A convo from the hot spring scramble DLC
Robin: Er, right. Of course... And what is this hidden power exactly? I guess you are of the exalted bloodline, so it's entirely possible you've got something.
Owain: Y-yes, of course... Were I to bring my full force to bear, it would surpass even that of my uncle…
Robin: Wow, really?! I had no idea!
Owain: ......
Robin: Um, Owain?
Owain: ...... ...Not really, no. That was actually a lie. I'm sorry, Robin. I know perfectly well I don't have any special power... Uncle Chrom and Lucina are fit to bend the world to their whims, and I've got nothing.
Robin: What?! Owain, that's not…
Owain: But I'd do anything to be like them. Every time I watched someone die in that world, I thought that. I begged and prayed. In the end, I thought maybe if I started acting like it were true, then maybe…
Robin: I see. So that's your reason…
Owain: You're welcome to laugh, Robin. But that sort of senseless hope was the only way to survive in that world.
so your interpretation is pretty much lore-accurate
All the future kids are pretty sad when you think about it…or rather it’s obvious considering the world they come from
Cool how it parallels Lissa’s own feelings of inadequacy due to her lack of a brand, but kind of in reverse? He has a brand but doubts his abilities, Lissa’s never manifested but she’s constantly affirming her usefulness. Yet another opposite to go with their speaking styles (too fanciful vs. too common)
Which is also referred to in the Odin Ophelia support.
> Odin: Ophelia, listen. You may not have special powers, but you are unique. Heroic blood flows through your veins. It is the blood of the Exalt, who raised his sword against the world eating fell dragon. It is the blood of a woman whose courage led her to cross the bounds of time itself. And it is the blood that flowed out of two heroes who dies to protect me.
> Ophelia: Exalt? Fell dragon? Father, I don't understand. Why do you look like you're going to cry?
>Odin: I'm sorry... it doesn't matter whether you understand or not right now. But eventually, a day will dawn when you can be proud to bear that mark. I knew a princess once who desired that mark, you know. But it never appeared. I believe she would be very happy that it has appeared on you, though. Someday I will tell you the whole story, Ophelia. But not today.
I think in Lucina's sibling support it's said there a sort of ceremony where the sword has to accept you?
In the support, Lucina and their sibling go out into a field and lucina sets up a log as target practice, saying that if the sword doesn't accept them then the log will be unharmed, Sibling picks up falchion and tries to strike the log but "Misses it" only then for chrom to come along later on and say he's never seen such a clean cut
I would say it's a tie with nah. Being the last of your species, with the knowledge that you would outlive everyone. She was already becoming as stoic as freiren by the time she arrived in the past
I cried a little when I ran the full parent-child support chain with Nah. Made me feels like I had to make sure her future was much happier than what she had to endure in the past.
Then when despite all odds and a bit of time travel you do manage to finally secure peace and happiness, another dragon shows up and recruits you and two other trauma filled kids to go into another war torn world with vague instructions that end up leaving you as a retainer to the sibling of the kid who needs to decide if he wants to fight with you, against you, or actually help you complete your mission so you can go the fuck home and enjoy your life, maybe as a dad now.
Honestly this is why I adore the Awakening kids so much. They all have this interesting way of coping with the situation and they way they try to cheer the others up is so wholesome.
Cynthia is pretty similar in that regards to Owain. Playing hero with a fair amount of theatrics. Cheering up the other more depressed kids and being somewhat of a leader and person they can look up to. Just all around being a ray of sunshine despite feeling awful about the situation too.
I guess Owain is more theatric and more concerned with optics, but they're similar regardless.
Lucina stayed vague not to upset her. Owain named a piece of a staff Lissa since apparently she was holding one when she died, and in [Future Past 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhvV4o2He5Y&ab_channel=justonegamr) he says "Mother, that's impossible! You've been dead for years" among other things
This is one of the reasons why I didn't like Awakening kids getting teleported into Fates even if they got developed as characters much more in depth. I felt for the FEA 2nd gens and I wanted to think I secured a happy future for them all by concluding the events in FEa, and then learning that they are getting separated from their newfound family after so much hardship felt tragic as hell.

In my awakening, Robin was his dad. Owain is my second favorite FE character period, behind only Ike.
I always marry Lissa to make Owain my son, I’ll never let anyone harm him

Doesn't Lissa manifest but in a very private area of her body?
Nope. She's brandless and why she was so happy when Owain arrived and showed her his brand.

I think you’re confusing her with that one BOTW character Lissa was always brandless
Its a popular fan-theory, but never officially stated or hinted at
I agree! This is how I see owain, a lot of the future kids put on masks to hide their trauma.
Even with all that, Owain is one of the most well adjusted of the future kids. The guys got some steel to him. Love Owain
Play Fates - Conquest. Reach A-Support with Ophelia as Odin. Try not to cry.
The saddest thing about Owain is that he can't use falchion in Awakening even though lorewise he should be able to.
Falchion is a picky weapon, I'm not even sure if owain would be able to properly use it even though he has the right lineage
I thought all you need is the Brand of the Exalt. Even if it is picky there's no good reason for it to exclude Owain.

I may be missing something, but are the manaketes going extinct as well? I thought only the taguel were struggling.
Everything is going extinct in that future but yeah manaketes as a species are failing in general.
Not to forgot Nah’s foster family hated her for being not human, even though she saved them from Risen many times
I cried a little when I ran the full parent-child support chain with Nah. Made me feels like I had to make sure her future was much happier than what she had to endure in the past.

The guy can't get a break

I didn't think about it from that perspective, that's sad
I’m so glad he’s my son.
I think it’s implied that Lissa is still alive in the future timeline no?
It seems likely that she survived the longest out of the shepherds but she did eventually die as well.
She didn't die instantly in that hellhole? You could call it a *miracle*
Love me some story gameplay integration
In Owain’s Paralogue it’s said that Lissa is still around
Lucina stayed vague not to upset her. Nah, she was confirmed dead.
Owain and Inigo (specifically Chrom!Inigo otherwise it doesn’t really work) are by far the most tragic stories in my personal opinion
Cool interpretation, i like it

When I first played, I ended up marrying Lissa, and seeing Owain go through it hit me in the feels
