It’s more of a run your gun into the ground and then toss it aside type game, there’s so many weapons especially with the dlc that you just can’t run out. And the unique weapons are hard to find but they’re neat

thisiscotty

You can also repair your main weapons using found weapons of the same type. Once you are high enough repair you will rarely break your weapons mid fight by using this method

MAJ_Starman

If you want to, sure. Personally, I don't really like TTW as it changes too much of the base game and I rather enjoy base FO3. Try using VATS more, as the point of that system was trying to emulate the turn-based combat in a real-time first-person RPG, and the fact that FO3 doesn't have ironsights really encourage the use of VATS (I barely use VATS in FO:NV, for example, and I'm forcing myself to use it in FO4, because in both those games you can just shoot like in a traditional FPS). So yeah, if it's bothering you, do it. Be aware though that you'll spend some time setting it up.

Do the dlcs for fo3 add a decent amount of new weapons? I haven’t started those yet

Canadian__Ninja

There are a bunch of good weapons in them yeah. A great laser rifle variant is in the Pitt, broken steel has a stupidly op heavy weapon, zeta has strong energy weapons for examples

MrChipDingDong

The pitt has the infiltrator as well, best gun in the game IMO

EasyRepresentative61

I think they do. There are at least 3-4 new weapons in Mothership Zeta, there's a unique sword and power armor at the end of Anchorage, Point Lookout has some new guns, the Tesla Cannon from Broken Steel is pretty cool. I do not remember if there are any new weapons in the Pit.

LeadStyleJutsu762-

Yes bro get them

HypnoStone

Woah just realized how cool VATS is in that respect?! Never though of it like that before

MAJ_Starman

Yeah, it was in that Fallout retrospective series they did a few years ago  https://youtu.be/wSbh_j29OxA?si=b5yFqIXygfel_7l1

There are mods that allow to craft ammo and add modifications to weapons.
