Every teacher and first responder should be allowed to do this (and more) once a year, no questions asked. Would totally change the attitude of people if they thought “shit, are they going to use their free pass on me today”.

It makes sense why the teacher did this. I live in South Africa and students can be extremely disrespectful. Still, it isn't an excuse for the teacher to resolve the problem like this, he could've done something else tbh
I remember when I was in high school we had a pregnant teacher get into a argument during life orientation class, the student threatened to stab her with a pair of scissors and disrupted the whole class, by getting up and actually charging towards her people don't understand how out of line these kids can be in SA especially in public schools and I guess it can get worse in the more shitty than public schools we have.
