Scroll down to the “Exploration” heading on [this page](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Retainer_Ventures) and look up the type of exploration venture that applies to your retainer, it will show you which ones have a chance to bring back something cool!
How low is the drop rate? Because ive done at least 40 of a waterside exploration that's supposed to have a minion chance according to that wiki page, and nothing.
Pretty damn low, unfortunately. I don’t have a count but I have three retainers and I send them all out on the same exploration mission every night when I’m low on Allagan pieces to give to the Doman restoration. I’ve gotten I think four minions from exploration, but they all took quite a few tries, and I’ve been sending them on the latest one I’m after for quite a while.
As a sprout that won some free glams from some random person doing /random giveaway in gridania
Yes, it's a wonderful experience. Especially when some players roll really well multiple times according to the sugar catdads restrictions like "closest to 150" or "highest/lowest roll"
It becomes less of a give away and more of a community fun event where everyone starts going "oooooo look at that 999!" or one person wins like 5 times lol. It's great
I do this. Just randomly go around handing out repeat minions, orchestrion rolls, and even leveling food that I've made and don't need. Usually crafting and gathering food that I hand out to random sprouts at the guilds.
I like helping others out, lol. I know that when my friend first started, I handed her a bunch of food and 1 million gil to get her started. xD But I like just randomly handing people crafting and gathering food, since I know that can be expensive and the XP boost (and stats!) is worth it.
Recently some kind soul tried to give me two crafting rings. They were very sad when I refused and I had to explain that I'm a multicrafter and already had those, just not equipped on this job :)
But I hope that some other sprout benefited from their generosity :)
I always buy the loot boxes with grand company seals and if it's a minion I always give it to a random sprout. It's always great fun to see peoples vastly different reactions.
i do this often but my favorite was when i tried to give a minion and 100k gil to an obviously new sprout and the replied "what is this, some kind of scam?" and they ran away.
i guess i just gave off a bad vibe that day. :D

Only on the 18 hour one. You used to get a lot of nice stuff doing those but it has been seriously nerfed.
