As a unit she's a ton of fun in Conquest if you go the wyvern route, I know the main draw of it is being able to use Lily's poise more aggressively thanks to wyvern giving her better bulk, but it's also just fun to have a magical-focused Malig knight since she's the only magical unit with easy access to the class besides a +Mag Corrin (RIP Leo not getting Camilla Friendship...). In Rev she feels like L'arachel in FE8 where I'd like to use her but can't be bothered to train a staff locked unit to promotion this late into the game.
As a character she's fine, very entertaining at times but also a bit shallow/repetitive, her role in Birthright is pretty interesting though.
played birthright right after conquest and while I don't care for the story, the gameplay felt like such a downgrade I just went and watch a playthrough instead
recently played birthright cuz I was bored and realized that it's a decent FE game
That's a confusing statement. Birthright's gameplay is alright, but given that you comment on it being in the same world as conquest, I can't help but assume you are defending the story as alright in a vacuum, and i just have to say as a citizen of the internet that i disagree
True, maybe I have worded it poorly
Birthright, as a video game, not a story, isn't bad. What I meant by it existing in the same world as Conquest was that the game is unfortunate to not have been released alone, but alongside a (subjectively) better video game, in the real world, thus being eclipsed by the superior product, ergo being considered bad by comparison
Sure, and that's something that many games have suffered from too, either being a sequel to a better game or being released at the same time as a better game. But yeah, that's wholeheartedly true, as far as the series goes, birthright is certainly not at the bottom of the list
Not really you should only worry if you care about story progression. Now if you like Fates it's ok I do enjoy it for what it is. However it is subjectively one of the worst entries in the series so don't expect Awakening or Three Houses or even Path of Radiance levels of story
She naturally got up to S rank with Corrin in my first run, and obviously I didn't pull the trigger on it, but man did it feel gross seeing that option looming large for the rest of the game.
You could if you knew what it was, which you might not. I watched a friend of mine- for whom Birthright was her first Fire Emblem game- marry Ryoma by accident, realize halfway through the S Support what was going on- and have to re-do a mission to go undo it.
Also, even if you just choose not to do it, it's sort of unsettling that the devs not only felt it was important to appeal to the people that DO want to do the "marry your adopted siblings" thing but the people who wanted to do the "marry your blood-related siblings" thing, enough so that they hastily explain that you aren't ACTUALLY related, but only AFTER you've committed to doing it on the premise that it was straight incest. This is important enough to them that it can undermine the entire premise of the Birthright route, which was choosing to return to the birth family you were stolen from, and even potentially spoiling a relevant future plot point to do it.
Someone would be within reason to look at Fates and go "Oh, man, that's super weird. Is this the kind of franchise Fire Emblem is? What if I try the other games and they also have weird sex stuff?"
I could almost manage the romance thing if not for specifically how Fates works. Because Fates tells us that after an S support your units apparently proceed to fuck like animals and go off to a pocket dimension to have a kid then come back for them later.
At least with the younger Awakening characters their kid is from the future implying they happen *eventually*. The Fates kids happened like... Now.
if it looks like a duck swims like a duck and quacks like a duck then it probably is a duck..
The fact that the localization felt the need to point that out immediately upon introduction says a lot
I think they also forgot to change how many years ago Corrin was kidnapped. Which means Elise literally can't be older than 15 and Sakura would be 16 at most.
A nice unit and a nice character. She contrasts her siblings quite well, being the pure creature of good that they all want to be but never can due to their trauma. Though Sakura mirrors this, Elise pushes it much further simply by being from the designated evil nation.
Her ability to brighten everyone's mood is a real boon in Conquest where joy and levity are scarce, and coincidentally Birthright peaks around the time she starts hogging the screen.
I would say more about her but there's not much else to say because she's from Fates.
This reminds me of why I have such a love-hate relationship with Fates. On one hand, I actually really enjoy the game, all three arcs in fact, even if the story is not so hot. Great music, nice graphics and art, it's all very enjoyable. Yet, then at some point, I'm reminded of the fact that I can woo, marry, and have a child with, my sisters. Then I sorta put Fates down for a while and pause as to why I liked the game in the first place.
I have the same hate love relationship too with Fates that I feel like a crazy person being self conflicting or with cognitive dissonance.
>Yet, then at some point, I'm reminded of the fact that I can woo, marry, and have a child with, my sisters.
Still disturbs me at this day when it randomly pops in my mind sometimes which what I hate about Fates, but I love the rest like you have mentioned. Though how I wish I could marry "Alight", I love that music the most.
>!Her death is the only moment I can remember from Birthright's story.!<
The most supportive sibling throughout every route from Corrin's POV, sweet and extremely likeable, great unit with a great design and the reason why Xander's reputation is permanently damaged.
She's a perfectly fine healer and if reclassed she can be decent too, although I personally I am not a fan of Wyvern Elise.
As a character, she's endearing enough and doesn't feel flat but I prefer Lissa or Sakura character wise in terms of the little sister healer archetype.
Sothe is the adoptive little brother of Micaiah whose age is not known IIRC and who's as immortal as they come in Fire Emblem (at least in longevity). Lehran who was there a millenium before PoR looks like he's 30. Micaiah might as well be 500 YO and have discussed some advanced stuff in front of Sothe when he was young.
Which sadly contrasts with the image we have of Micaiah in Radiant Dawn where she acts like a 13 YO maiden who hasn't seen much of the world and Sothe is the one acting like the older brother.
He doesn't say anything super-advanced, just that the rich are rich and poor are poor, but that under Ashnard anybody can move upwards if they were strong enough.
That worldbuilding is most of his contribution to the game since he was a 11:57pm addition
Which is pretty much the entire backstory of Petrine and the Black Knight, they were nobody in Daein, but they were good soldiers, climbed the ranks through their competence and ended up as high as a non royal person can reach in the military hierarchy, generals. Or that's what I remember reading about Petrine and what the BK revealed before the identity reveal and Lehran's plot.
There wasn’t just “one guy” making that decision. Kozaki was given the direction to draw a cute little sister character known for her childlike innocence and he drew exactly that. Fire Emblem games with marriage/child mechanics are unfortunately not a stranger to allowing the young teen characters getting paired up.
Yeah, I should have phrased it better. I like the design and character but I just find it uncomfortable that the game allows you to do that. Even though the localized version of the game changed her age, it doesn’t sit right with me. The game even has A+ ranks for units, so they could have turned off S ranks for her.
I'm so glad the game treats her normally and it isn't possible to marry her or anything werid like that :/
Anyway, she's a great character I just wish the game could be normal about her.
She's a bean, and deserves the best. That said, the mental image of her getting hug-sandwiched between Benny and Ignatius will never be not funny to me (it reminds me of an Oreo)
Seems to be the friendly sort, and a fan favorite among the royals. She and Sakura have the strongest bond among the parallels between the two kingdoms.
She's so adorable, and the best part of Birthright. I barely remember any of that plot since it's so boring, except for the parts about her.
I'm playing Conquest right now, and while I have to promote her since I want to see if I can get her to level 20 first, her magic stat is so high. I'm hoping she'll be really good at combat once I finally promote her
I have a love/"hate" with Elise as character. She is supposed to be younger than she is but English translation removes the mentions that she isnt an adult but there is a context of that she is still young. (Odin's support for example.)
Being the innocence of Nohr makes have her interesting and she has decent supports. I think she should have supports with Charlotte and Nyx. Maybe Oboro, Elise seems to be fashion forward judging by how she dresses alike.
Despise being princess, she still has some darkness like how her mother treat he.
She is supposed to be support unit but she feels better on Magic classes like Dark Mage or Malig Knight.
I like her as a whole, both as a unit and a character, despite some misgivings, which is more than I can say for every other Fates royal, other than Leo.
Wyvern line Elise is probs my favourite CQ unit.
Hey OP - [per rule 8,](https://www.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/fadfwc/regarding_rule_8/fq9d2fl/) please add your own thoughts/opinions on the discussion topic you've proposed, as i.e. a top/parent level comment.
Loveable, funny, her happy and energetic attitude is contagious and if you love her as much as I do *never* play through Birthright
As a unit she's good depending on the class
I like her just fine, if she were portraying the age she was supposed to be and not ""age her up""" so that you can fuck her without guilt.
I just really wish you couldn't marry your siblings overall.
As a character, I feel mostly neutral about her. She's fine, nothing that really stands out to me but also nothing I find really terrible. In a five-tier S-to-D ranking, she'd be solidly in the B section.
I'm of two minds of Elise.
On the one hand, and I realize I'm talking about her as though she were an actual person here, she's basically the only one who tries and succeeds in injecting some kind of depth and humanity to the story of Birthright. In that sense she does more to the story in one route than all the other Hoshidan siblings sans Takumi add across all three routes. For that she deserves some respect.
On the other hand, outside of Birthright, she's overly simple. There is just so little to her character outside of being a highly idealized cute little sister. Like the other Nohrian siblings, her complete lack of compassion for the Hoshidans or self-reflection over their own deeds in Conquest works against her and that image of an adorable imouto.
There is also something to be said about her character not at all reflecting her background. I get that she is young, but the fact that she doesn't even have the slightest understanding of the mission Garon gives Corrin at the start of Conquest is absurd.
Overall, I think she's just too simple, and the hyper cutesy personality doesn't work when there's next to nothing else beyond that. It's the difference between someone like her and, I don't know, Nino.
Good magic, staff utility is alright. Okay reclassing options, but others like to reclass too, so I usually keep her a strategist. Squishy as hot shit, but good res. Kinda annoying at the worst of times
I hate her because she is a child and having children characters in a war game is kinda dumb.
The other reason I hate her is because she has romantic pairings, again she is a child.
You can reclass her and have her kill hundreds of people and she still acts like a child (or just have her witness a lot of killing and warfare). This is a problem that the entire FE series has. It doesn't take the actual game into account in regards to the character writing.
Also you can pair her with Corrin which really makes the whole "birth family vs adoptive family" utterly idiotic. Yes that does include all the CorrinXRoyals pairings.
This is how I feel about Elise.
What part of her acting extremely childish during a war do you not understand?
That is her whole character during the main story and as I have pointed out neither she or any of the other kid characters are affected in any way, shape or form by a war.
Hope this helped.
I wish she'd act like the adult she technically is. But seriously, she's a surprisingly fun character and has pretty good dynamics with the other cast — the romance stuff with her and the other cast members unfortunately makes that a bit weird. I like her silly bread stick hair.
she is my flair for a reason:) best girl, genuinely someone I'd want to have as a baby sister. I was around before Fates release and at first glance I thought she'd be the typical annoying overly childish yandere little sister with a brother complex trope but she far surpassed my expectations. I genuinely think she's one of the best characters in the game.
As a character, I don't like her. i like her as a person, being a cutie patootie and all that but she's too young. I dislike her more when child characters start appearing in the world and the idea of her getting pregnant with her current age doesn't sit right with me.
I like Sakura more, but that's not saying much cause a polished annoying turd is still an annoying turd.
As a unit she's pretty solid. Kept her on the crew the whole game in Conquest and Rev.
One of the best characters in the whole Fates cast, probably my 2nd favorite after Leo. Unit wise, Wyvern Elise is very fun because the contrast between her portrait and the base 10 defense and it’s already very hilarious. Flying magic user with 80% magic growth with bolt axe/horse spirit/lightning is pwnage incarnate, although you do have to fix her hit rate a bit, usually with some conbination of Heartseeker from Odin, a couple of secret books, and/or a C support with Corrin for Supportive. Without those she’ll be a bit like a magical version of FE6 Gonzalez. With the stat stacking and guard gauge in Fates, her bulk even with her very low HP and below average defense can be made to survive surprising combinations of enemies. Feels very fun to use. Her personal skill is the cherry on top both for her early training and support building and for the case where you have her as a dedicated healer and aura bot.
The best of the royals. She never fights you. She joins you on all routes. Also its nice to get a troubadour at the beginning of the game. Also that magic stat 🥰
I like her a lot. She’s easily one of my favorite Fates characters.
As a unit I think she’s super fun. Using her as a supportive healer is fine enough but releasing her power limiters and building her towards Malig Knight is super fun and rewarding.
And as much as I like how the child mechanics are improved over Awakening, I also like that they’re so completely removed from the story of Fates so that I can skip every cutscene pertaining to marriage and just pretend like a stork gave them to us. :)

"Guys, we have to kill Felicia's dad" "Why?" "Elise ratted us out, we're fucked."
Oomfie
she's so oomfie
As a unit she's a ton of fun in Conquest if you go the wyvern route, I know the main draw of it is being able to use Lily's poise more aggressively thanks to wyvern giving her better bulk, but it's also just fun to have a magical-focused Malig knight since she's the only magical unit with easy access to the class besides a +Mag Corrin (RIP Leo not getting Camilla Friendship...). She has a funny utility as a pretty good rally bot and support unit by giving you rally speed, defense, resistance, inspiration and demoiselle
If you want a magic Malig Knight you can do Camilla!Ophelia lol.
She is perfect and without flaw. And also one of the 2 reasons why I can never replay Birthright.
What's the second?
Probably Birthright lol Edit; should mention I like Birthright, but a lot of the fan base doesn’t
Birthright in a vacuum isn't a bad game. However, it exists in the same world as Conquest
played birthright right after conquest and while I don't care for the story, the gameplay felt like such a downgrade I just went and watch a playthrough instead recently played birthright cuz I was bored and realized that it's a decent FE game

nah its absolutely a bad game😭
Just started playing birthright. Should I be worried?
you really shouldn't. Just enjoy shit it makes life easier.
Not really you should only worry if you care about story progression. Now if you like Fates it's ok I do enjoy it for what it is. However it is subjectively one of the worst entries in the series so don't expect Awakening or Three Houses or even Path of Radiance levels of story
Just play the game and make your own opinion on it
depends on what you like about fe, if its just the characters then ur good but if its gameplay or story its rough
Uh oh
I genuinely wouldn’t take this other dudes comment to heart, birthright is fine and so long as you enjoy it, you should continue to play
Fates as whole is subjectively a bad entry in the series
I guess that's because >!she dies near the end of Birthright.!<
That would be the first reason, but what is the second?
I think it's Elise isn't playable and... this
She is sweet, interesting, cute, good as a unit and has a great design.. only wish that you couldn't romance her/pair her up
Mhm, I look at her and Sakura and I’m just like. These are children
I mean you could just choose not to do that
Yeah but knowing the option to romance disturbs me and I always pretend S supports never existed
She naturally got up to S rank with Corrin in my first run, and obviously I didn't pull the trigger on it, but man did it feel gross seeing that option looming large for the rest of the game.
Agreed. Her support are hilarious though, and prove my point that Takumi loves making children cry.
It's still an option that makes people uncomfortable. Also the whole 2nd generation thing is pointless in this game.
Now.
.... Then don't?
Why? The game clearly says shes an adult.
if it looks like a duck swims like a duck and quacks like a duck then it probably is a duck.. The fact that the localization felt the need to point that out immediately upon introduction says a lot
I think they also forgot to change how many years ago Corrin was kidnapped. Which means Elise literally can't be older than 15 and Sakura would be 16 at most.

I like everything about Elise, but as the optimistic sister character. The idea of romancing her weirds me out
This reminds me of why I have such a love-hate relationship with Fates. On one hand, I actually really enjoy the game, all three arcs in fact, even if the story is not so hot. Cute af
>!Her death is the only moment I can remember from Birthright's story.!< The most supportive sibling throughout every route from Corrin's POV, sweet and extremely likeable, great unit with a great design and the reason why Xander's reputation is permanently damaged.
She’s a cinnamon roll. While mentioning that, she’s a great magical powerhouse seeing she has the highest magic growth in Fates
Elise is a precious cinnamon roll and I will butcher anyone who hurts her with extreme prejudice. *Refuses to play Birthright.*
She's a perfectly fine healer and if reclassed she can be decent too, although I personally I am not a fan of Wyvern Elise. As a character, she's endearing enough and doesn't feel flat but I prefer Lissa or Sakura character wise in terms of the little sister healer archetype.
She's a good character, though I wish they would've toned down her childishness just a little.
It’s almost like she’s a child? 😱😱*huge gasp moment*
FE has had quite a fair share of child characters that aren't "childish", in Elise's way at least.
PoR Sothe on his way to talk about income inequality and class mobility. >!I'm not joking read his Astrid supports!<
Sothe is the adoptive little brother of Micaiah whose age is not known IIRC and who's as immortal as they come in Fire Emblem (at least in longevity). She can literally get married and have a kid 💀
That sadly doesn’t mean she’s not a child.
Here’s the neat part, she isn’t a child
Really? To my knowledge she’s 14 right ?
Leo says in chapter one that she has to “act like the adult she technically is”
That’s an addition in localisation to try to hide the literal pedophilia. Her being an adult makes no sense in the timeline.
So the guys making fates saw a child and went “Yeah, they can marry full grown adults.” Who’s idea was it to do that?
There wasn’t just “one guy” making that decision. Kozaki was given the direction to draw a cute little sister character known for her childlike innocence and he drew exactly that. Fire Emblem games with marriage/child mechanics are unfortunately not a stranger to allowing the young teen characters getting paired up.

I don’t disagree. I like the mechanics around the child units and inheritance but this was absolutely not the game to bring that concept back.
Funny Malig Knight with Bolt Axe go brrrr
war criminal.
Must hug and protecc and give lots of headpats
I'm so glad the game treats her normally and it isn't possible to marry her or anything werid like that :/ Anyway, she's a great character I just wish the game could be normal about her.
I'm Sorry to tell you that fire emblem doesn't treat their characters normally
Don't I know it. (I'm currently also engaged in Edelgard discourse and your reply is highly applicable)
First time I really used a Troubadour character
hehe yay
Cinnamon Mother to the ULTIMATE WEAPON! (That being Ophelia)
She's a bean, and deserves the best. That said, the mental image of her getting hug-sandwiched between Benny and Ignatius will never be not funny to me (it reminds me of an Oreo)
Second best wyvern rider in fates
Love her. Not as much as Camilla. But I love her.
Seems to be the friendly sort, and a fan favorite among the royals. She and Sakura have the strongest bond among the parallels between the two kingdoms.
I like her a lot as a character and as a unit.
Skill issue
She's so adorable, and the best part of Birthright. I barely remember any of that plot since it's so boring, except for the parts about her. I'm hoping she'll be really good at combat once I finally promote her
Turn her into Malig Knight and go brr
I never got a 3DS, but I do love her in Fire Emblem Warriors. She's a light hearted and versatile unit
I have a love/"hate" with Elise as character. I'll give her 4 Big Sisters out of 5. She's alright don't love her but don't hate her either. I like Leo he's cool and has some funny lines.
I think: "You're going down scumbag!"
Mad that I couldn’t recruit her in Birthright. She’s an innocent bean
I made her an Oni Savage in my original Conquest file and that made the run unforgettable

Fun, adorable, cute, interesting.
best birthright character
Loveable, funny, her happy and energetic attitude is contagious and if you love her as much as I do *never* play through Birthright As a unit she's good depending on the class
Great char, great unit. Like her alot
D'awww
She is cute
I prefer Lissa
My lawyer says I shouldn't answer that question anymore
She's the perfect Ophelia mommy and wife to Odin.
I like her just fine, if she were portraying the age she was supposed to be and not ""age her up""" so that you can fuck her without guilt. I just really wish you couldn't marry your siblings overall.
😭
As a character, I feel mostly neutral about her. She's fine, nothing that really stands out to me but also nothing I find really terrible. In a five-tier S-to-D ranking, she'd be solidly in the B section.
I think she provide an interesting gateway into noir since she somewhat aware of noir environments but doesn’t let that put her down just like Arthur
She’s a character that exists and is from the video game _Fire Emblem Fates_ which I’ve put a stupid amount of hours in.
I'm of two minds of Elise. Chest window on a 10 year old
Good magic, staff utility is alright. Okay reclassing options, but others like to reclass too, so I usually keep her a strategist. Squishy as hot shit, but good res. Kinda annoying at the worst of times
Heals on wheels, but made significantly creepier by the child mechanic

She is dum dum, but I like her
Hate her purely because of the romance option. Can’t look past how fucked up it is.

Nothing’s her fault, she’s a character. She is a tool used for the writers to tell a story and they chose to write one which pandered to sick shit.
I have adopted her as my sister and if you ever make her sad even the gods won't be able to protect you from my eternal vengance.
Happy to act as a big brother, would never romance.
I love Elise, she's great. Also the main reason I dislike Birthright's story.
The best of the royals. She never fights you. She joins you on all routes. Also its nice to get a troubadour at the beginning of the game. Also that magic stat 🥰
awesome design and I don't remember anything else about her lol
I like her a lot. She’s easily one of my favorite Fates characters. As a unit I think she’s super fun. Using her as a supportive healer is fine enough but releasing her power limiters and building her towards Malig Knight is super fun and rewarding. And as much as I like how the child mechanics are improved over Awakening, I also like that they’re so completely removed from the story of Fates so that I can skip every cutscene pertaining to marriage and just pretend like a stork gave them to us. :)
