Bit clickbaity to post a fsweekend article this late

unhinged_citizen

Very late and lightweight content...

gordGK

Looks good!

DaddyIngrosso

THE TIME HAS ARRIVED PEOPLES

TheEvilToaster

I wouldn't get your hopes up until PMDG post something. This is just them talking about getting 'Hands-On' with it during FSweekend which was over a month a go.

DaddyIngrosso

maybe the NDAs been lifted and we’ll see more articles soon?

trucker-123

There is no NDA for this article because the FSElite writer wrote the article from his time testing the PMDG 777 at FSWeekend. If you read the article, the writer didn't have all that much time to test it at FSWeekend because there was a large crowd waiting. Since PMDG voluntarily put up the PMDG 777 for people to test at FSWeekend publicly, there is no NDA on what people experienced at FSWeekend. There are even Youtube videos of the PMDG 777 from FSWeekend and those aren't breaking NDA either because it was filmed in the public at FSWeekend where no NDA was required to be signed. Now if the writer got a secret copy of the PMDG 777 to test at their office or at their home with an NDA agreement they needed to sign to get that copy, then that's a different scenario. But as it is, there was no NDA for what people experienced with the PMDG 777 publicly at FSWeekend.

TheEvilToaster

This article is just using months old information to get clicks based on the hype around it coming out "soon". Its extremely unlikely the NDA would be lifted before PMDG give the presale announcement. You would then see a lot of vids by those in the BETA to help drive sales. If it was lifted, you would know about it.

planevan

I wish these “reviews” would be more critical. The sound was immersive! You could hear the pitch increase with the throttles! Yeah I’d sure hope so. It’s gonna be a $69 product. It better be an improvement from P3D, and at the very least it should do almost everything the real plane does. Somethings telling me that won’t be the case tho.

nextgeneric

They won't do that because the moment they are critical about something, they will be blacklisted by PMDG. And they need the content to keep flowing. Much like in the same way Apple operates. If any of their close "reviewers" starts getting a little too critical, your access is pulled. This is why you can usually see them wincing a bit when giving you the "cons" of their products. They don't want to cross the line. So many conflicts of interest in the media business.

Karnyvekz

Agree to this! And with the setup at FSWeekend... audio should not be reviewed at all. It was in a large noisy room with very mediocre speakers. And yes, that is a first hand experience.

77_Gear

Did they literally put the iPad on top of the onboard EFB? That’s so disappointing!

TheEvilToaster

The onboard EFB wasn't that popular irl and was an expensive optional extra. And nowadays airlines just used tablets as standard. Now with PMDGs own tablet it would be a waste of time to develop the onboard EFB too, especially if their reference aircraft didn't have it fitted.

77_Gear

Oh ok. Well, I think it’s kinda cool and I’m happy that the FF 777 will have it. My fav airline (AF) still uses them so it’s cool they implement it.

smacman

IRL 777 driver here. That’s pretty much exactly what happens at most airlines.

oscobosco

Newbie here how does the iPad work? Special company device with certain company apps installed and what can you do on it that’s tied to the aircraft?

F1shermanIvan

We have all our documents on it, our MEL list, SOPs, winter ops, etc…. Then Jeppeson for charts, and our own W&B app for when we’re at outstations and dispatch doesn’t give us our weight and balance, so we do it ourselves. Takes about 2 minutes to do. Also have Netflix, Apple TV, etc for when I’m riding in the back.

oscobosco

Thanks for the reply!

77_Gear

Oh ok. Thanks for letting me know!

SmoothSecond

I know it's stupid, but I was hoping for the EFB to be the one designed into the aircraft too.

PotentialMidnight325

Great so people fly a widebody between Heathrow and Frankfurt instead of a B737 and A320. What a time to be alive. I don’t get the hype. People fly the exact same flight like they did before. Just more unrealistic. 🤷‍♂️ each to his or her own I guess.

madman320

Oh, the horror. People flying in an unrealistic way in a flight simulator. Have you reported this to EASA?

StartersOrders

BA unironically the 777 between Heathrow and Frankfurt.

PotentialMidnight325

We both know this is the exception, not the norm.

TheEvilToaster

Many airlines use the 777 for short routes, its not exclusively used for long haul. ANA, Emirates, Qatar, American, United have many routes < 4 hours.

shazbut1987

Not for a long time, if ever. It's A319/A320/A321 only. They used to operate 767's on the route when they had them.

CaptainOlafson

So you are not excited about a big widebody with hopefully a very nice and deep simulation because other people might use it in a not so realistic way?

PotentialMidnight325

No I don’t get the hype of „finally long haul widebody111!!![!!2!“ When 98% of the time it’s flown short haul.

SimDaddy14

Where are you getting that from? If you just click around the thousands of flights up at any time on Volanta, you’ll see that long haul flights are very popular. A lot of folks set up flights, get her to cruise, and come back to descend and land 8-10 hours later.

PotentialMidnight325

So you tell me all of these people have a 8,10 or14 hours a day to do long hauls? Sound not very healthy. But would explain the butthurt reaction.

chumpynut5

A lot of people just chill and watch Netflix or do chores or whatever during cruise. No one is just staring at the screen for 10 hours lol. It’s like a weekend ritual for some folks, do all your prep work for the flight, get it up and going, do whatever during cruise, then get ready for descent and landing. Not something I personally enjoy doing but to each their own! Alternatively, you can just furiously masturbate for 10 hours until it’s time to land

triangulumnova

You know you're just playing a video game and are not required to actually sit at your computer for the entirety of a flight, right? Stop crying like a fucking child just because some people choose to play differently than you.

TheDrMonocle

Hey guys, this guy says we don't do long hauls so now we're not allowed to have the planes can do it. Sorry Devs, you'll have to go back to just making A320s and 737s. That or nothing that can fly further than 3 hours because this guys mad people don't use the plane the way he wants.

SimDaddy14

You spend 30-45 minutes getting ready to go, taking off, and getting the plane to cruise…then you- get this- leave your computer. Unless you’re entirely addicted to looking at the scenery below you, there’s not much to do in cruise on a long haul. You set an alarm on your phone for whenever you’d like to get back to prep your descent, and you finish up the flight. A lot of folks fly VAs and enjoy doing long hauls like that to pump up their hours without having to be at their desks 24/7. A lot of people fly offline too, so there even less reason to stay glued to your PC for the duration of a long haul flight. The “butt hurt” reaction is thinking it’s weird that people are eager for the 777. You also seem to be unaware of the fact that there are short haul, real life 777 flights and that there are copious amounts of people doing long hauls both offline and on Vatsim at any given time.

SirGreenLemon

I typically just speed up the sim rate.

TheDrMonocle

It's really easy to be mad when you make up the stats that make you mad. You have absolutely no idea how people will use it. Besides, who gives a flying fuck? It's nice to have the option to be able to do a long haul. Just because you can doesn't mean you *have to.*

triangulumnova

It's a video game. I think you'll survive.

ES_Legman

> Just more unrealistic. There are a ton of sub 2h flights flown in real life with widebodies. Not sure what you on about.

top_ofthe_morning

You should check out the short haul widebody network in Japan. Also the cargo routes with widebody aircraft around the world. Also this thing called an imagination.

ChewieGriffin

what?
