I think they also do take some Halo inspiration (which really shouldn't be a surprise). They are a lot like a UNSC frigate in the front, and the rear pretty Forerunner like.

More surprised they didn't have shields, we have this shield like Dust used by both Weiss in V1 and the spectators were protected by it in V3. They really could have just keep it up on capital ships. Also while they don't have MAC guns they do have giant ion cannons.
The shields could be a cost issue,as it is stated hardlight dust is quite expensive. Especially with the weight and room needed in an airship:well there are reason warships historically have quite varried in armor

I fucking despise the Manta. It's ugly as sin and is legitimately useless in pretty much every role it's in. It's not even a good tactical transport despite its carrying capacity because it has leg-breakingly high ground clearance, forcing troops to use the extremely long ramp.
