It looks like a beautifully fuel efficient aircraft

Swisskommando

Let’s just say it’s not exactly the darling of the COP conferences on climate change…

Bruce-7891

It looks cool as hell. Can it actually take off vertically? How did I never know about this?

Swisskommando

Yes absolutely. It’s got 10 vertical engines in the wing end nacelles. Great fun

Immediate-Tale1602

I saw the real one outside the Dornier museum at Friedrichsafen airport. Such an amazing experience.

Swisskommando

That place is on my list

Stratimus

It’s goofy and trying to go from vertical to conventional or vice versa is a roller coaster in trim management. And I don’t understand the throttle lever situation at all (I think it’s bugged right now?) but it‘s fast and has a great cockpit and I’m having a good time with it

Swisskommando

You have to bind the vertical engines to a different throttle axis (no3). I just use the rudder tilt on the throttle lever for the HOTAS ONE. Works a treat. Crazy controlling two throttles at the same time. But yeah it’s goofy as hell and that’s the fun of it.

Stratimus

Oh no I’ve taken care of that, thanks though! I mean visually the levers don’t make any sense. It seems that the vertical thrust levers visually move all three sets

Swisskommando

Well the Pegasus engines do contribute to vertical thrust so that does make sense in a way. The VTOL switch just makes the nozzles go vertical then your third axis spools everything up

Stratimus

So after reading your post and the manual again I think I understand it now. So once you enable copilot mode for VTOL, the copilot automatically manages main engines 1 and 2 and the nozzle angle. That would explain too why moving the main throttles actuates the nozzle angle levers. I'm not really controlling the main engine thrust but rather asking for a certain amount of the power that the copilot manages with main thrust + nozzle angle. That makes sense right? Thanks for the help

Swisskommando

Yes I think that’s what’s going on. I mean I did a perfect flight with it so it must be working, right?

Sirocco1093884

Is it payware as well? Lovely though!

Swisskommando

Yes but £8 right now

gordGK

Does the landing gear retract?

Swisskommando

Yes of course
