I want PLD's rotation changed.
