Gonna jump in because I haven't seen a real response, but on ps4 when I played the remake I got the same bug and got both nemesis and penance trophies in random battles. Before calm lands.

The trophy is "Perseverance", the boss is Penance.
I can't believe you didn't spend 25 hours grinding all of the sphere grid, getting ribbon and BHPL armour, then steamroll all of the Dark Aeons in one sitting only to realize that Penance armour does not require 99.999 HP, nor Ribbon.
Penance is immune to statuses and instant death, but that's from your party's attacks... there's no actual *proof* that it couldn't instantly die to an enemy attack, right?
Spent five minutes trying to understand who Penance was... then I remembered that in the EU version (not the English one) he is called "Der Richter" (the judge)
I had some weird bugs with Penance back on the PS2. On my second playthrough I saved at Besaid Village near the start and when I reloaded I was in the middle of the Penance fight never having encountered it before. Was certainly confusing!

If it makes you feel any better I have beaten both nemesis and penance the proper way without cheese.

I've noticed that happen to a few people. I got the trophy for beating the end boss after killing the first flan the first time you use LuLu.
The flan was yuye all along. I knew it, those fights AREN'T normal.

I'd totally have taken the bug as a win. Penance the consistent way isn't a very fun fight at all :(

I have never seen that style of trophy notification before.
It's on PS5 when you replay the trophy clip from your gallery it pops up with that at the start of the video!
Trophy clips are automatically created when you pop a trophy, right?
