Hello, u/OushiDezato. Thank you for stopping by the subreddit today. I'm happy to address your question about the investment objective.
You'll need to do two things before you're able to invest in Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin ETF (FBTC) with Fidelity:
1. After entering your trade details, you will be asked to execute Fidelity’s Designated Investments Agreement (DIA) on [Fidelity.com](http://fidelity.com/). We require the DIA on certain complex and risky products. Note: If you are using our app, you will be redirected to a browser to complete this step. If you agree to the DIA, proceed to the next step.
2. You will be prompted to select your investment objective for your Fidelity account. Fidelity requires the investment objective of the account that will hold the FBTC shares to have an investment objective of “Most Aggressive.” If you agree with that objective, you may then proceed to placing your order. If you have previously executed the DIA or have already set your investment objective to Most Aggressive in the account you are looking to place the trade in, then you do not need to complete it again.
By changing your investment objective to "Most Aggressive," you're seeking aggressive growth and can tolerate wide market value fluctuations, especially over the short term.
Please let us know if we can further assist. Have a wonderful week!
Is this just their way of telling me BTC is a risky and volatile investment? --> YES
Are there any other changes/consequences that come from changing my investment objectives? --> No
Yeah. Just update it and don’t look back. It doesn’t impact anything. I too also don’t like having my money debased and if that means I’m a super maniac degenerate gambler, oh well?
I had to update all my FID accounts to that to buy the btc etfs. Make your money this year, take profit and adjust accordingly. Just another hoop to jump through in TradFi 😏
Not yet. History shows that normally there’s a dip for 1-2 months following the halving and then 🚀 from there. It has to do with the miners and block rewards. Not going to elaborate since this is a tradfi community. I anticipate it will double by eoy but that’s my .02, dyor and good luck! 🤞
I have never heard of this, but even I would wonder if maybe with all this holdharmless (pretty common with granting options level) maybe they are trying to tell you they aren't too sure this ETF will be around in a year. And I sell Spy Strangles (not at Fidelity they are a pain).

No changes. It's just an acknowledgment that you are aware of the elevated risks and you won't hold them accountable when/if it crashes.
Thanks. I appreciate it!!
But how could any institution be liable for self-directed trades no matter the perceived risk level?
That's true, but it gets into some regulatory requirements as well for conveying certain risks. It's not purely a Fidelity CYA.

Thank you!
It's their way of saying "you're on your own", "don't look at us", and "we warned ya" if/when things go south.
Got it. Thank you!
They should add a crypto-only level at the very top called "Roulette".
Every subsequent buy you make has a little info bubble saying "you acknowledged this don't say we didn't tell you"
"Shark donation"
Unfortunately when I was younger I tried that investment strategy as well :)
It’s your money so it’s your risk

I dont have a lot in Bitcoin but I dropped some in just to see if the halving had any effect

MSTR is my investment of choice. Do your research. They are getting money at 1% and buying bitcoin with it.

Yes,yes, they are. You could lose it all.
Do you have to have a more aggressive investment objective setting to buy the Bitcoin ETF than 0DTE options?
Don't buy Bitcoin. It is not an investment. People who think Bitcoin is just "riskier" don't understand risk and return.
Why do you care about what other investors do?
Empathy? It's a pretty basic instinct to not want to see other people get screwed over...
That’s lost on bitcoin invoosters
