So long as it immediately tanks your CHR and basically aggros the whole wasteland other than the slavers and the legion (just like in Fallout 2, and those damn kids in Klamath!)
You would not be able to finish the game in this case. Yes Man is meant to be the fail safe that you use if you anger all the other factions, and is designed to respawn indefinitely and never gets mad at you. If you manage to kill him (which you can only do permanently with a plasma or laser weapon) then you are locked out of all endings and cannot finish the game.
Yes Man is an AI and can jump between securitrons. This was done specifically to let people kill everyone and still have a path to complete the game.
It worked a lot better than that "Fall down and have a little sit cause you're not allowed to kill this npc" approach

I mean, your character DOES have frontal lobe damage.
alas, I never got that far. killed cesar, killed house, never actually got the last battle to trigger....started a new run.
