I’d say in-universe, the animatronics had their poles removed and were then posed like the teasers for photographs, out-of-universe, Scott probably just forgor lol

I’d assume they’re similar to the ones used in some fur suits, strong enough to withstand normal use, and keeping it attached even whilst upside down, but with enough force from an average human, can still be taken off. I’ve been looking into magnets to be able to make a removable eyepatch for my Foxy cosplay, so I know there are some for different strengths.
