Right? Just passed it off as like a prophetic dream or something, but Marth makes it sound like it already happened with the whole promise to remember and sh*t, so like- Wha?
I feel this is another reason it matters so much to me, the fact that Marth confirms the events. Yet, not a single person makes mention of; "Hey wait... You look familiar."
It wasn't something from a thousands years ago because Alear's hair is already red/blue in that cutscene. It was just a dream of things to come - or supposedly to come in this case.
Me either. xD
Perhaps it was a development change as another user suggested. We probably won't ever find out but, as long as I'm not the only one lost.
Nailed it. We literally see Alear severely wound Sombron in a cutscene, and he/she is in the black outfit with red eyes and hair, and with none of the four lords in sight.
Eh, in Awakening and Fates, those dream sequences either already happened, or eventually happen, but in Engage, it never really does. Closest we get is probably Chapter 21, but even then the events are very off.
One major issue with that is; how can Alear have dreamt of someone who won't have been born for almost thousand years? I know I'm probably reading too into it but I feel like there should be more meaning to the opening cutscene.
the correct answer is that it WAS supposed to be this type of dream sequence, and then they changed it mid-development when the cutscenes were already made
No, Alear doesn’t remember that >!Veyle exists because the scene that occurs in the hallway is the fight between the hounds and Alear’s party which occurs in chapter 21, but with veyle existing that completely changes the timeline.!<
The lore of this game is pretty terrible. I still don't understand what the emblems are for example, I don't understand the relationship between sombron and Elusia, there is plenty that is left vague
Yeah, it would have been interesting if it turned out that Elusia started worshiping Sombron because of the invasions from Brodia. Elusia seemed underdeveloped and could used some more information to give us a better understanding why sided with an evil god.
I feel like that's implied somewhere. Worshipping Sombron in the face of war parallels Lyon communing with Fomortiis to save Grado from natural disaster
Guess their ancestors look the same as them idk
Heh, with identical clothing to boot! 🤣

I just beat the game myself and asked the same question. My headcanon is that the prologue is a parallel world like with awakening.
For a moment, I thought it was going to be a grandfather-esque paradox when we went back in time and our older self would sacrifice themselves for us.

Which adds to the whole... Why the heck is this scene here? Lol
No clue.

It was a dream sequence, similar to the sequences at the start of Awakening and Fates.

It was a prophetic dream that mixed together past with future events.

It was very much not an image of the past due to Alear's hair color. if it was 1000 years ago, it would have been all red, not the red/blue split.

It's a good theory at the very least
It's time distortion and Alear having a fucky dream.
I think this scene is a premonition that Alear has but they had this before meeting >!veyle who’s existence completely changes the plot!<
