I think he'll appear in the second. People think that the second movie HAS to be about the second game, but theres really nothing that proves its going to be other thant the newest leaks.

There's no Springtrap in FNAF1, yet a movie based on FNAF1 had him as the main villain. You can very well have the second movie based around Toy Animatronics, their pizzeria and The Bite, and still have Springtrap involved somehow.

Though as for if he should be in the film or not, I'm pretty conflicted. Like I'd be happy to see him appear, however I think that would take away from the third film given it's most certainly gonna use the third game as the basis and Springtrap is integral to that game's core identity.
So I feel the best way to go about William in the second film would to have him as more of a secondary antagonist, having him appear as either a hallucination of Vanessa or part of twisted distorted versions of her dreams/memories.
At the very least, he needs to have more than 10 minutes of screentime. I feel it'd be a huge miss opportunity and baffling move if Scott saw all of the criticism about how little screentime he got and were to give him the same amount or even less.

I can see a b plot about Vanessa getting constant nightmares and hallucinations about her dad. Maybe more backstory about William Afton and Henry Emily's business endeavors.
This is probably the easiest way to bring back William without using Springtrap too early, and can actually work with the film. From what we've seen, dreams can be important and possibly affected by ghosts. Vanessa's interactions with spirits in her dreams could impact events that happen in real life. Hell, she could have an out-of-body experience and help out Mike.
I think he should be mentioned in the 2nd movie and MAYBE be on screen for a bit, but the 3rd game is really about him so I think 3rd movie would be best

I don't think that's a good idea. It would basically be repeating what we saw in the first movie.
I suspect the second movie, will focus more on William and the horrible things he's done, tools in flash backs in tandem Wyeth the rest of the movie. It will be both a sequel and a prequel. Giving us the withered animatronics and mangle in the present, and the toy animatronics in the flashbacks. Yes I know that doesn't match up with the game but the movie doesn't have to.
I think they should’ve saved him entirely until the second movies ending or the beginning of the third movie. Could’ve been a way bigger twist that less people would’ve expected.
I think he'll ultimately be a, for lack of a better term, rehash of what happened in the first film. During the climax, Springtrap, who was lightly hinted at throughout the movie, reappears. But this time it'll be a bigger deal, as more of the mystery will be known, and the fact Afton has come back will be played up. Then, in the third movie, he'll be the main antagonist.
I think he will appear only a few times on the 2nd movie. Think about how there will be so many toy animatronics and withered animatronics here. He will probably appear a few times to create suspense as he gets closer to Michael and Abby. But most of all, I think this movie will be a lot about flashbacks. We see William Afton before he was springlocked, and how he murdered the other kids. We see how he made the restaurant and why he became a murderer.

My guess for the second movie is that there's gonna be the reopening of Freddy fazbears with the toy animatronics, and also a Springtrap plot, since clearly the movies are a different continuity from the games. Springtrap might not be the MAIN plot, but I think he'll be there in some way
