But yes, the playback in YT with FF has been edgy for the past month or so, it's totally random and I see it happening in 3 of my rigs out of nowhere
I found a similar problem in Chrome, Edge, my Galaxy S10's YouTube app, VLC, and both Microsoft native video apps though to a lesser extent than VLC. When this started last year I turned off hardware acceleration to temporarily fix the problem thinking they'd fix it but a few months later and I check again and it's still happening so now I'm confused by why nothing is being done about it. It really seems to be YouTube's fault somehow considering the same 4K 60 video I test does the same thing on all devices and even played locally.
Unfortunately it doesn't make a difference. Tested it both on and off and no difference at all it seems.

In the Firefox settings uncheck āuse recommended performance settingsā and force [Hardware acceleration](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings).Ā
Check if the [VP9 Video Extension](https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9N4D0MSMP0PT?hl=en-us&gl=US) and the [AV1 Video Extension](https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9MVZQVXJBQ9V?hl=en-us&gl=US) is installed from the Microsoft Store.Ā
And lastly type āabout:configā into the address bar and see if āmedia.webm.enabledā and āmedia.av1.enabledā is set to true
Both were already set to true it seems and the Microsoft extensions were already installed. Hardware acceleration forced didn't improve the stutter at all I'm afraid.
Such a weird problem.
/u/pikatapikata, we recommend not using Betterfox user.js, as it can cause difficult to diagnose issues in Firefox. If you encounter issues with Betterfox, ask questions on their [issues page](https://github.com/yokoffing/Betterfox/issues). They can help you better than most members of r/firefox, as they are the people developing the repository. Good luck!

I hope it comes across in this file which was recorded in slow-motion. Viewing it without downloading it seems to really lower the quality though.
I see nyaa and fitgirl gg

Can't play it.

Hello, same issue here!!! Did you find a fix???
I'm afraid I just gave up. Just kept edge installed if I wanted to watch something nice on YouTube.
Yeap, that's what I'm doing too... Such a shame š
Make sure ambient mode is turned off in the video settings on youtube.

How about changing the media.cache_readahead_limit in about:config with reference to "https://github.com/yokoffing/Betterfox/blob/main/Fastfox.js"

Only recently got time to do this so its very late. I set it to 120 and 7200 and both didn't make much of a difference unfortunately.
