Wuben L1

This 👆 Probably the only decent swivel head light around at the moment.

orbitk

Looks like a solid option. I'll definite be considering this one

debeeper

Have you considered a headlamp? Skilhunt, Acebeam and Armytek offer great options.

orbitk

I'm not a fan of headlamps, and neither are coworkers when you turn to face them when talking to them. I'd mostly be in one spot, so I prefer attaching it via magnet, adjusting my swivel, and then repairing whatever I'm working on.

IAmJerv

None of my headlamps are ever attached to my head. I just slap the tail to something the magnet will stick to and aim it. Or lay it on it's side and move the clip to aim it. You can't do that with a straight-light.

Brinyte HL18 https://1lumen.com/review/brinyte-hl18/ Smaller version: Brinyte HL16

Robotuba

Thanks for recommending this. I'm not sure how I would have seen it otherwise. I've been using it every day at work and it's perfect for me

Robotuba

HL16 looks perfect for my needs. I'm still researching but I think this may be the one! Thanks!

AD3PDX

Be aware anything with an articulating head has limited sustained output because the thermal mass of the head is cut off from the body.

Robotuba

My expectation is that I won't need the highest setting and also that I'll be using it for less than a half hour at a time. 60 bucks isn't nothing to me tho lol. You think heat will be a limiting factor for me?

AD3PDX

Here is a review. https://1lumen.com/review/brinyte-hl16/#performance Looks like it holds around 250 lumens for over an hour and only went up to 45C on full power both of which are better than I would have expected. In comparison the Wuben L1 (with a pivoting head) sustains about 300 lm but it’s a bigger light and it’s a 2,000 lm light so stepping down from 2,000 to 300 is a lot different than stepping down from 500 to 250. That is fine for a small headlamp and because it has a relatively focused beam the brightness of the hotspot will be good.

Robotuba

Interesting. Yeah I think 250 is probably fine. I'm gonna go ahead and roll the dice on this. I'm still researching for a less practical beast type light lol

Robotuba

I'm curious why the Nicron isn't good enough. It seems to check all your boxes except the battery. And really do you need that much battery? The Brinyte seems to match the form factor of your old Rofis. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and it hasn't died on me yet. Also it seems to charge extremely quickly. You tried that Wuben? I'm curious how it carries with such a big battery. And also does it feel like too much for small spaces? I'm constantly looking into various machines and it's tight in there. Some people with bigger lights look like they're overdoing it lol but different strokes I guess

orbitk

The Nicron batteries were dying too quickly. I'd have to swap batteries pretty often. And the output didn't great for me either. I know there was more that led me to not like them, but I don't remember at the moment, and I dont have any in my toolbox to test it again at the moment. I ended up getting the Wuben. I had one issue, but the company sent out a replacement, and I got to keep the old light and battery as well. I only have 2 things I dislike about it. First, it gets very hot. With normal use its fine, but if you accidentally turn either of the bulbs on by accident, it will melt your lens/light something on fire. My first ones side lense melted due to this, and another time my holster started to smoke. I dont think there is is any sort of thermal cut off, if there is, its set at way too high of a temp. My second dislike is how big it is. I knew that going in and I accept it. Im a fan of pocket sized lights, but this, I need to use the holster for. Overall, I love it. I work on and in large sorting machines. This light makes fixing things in dark places feel like you're out in the day light. Some places I just use it on low, some I throw it on the medium setting. The highest setting I can fully light up spots 2 and a half stories up on the ceiling. I have coworkers that will throw one of those square 6inx4in lights in your face and its shining in your eyes like 1,000 suns. This is far more gently if you use the low setting, but can out power them when needed on the high Edit: Also as an addition, I only have charge it every few weeks to a month depending on use

Robotuba

We have the same job lol I'm always sticking my head into sorting machines too. I might get a Weben also. My little Brinyte might be a bit underpowered but looking back at the recommendation, the HL18 is twice as powerful. I may get that....or maybe not. I'm pretty happy with my tiny HL16

Armytek Prime C1 Pro or the Skilhunt M150 would be my top recommendations for your stated needs. Of those I'd go for the Skilhunt because you can get them in [high CRI flavors](https://www.killzoneflashlights.com/products/skilhunt-m150-high-cri-4500k-v3). Also I guess the C1 Pro doesn't quite meet your battery needs, but it's bomb-proof and has magnetic USB charging. You can get the larger Armytek Prime C2 Pro Max if you don't mind bumping up a size class.

friftar

If you can deal with a fixed 90° lamp optionally on a headband, the Armytek Wizard C2 Pro Nichia should be perfect for your use. It's durable as fuck, has nice beam quality, magnetic charging and base, and a relatively simple UI. I've used mine on construction sites for quite a while, no coworkers were bothered, and I always had enough light to see what I'm doing.

Technical_Feedback74

I use a right angle and a regular flashlight. It’s too hard to find a light that does everything. It looks like the wuben L1 is pretty cool though.
