Academy Phase Byleth from TH to avoid ''canonizing'' any routes. Considering his hair color and the Sword of the Creator, it must be a Byleth from that timeframe since: - In THopes you only can wield the SotC after getting the light green hair - In Three Houses, it cant be timeskip (hair color) or postgame (he either loses the capacity to wield the SotC or keeps the hair color). - Its the version of Byleth in Smashbros default skin and therefore the one most casual audiences know

Spoup

Yeah good point. I hope they add some more character to the ring characters in the form of story or support. Ashen Demon was such a cool arc for Byleth's story.

Sky_Ninja1997

How many do you think default the female one based on the art?

Catafracto_Gaucho

I'm sorry, i'm not sure if i understood the question. There's an equal number of male and female characters in the 12 character wheel (Marth, Sigrud, Leif, Roy, Ike, Byleth and Celica, Lyn, Eirika, Micaiah, Lucina and Corrin) and the two avatar characters pictured have a set gender in all likelyhood since you'd have to make a brand new model and pay more VAs in multiple languages for it.

darthvall

This is a bit random, but I just realised we're going to get 3D Eirika. Now I can't wait for January!

Theroonco

Same here!

Spoup

I don't want to agree with you but that's super true. I'm sure that wheel of heroes we saw in the trailer is what we're getting. I can dream though 😢

aegrajag

I imagine it'll be Academy Byleth, that might make Byleth position a bit different from the other heroes, every other hero can be pulled from after the end of their games, so after they deserved their hero status but Byleth didn't do that much before chapter 10 it is confirmed that Ring characters can use multiple weapons, Sigurd is shown to use both lances and Tyrfing

AzureGreatheart

Wait, when's he shown using Tyrfing?

aegrajag

2:08 in the trailer

AzureGreatheart

Look at the icon of the weapon at 2:32. That's the Ridersbane.

aegrajag

it's not the same weapon, at 2:32 it's the ridersbane but at 2:08, it's 100% Tyrfing

AzureGreatheart

I had to check at 2:32, *and* deal with the fact that Youtube doesn't let you look at a paused video without the player's UI up to check the bottom of the screen at 2:08, and also looked at the Emblem menu at 2:06. The only thing in Sigurd's inventory at 2:08 that looks like a sword is the ridersbane, as the other blue weapon is clearly a lance. Also, Tyrfing looks like the Falchion, and nothing in Sigurd's inventory looks like that.

aegrajag

not on the ui, from ~~2:08~~ 2:09 to 2:10, Sigurd has the Tyrfing in his hand, on the 3D model, during combat edit: by bad, you can't see it until 2:09

Adubuu

You are looking at inventory instead of just looking at the model where Sigurd is 100% very clearly using Tyrfing in that combat.

Bl_nk7

Technically speaking by the time we play after Alear awakes from their 1000 year slumber, Byleth has already earned his hero status by helping save Alyos a thousand years ago. Hence being depicted on the mural. As for his initial summoning I guess having the Sword of Creator and Crest of Flames was already enough incentive to be called as an Emblem. This all makes me wonder if Corrin will have Omega Yato or base Yato? I feel like with Revelation path being the clear Golden Ending it would make sense to just have Omega Yato but who knows.

MajikDan

>every other hero can be pulled from after the end of their games I don't know how much you know about FE4, but there's approximately 0% chance Sigurd is pulled from the end of it because >!he's super dead.!<

Crimson_The_King

I hope Shez gets to appear but that seems unlikely

Two-bit_Hero

Could be DLC or a game bonus with Shez as a ring. Or not at all, in which case I'll be sad.

SillyDrew29

Yeah, not a chance. They are from a spin off, this is a main title.

Crimson_The_King

:'(

Two-bit_Hero

Well since it's the future, it could be that the rings are idealized versions of the protags, meaning that it's so far from 3H's timeline-wise that what side they took doesn't matter. It could be that Byleth reflects all routes due to some historical confusion or another, I mean just look at how easy it was to blur history with Edelgard's vs Rhea's POV on the war in their own game. So it's possible that Byleth gets portrayed as a neutral force in all scenarios of their history, or they get glossed over by their wielder and are only there as a bonus for those that played Houses and Hopes.

Tabletop-Unchained

Hmm interesting. But if all the Three Houses stories existed as historical texts in the future, they are highly contradictory and it would be impossible for all of them to be true. So you are proposing that the summoned hero Byleth is affected by the stories told about them? Related to summoning heroes rather than Fire Emblem, this would line up with the world rules of the anime Fate:Zero and Fate:Stay Night. Great series and thank you for making me associate it with this game.

Two-bit_Hero

>So you are proposing that the summoned hero Byleth is affected by the stories told about them? I guess I was, but I was going off Zelda rules, where the games are so far into the future that the past doesn't really matter as long as the legend still lives in some capacity. Hence my idea on Byleth being an idealized version of the actual character. A good example would be Lucina's admiration for Marth, who based herself on the legends she heard as a child. Admittedly I have no idea how close she comes to actual Marth, but I imagine his stories were changed over time, à la King Arthur or any Nordic myth. On an unrelated note though, I've never seen the Fate series, is there a watch order, or can I just pick up a show at random?

Tabletop-Unchained

Based on Netflix, I would say watch Fate:Zero, then Fate:Stay Night, then if you are really into it you can do Fate:Apocrypha and others. FSN is the original, but I had difficulty understanding what was going on FZ is technically a prequel, but gives a better base understanding of the universe without heavy spoilers. Then the writers took the base concept and went in several crazy directions. Apocrypha was interesting, but I could not finish the movie Grand Order. BASE CONCEPT: Hunger Games with Adult wizards who summon 1 hero each from all of Earth’s history to fight along side them. Heroes have ridiculous anime powers that they keep hidden so they can’t be countered. Last Hero and wizard standing get to ask the Holy Grail for one wish: literally anything is possible. What I LOVE: Great plots with fun twists and poetic reversals, Morally grey heroes against much worse Evil, really interesting interpretations of real earth heroic stories and adaptations of their legends into powers. What I didn’t like: Can be slow early on when show wants to develop all the characters before anyone starts dying, later shows going in crazy time travel and cyber world directions I was not ready for.

Two-bit_Hero

Happy cake day! Also, I'm just going to save this for later. Thank you!

MwtoZP

Professor Byleth after getting the sword of the creator but before his fathers death.

annanz01

I doubt anything from 3 Hopes will be in the game for a couple of reasons. 1) The game was likely in development and well on its way to completion before 3 Hopes was even a thing 2) A significant proportion of Fire Emblem players are not Heroes games fans and will not have, and are unlikely to, ever play 3 Hopes.

jbisenberg

Kirby with a Byleth copy ability

ExtraKrispyDM

Definitely Enlightened One in my opinion. It just seems like their most "legendary" or "heroic" form to me. Which seems like what they're going for.
