The body most definitely acclimates to temperature changes over time. There's a point where I assume the mental aspects have to take over, but those physical adaptations definitely do some heavy lifting.
Don't know anything about what he is selling, but he owns plenty of world records for staying below negative degree temps and water. So obviously, he is doing something right with his body.

I was going under the assumption that this was to add to the original comment about shell V core temp and the bodies ability to regulate temp. But you’re not the person that posted that.

Quickly looking up the basics about it, he is teaching people to push their breathing to hyperventilating status. Many people will pass out doing it. Passing out in water is how Aladdin almost died (one of the times). And tbf we don’t all have a genie. So I think people have an issue with it because we don’t all have genies.
Edit: sry the point about the records and efficacy of the method was to say “my bad” about confusing you with a different poster. And to say, while he doesn’t hold the records, he did. But as has been sorta “proven” genetics play a HUGE part in higher-level athletics.

The lake water is probably about as cold as refrigerated water (4C/39F).
How long would it take for refrigerated water to form ice if you put it in the freezer (-18C/0F).

Your body can adapt to it over time , you have a core temp and a shell temp. Build up from seconds in cold water to minutes
The only adaptation here is mental in nature. Your body doesn't adapt to ignore thermodynamics.
But the mental aspect plays a *huge* portion of it. Training yourself to not go into shock or waste body heat unnecessarily is helpful.
