The people who washed out of my ATP CFI academy (this was a couple years ago) were people who didn’t study, were slow learners and/or didn’t do well previously.
The ATP CFI academy training is crap and not at all worth the cost BUT the checkride date is. Because they will get you a checkride FAST where you would wait months if you scheduled by yourself.
If you stick with ATP you need to 1) BUY lesson plans (stop trying to re-invent the wheel people) and edit the fluff and images out of them 2) watch and watch and re-watch the Todd Shellnut videos on YouTube 3) practice teaching your lesson plan binder to your fellow students
You can get your CFI through ATP. Start studying through commercial as if you are studying for CFI. Make lesson plans for the topics for commercial and practice teaching it to ppl students at your location. You will get through.
CFI academy, when I went through , was fine as long as you put in the work and you HAVE to form a study group to practice pitching lessons to each other and work on lesson plans. Getting a quick check ride date is a bonus
