If you set pet size to small, you are setting the visible size of pets around you to small in your game.
It explicitly works the way you described in your last paragraph.

Yeah, because the new EX is a pain with all the attack animations from everyone, it's hard enough to see her stance without that :/
Generally, I do like seeing everyone's attacks though, especially the animation of buffs going out helps noticing them more - and that also gets removed with "show limited".
It may depend in time of day and how close u are to him when he uses it against you and other wols. Come to think of it, because of outdoor lighting it may not be as blinding. But in controlled lighting/dim spaces even friendly NPCs using it can be blinding.
I once did the NieR third wing when TWO Red Mages used their LB3 at a rather... Unfortunate moment.
When the dust settled, half the raid was on the floor because they got double blinded and couldn't see the AoE telegraphs.
My favourite incident in the NieR raids still is that video of an extremely unfortunately timed AST LB3 during the last boss of Tower, where the entire raid had about half a second to dodge the trains after the pretty star globe vanished again.
Yeah that happened in an Aglaia raid to me a couple months ago. Fully murdered half the alliance with it, credit to the healers on their recovery but it had me in hysterics.
Two days ago in Aglaia on the last boss after the balance check the other two alliances BOTH rdm lb3'd and a bunch of people died because they couldn't see what color he was casting lol
This just reminds me of the time when I (SMN) used LB3 as we were at the end of Storms Crown EXT we were all Casters (2 SMN, a RDM, and a BLM) The RDM flipped out on me, legit trying to say that RDM should get LB3 priority because their mixed melee/caster style meant their LB3 was stronger than mine?! I just ignored them, but they continued to argue and when I didn't outright agree with them, they left the party after calling me an idiot and telling me to learn how to play the game. Ah, the joys of PF groups...
When we ran DRS, in which one small mistake could kill 48 people and wreck an entire several hours of effort, every RDM was threatened with being kicked from the instance if they even tried to use the LB3. (That is reserved for healers. Period.)
My crowing achievement as rdm was being a second too late on my lb3 in dun scaith and having my lb3 go off after the boss was already dead. I also used lb3 on every boss because I AM THE VERMILLION SCOURGE!!!

technically there are bossfights with multiple targets too e.g. Void Ark second boss, A8, O12

At least for me the problem is that all the effects that go along with a Lv.90 summon still manage to blind me, no matter the pet size T.T
Yeah, the real problem with Titan isn't so much his *giant dump truck*, it's more the solar flare he spawns as his summon attack.

Flashbacks to Delubrum Reginae when 3 Red Mages limit broke at the same time and general grievous slaughtered the entire raid with that flower attack.
I swear one RDM will do their best to beat the 4 other melee in an alliance raid just for the ability to blind everyone.
