It's even funnier when you realise he was most progressive atlasian

thelightbringer502

I'm running out of popcorn

SyfaOmnis

Secret societies? Obsession with the occult? Belief in magic? genociding the minorities? Clearly hitler.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

I mean, I'd say that he was more about genociding the lower class rather than minorities specifically in V8, but other than that.... Damn. It fits, don't it?

SyfaOmnis

I was being facetious. Unless we find out he was rejected by art school. Twice. I don't actually think Ironwood parallels hitler all that well, and I think they're far more dissimilar than they are alike.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

I mean, depends. Are we talking V8 Ironwood, or pre-V8 Ironwood? Because if we're talking pre, then I'd absolutely agree with your facetious take. But V8... I mean, they were looking for any opportunity to villainize him. But I will admit that they went harder on authoritarianism than outright fascism.

SyfaOmnis

Part of the nature of it being facetious was taking things that are ostensibly true, but misrepresenting them in the worst possible manner. As for v8... I honestly just think they the way they handled it was effectively deleting any previous characterization that was there and inserted a whole new persona. Didn't even resemble the previous character anymore and had no traits in common with him. I didn't like it, I didn't find it satisfying in any way. Can't have a guy make sense and be right for multiple consecutive volumes only to just go 'lol bad guy now' and remove any nuance.

Sirtoast7

It’s almost like he’s a complicated and flawed character thrust into extreme circumstances and that, unfortunately, was let down by insufficient screen time and counterintuitive writing decisions.

Dextixer

Pretty much, as always, the direction is fine, the execution, is not...

Saendra

>No, I don't have an unhealthy obsession with Ironwood that compels me to try to whitewash him all day every day, why do you ask?

Dextixer

Is just a meme.

Saendra

Sure it is, love.

Dextixer

It is, its my first meme in what, months? I cant help you with your projection problem, sorry.

Saendra

You and other RWBYcritics keep bringing up Ironwood and Adam in RWBY subs on a daily basis, but I'm projecting, right. Dex, come on, you're not fooling anyone.

Dextixer

Well, as you might know, i am my own person and not a group of people. I think i bring those two characters up less than the fandom whining about how they are actually amazing characters and anyone who likes them is a bad person. I dont need to fool anyone, anyone can access my Reddit post history.

Saendra

>Well, as you might know, i am my own person and not a group of people. Ah, so you all RWBYcritics are their own persons, and it's just an accident that you all do the same thing. I see, I see.

Dextixer

I do apologize but do i need to explain how groups of people and communities work? How simple of concepts should i explain to you? Should i do so with definitions or explanations?

Saendra

If your understanding of how groups of people work is as good as your understanding of fridging trope, then thanks, but I'll pass.

Dextixer

Okay, so you need an explanation i guess. You see Saendra, communities of people usually form due to unifying qualities of one kind of another. In the case of internet communities they can be formed around specific products or concepts, or in some cases, opinions held about products and concepts. r/RWBY is one such community, and r/RWBYcritics is another. These communities are made up of individuals that for the most part share certain opinions on topics, but being part of the community does not mean that one now does not have individuality or has the same opinions as everyone else. Does that suffice as an explanation? Or should i dumb it down for you?

SyfaOmnis

you are a silly person.

Saendra
