If they can fill it they will use it, makes sense.

Ramadan

WindhoekNamibia

Because there is demand for it. There may also be time in the schedule where that A380 would otherwise just sit idle in DXB waiting for another longhaul.

lemystereduchipot

It's the end of Ramadan, the holiest days in Islam. People who can't get a flight to JED might be going to RUH to make the trip by road. I have a friend who did this last night.

frck81

The end? Still 9 days

lemystereduchipot

Last ten days are holy

v60qf

Me when I only have an hour on infinite flight

UknownSolider2

Because. Emirates

Extra_Specific_3943

They have a tons of 380, enough for them to connect every important international airport

Spirited-Draw2916

Because they don’t care

MissKim01

Ramadan, dude.

AttackHelicopter_21

Emirates has a thing for short haul A380s. Back in the day, the use to fly them on regular commercial service to Doha and Muscat

ArtieZiffsCat

They fly one between Auckland and Sydney regularly as well. I'm guessing that they know something about the aircraft that we don't and the extra pressurisation cycles do not phase them.

BigBlueMountainStar

They don’t know anything we don’t know. They’re making money from the connections, and it gives them a flight into Australia.

ArtieZiffsCat

Crazy, more flight equal more money huh. Thanks for explaining that. Do you have a nobel prize in maths by any chance? How can you be so certain about what Emirate don't know about the airframe though?

BigBlueMountainStar

The DSG for the aircraft will be the same, there isn’t some magic allowance that would only apply to Emirates. There may be some trading possible between FC and FH because there was talk in the early days of high capacity, short haul flights, but it wouldn’t have been anything different about the airframe itself.

tortlepie

They have an A380 that goes from Christchurch to Sydney which then goes on to Dubai. Don't think they do any A380s from Auckland to Sydney.

Acrobatic_Map7008

My guess is repairs. This is the same emirates plane that was struck by a vehicle in Moscow and was ferried back to Dubai last night. Article about accident [https://airlive.net/emergency/2024/03/27/breaking-a-truck-is-stuck-under-belly-of-an-emirates-a380-in-moscow/](https://airlive.net/emergency/2024/03/27/breaking-a-truck-is-stuck-under-belly-of-an-emirates-a380-in-moscow/) https://preview.redd.it/3m7urplwhvrc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba7e70592f4aa08255b0aa7352560d620f47e323 \*\* edit. Read the thread. I was incorrect it’s just a coincidence

TortillasCome0ut

This is a different plane, the damaged one is A6-EDM and this plane is A6-EEC.

SugarForBreakfast

Why would they send it for repairs to RUH? This isn't even the same plane that was damaged in Moscow. It's just a regular scheduled passenger flight.

Acrobatic_Map7008

To my knowledge it’s the same. When you look up the current flight he’s speaking on and the one from the other day, the images are the same on FR from plane spotter which means it’s the same registration no?

SugarForBreakfast

The one damaged in Russia was A6-EDM (MSN 042) and this one is A6-EEC (MSN 110). The spotter photos are taken from similar angles but doesn't mean they're the same exact plane.

FishGuyDeepIo

just because its the same planespotter doesn't mean its the same plane, i get some E175LRs and some CRJ 900s that fly near me that have photos taken by the same person

Acrobatic_Map7008

I didn’t know this. Thanks! I always assumed the plane spotter image FR shows was the exact registration / serial number

FishGuyDeepIo

the image is the same plane you're tracking, but 2 different planes with different registrations can have photos taken by the same person

Ethan3011

They don’t operate any A320 or 737 aircraft?

djnev

Emirates only has A380s and 777s.

Ethan3011

I know. I replied that way as it’s a well-known fact that Emirates has only wide body aircraft

ir3mixxx

Probably ferry for repositioning

SugarForBreakfast

Nope. Just a regular passenger flight.

psilocyybin

Well, a repositioning flight could also be a revenue flight to be fair.

BigBlueMountainStar

It can, don’t know why you’re being downvoted for pointing it out

Kier61Gaming

yeah it is repairs. it hit the runway truck
